{Ed002's Note - Right on - screw the Liverpool "legends". It is interesting to watch the fans like you going from jerking off over the ex-Liverpool players like McAllister to saying "who cares about who they sack". Please don't complain if the words "laughing stock" get mentioned. But it is not about me, obviously he is the rat shit ex Liverpool waster you don't care about.

Sorry that I do have an opinion on this.}

The club is what is important to all the Liverpool fans. Klopp wants to install his own staff which isn't unheard of, he has people he works with and trusts and i'm sure Gary Mac will be understanding about it, without becoming irrational or bitter towards the club, the badge or his status among the fans.

It does seem like the owners were a bit short sighted with the recruitment of staff in the Summer, sacking Rodgers and his staff some 8 games into the new season but that is fickle harshness of the results based game we all love.

I hope Gary Mac gets back into the game at some decent coaching level, but i'm sure he's been compensated for his efforts with Liverpool F.C.

2.) 08 Oct 2015 22:47:22
Any other job if you get sacked after 10 or so weeks without doing too much wrong, you'll be pretty mad

3.) 08 Oct 2015 22:54:09
I don't often stick up for ed2 but this is stupid. Gary McAllister is a legend that was treated like shit. He would of expected to get a good run at the job but he got a few months and then gets offered a role as an ambassador. It is a joke.

4.) 08 Oct 2015 23:16:36
It's the nature of the game though.
Gary Mac is a legend and he is certainly no fool when it comes to football. Everyone knows when a new manager comes in he usually brings a team of backroom staff.
It has been that way all through Gary Mac's career.
It's a shame, of course, but I'm sure he will bounce back.
Plus he lost his job but has been offered another role.

I have more sympathy for Eva Carneiro.

5.) 08 Oct 2015 23:05:28
Ed02 - Mate normally I would of been with you on this argument. Legends should be treat like Legends but the fact is is that Gary was taken along with O Driscoll as coach and had little to no impact. There was no improvement. Legend or not, if he can't do the job he was employed to do then he has to go. As far as I am aware Mac was the only one kept on in any capacity.

{Ed002's Note - I completely understand - Gary McAllister is a waster who can't do his job and has to go. The fan base has spoken.}

6.) 08 Oct 2015 23:25:50
That post about Gary mc getting sacked and people getting sacked every day.
Had to be a wind up right? Seriously nobody is thick enough to think that. I feel for Gary mc really do. must of been a horrible situation for him.

7.) 08 Oct 2015 23:26:27
I agree Ron, now there is an embarrasing club. Chelsea and Mourinho just drag English football down, if it's not sexist managers, wrongful sackings, it's John lock up your wife Terry and his gambling. The list goes on.

Many top clubs of class have former players as ambassadors, he wouldn't have accepted if he didn't want it.

8.) 08 Oct 2015 23:42:35
Tbh I'm elated at the appointment of klopp AND his staff at the club, but disappointed at how it has been done.

I for some reason like BR but don't think he was the right man for the job, but treatment off the appointed staff is short sighted and harsh.

Can say they haven't provided improvement but is a month and half into the season. Everyone is rightly saying give klopp time with the team before you judge him, but then seem to be fine with doing the opposite with the staff released.

Don't think with BR at the helm it would improve but what was the point of not doing this in the summer? Can't blame the coaching staff for not immediately improving the team and imagine it will take klopp time to do so. Seems they changed the coaching staff, tied their hands behind their backs and tossed them to the wolves.

Added to that klopp now has less time to implement his methods and a £100m+ less to get the players wanted it. Just think it is harsh on the coaches brought it and provided a stepper hill for klopp to climb

9.) 08 Oct 2015 23:50:34
Why become petty and bring chelsea into this? Who even cares what chelsea and mourinho does? This is about liverpool and what happened to SO and GM is pretty embarassing. however it is part of the game i'm sure they both know that, blame lies in the hands of the owners but what's done is done
.move on

10.) 09 Oct 2015 00:42:59
As a wise old sage once said , "just transient employees of the club" 😉

11.) 09 Oct 2015 02:28:45
The right thing to do for the club is to give Klopp the team that works best for him now he's been appointed. I'm assuming Gary would have known going into the job this was a risk if things didn't turn around, maybe not this early but certainly before Christmas would have been a thought.

It's a difficult situation but I don't think it's fair to say he's been completely screwed over, at least he has something until he can decide what to take on next.

{Ed001's Note - he was led to believe he would be given the season, regardless of what happened, which is why the club offered him a different role, rather than just booted him.}

12.) 09 Oct 2015 04:15:04
Here's my take on it.

There are two ways to judge the season review in the summer that went by: it was a major, short sighted f*** up; or an inadvertent masterstroke.

It could be viewed as an inadvertent master stroke because if they sacked Rodgers in May, I have doubts about whether Klopp would have been attainable. Would he have accepted an offer and cut his sabbatical dramatically short? Probably not, and we'd probably be left with a manager of lesser calibre. By waiting until now to sack Rodgers, we picked the perfect time to capture Klopp's services.

You can also say it was a f*** up because of obvious reasons: short-sighted naivety with Rodgers; took the piss-weak half measure of sacking the whole coaching as if to say all our troubles was their fault, leaving us exposed to a situation that will be mentioned further in this paragraph; letting a guy, who would only manage 8 more games, spend a lot of money on half a new team; forcing ourselves into an immoral situation where we've had to sack SoD and Gary Mac for practically doing nothing wrong, only mere months after they've had to readjust their lives for the Liverpool job.

Given the fact that landing Klopp is such a massive coup, I'm leaning more towards the interpretation that it was an inadvertent master stroke, but I think that the club's goodwill has taken a hit. If they instead opted for a convicted full measure and told Rodgers to keep his coaching staff, we wouldn't be stuck in this moral dilemma.

Eds- your reading far too much into posts Mate. Nobody is disrespecting Gary, OK possibly the original post. It doesn't matter which new manager came in they would instate their own backroom staff. We all know what Gary helped us achieve in his short playing career time here but he fact is once BR went he himself must of known his time was up. If Gary felt so disrespected and put out he would of walked. Thing would of been talked over with him I'm sure. We know he loves LFC and would only want what is best for the club. Yes he will be disappointed as we all are, nobody wants someone to fail or get the sack but I get he is just as excited as the rest of us. It may not be morally right but we only know half the story.

{Ed002's Note - Yes they are. RTFP.}

14.) 09 Oct 2015 08:59:57
Ed not the whole fanbase, only a section of it, i am actually in agreement with you. Having recently been screwed on a job promised to me i am not one for reneaging on promises. Yes i love the club but first and foremost the club was built on people and building strong relationships.

Gary mac helped this club achieve one of its greatest seasons in its history and DESERVES respect. I say no more than this.

{Ed002's Note - I completely agree with you.}

{Ed001's Note - Klopp was the man I always wanted, this is better than any Christmas or birthday of my life. The only thing that betters it was the first time I held my daughter after she was born.}

1.) 08 Oct 2015 18:41:24
ed001, i feel you man. this changes the game, i have never been more excited about liverpool all my life. I've never seen us lift the premier league, so that should give u an impression of how I've gone through life as a liverpool fan.

im not saying we will win the league, don't get me wrong, but this appointment is the biggest appointment imo, in my life as a liverpool fan.

2.) 08 Oct 2015 18:51:20
Well I can definitely relate to that feeling Ed001 . "the first time I held my daughter after she was born".

3.) 08 Oct 2015 19:27:25
Not sure any of us have seen us lift the premier league unfortunately ;)

4.) 08 Oct 2015 20:04:19
Yep I feel the same Ed01!
For me he was my first pick by a mile even though CA is a great manager something about Klopp just felt right and I think we can maybe start dreaming again!
COME ON YOU REDS!

5.) 08 Oct 2015 20:54:18
I'm 37 & it's the one of the biggest things the club has done in 20 years! All the top 4 teams, Chelsea, Man United, Manchester City and Arsenal, will all most likely be needing new managers within 2 years, and do you not think he would be on the top of ALL their lists? He is a winner, loves the game & had a definite system of playing football. This will suit a lot of our players. No need for huge changes. I'm DELIGHTED!

6.) 08 Oct 2015 19:33:51
Holding your daughter comes second to this T! Lol

{Ed001's Note - ah how it shows you don't have kids yet! All that firing blanks keeps you safe....}

7.) 08 Oct 2015 20:00:57
Ed 001, got to say mate I've watched us win the league European cups ,but I agree with you mate this is as great a feeling I can recall bar the children being born .still not sunk in yet need to see the man on the pitch with the scarf .but get ready for something very very special .he has got that something that not many people have .ask yourself this I don't think there's a team in the prem that would say NO to our new boss .thank you Jurgen klopp for given us this feeling.and you haven't even got there yet.

{Ed001's Note - it feels like we are on the brink of creating a whole new era of success.}

8.) 08 Oct 2015 20:45:23
Nice one ed, so when u and benny going to do a welcome to lfc podcast?

{Ed001's Note - not sure mate, hopefully soon.}
