Alright eds, any interest from us in Cagliari midfielder Nicolo Barella?

{Ed001's Note - he has come out publicly and said he would like to join us, hence the reported interest. He has been monitored but we have shown no signs of actually doing any more, as of yet, than keeping an eye on his progress.}

1.) 16 Oct 2018 09:19:26
Is he any good Ed?

{Ed001's Note - very highly rated mate, not seen anything of him yet to judge him sorry.}

2.) 16 Oct 2018 12:02:05
Cheers ed.

{Ed001's Note - welcome mate.}

Massive 3 points that was today. Brighton have the same home points as spurs this season, was always going to be a tough test especially after losing afew.

1.) 12 Jan 2019 20:12:20
We lost ONE - and it was a narrow defeat to City which could have gone either way with a bit of luck. The team that lost to Wolves away was a second string team with only Fabinho (albeit out of position) was a first team player. Keita at a push.

2.) 12 Jan 2019 20:24:56
If we didn't win today it would have been classed as a crisis or the start of the meltdown, massive 3 points and now pressure on city for Monday, wolves will be a tough game for them.

3.) 12 Jan 2019 20:32:34
We did loose a few city and wolves Eric!

4.) 13 Jan 2019 00:25:16
At this stage It doesn’t matter if we win the games 5 nil or 1 nil as long as we’re winning them. Goal difference will only come in to play if we drop 4 points so 1 nil wins for the rest of the season will do me nicely.

As soon as i woke up this morning my first thought was last night's game then my second thought was Brighton away, forget about last night it's on to the next one. Not too worried about the fa cup, I would rest players.

1.) 04 Jan 2019 13:34:26
No trophy is guaranteed, not really caring about the FA Cup makes no sense to me - what if we don't win the league and don't win the CL? Another trophyless season? Would rather we took the competition seriously and tried winning it personally.

2.) 04 Jan 2019 13:46:07
Right Seano. If you aspire to be the best, you've always got to go out and give it your best, whatever is facing you. Do your rotation by all means, if you want to, but make sure it's taken seriously and go out to win.

3.) 04 Jan 2019 14:05:01
This is r best opportunity to win the league for 30 years, yes I would rest players for the fa cup.

4.) 04 Jan 2019 14:58:15
I would rest VVD robbo and all the front 3 at least v Wolves. Our aim IMO should be 3 wins v Brighton Palace and Leicester. That would guarantee us a 4pt lead at least at the end of Jan in the league. We may still beat Wolves but I would not be diasappointed if we didnt. City have the carabao semis 2 legs (albeit v Burton) and the Final. I would also hope they go deep into FA cup and CL and that would distract/ tire City in the title run in. I really feel we should put all our eggs in one basket, we are in a great position it is not worth risking injury/ fatigue by putting out our best 11 in FA Cup.

5.) 04 Jan 2019 15:04:11
Approach and play every game with 100% committment regardless of the competition.

6.) 04 Jan 2019 15:57:43
We have lots of experience and depth upfront and in midfield so I’d happily rotate there and start with Mané, Sturridge and Shaq. Midfield of Keita, Hendo, Lallana should be plenty competitive. The trickier piece is in defence (where we probably need to rotate the most but have the least cover) . I’d go Moreno, Lovren, Philips and Fabinho. It’s a risk but we need to give our FBs and VVD a rest.

7.) 04 Jan 2019 17:04:24
Wolves are a fantastic team who will probably see the FA Cup as their big chance of a trophy. It is not inconceivable that wolves win the FA Cup. I think if we rest big players we could get beat. Is the game away? If so we can't rest players. If its at home maybe rest one or two. League is the fans priority but the players probably see the European Cup as the priority.

It's the FA Cup. Biggest knockout competition. We need to take it seriously. This is why we have big squads.

16 Oct 2018 14:48:28
For a bit of fun I'd like to ask everyone, if they could only pick two liverpool squads since the premier league started which two squads would u choose? And also from your squads what would be your starting 11? For example, I picked the 2007/ 08 squad and the current squad and my starting 11 would be,
Alisson
Carragher
Van Dijk
Agger
Mascherano
Gerrard
Alonso
Firmino
Salah
Mane
Torres.

1.) 16 Oct 2018 15:12:19
Current Squad and 07/ 08

Allison Finnan Hypia Van Dijk Riise- Gerrard Alonso- Salah Firmino Mane- Torres.

2.) 16 Oct 2018 17:48:33
Alisson, Finnan, Van Dijk, Agger, Robertson, Gerrard, Alonso, Milner (on current form, Keita or the ox in the long term), salah, Suarez, Mane.

I’d say alisson, salah and mane are the easiest choices. Liverpool have had some shocking wingers. Purely on talent alone Suarez makes my list, but if we’re talking about overall contribution, replace him with firmino.

3.) 16 Oct 2018 17:53:22
Got to admit, my team would be very similar to yours, Oubaas.

Only difference is I reckon the balance of Gomez (being speedy) with VVD probably works better.

I can't decide between Finnan (finshed article) and TAA (higher bar, still learning) also.

I would probably go with our current back 4, and that's certainly NOT something I would have even contemplated 12 months ago!

How far we've come in that area in such a short space of time:

Clyne/ Lovren/ Matip/ Moreno to TAA/ Gomez/ VVD/ Robbo.

Light years ahead!

4.) 16 Oct 2018 17:52:12
I'll go 2011/ 2012 and it's a difficult choice between the 2007/ 08 squad, the 2005/ 06 squad (which did win the ucl, despite being a weaker squad on paper) and the current crop.

I'll go

Alisson
Robertson van diike agger carragher
Gerrard Henderson. Coutinio
Salah suarez sturridge.

What a team!

(Danny agger did still play for us in 2012 right? )

5.) 16 Oct 2018 18:55:41
Agger was still at the club up to 2014, iirc, Mane. Carra (particularly circa 2012 when he'd been playing CB for 7 years) at right back to accommodate him though?

Anyway, I'd go current side plus 08/ 09.

Starting XI would be:

Reina
Alexander-Arnold
Carragher
van Dijk
Aurelio
Alonso
Henderson
Salah
Mane
Gerrard
Firmino

Before anyone asks, I don't think it's reasonable to judge Allison against the best keeper we had in the Premier League era (although he's not exactly got massive competition there) after only a few games. I suspect by the end of the season I'd put him ahead of Reina.

6.) 16 Oct 2018 20:08:53
04/ 05 and 11/ 12.

Reina
Finnan, Carragher, Hyypia, Riise
Maxi, Alonso, Gerrard
Kuyt, Suarez, Garcia

Only because both teams won trophies.

7.) 17 Oct 2018 10:40:57
Current and 13/ 14

GK: Allison
RB: TAA
CB: Gomez
CB: VVD
LB: Robertson
CM: Milner
CM: Gerrard
RW: Salah
CF: Firmino
LW: Coutinho
ST: Suarez

Bench: Sturridge, Mane, Lucas, Keita, Agger, Flannagan, Mignolet.

8.) 17 Oct 2018 13:16:31
07/ 08 and the current squad in a 4231

Alisson
Finnan
Carragher
Van Dijk
Riise

Alonso
Gerrard

Salah
Firmino
Mane

Torres.

9.) 17 Oct 2018 15:44:39
And now for the worst or it just didn't work out for

Bogdan
konchesky josemi kavarme Piechniek
poulson diomede carter
cheyrou Dundee El hadji diouf.

10.) 17 Oct 2018 17:02:58
It's a tough question. I'd like to have hypia and vvd in the same team.

17 Aug 2018 12:34:48
Monday night will be a tough test. Palace away has always been a tight game for us and I expect them to be right up for it after their opening day win and Zaha news. Only this season there is a difference, instead of me being a nervous wreck always thinking the negative, I'm more looking forward to the challenge with excitement and optimism. Don't fear any other team this year, believe we r the real deal. Probably best liverpool squad I've seen.

1.) 17 Aug 2018 13:14:43
No need to fear the game, every other fan feared the WH game (for some odd reason), look how that panned out. We'll rip them a new one.

2.) 17 Aug 2018 14:56:16
I think that Henderson will come back into the starting 11 for maybe Milner, not like Milner didn’t play well or anything last week. Just think that Hendo’s pace means he can got out quicker to cover our full backs when Palace break with Zaha.

3.) 17 Aug 2018 15:44:48
I’d be surprised if Klopp changed the midfield considering how well they did. But if he does, I imagine it’ll be Wijnaldum for Henderson or Fabinho instead of Milner. Wijnaldum played deeper last week and Milner was superb. Can’t wait for the game.

4.) 17 Aug 2018 15:54:02
I think there will be a constant rotation between Hendo, Milner, Wijnaldum and Fabinho for the 2 midfield berths throughout the season. And with Lallana being kept (and Shaqiri bought as well), it should not suprise anyone if they both make appearances as subs or as starters, as well. It's a long season across 4 different competitions.

5.) 17 Aug 2018 16:29:57
Hendos pace? Is he quicker than Milner? I think it will be keita, Milner and Fab covering.

6.) 17 Aug 2018 16:55:27
Maybe pace was the wrong word to use to describe Henderson, but I think he does get about the pitch a little quicker than milner.

7.) 17 Aug 2018 18:14:27
Same as West Ham, i'd love anyone to give me a reason to drop any of them 3 lads. Especially with 8 days rest.

8.) 17 Aug 2018 19:01:17
Cause different team pose different threats, Palace will have a lot more pace in their attack than West Ham had. I think that Henderson is a little quicker than Milner, so I’d rotate Henderson for Milner. But only my opinion, if it’s the same as West Ham I’d be happy. Whole squad seem to be on great form.

9.) 17 Aug 2018 22:42:52
Roro I know what you mean but I think it’s Hendo’s anticipation that sets him apart from our other midfielders. If you watch him he’s already on the move to stop the break before it happens and has an uncannot knack of being in the right place at the right time. If he did have pace to go with it he would be some player!

10.) 18 Aug 2018 01:15:58
Dont drop players when they've given no reason to be dropped! Only leads to disharmony. none of the 3 midfielders, after their performance in a 4-0 win, deserve to be dropped.

10 Aug 2018 00:37:31
Think shaqiri will become an important player for us, especially at Anfield. Teams will come and park the bus and leave no space in behind which will basically nullify our speed in attack.
Thats when we need shaqiri's creativity and imagination to link up with front three, and also just hit one from 25 30 yards.
Roll on Sunday till we get started, can't wait. Ynwa.

That Chelsea team yesterday were woeful. I would rather be in our position than in cities so they should be the ones worrying.

I don’t know about mk, but imo it wasn’t nerves tonite it was our midfield. Too much space and lack of creativity, personally I would have replaced keita and lallana sooner with camacho and shaqiri but as a whole we didn’t do well tonite. The loss of gini and Hendo really hurt us, but hey on to the next one.
