Eds,

With the possibility of still signing Fekir, we have a potential over-stocking of the midfield on our hands.

In your own opinion, who would you let go and who do you think letting go might be a mistake?

Romeo IN Liverpool

{Ed0333's Note - I would let go of Gini and Lalana, while we can get our money back on them. For me they are now surplus and for sure not at the required level. We have a beautiful quartet of midfielders that on paper compliment each other. Fab, Keith, AOC & Hendo and Milner who I’m expecting to play less. I’m sure at any one time only three of those five will play so two midfielders to deputise for the starting three will be enough. For the first time since the Rafa days we really do have a filthy midfield. Add Fekir, the 3 amigos and we are gonna be the hottest chick in the club. Fekir is going to be the missing piece as he’s the silky hammer we need to get him at all costs or a player of that ilk.

1.) 14 Jul 2018 23:58:05
Good answer ed0333!

I dunno though, while I agree that we could still get our money back on them now, definitely a profit on gini surely.

But only two spare midfielders? I dunno, ox is still injured and if we get an injury in there it means we have no one to come on. I think one of those two will leave this summer, probably gini although I thought it would be lallana and I think we will sell lallana in January. We need him with the Ox out.

Although if we sign fekir then I think we will sell lallana. It's a shame, Adam Lallana should have a Premier league medal and could have had a ucl medal. I'll be sad to see either of them leave to be honest.

2.) 15 Jul 2018 00:42:43
For me it would be a mid of Keita, Fekir and Fab. If we get Fekir. That way we have a defensive mid a box to box and a creative one.

3.) 15 Jul 2018 00:46:30
Bravo ed, great response.

4.) 15 Jul 2018 08:05:21
Loved that reply Ed0333. And you talk as if Fekir is nailed on lol.

5.) 15 Jul 2018 08:50:23
phwoooaaaaarrrrhhhh do like me a bit of that midfield.

6.) 15 Jul 2018 09:24:43
I agree Ed, Fabinho, Keita, Fekir, Hendo, Milner and Ox when fit, Backed up by youngsters Jones and Camacho, as a balance of quality, Experience and youth. I appreciate what Lalana and Gini have done for the club, but if they want to play regular we should let them move on.

7.) 15 Jul 2018 09:44:54
No one in our midfield now is as good as alonso, he was so important too us, when he left the whole ass fell out from underneath us took us a when too recover after that.

8.) 15 Jul 2018 10:49:41
I don't know what everyone else has been watching. Lallana was injuryed all of last season. The season before having been moved to centre midfield he was probably the best player over the season (defo top 2).
I don't think Klopp would want him to leave at all.

9.) 15 Jul 2018 09:45:50
Great response, Ed esp. us being "the hottest chick in the club" with Fekir being hopefully signed. As for Wiji and Lallana, I would keep Wiji and sell Lallana. I think Lallana's time at LFC has passed as we have improved a lot from the team he was thriving in. A bit harsh on him BUT that is the nature of the beast. Wiji, I would keep except of course, he wants to leave to get more first team football. We shall see.

{Ed0333's Note - thanks mate but I can’t concur with regards to Gino. I really don’t see his contribution to us. I know people say he does an effective job but it goes unnoticed, I must be Andrea bocelli because I seldom see it. By all accounts we’re listening to offers for him but no one is biting at the price we want. I think playing time for him will be limited next season and his value will depreciate come this time next year. Sell now. Have a good day mate.

10.) 15 Jul 2018 23:18:02
Keita fab and fekir red one?

No Hendo? I highly doubt it. Neither fab nor keita speak English yet, not sure about fekir. I don't think it's going to be a complete overhaul. I think Hendo more than deserves his place. Good god he's the captain. Our new players may be very very promising, it will take a while for them to fully intergrate and feel at home at lfc.

I dare say one day we will feild a midfield of keita fabinho and fekir but it won't be first game.

I reckon it will be

Hendo. Fabinho

Salah. Keita Mane

Fekir

Firmino

Imagine that lot coming at you!

Oh and have three at the back.

Hello Eds;

Just a quick question. Jordan Henderson has been receiving a lot of praise from all angles in the ongoing world cup tournament.

What has he been doing differently that has earned him such glowing ratings.

Would you care to delve a bit deeper?

Romeo IN Liverpool

{Ed001's Note - I don't think he has done anything differently, it is just that people are putting aside club loyalties and seeing how good he actually is.}

1.) 11 Jul 2018 12:41:31
Exactly what I wrote in an article the other day Ed. The only difference is people are noticing what he does and praising it. He's been doing it for years; playing with passion, covering for others, playing first time forward passes etc. It was a total myth that he never did all these things.

2.) 11 Jul 2018 13:28:29
Spot on MK and Ed. Hendo is not doing anything different than what he has been doing for us under Klopp. It is only now that he is in an England team playing fairly well that he is getting "unaninmous" credit for his play. I bet you if England had been dumped out earlier, you would not be hearing any of the accolade you are hearing about him now.

10 Jul 2018 12:20:50
Steven Gerrard in an interview once said he believed he left LFC too soon. He would have loved to play for Jurgen Klopp before retiring.

In a roller coaster season like the immediate past one, Do you think his presence would have gotten us a win at the champions league final?

Your thoughts, guys.

Romeo IN Liverpool

1.) 10 Jul 2018 12:34:55
His legs had gone by time klopp got here. Would have been nice for him to be a 2x winner of champions league though.

2.) 10 Jul 2018 12:42:32
I don't think so, no. Obviously a club legend but all he would have been able to offer was a "Presence" on the sideline. Too much of our goal scoring threat was removed by Salah's injury (and to some extent the Ox's) and Karius had an unfortunate game. He wouldn't have changed that.

3.) 10 Jul 2018 12:47:46
His presence would've probably prevented us getting that far. He would've expected to play the big European games and he'd only have held us back. His legs went in 2013/ 14. If anything he left a year late, not a year early. Remember the 6-1 loss to Stoke when everyone was trying to give the ball to him? He was finished about 5 years ago mate. Legend that he is, there is nothing he could've done to save us in that final. Maybe the Gerrard in his prime would've won it single handedly, but not the one that was clinging on to his career.

4.) 10 Jul 2018 12:59:49
Agree 100% with MK Scouser, I felt in his last few years that he was starting to hinder the development of other players as he had so much presence on the pitch. They almost became afraid of making a decision without his approval.

5.) 10 Jul 2018 15:20:40
Sadly no. We actually went up a level when he left, similar to coutinio leaving. All play went through stevie as it did pipco.

I love Gerrard with all my heart but you have to be realistic. He probably could've done a year or two lower down the league. But that would've been horrible for us and him.

6.) 10 Jul 2018 17:33:17
SG would not last 20 mins in the high octane system we played at that time under Klopp. He could barely handle it under BR.

10 Jul 2018 12:19:10
Hi Eds, not a transfer question but a thought that has been in my head since Steven Gerrard retired.

Do you think he might have improved more if he had joined Chelsea when they came for him? If he had played with the likes of Lampard, Drogba, Ballack etc do you think he would have become better?

Reason for asking is this: We see Gerrard as a very good player and he did come off good before he retired but I have always had the niggling thought that he did not entirely reach the peak of his talents before he hanged his boots.

Romeo IN Liverpool

{Ed001's Note - impossible to say mate. He could have regressed without the extra 10% of playing for the club he loves.}

1.) 10 Jul 2018 12:44:56
I seem to remember Gerrard mentioning multiple times that he felt Mourinho could have gotten more out of him.

2.) 10 Jul 2018 12:48:58
I honestly think that we (and Stevie G) would've kicked on even more if we hadn't been sold to Waldorf and Stadler.

Some proper backing to Rafa and the rest of the squad and all of our stars would have raised their games.

Don't know if DIC would've worked, as they were hit by the recession too, but they were backed (I think? ) by the royal family, who presumably have ridden the recession without losing much sleep!

{Ed001's Note - if DIC had bought us, ADUG would never have bought Man City as they wouldn't compete against each other. ADUG took the plan that DIC had for us and expanded it, all except the sale bit. DIC intended to sell once the stadium and infrastructure was completed.}

3.) 10 Jul 2018 13:03:42
Waldorf and Statler I love it definitely two grade A Muppets.

4.) 10 Jul 2018 13:03:56
Yeah Eamon, could have turned him into the Bus driver. :)

5.) 10 Jul 2018 13:07:56
Dayum, Ed001, that makes me feel even worse!

Citeh could still have been bouncing between the Championship and the Premiership and we would've been pilloried as the "Billy Big Bucks" whilst we waltzed to our 3 EPL title on the bounce!

But I'd rather we do things the way we have *through gritted teeth*

:D :D.

6.) 10 Jul 2018 15:23:28
Come on, no way. Mourinuo plays boring football. Hate the brodge or not, he tried to play good football and Gerrard flourished under him.

7.) 10 Jul 2018 16:01:56
Like Torres improved when he went to Chelsea? 😄.

8.) 10 Jul 2018 17:47:32
Whilst it’s sad to think we could have had some serious financial backing at a time when we could of pushed on, I wouldn’t change it for what we have now, good owners and most importantly we are still at our home.

Wouldn’t trade all the money in the world and flash new stadium (ie Arsenal) for Anfield, chuffed that the club chose to redevelop rather than move.

Hey Eds;

Seems things are a bit quiet on the transfer side for L'pool! You think we are struggling with getting players?

You get a little worried when clubs are signing players and it seems your club have somehow gone quiet.

Romeo IN Liverpool

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool has agreed the signing of Keita and Fabinho. It seems that it has been well publicised that Liverpool were close to signing Fekir and they have been looking to adding a goalkeeper as well. As such, I have no idea what your concern is.}

1.) 27 Jun 2018 11:01:12
Since this time last year we have signed 5 players for our first 11. We need a couple more that's all Romeo.

2.) 27 Jun 2018 11:43:38
Agreed, bare in mind that German coaches don't like buying loads of players. They want to coach players and bring through youth.
Could Woodburn, Brewster, Wilson make the step up? Hopefully.
I don't see Klopp signing too many more anyway. We have the 2 new lads coming into the midfield, maybe a goalkeeper and a new number 10.

3.) 27 Jun 2018 14:43:09
Things are moving at a slow pace due to the world cup most likely, we'll likely see things pick up once it's over, or the countries that have players we're targeting are out.

{Ed002's Note - And transfer windows not being open.}

4.) 27 Jun 2018 15:28:28
Oh dear oh dear, one of THOSE posts.

But Ed002, you mean we shouldn't all press the nearest panic button while simultaneously throwing in the towel and writing off Liverpool's chances of being anything but awful relegation fodder? Then start trolling and cursing the clueless owners and scouts because other clubs are signing players, because surely it's their responsibility to put a stop to that sort of thing, no?

Using a 4-2-3-1 formation, I tried to put together all the senior squad together to see if we have gaps. I realize we have a glut of players in certain positions.

So in addition to Ed002's comment on Mignolet and Wijnaldum (although I would have preferred Lallana instead), Markovic, Origi, should be allowed to leave. Ings would also be on the list, since he needs first team football. With Firmino, Sturridge? and Solanke, Brewster will be a distant backup. If we bring in another forward then either Him or Solanke should also be sent out on loan.

Ben Woodburn may also struggle for game time even with League cup, so I think he should be considered for a loan option as well.

Do not forget we are still thinking of the possibility of Fekir, if this is so, then the midfield will be saturated.

Not sure you support LFC, if you do you would not have said that.

No way in a million years will England losing a WC final be equal to LFC losing an ECL final. We have non-England fans supporting LFC, how do you handle that?

I would take a continuous run in an ECL final over an England WC win any-day any-time.

Except we sign Fekir we do not have a world cup winner in the France team. Not even technically!

Wake up guys, smell the coffee.

Macca may have a different opinion but I think we will stick with Karius for another season. He looked good towards the end of last season and could come off good this season.

Lovren has been a huge hit at the world cup so far. If he brings that form into the season alongside VVD, then we have a CB pairing that could help us well into the season. Not forgetting critical contributions from the likes of Alexander-Arnold and Robertson.

Can we have a sketch of his face and send to all media houses in Russia. I suspect he is holed up in a boarding house in St. Petersburg.
