Hi Eds hope all is good? I really enjoyed both the performances of Gomez at right back today and TAA in the two prior games. Do you think that TAA has it in his locker yet to play in the centre of midfield if required with Gomez playing right back? He is full of energy and I know he has played there at times in the youth teams - thanks guys.

{Ed001's Note - yes, he could do it, but we don't really need him in there at the moment.}

He'll be a centre midfielder in the future. Kids rarely get a game there but he'll be a good Un.

Hi Eds hope you are all well.

I have been reading a lot of your comments re tapping up and the rules associated with when a club can speak with the agent and or the player.

Are there any players who don't have agents and therefore represent themselves and if so what are the rules surrounding them?

Thanks in advance.

{Ed025's Note - not in the top echelon robbie..

1.) 05 Jul 2017 13:51:27
Paul Scholes would have been the last top top player in the Prem without an agent right?

2.) 05 Jul 2017 14:02:58
I actually asked this a few years ago. Ed002 mentioned that Nikolas Anelka didn't have an agent.

Hi eds hope you are all well.

Just wondered if you were aware of any more talk about investment into the club either a small stake or a full buy out. It seems to have gone quiet in the press which might actually mean things are going on in the background the proper way rather than through the press?

Great site and thanks for any insight.

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of anything specific right now Robbie. The club are still keen on a naming rights deal for the stadium.}

Thanks for the reply ed02 - are you aware of any of the possible interested parties? Hopefully they keep away from gambling and alcohol companies.

{Ed002's Note - Not right now.}

Great site Eds. Is there a possibility that the lack of new CEO until the summer might be linked to new investment, either part or full takeover - or is it purely down to the right person not being available until then?

The reason for the question is that if there were to be new investment in the club would they want their own man at the helm?

Thanks in advance.

{Ed002's Note - (a) No, Mike Gordon is assuming to role. (b) If there were a takeover then yes.}

1.) 05 Feb 2017 10:22:00
Thanks Ed, didn't realise Mike Gordon had been announced.

{Ed002's Note - Who said he had been announced?}

2.) 05 Feb 2017 10:43:33
Ah I see, thanks Ed, without a crystal ball do you think he is the right man for the job?

{Ed002's Note - He has been effectively running the club for some time.}

3.) 05 Feb 2017 11:22:12
It was in the papers yesterday that the identity of the new CEO is to remain secret until he's announced, it's not a secret on here though, thanks ed002 :)

{Ed002's Note - The club is in the midst of reshaping the management team and Mike Gordon will continue to have the pointed hat on - regardless of job title.}

4.) 05 Feb 2017 12:39:38
Pointed hat? With a capital D on it? 😁.

UefaLona - I get no pleasure out of playing him full back. my point is when we play against some of the teams that park the bus i feel that we could do with full backs who can beat a man get to the byline and cross from a position much further up the pitch. We don't struggle against the top teams and have no problem with Clyne in those games.

I know a number of people don't like or understand this signing but I think it adds up. A few years back he was really highly rated and I remember watching him be Englands best player in a couple of games prior to the World Cup. Since then he has stagnated but then so have a number of the Arsenal players.

I also think that maybe Klopp is thinking about converting him to a full back position much in the same way that Man Utd have done with Valencia because as strong as Clyde is defensively he tends to get a lot of ball against the teams that pack out their defence.

I think we will bid for him still even after the apology. The way we have gone about our business has been both embarrassing and underhand. His position is obviously untenable at Southampton but I personally believe it will go the same way as the Ashley Cole to Chelsea. I suspect ending with Southampton putting in a complaint and us getting heavily fined or with a future transfer embargo. Personally think we should take the medicine and move on, please show some honesty for once.

I agree ed, I think Brandt would have been great. Do you think Mane may return to left side, a position he has played previously? Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - I would hope not as he has been successful on the right.}

I think I understand, they haven't even decided if there will be an investigation yet so carry on as usual (apart from don't break the rules)

I agee with ed01 that we miss mane as the only player who runs in behind being an issue. I also think that because we are so narrow up top we are really reliant on our fullback offering real quality in the final third as they get plenty of the ball. Clyne again yesterday whilst solid enough defensively (albeit against zero attacking from Saints) he really struggled to deliver a single quality final pass.

All too often Clyne plays the ball square or backwards which to be fair might be partly due to having no third man runners. Also Milner has become really predictable and gets two thirds of the way up the pitch cuts inside and crosses from too deep to trouble the opponent.

With the cover we are playing with in centre midfield we really need our fullbacks pushing on but they also require the quality once in possession. The first substitution I would have made yesterday was TAA on for Clyne. I'd be tempted in the final game to play both TAA and Moreno.
