Hi ed02 was wondering if you could do a transfer update on the players who could possibly leave the club. Have we had any approaches enquiries for the following. Bogdan ward wisdom illori skrtel Alberto ibe balotelli markovic Allen Lucas canos yesil benteke moreno. Also has it been confirmed if free agents teixeira and toure are gone.

Redrolo

{Ed002's Note - A bit out of date but Rangers are taking Rossiter. Swansea approached Liverpool in respect of taking Joe Allen on loan in January - it was rebuffed then but interest may exist in the summer. Milan may well take Balotelli but fear that they may need to renegotiate the price. Fenerbahce will look to sign Liverpool’s Lazar Markovic in the summer after a successful loan period but the player will look to discuss his future with the club - and he wants guarantees (I don't know if the club will give them or not). Trabzonspor want to take Yesil from Liverpool and have already made an approach to the club. Sinclair still interests Watford but that may drift away - and Enrique will leave. Teixeira has no future at Liverpool and will leave with interest from Sousa (but no agreement with Fiorentina) and Zenit who are already looking at the market and sorting out another critical roll at the club. Interest in Sakho and Coutinho has gone for now.}

Hi ed02 I see you mentioned Rico the sevilla goalkeeper as perhaps a bogdan replacement. Is he someone we have been scouting a bit and how attainable would he be . He seems to be first choice with sevilla and only renewed his contract recently. Any further info would be appreciated.

Redrolo

{Ed002's Note - Sevilla's Sergio Rico has watched by Liverpool in several ganes this season. There is interest in bringing in a goakkeeper and he might be an option.}

1.) 08 Apr 2016 20:26:30
What do you think of him, Ed?

{Ed002's Note - I don't think about young men.}

Hi ed01 transfer update?

Redrolo

{Ed001's Note - right now there is no one in the squad that is untouchable. Klopp wants to thin down the squad and, while there are a few players he would like to keep hold of, there is no one he is desperate to hang on to if a big offer came in. So any plans on recruitment might need to change quickly, as players leave, though most will not need replacing as our squad is bloated.

Klopp would like to build around the Brazilian pair of Coutinho and Firmino, with Stewart, Flanagan and a few of the other youngsters also highly unlikely to be sold. But ridiculous offers will be accepted for anyone.

The priority is (in no particular order) goalkeeper, left back and a centre back, with a wide player also wanted. Obviously there are other positions being looked at, just in case someone important leaves, but, as they are not priority there is little point me discussing them here. I will just stick to the four main priorities.

So starting with keeper, these are ones we have looked at, that I know of, though some are highly unlikely:
Mattia Perin (Genoa)
Bernd Leno (Leverkusen)
Marc-Andre ter Stegen (Barcelona)
Fernando Muslera (Galatasaray)
Jasper Cillessen (Ajax)
Steve Mandanda (Marseille)
Ralf Fahrmann (Schalke)
Salvatore Sirigu (PSG)
Ron-Robert Zieler (Hannover)
Timo Horn (Koln)
Loris Karius (Mainz)
Matz Sels (Gent)
Oliver Baumann (Hoffenheim)
Perin seems unlikely, he is most likely to be the Buffon replacement at Juventus. Mandanda is out of contract in the summer, if I remember rightly, so he could well end up being the chosen keeper. Though, this being Klopp, he might well go for someone completely out of the blue, such as Kalinic of Hajduk Split or Christian Mathenia of Darmstadt. Both are well known to Klopp and his staff, so would not require the extensive scouting that gives away interest, and both had been looked at by Dortmund while he was in charge and tracked since.

Centre backs is interesting, with Mats Hummels being impossible to rule out as an option. I doubt we would be looking to spend the kind of money it would take to get him, but he would be interested. He did an interview for BeIn Sports talking about how wonderful Klopp is and how great it was working for him recently, so it is not just hearsay either. Still, we have shown no sign of interest yet, but then we would not need to scout him. Personally I would say that it is not happening, but it is an outside chance. Though it seems more likely Klopp would go for Neven Subotic, if he were to pick someone up from his old club, as he thinks he is more physically suited to the Prem.
Shkrodran Mustafi and Aymen Abdennour (Valencia)
Ezequiel Garay (Zenit)
Konstantinos Manolas (Roma)
Stefan de Vrijj (Lazio)
Aleksandr Dragovic (Kyiv)
Nicolas N'Koulou (Marseille)
Juan Jesus (Inter)
Winston Reid (West Ham)
John Anthony Brooks (Hertha)
Martin Caceres (Juventus)
Joel Veltman (Ajax)
There are a few in South American football that have been suggested to Klopp, such as Eder Balanta and Hugo Nervo, but they seem highly unlikely to happen. Especially Balanta, who has so many clubs chasing him. We were also looking at Kevin Wimmer of Spurs, while he was out of the side, but it looks like the chance of picking him up have gone now he is playing regularly.

Left backs options do include some players, such as Juan Jesus mentioned above, who can also play centre half, which tells you how little Klopp feels he can rely on the fitness of Sakho.
Jose Luis Gaya (Valencia)
Lucas Digne (Roma)
Jetro Willems (PSV)
Raphael Guerreiro (Lorient)
Sead Kolasinac (Schalke)
Arthur Masuaku (Olympiakos)
Terence Kongolo (Feyenoord)
Jonny Castro (Celta)
Andrew Robertson (Hull)
Ali Adnan (Udinese)
Jin-Su Kim (Hoffenheim)
Filip Mladenovic (Koln)
Gaya to me looks very similar to Moreno, slightly quicker, better delivery, but lightweight. Jonny is more of a utility player who can fill in across the backline, so is probably being considered as a back up option, I would think. I haven't really seen enough of the rest, and I am sure I have missed some, such as the really difficult to spell lad Kolodjziek (sp??) who I am not sure if he is a left back or centre back, having never seen him play.}

1.) 29 Mar 2016 08:37:20
Thanks for the detailed update ed.

2.) 29 Mar 2016 10:10:02
Top update Ed. interesting you mentioned Kalamic. He looks a decent prospect and is a man mountain of a keeper.

3.) 29 Mar 2016 10:38:12
Who would you personally go for Ed001?

Thanks.

{Ed001's Note - I don't know mate, I haven't really looked at as many games as I usually do of late. The sites keep me too busy, so I have not been able to watch most of these players.}

4.) 29 Mar 2016 12:48:52
Hi Ed how about the attackers and Wingers?

{Ed001's Note - how about them?}

5.) 29 Mar 2016 13:46:24
Isn't mustafi wanted by bayern, ed1? And have we scouted or are we cruelly interested?

{Ed001's Note - last I heard he was keen on a return to England to prove himself. Which is what spawned a whole host of clubs to watch him. We have scouted Valencia a few times, watching both centre halves and the left back. Considering how badly they are doing, I can't see anyone being impressed with them. Though personally I quite like what I have seen of Mustafi.}

6.) 29 Mar 2016 14:17:40
Yeah when I have seen Valencia play this season they haven't really looked troubled at the back but just failed to create anything or add a touch of class. Although obviously conceding 8 in a game, even to Bracelona, doesn't say a lot for a defence.
Mustafi impressed me when I saw him for Germany a year or two back.

7.) 29 Mar 2016 15:32:17
I wouldn't mind mandanda on a free at all. He is a top quality keeper and is quite underrated. He would command his box better than ter stegen would that's for sure.

8.) 29 Mar 2016 16:36:02
I'd go for Ziegler, he's got a great name.

9.) 29 Mar 2016 18:29:25
Digne and de vrij player who we were linked with in the past caught my eyes

After Hummel's of course.

10.) 29 Mar 2016 19:11:49
I`ve watched Mandanda for years. great shot stopper and organizer BUT is quite poor at crosses BUT very authoritative and is a leader and capt. of OM for the past 4 years. Not sure he would improve us tho BUT I`ll be ok if he came.

11.) 29 Mar 2016 20:06:16
Mandanda is very poor on crosses and doesn't really command his area, reminds me of Barthez. Didn't rate him either!

12.) 29 Mar 2016 20:37:46
Hey ed, cheers for the wonderful update! Most of the goalkeeper names make me increasingly optimistic!
Could you be bothered to share the list of offensive targets we are monitoring as well? It seems rather clear that we will be adding a player for the attack, though with Marcovic coming back, and Danny Ings, as well, it needs to be only one, if at all - we are stocked with good offensive midfielders as it is. The media seem to be assured said addition is to be Gotze. I am not sure how optimistic I am about this, he does not strike me as any different from what Couts and Lallana offer out wide, while Firmino needs to play in the centre. What I do seem to recall is that he was rather good for set pieces, which might be a huge asset, but I haven't really paid attention to him since he betrayed his boyhood club and turned tail to their rivals.

{Ed001's Note - I am not aware of any interest from us in Goetze, it is him talking about moving to us.}

13.) 29 Mar 2016 22:49:37
If I had to pick a GK, it would be Timo Horn.

14.) 30 Mar 2016 02:46:01
Ed I meant any update about possible interest on wingers and Attackers?

{Ed001's Note - oh ok, no not yet, sorry.}

15.) 30 Mar 2016 04:38:37
Ed001 - Is that Kolodziejczak from Sevilla that you were talking about? I think he started out as LB with Lyon but has moved centrally with Sevilla.

{Ed001's Note - yes exactly, I have no idea which position we are considering him for.}

16.) 30 Mar 2016 08:24:42
Ter Stegen.
Digne.
And Hummels would be excellent but a long shot.

17.) 30 Mar 2016 11:22:49
Ed, do you know for a fact Gotze is keen on us?

{Ed002's Note - Goetze is a real nuisance in that he will say things to the media and that leads to him uipsetting the clubs - it has happened with Bayern and with Dortmund. The situation is that Goetze wants out of Bayern Munich as he is now a fringe player - maybe that will change with Ancelotti. Juventus and Dortmund know what Bayern Munich are asking. Goetze talks of Klopp and how they stay in touch so may well be open to a move. If Liverpool are interested then they need to contact Bayern - which they have not done at this time. Perhaps they will, but for now no.}

18.) 30 Mar 2016 12:33:17
To be honest, as long as the players ahead of him in the pecking order stay fit, I can't see it changing with Ancelotti.

I have almost no doubt that Liverpool are interested. Typically reliable Liverpool journos have indicated so, plus someone I know who used to work for Liverpool has indicated the same. But I don't doubt your info that we haven't contacted Bayern.

19.) 01 Apr 2016 00:42:39
Thanks for the update ED001.

{Ed001's Note - you are welcome mate.}

Evening eds dissappointing end to season tonight for me we looked to be lacking a little mentally when the game turned second half anyway for me no point in dwelling on it, I am thinking about next season. Ed02 based on your info that we have been scouting left backs who in your opinion would be best choice to sign as someone who could be attainable would be ready for the first team and suit our style of play.

Redrolo

{Ed002's Note - Left Back:

Previously of interest to Manchester United and Spurs, Roma and Manchester City see Schalke's Sead Kolasinac as a target who both Chelsea and Liverpool have also had watched.

Lorient left-back Raphael Guerreiro has been of previous interest to Newcastle, Milan, Arsenal, PSG, Manchester City and Sampdoria. Marseille, Liverpool, Sunderland and Swansea have had watched the player this season. I understand from an Arsenal scout that they are looking again. Liverpool interest would certainly come to the fore if Moreno were to leave.

Fenerbahce and Caner Erkin again struggled in their discussions over extending his contract and the club accept this summer he will move on. Liverpool have certainly considered him in the past when Rodgers had scouts look at him. Chelsea, Stoke, Hannover 96, Everton, Arsenal and Roma have also had him watched in the past and a deal with Inter was previously scuppered by very high signing on fee and wage demands. However, Inter are confident that a deal can be done for this summer and that they will have the funds in place.

Leicester’s Ben Chilwell has been attracting the attention of a number of sides with Arsenal, Brighton & Hove Albion, Liverpool and Norwich all attending Huddersfield Town games to watch the loanee after he impressed in the academy last season. Spurs and Newcastle have also been keeping a watchful eye. However, to cover for an injury, Claudio Ranieri recalled Chilwell but matters are seemingly being taken out of his hands as Arsenal has made a formal approach to Leicester about a transfer. Leicester fought off that approach but will have to do the same in the summer.

Jonas Hector would be a very odd choice if Liverpool were interested, and I am not aware that they have declared any interest. He is very much a defender who doesn't get forward too often and that does not seem to fit the kopflose huhn style of play Klipperty prefers.

Out of contract in the summer, Besiktas' Ismail Koybasi is attracting the attention of Valencia and has been watched by Empoli, Shakhtar Donetsk and Dinamo Kiev. There is an unconfirmed suggestion by the player's representative that Manchester United and Liverpool are interested in him but I find that a little far-fetched.

Approaches to the MLS have been made by Genk, Reading and Shimizu S-Pulse in respect of LA Galaxy's Gyasi Zardes. I suspect the interest of Liverpool left with Rodgers. The Reading interest likely left with Stevie Clarke.

1.) 18 May 2016 23:45:00
Attracting players will be a problem after tonight.

Sadly that is the harsh reality of being 8th in the league and nothing else.
Losing two finals will count for nothing.

I like Klopp but his record at winning in finals is not good.

I have to say he may be with us for only two more seasons at best.

There are a number of possible scenarios.
It is all about money these days, unfortunately.

2.) 19 May 2016 00:18:59
His record is not flash no, can't argue that. But if our full backs and goalie could do what is required of them we would have won, it's that simple. I can't blame Klopp for the on pitch performances we saw, that lands squarely at the players feet.

3.) 19 May 2016 00:52:44
Not really klopps fault tonight. Maybe he could have brought on a midfielder at 2-1 to regain control, then origi once we got a foothold, but it's a brave call to take off an attacking player for a cm when losing. The team were rocked and everything he said at half time when out the window. In the end we had to go all out attack and he did, but it was too late.

30 Apr 2016 16:50:34
Another one for you ed01. Was it a tactic the other night of villarael to allow clyne as much space as he wanted almost happy to let him cross knowing he wouldn't find a red shirt. They were happy to defend there box with numbers and despite all our posesion never looked like scoring. They now have something to hold on to which could lead to us being frustrated. With that in mind I can't help thinking benteke could be important next week as a target in the box. Might force them into changing tactics.

Redrolo

{Ed001's Note - it is how they play, they defend narrow and concentrate on protecting their box. They do it no matter who they face.}

1.) 30 Apr 2016 19:22:39
Which is klopp y should play target man like benteke. Villareal cb are eating our crosses for breakfast.

{Ed001's Note - and having Benteke in would just make their job easier, as he does not move them about. That is why we went with players who move about, rather than a lump up front.}

30 Apr 2016 16:43:17
Hi ed01 your informed opinion on what you think likely will happen in the summer regarding centre backs. For me the bankers to be here are matip and lovren. Will skrtel and toure leave. Surely illori will finally go. Wisdom? . Gomez and Lucas as cover and what about sakho surely he will be banned and if he is do you go out and replace him now and sell him in a later window as has happened with other players caught doping . Unconfirmed reports that kolo May get an extension.

Redrolo

{Ed001's Note - I expect Toure to get another year now, Skrtel is available but I wonder if there will be anyone willing to match his wage demands. Ilori can go, sadly it is too late for him now. Wisdom was available for transfer and not seen as a centre back anyway. So it will be Lovren, Matip, Gomez, Lucas, Toure and Sakho (when he returns). That should be plenty.}

1.) 30 Apr 2016 16:59:31
Sky sports have stated that wisdom has returned back to Liverpool because of an injury for this seasons end.

{Ed001's Note - that is why I said was. Any plans are on hold until he recovers.}

2.) 30 Apr 2016 22:02:00
So Ed001 as of this moment (barring any unscrupulous revelations) you expect Sakho to remain at the club?

{Ed001's Note - yes.}

16 Apr 2016 15:06:26
Hi ed01 am intruiged to see what will happen come the summer with regards our squad and would love your opinions. If we are to go on and win the Europa fingers crossed due to injuries we are going to have to rely on some players who were perhaps playing for there futures a little or starters who fans and yourself have said need replacing to come through for us. Speculation of course but these could be migs clyne Moreno Lucas Allen Milner lallana benteke skrtel ibe. My point is that if we do go on to win it and these players prove to klopp much like sakho and lovren have already done will he be ruthless and replace them. To me he seems a very loyal manager who rewards hard work but my feeling is that over the course of a full season some of the above will let standards drop as we have seen .

Redrolo

{Ed001's Note - I would expect him to have an open mind and be open to players proving themselves good enough to stay. He will be ruthless, but only with those who have not proven themselves. If they then let us down in the future, they will be replaced. It is good management to allow players to work themselves into the team and a longer stay.}

16 Apr 2016 15:09:18
Question for u ed02 you mentioned recently that the club were facing 2 investigation into transfers or tapping up of players. Not sure if this was anything to do with gerrards book. Could you tell us what players deals they relate too and if found guilty what potential sanctions we face.

Redrolo

{Ed002's Note - No I didn't say that or anything like that at all.}

1.) 16 Apr 2016 20:00:18
Sorry ed I just dug up your post and it was in relation to a thread on zielinski and his recent interview and the tapping up of players. You said and I quote. It is the last thing the club want given they are already facing two UEFA charges which will be heard in May. Could you tell us please what cases the charges relate to and the possible sanctions.

{Ed002's Note - Right, the words are true regardless of your pitiful paraphrasing. I am not sure who said it was anything to do with "tapping up". If it is too complicated to understand that Liverpool are subject top two yet to be heard charges from UEFA best move on. I have explained that Liverpool will face two separate charges - and the date has been set for the hearing (May 9 as I recall but that may be wrong). This got covered previously.}

2.) 16 Apr 2016 21:03:54
Apologies ed all I was looking to know was what the charges are that the club was facing and the potential sanctions. I am sorry if this has been covered previously but as much as I love the site I just don't get the chance to get on here and catch up every day. Any information you could give would be appreciated.

{Ed002's Note - This has been dealt with - if you don't have the time to find it out you cannopt reasonably expect me to keep repeating myself.}

Just looked at it again you said it was never going to be easy with klopp and I suspect it will get bumpier when he adds some kids who will be overrun in Epl. Would love if you could elaborate please.
