Martin Skrtel's house in Woolton went up for sale yesterday so he's obviously on his way.

Its not exactly a secret he is leaving. The guy was on borrowed time the moment Klopp signed on the dotted line, and now Fenebahce president has confirmed Skrtel deal is nearly done.

Gomez looks a great prospect, thought Clyne looks solid , Ings and Milner working hard and tidy players. Lack of inspiration though in final third , Lallana overplays but a decent first half.

Same as last year then get to the final 3rd then the attack just fades away :/

First half offered little to suggest that anything learnt from last season. Still static up front and narrow through the middle. I like Lallana but Milner had to keep shouting at him to get wide as gave Gomez no support going forward. HJK had one chance and should have scored. Second half a bit better at least.

Better second half. Coutinho best player as normal. Take Lalana and Ings out for Firmino and Benteke,, and I think that'll be the team vs Stoke

We have such a great group of players, I will hate Brendan if he manages to somehow mess it up this season.

The Kovacic signing only makes sense if someone goes - although I like llallana he would be the one to make way.

Can't disagree we were lucky in the final but genuinely during that time I went into games, particularly in Europe, expecting us to win. We also beat some very good teams on the way to that final. Now I go into games with no expectation at all. Unfortunately for us we are a big club financially on a world stage, but there are four domestic clubs now bigger than us. During the period of time since we last won a league title there have usually only been two major competitors domestically. That says to me the major failings have come under previous managers/regimes when there was less competition, and now we have a manager who's learning on the job and owners whoa re also inexperienced in football terms.

You've got to wonder if there's more to come on the back room staff , manager included - strikes me as odd that its gone all quiet on the assistant position . Maybe it's a big name / big personality that's a direct threat to BRs position.

We are consistently in world top 10 of the financial league on turnover, but have consistently underachieved on the pitch since Benitez reign. We should still be able to attract top quality players and management if we rationalise the finances and focus on squad quality not quantity.Unless Arsenal or Man Utd have an implosion we're realistically fighting for fourth / fifth at best next season. We need an inspired signing up front , someone to come through from the academy in midfield or defence, nick a champions league spot and build from there in 2016/17.
