Is it me or is Solanke just terrible! Poor 1st touch and given the ball away so many times including the penalty. And missed a free header! Just saying.

1.) 22 Jul 2018 22:37:37
I don’t think he will ever make it here, but these games are useful for nothing but building up match fitness. Couldn’t care less who’s been good or in your words terrible.

Also, he’s what, 21?

2.) 22 Jul 2018 22:48:02
He's only a young lad, give him time.

3.) 22 Jul 2018 22:59:44
He has ability, that's not in question for me. He just seems to lack awareness and switches off too regularly. He tracks back well, and often puts in a decent defensive display but two seconds later he's passing the ball straight to the opposition.

Karius, I feel for the guy. His confidence is obviously shattered but I am absolutely elated we have alisson because he's been full of errors again in pre-season. I'm not convinced by him at all as a player.

4.) 22 Jul 2018 23:01:20
I think they are also good for fringe/ young players to build up confidence. But it can work the other way if you have a poor match.

5.) 22 Jul 2018 23:58:09
Never have rated Solanke. Looks like one of those kids who developed early and easily bullied his contemporaries without actually learning the game.

Still, it’s pre-season, can’t read too much into it.

6.) 23 Jul 2018 00:19:30
He is becoming quite good at missing clear chances.

7.) 23 Jul 2018 06:08:20
We wonder why the youngsters barely get a chance? if they can't get our support then they have bugger all. Solanke is only young he has plenty of time to step up, whether he will or not is another matter but we need to get behind the lad.

Part of me is happy young Wilson went back out on loan, if he kept at Liverpool, made a few mistakes/ had a few bad games people would be saying how he's not good enough for us. So many Liverpool fans are far too impatient with the younger lads but then in their next breath they'll say so and so should be given his chance! you can't make this up!

Like Gomez last season, he made a few shocking mistakes and suddenly he should be loaned out! mistakes help them learn more, it's all part of it, frustrating at the time sure but we have to be patient with the younger ones, I think if we were then maybe they'd be given more of a chance.

Solanke has quality, he just needs to find it on a consistent basis but that's quite difficult considering we don't see much of him, I hope we can see him more next season, the more he plays the better he'll be imo. I'd put him before Ings and Sturridge any day.

Hi Ed's and everyone, So reading all the post's ref transfer's recently, I would love to know the Ed's and others View on our Best Transfer we have made a) in the last 10 years b) Ever

I think a) Suarez b) Dalglish.

RedinCa

{Ed002's Note - I would not be surprised to see Van Dijk turn out to eventually be the pick of recent years else the pre-runt Suarez. Going right back I would think Dalglish.}

1.) 13 Jun 2018 20:51:07
Agreed on Dalglish but Suarez? after all he put the club through he'd be one of my last picks. I think in the last 10 years, it's hard to say but I'm thinking Firmino right now.

2.) 13 Jun 2018 20:51:32
a) Xabi Alonso although selling him was also amongst the worst transfer decisions we've ever made

b) got to be King Kenny.

3.) 13 Jun 2018 20:59:14
Zspecialone I think Alonso signed in 2004 mate. He'd of definitely been one of my pics if it'd of been in the last 10 years.

4.) 13 Jun 2018 21:05:48
picks*.

5.) 13 Jun 2018 21:07:41
a) Salah. I don't see how you can argue with this with last season and all of the records he broke.

b) I agree with Dalglish.

6.) 13 Jun 2018 21:12:29
Salah could be our best recent signing if he hangs around long enough and continues his great form and King Kenny is a shoe in from way back. Top player!

7.) 13 Jun 2018 21:14:18
Barnes was a great buy as was Torres (until he let us down)

8.) 13 Jun 2018 21:16:07
a) definitely Salah in the last 10 years, great first season and will make a hefty profit if/ when he leaves

b) I'd actually go slightly against the grain and say, from a pure player point of view, I'd pick Rushie. He spent a total of 16 years at the club, with a brief Italian holiday! We bought him for £300k, and then made £500k profit on the Italian adventure, so he actually cost us less than nothing!

If we're looking at overall impact on the club, then it has to be Dalglish, with Rushie second.

9.) 13 Jun 2018 21:20:11
Hard to argue with the king for signing of all time.

Last ten years is hard though, if this season wasn’t a fluke for salah and he ends up having a few seasons like that then it has to go to him, can’t give it to him after a season though, that also rules out VVD for now.

Can’t give it to Suarez as he brought as much shame into the club as he did magic.

Firmino is a fantastic player, probably my favourite at the club currently, he was pricey though so you can argue his amazingness was to be expected.

Going to be contraversial and say Coutinho. Bought quite cheaply and he was struggling to make use of his undoubted talent, we bought him and turned him into a great, if not world class player and got mega money for him, him leaving and the manner in which he went was a bit of a disappointment but you can’t argue with the fact of we bought him cheaply, developed him into a fantastic player, got arguably his best years out of him before selling him on for mega money.

10.) 13 Jun 2018 21:37:35
Not really an answer to the question: but I think signing Bellamy on a free, at a time when we weren’t great was a fantastic signing.

11.) 13 Jun 2018 21:38:47
A) markovich
B) torben pieknik.

12.) 13 Jun 2018 21:43:35
Clearly Dalglish but b is harder. Suarez I guess has been our best player. Vvd will become a great transfer but I'll go with coutinio, was good from the start, got better and he only cost 8mil, seeing us get a 132million pound profit.

13.) 13 Jun 2018 21:52:43
We sold Keegan and signed Kenny.
Masterstroke.

14.) 13 Jun 2018 21:56:20
Oh dear, I thought 2004 was still within the past ten years, I'm getting old! Thanks for pointing that out Salah. In that case, I'll have to go for Firmino.

15.) 13 Jun 2018 22:15:45
Kenny, Barnes, Salah.

16.) 13 Jun 2018 22:19:01
Torres. Every time he played Utd I loved him more. He was just explosive.

17.) 13 Jun 2018 22:39:50
Just as some alternatives to Kenny (who I agree on)

Ron Yeats
Keegan
Hughes
Rush
Hunt

Last 10 years? Hard to look beyond Salah.

18.) 13 Jun 2018 22:40:39
Torres signed in 2007 I think? or was it 2008?.

Lol zpecialone, time goes too quick doesn't it mate :) .

19.) 13 Jun 2018 23:37:15
Last 10 years - Suarez.
Ever - maybe St John (2nd Div to League 1 Champions) or Keegan (4th Division player straight into First XI, transformed a decent side to League and European Champions) . Dalgliish cost a British transfer fee record remember, Keegan was a £35,000 gamble as a midfielder) .

20.) 13 Jun 2018 23:37:15

Salah

Probably Kenny.

22.) 14 Jun 2018 00:39:42
Gotta be firminio. His numbers this season (goals, assists, tackles) we're incredible. Not to mention his work rate. If he's not in the team, Salah doesn't break the record. Don't get me wrong, Salah is great. But he could also be replaced. Firminio is something special and we'd be happy pressed to find another player that can contribute as much as he does. Suarez had the best of both firminio and Salah. But he left and so for me, it has to be firminio. Plus firminio has a much better attitude and team mentality.

23.) 14 Jun 2018 08:04:49
Last 10 years I am going to give a mention to Hendo. £16m is pretty cheap for a player who has gone on to captain us to a Champions League final.

Ever? Just to be different, Hansen. Best centre back ever to play the game.

24.) 14 Jun 2018 11:24:28
In the last 20 years it’s got to be Bobby. Think of anyone else that comes close but think the ox has definitely swayed my thinking if he carries on as he has the way he has interacted with the fans got to say I’m well impressed.

25.) 14 Jun 2018 11:27:59
Klopp and Shankly 😉.

26.) 14 Jun 2018 11:28:55
Kenny best ever. 2nd best ever would be Souness. In the PL era, prob Alonso and then Firmino (both make the team better whereas Suarez was prob better individually) .

Ok, after watching 3 games Live, here is my view.

LB- Milner has done well, and looked one of our better players, Moreno well the less said the better

CB- Lovern has been terrible, I hope matip gets fit soon! Klavan looks like Stirtle
Midfield- best player by a mile is Coutinho, don't play him on the left! also Winajldam is playing as a holding/ box to box? not sure if that works.

Striker- Sturridge looks shot already, has missed at least 5 sitters and doesn't seem interested, Origi the best forward I saw by a mile, he looks sharp. Ings not up to the standard we need. Sane lots of running and maybe potential, needs to look up and find his shooting boots.

Also can I say the treatment of our 32.5m striker is shocking, he was the only person on Tour not to feature at all! why take him? i'm sorry but benteke may not suit the style however he has quality, and if we sell him and get no replacement we will not score enough goals this year.

I must say the fans out here have done the club proud, lots of vocal support, on Saturday we stayed in the Ground for 30 mins after singing YNWA hanks for reading, don't slate me too much, Just my humble opinion.

RedinCa

1.) 02 Aug 2016 22:53:07
Well done mate, backing the Reds on tour.
YNWA.

2.) 02 Aug 2016 22:58:27
Some interesting points RedinCa. As you know, I was in Pasadena for the match against Chelsea and I must say that the support for the Reds was amazing (though there were a fair few Chelsea fans out there too) .

I disgaree on Lovren, who I think has tried to step up and be the dominant CB. Like Henderson, Sakho, Milner, Lallana and Mignolet, I think he has a big season coming ahead of him, and it is certainly make or break time for him like the others I mention. Klavan alike Skrtel! Haha, I was going to post that after the Chelsea game but thought better of it; he looks a bit too eager at times but I think he will probably be okay for us. Moreno - well I was shocked at how truly brainless some of his decision making was at the Chelsea game. On TV, you don't see certain things like positioning off the ball, the following of your direct opponent etc, but in real time, you see these things and I can honestly say I was amazed at some of his decision making. I cannot see him making drastic improvements to his game over the season either if he has not in over 2 years since he got here. One other player who looked as bad as Moreno was Randall who is the invisible man in defense.

I can understand the Benteke situation too. Klopp has no interest in him, so why should he play him when he can play Origi, Sturridge, Firmino and Ings, all of whom need match time to get back to fitness for different reasons.

Coutinho, Mane and Ejaria were the standouts for me in the game against Chelsea, and overall so far in the pre-season too.

3.) 02 Aug 2016 23:02:02
You don't think Sturridge, Origi, Ings and Firmino as 4 strikers can get enough goals?

Midfield will also be chipping in more his year if JK has achieved what he had hoped with signing Mane and Wijnaldum.

Benteke doesn't need replacing. Adding a 5th striker to the above list won't help. Quality over quantity my friend, and simply adding a 5th won't help. For a start what's going to happen to the 4 we already have? We will only play 1 or 2 up front so that's a lot of wasted players and money.

Just can't see it myself.

4.) 02 Aug 2016 23:02:27
Agree with your assessment in the main, however it is preseason and far too early to start assessing individuals. However thinking about starting the season with moreno at left back is giving me nightmares.

5.) 02 Aug 2016 23:16:24
It's preseason. Relax.

6.) 03 Aug 2016 00:01:23
Thanks for the replies Guys, I am excited however nervous with this season and especially our first 5 games! It could make or break us early. Also it seems the amount of pre season games we are playing is far more than anyone else? (7 so far, Roma was an add on nothing to do with ICC)
Thoughts from any of the ed's on the number of pre-season games I think it will be 9 in Total?

7.) 03 Aug 2016 00:10:23
I thought mane was are best player of pre season . I love and rate coutinho as the best player we got at the club but his not been great agaist millian and Rome . But I can't wait to see Sturridge coutinho firminho mane in a frout 4 hopefully Klopp plays them agaist Rome.

8.) 03 Aug 2016 00:30:52
I think klavan looked pretty solid when I watched him.

{Ed007's Note - (giggle)

9.) 03 Aug 2016 01:37:59
I disagree with Milner at lb, I thought his positioning was poor and his tracking back was worse, he exposed the centre halves time and time again.
Even when going forward to me he was unimpressive, got in good positions yet his final ball was dreadful, kept trying to lift it to the back post when a low drilled ball or cut back would've been more effective.
I suppose that's what you get for playing an average winger at fullback. I think I'd rather have Moreno there, at least he has some pace to recover from his bad positioning.

10.) 03 Aug 2016 05:15:59
Alexi Sanchez Vs Milner
Sorry No contest at all. We will concede plenty!

11.) 03 Aug 2016 09:04:10
We signed Sané? Cool! We must've 'swooped in' and 'highjacked' or 'gazumped' Man City with an 'audacious' bid. :)

28 Jul 2016 14:12:20
So, it was great to see the team in Action last night, good rendition of YNWA, and around 60,000 there split about 50/ 50.
Before I come on to our performance I have to say Chelsea were so negative, they had 2 banks of four playing deep, and it made it hard to break them down.
Generally the quality wasn't great from both, Coutinio was by far our best player ( the only creative player) some great touches, and also scored a free kick. Firminio was terrible poor first touch didn't really get into the game (played a false 9, not his position imo) mane ran a lot and did ok. We really missed a Striker (Studge hope he plays Saturday) Midfield 3 did ok (nothing spectacular ) now the defense Moreno was awful. Lost the ball, out of position, fouls. The back 2 were nervy, slow and terrible marking for there goal (set piece) Klavan first game did ok ish! 2nd Half was a non event. Milner showed quality when he came on as did lallana. Ings and Ojo not in the game. We have a lot of work to do guys
IMO. Thanks for reading.

{Ed002's Note - Marketing?}

Well, increasing 'fan share' across the globe.
I can't think of any footballing reason why it's advantageous for Liverpool to play Chelsea in USA.
I'm not knocking it, it's good for people to get a chance to see their teams play, I just don't take anything 'football related' from the games.

Nice one the real AG and PowerLFC! A few beers and hopefully a good game. I can't wait, it has been 3 long years since I last saw a game.
These overseas pre-season Tournaments are great for Ex-Pats abroad and overseas Supporters. And I am sure good for the bank balance, after ticket sales (90,000 Rose Bowl 68,000 Santa Clara) and shirt sales etc.

Love to know why Bernie? Ed02? He is a bit too left wing for me, It has been very Interesting watching the Primaries over here. I am still Baffled why 14m Americans have voted for Trump!

So who is everybody's tip for the Euro's? I think Germany, although France not far behind.
