Hi There Eds

Is there any interest in Abdoulaye Doucouré of Watford. Looks like a player who can improve us defensively, and his passing isn't too bad either.

RedPanda

{Ed001's Note - lots of interest in him, from a number of clubs, including us.}

1.) 15 Mar 2018 08:17:29
But Ed’s do you think he would be ahead of the list over jorginho and others.

{Ed001's Note - why would he bear any relation on a list to a totally different kind of player in Jorginho?}

2.) 15 Mar 2018 09:01:10
Are they both not midfielders? Style of play yes both are different doucoure is more dynamic but realistically we are going to buy only one midfielder as a replacement for emre.
But doucoure would probably be more of a similar replacement for emre than Jorginho.

{Ed001's Note - both midfielders but totally different types. They would not be an either/or signing.}

3.) 15 Mar 2018 09:12:13
Thanks Ed’s for clearing my dilemma by saying it won’t be an either/ or signing but do u think that club would go for 2 midfielders this window cos already our midfield s too crowded.

{Ed001's Note - too crowded? Can is going, Milner is likely to go and so is Lallana, that leaves a lot of space.}

4.) 15 Mar 2018 09:51:37
Lallana to Southampton if they stay up imo. Just a guess based on the quality and type of player he is.

5.) 15 Mar 2018 10:44:38
Thats interesting ed mate wasnt expecting a midfield overhall. Sounds like a few could well arrive. Would love a 3 of Doucoure, Keita and Lemar with Hendo Ox Gini as back up.

6.) 15 Mar 2018 11:03:53
Damn this thread. I spent all last night writing an article on this exact subject and I sent it in no less than 5 minutes ago!

Thunder, stolen 😂.

7.) 15 Mar 2018 12:26:57
Hahaha sorry mate but sure as he’ll publish your article.

8.) 15 Mar 2018 22:26:23
MK you talk a lot of ****, never heard so much dross from one person

{Ed0333's Note - why would you be so rude Cobra? Please can you explain the hate? MK is a valued contributor on this site and although some of his musings are not to everyone’s taste his posts should be respected. I hope you can look deep into yourself and see you’ve made a faux pas on this one.

9.) 16 Mar 2018 10:41:24
We will buy more than one midfielder in the summer. Can is gone, Milner would be gone, Wijnaldum is useless and turns up only for 19 games. Henderson is only fit for 20 games a season. Lallana is off! AOC is the only fit player available. I expect at least 3 to come in including Kieta.

I have noted with joy and concern the significant impact Klopp has had in luring players to LFC. Joy in the sense that we finaly have a manager whose appeal can influence the decision making of transfer targets. However i'm a bit skeptical of how this correlates to the overall pulling power of LFC as a brand. i. e if JK were not the manager as of today, how keen will players be to move to liverpool since many of those who have joined recently continually cite JK as the key reason for coming to LFC.

RedPanda

1.) 26 Jul 2018 14:57:32
Yes he is a major factor but because he has got us to major finals. And into the top 4 again. Players see we are challenging again and that will make them want to come. That and the money we pay them.

2.) 26 Jul 2018 15:25:22
It's all pr. If klopp were to go tomorrow and say conte came in all the players would be saying what a pleasure it is to be working with him.
Football is a business nowadays and the players have to keep the best interest of the club whilst they stay at lfc. The same applies to all the teams.

3.) 26 Jul 2018 17:32:34
It's champions league football that is attracting better players.

4.) 26 Jul 2018 17:58:55
It's a mixture of both. Don't forget it's Klopp that also steered us to successive CL campaigns.

5.) 26 Jul 2018 18:10:28
You're right flashthered. He is a great manager. I see a similarity with shankly in that they're both really liked people. Easy to like and the sort of person I imagine people want to please by working hard.

6.) 26 Jul 2018 21:51:57
I don't read into statements to much. Especially when you have players joining our B team (Southampton) and saying it's a pleasure to work with Mark Hughes.

If the expected midfield overhaul this summer is successful, i would really love to see Joginho and Keita occupy the 2 central midfield places. Henderson or Can to help Joginho with defensive duties.

RedPanda

1.) 08 Apr 2018 10:48:01
Mate, Can will be gone more than likely. I'd love him to stay but it ain't going to happen unfortunately.

2.) 08 Apr 2018 11:00:03
Overhaul?

3.) 08 Apr 2018 10:52:07
Gini was a better 6 than Hendo yesterday. At least he passed forwards.

4.) 08 Apr 2018 11:20:56
Gini passed backwards pretty much each and every time didn’t he?

5.) 08 Apr 2018 13:38:53
I really don’t see what Gini brings to the team anymore I’m afraid. He popped up with a few decent goals last season and looked effective and penetrating opposition defences and assisting last season when he got foward. This year I don’t remember seeing him have meaningful touches in and around the oppositions box. Much prefer Ox or younger players to be given a chance.

6.) 08 Apr 2018 13:45:38
Em, Gini was pretty good in the 6 vs a team that parked the bus for the most part vs Everton BUT he is not a patch on Hendo in the 6 in any way, IMO. Hendo is a better passer, better reader of the game, and a better leader and NEVER hides in games, something Gini is known for esp. in away games.

7.) 08 Apr 2018 15:22:31
It's up to Wijnaldum to have a stormer there on Tuesday night then. As I don't really see what Henderson brings to the team that Can, Ox and Milner don't that he gets held in such high regards.

8.) 08 Apr 2018 16:33:02
wijnaldum actually reads the game better than hendo. wijnaldum is techniquely less gifted but he's able to hold the ball a lot better in tight spaces which every holding midfielder should be able to do just by reading the game from all angles. I watched him against everton and he did well. I feel against a side like city his skills will shine even more in that role.

9.) 08 Apr 2018 21:01:50
I think GW is colour blind or short sighted.
The number of times he gives away possession is unbelievable.

10.) 08 Apr 2018 22:22:31
Regarding my above post, don’t get me wrong, I believe Wini has all the skill and ability to make a difference going foward. Whether it’s how he’s being asked to play or just a lack of confidence this year I don’t know, but he has been ineffective. Needs to played further foward than he was againts Everton I think.

06 Apr 2018 07:03:19
I really hope we keep Milner beyond the summer. He is such a bundle of experience and for me the most proffessional player we've had in years. One of the reasons TAA performed so good, was because he had good cover from Milner who dropped deep to close the spaces between the fullbacks and centre backs. Plus the Boring James Milner twitter page always give the most hilarious post match analysis in the eyes of James Milly Milner.

RedPanda

1.) 06 Apr 2018 08:42:12
I'm of the same opinion. He's done well in the CL this year too, assisting 8, only Neymar and Rooney have equalled that. Rooney back in 13/ 14 with 765 minutes played, Neymar last season with 797 minutes played and we have Milner doing it in only 454 minutes, it must count for something. I'd love to see him stay but I can't see it personally. He's a true professional and just get's on with it, he is great for the youngsters imo, it's a shame because I really do see him departing in the summer.

2.) 06 Apr 2018 09:14:31
Fully agree. He may not be a super brilliant technical player, but he provides important leadership through work rate, discipline and a readiness to do whatever and play wherever he is asked to. He exemplifies what team work and teanm ethic is all about. He's entering the twilight of his career, and it's quite normal for him to be given increasing defensive duties. I wish he would accept them and stay.

3.) 06 Apr 2018 09:18:41
I think Milners and LFC's biggest issue is he's one of our top payed players but is not a regular starter. If Milner leaves then that would free up a massive chunk of money to further increase a player like Salah/ Firmino's wage or to invest in new players wages. I think if Milner was offered reduced terms then that would be ideal for the club. However I think game time is a massive motivating factor for him and I just can't see the club being able to offer or garauntee it for him to want to stay.

4.) 06 Apr 2018 09:56:13
Doesn’t make sense to let him go just because he is a high earner. How much would we need to pay for a new signing to replace him in this market? 20m plus wages.

He has been excellent all season bar a few poor performances like anyone else. Fingers crossed we can keep the rest of our midfielder fit!

5.) 06 Apr 2018 10:43:51
I'd say Salah has been excellent all season. Milner has had good and bad games like the rest of the midfield. But saying he has been excellent all season is way over the top. I never said we should get rid of him just because he is a high earner but can the club honestly afford to bring our 3 best players Salah, Firmino and Mane onto the same clarity of pay as players like VVD and Milner, especially with Milner only being a squad player. Yes a very good squad player but still not a starter. Far more established players at other clubs have taken reduced terms to stay and fight for their places so I don't see why Milner shouldn't be offered that same option. Or is a team going to come in and offer him 180k a week. For me I think he wants week in week out football like Lucas in the summer and I don't think we can offer it to him.

6.) 06 Apr 2018 17:27:02
Exactly Redroon. They all played their part on Wednesday but his experience was vital in the middle and he had a barnstormer. If he wants to go for lower pay somewhere else to get more games then fair play, it just shows what a professional he is, but if we can keep him I'd be much happier. I'd rather Can, Lallana and (I'm sad to say) Wijnaldum went before him.

21 Mar 2018 14:18:26
I know i might be proven wrong very soon, but part of me suspects that Emre Can is pulling one over us, and will sign a new contract with LFC.

RedPanda

1.) 21 Mar 2018 14:25:14
I hope you are right but something tells me we will both be very, very dissapointed.

2.) 21 Mar 2018 14:33:46
fairly certain ed002 may say otherwise ;)

3.) 21 Mar 2018 14:54:22
He is not good enough. Many players can do what he does, we want and need someone who is much better.

4.) 21 Mar 2018 15:08:33
Can has BEEN gone since last summer so he's not pulling anything on anyone. Players don't have time for such things. He's gone and good luck to him for what he did for us, playing thru injury and sickness to give his all to the club. Btw, we don't get CL footie last season without Can either and that is a fact.

5.) 21 Mar 2018 16:26:45
I wish him luck too, i do however find it a bit strange that he is talking about playing for a big club next season, can't make up my mind if its a lack of respect or whether he was asked a specific question he has simply answered.

Will we miss him, yes we will miss the can that is on form and up for it. Will we miss the inconsistent sloppy can, no. Im still not convinced by him and feel he gets the amount of game time he does because of the lack of quality we have in his position and hendo being fragile and not being able to play every game.

I think if keita hits the ground running can will not be missed, but i feel we need to replace his sheer physicality which keita certainly is not, energy yes but he is a slip of a man compared to can.

6.) 21 Mar 2018 17:32:36
Keita in behind the front three, same place Coutinho played.

7.) 21 Mar 2018 18:06:41
What wrong with saying that, It's a coming? Is Juve not a big club or are we going to act like they are not? LFC and Juve are institutions both domestically and internationally. All Can did was state a fact. I would not read too much into that, my friend.

8.) 21 Mar 2018 22:06:52
Emre Can is a solid PL player but very far from irreplaceable or integral to our team. He always did his best though and that’s good enough for me. Let him go with our thanks and best wishes.

9.) 22 Mar 2018 08:54:56
Not disputing that brover, however his inference is that we are small club hence why we don't win trophies. You should read the article in full. Like i said, i wish him well but lfc are definately on the up with klopp and we will win a trophy next season. don't know which one but its inevitable.

Hi Eds

What are your views concerning the current set piece takers. I for one have been impressed by the quality of set piece deliveries by the Ox.

RedPanda

{Ed001's Note - the most impressive was TAA.}

1.) 31 Jan 2018 21:59:32
Spot on, Ed. Ox is not bad, either as Redpanda said.

2.) 31 Jan 2018 22:29:32
Ox is terrible! What are you guys watching?
