Hi Eds
I've read that the South American u20 tournament starts today. Are you aware of any players that might interest Liverpool or come to ?the EPL

thanks

RedArchie

{Ed002's Note - People have gotten very upset over South American youngsters being discussed in the past. As such we avoid such discussion. If you want to keep an eye on one player, Jaime Baez of Uruguay. Jaime Baez has an offer on the table from Ajax and he is a player that Liverpool first showed an interest in during 2012 - when there were several South American youngsters being tracked by the club. A work permit would be an issue but interest may still be there from Liverpool. Valencia and Palermo have also shown some interest this season.

He won't be moving to Liverpool and I am not certain he is at the tournament, but Lanzini of Argentina is a player that Caniggia pushed Liverpool to buy a couple of years ago - he has since moved to the Middle East - but certainly a player who will become well known.}

1.) 14 Jan 2015 15:44:21
Lanzini is in the Argentina squad.

2.) 14 Jan 2015 16:57:28
Watch the Aruba game tonight, they have a few players we could probably afford right now.

3.) 14 Jan 2015 17:11:13
Like the look of Jaime Baez on youtube. Almost impossible to gauge properly though.

4.) 14 Jan 2015 22:44:41
Jaime Baez has already been dubbed 'The new Luis Suarez' which just piles pressure on the kid and will probably hinder his development

Morning Eds
Sorry if this has been asked before but as Mignolet had another poor display last night would you give Brad Jones a couple of games? Also I've not seen anything in the press recently about a replacement/backup keeper. Can you provide an update?

RedArchie

{Ed001's Note - as far as I can find out, right now there is no plan to buy a keeper in January, but then the club are working towards an overhaul of the transfers and who makes the decisions. So there is no clear idea of who is going to be making a decision in January. That is if any players are even brought in at all, which is a very distinct possibility.

Personally I would give Ward or one of the other youth prospects a go, tell them they have nothing to lose and just go out their and play their game. Jones is not good enough, Mignolet is so bad he is looking like he is on the take, so why not see if one of the kids just might turn out to be something special given the chance? What do we have to lose? We either have one of two dodgy senior keepers, who struggle to catch cold, or a kid who might well be as bad, but couldn't possibly be any worse.}

There is a story in the Mirror today saying that Rafa Benitez may leave Napoli in the summer and return to the Wirral and they are giving it the "2+2=4" and saying he could replace Rodgers. Now its probably bull but I just wondered who would have Rafa back. Yes he could negative at times but we also had one of the best midfields in Europe in 2005 when he was manager and I always wondered what he could with decent backing from the current owners which is something I believe he didn't get with Hicks & Gillet.
So Ed(s)/everyone else would you have him back?

RedArchie

{Ed001's Note - there are a few people talking about this, I would be very surprised as last I heard he was looking to sign a new contract with Napoli, who were also looking to offer him one. While he was beloved at Liverpool as a person, there are still a lot who remember his politicking behind the scenes and his massive spending on players each season. It would be a huge sea change in the feeling there if Rafa was brought back. De Boer still seems the favourite, from what I can find out.

As for whether I would have Rafa back, for the club's sake not as the manager. If it is as a DoF, that I would also have reservations over. For the city though, his return would be a boost, as he and Montse are very heavily involved in working for local charities etc.}

Eds
We've all seen and read rumours about strikers were interested in ie Falcao, Cavani and Lavezzi (which personally I hope we don't get as I think they'd just be here for a payday). Do you think Bony is our preferred target? or would you prefer someone else ie Lacazette, Balotelli, Martinez. Would be interested to know who would like us to buy

thanks

RedArchie

{Ed002's Note - Lacazette was of interest but everyone has moved on. Lavezzi will leave PSG this week and again Liverpool has enquired after the player - but his preference is for Italy if a deal can be made. Falcao wishes a move to Real Madrid and I suspect that something can still be done there - although there is significant interest from elsewhere now. Cavani does not need to be sold to fund Di Maria but would need to be sold if PSG could persuade Chelsea to sell them Oscar - but Chelsea rejected an offer last Thursday. Macca has mentioned interest in Bony and Balotelli - I have commented on both which you can find by using the search engine. Jackson Martinez has not been mentioned for a while and after a summer trying to complete a move to Valencia might well still be available.}

Eds. I've read that Diego Lopez is being forced out of Real Madrid and could be available on a freebie. Have we shown any interest?

RedArchie

{Ed001's Note - no.}

Hi Eds. I've seen rumours that we we were looking at jean michael seri. As his move to Barcelona seems to be off and we are still looking to bolster midfield would he be an option if we can't get Thomas Lemar?

RedArchie

{Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware.}

Melissa reddy reporting that keita has passed medical and signed 5yr contract from July 1st 2018.

1.) 28 Aug 2017 18:18:06
Sell coutinho and fsg could still not spend that much this transfer window.

2.) 28 Aug 2017 18:30:58
I can't tell if you're saying that as a good thing or a bad thing Daniel?

Personally I think that losing a player who no longer wants to play for us and buying Salah, Robertson, Solanke, VVD, Lemar and getting Keita sorted for next year, all while ending up with a net spend of a lot less than our rivals is actually an exceptional summer of transfers.

3.) 28 Aug 2017 18:35:28
What's your point Daniel?

4.) 28 Aug 2017 21:06:39
Don't know what you are trying to say there, Daniel so pls, elaborate.

Has anyone got an update in whether ibe has agreedto join Bournemouth. Also question for eds. If u were the chairman of a football club how would you leave an offer on the table for a player to accept it.

Seem to remember we left an offer open to lee bowyer for approx 5 days beforewe rremoved it.

RedArchie

{Ed002's Note - Ibe knows he is not wanted and will have to think about what he wishes to do but both clubs are happy to let it happen. I know nothing of Lee Bowyer but clubs make offers to clubs for players.}

1.) 09 Jul 2016 16:37:25
Not much to know about Lee Bowyer ed. over hyped and under achieved. True colours came out with the influence of alcohol.
A complete tool.

2.) 09 Jul 2016 17:18:25
A friend of mine bought me a weird drink once, I asked him what it was called.
'The Lee Bowyer' he said.
'Whys that? ' I remarked
'Because it's best friend for 60/ 70 minutes and then it just turns on you'
Lmao.

Would like to wish rafa all the best at Newcastle as its nice to see him back in the english game and hope he does well. While i didn't agree with everything he did he still gave us Istanbul and I for one am very grateful he did. Possibly my best footballing night.

1.) 25 May 2016 20:14:47
Good luck to Rafa at Newcastle.

2.) 25 May 2016 22:44:49
Indeed. Think he's a brave man because the championship is a totally different league.
Hopefully he'll get them back up first time of asking.

3.) 25 May 2016 23:47:30
If Rafa wins something at Newcastle he will become a Geordie diety. 😄
Good luck Rafa 😎.

Lets hope Michael Edwards visits this site and perhaps he can get the Benedict Howedes deal done. lol. Would go some way to show us Liverpool fans that he is actually doing something.

So we can;t sign Keita so we are going for 2nd or 3rd best are we? what's the point when we've got Henderson, Crujic, Milner, Can, Wijnaldum and Ejaria looking for places in midfield. Must be better to use what we currently have and then hopefully get our number 1 target next year. Grujic has to get his opportunities to keep his WP. As the Eds has said before we can't just keep adding and adding players.

Football fans are fickle. When he scores a couple of goals it will be forgotten. let's hope he stays, plays well and has a good season. Enjoy the memories and wish he all the best as it will all kick off again next summer and he will probably go. If it happens then just hope he goes early so we have time to get the replacement in and upto speed.

He'll have a bad back until Sept 1st after which he'll be fully fit at Barcelona or sulking in Melwood. If its the latter he's only doing himself harm as he needs to play to be in the Brazil squad for the WC next year.

RedArchie

{Ed002's Note - It is nothing whatsoever to do with the World Cup. It matters not one iota.}
