What was Gerrard thinking playing upto the cameras with those comments, made me think in his head he has already left the club and is laying the foundations for a new career as an opinionated ex-pro pundit. Funny he mentioned the term disrespectful because that's exactly what he was last night, very poor off field performance from our captain.

Red 66

{Ed001's Note - or it could have been that Roy Hodgson got crucified for defending Rooney so bowed to pressure as he is new to the punditry?}

1.) 20 Feb 2015 07:57:00
Could be many things but was definitely the wrong move and Captain Fantastic or not, I think someone in the club might need to sit him down and remind him that he's actually still employed by us and has responsibilities there no matter what he's doing at any given time.

2.) 20 Feb 2015 07:56:05
Sorry Ed got to disagree, he has given enough pre and post match interviews to understand what comments are acceptable and what are not. Hendo handled the questions well Gerrard didn't, only my opinion though.

{Ed001's Note - if you say so, I don't see the point in anyone being a pundit if they are just going to say what the club tell him to. Be honest, that is what I want to see. Just because it isn't what the club want, well so what? He is not there to represent the club, he is there to give an opinion. It is not a post match interview while he is sat in a Liverpool kit and your reply is ridiculous to suggest it should be treated as one. If you want platitudes then watch it through the official channels instead.}

3.) 20 Feb 2015 08:28:21
A pundit should give their view of a situation and try to be without bias. That's what they are there to do.

4.) 20 Feb 2015 09:42:54
Whilst still permanently employed by LFC, his first duty should be the promotion and support of LFC. If it is not possible to do that whilst also providing punditry (and I don't believe it is, I don't think it is), players should not be released to be pundits and commentators whilst playing. Is he not earning enough to live without having a 2nd job? Always makes my heart sink when I see current players in the commentator seat and I know that some fans from other clubs feel the same - lots of Everton fans hated seeing Howard discussing their game.

5.) 20 Feb 2015 08:41:38
Disagree on that one Ed, whilst he's still employed by the club ( and captain for that matter) he needs to be measured in what he says. We expect that of every player employed by us whether they are injured on holidays or on twitter for that matter.doesnt matter if he's not at anfield in his full kit.

{Ed001's Note - sorry but that is a different matter. If they are allowing him to be a pundit, then they have to let him have his say. The question you should be asking is if he should have been there giving an opinion in the first place, which I would say no. I don't believe injured players should be working as pundits, if they are fit enough to be at the game, then they should be with the team supporting their team mates. Especially when it is the captain, he should be in the dressing room acting like a captain, backing up the manager and the vice captain's authority, geeing up the players before the game etc.}

6.) 20 Feb 2015 10:38:33
I personally don't mind constructive criticism. What Mario did was wrong. It's not his 1st time doing it. He should know better. For me as club captain stevie was right to admonish him.

7.) 20 Feb 2015 12:24:56
We see more evidence once again that gerrard is just another player .

8.) 20 Feb 2015 14:39:53
I agree on that point ed - he shouldn't have even been a pundit, especially to commentate on his own current team. If it was an England qualifier or the like then by all means but it just opens himself up for this sort of stuff. Imagine if Neville or scholes had said some of the things they had recently about man utd and then had to go and play with the same guys two weeks later.

Morning Reds and Ed's
I might attract some calls of blasphemy, or be accused of not being a " true supporter" but to be honest I couldn't care less or feel any worse than I do now after watching our recent performances.
Stevie G will always be a legend, but sadly the legend should be resigned to the history books, we should be looking to someone else to be the driving force behind our team be it Hendo or Can a decision needs to be made.
As some have suggested maybe try Stevie at centre back what's the worst that could happen? He could be a revalation but to leave him in his current position is stifling the players around him. Hendo's game seems to suffer the most lately playing along side Stevie, he'll receive the ball and instead of trying to build something he'll push it sideways or back to Stevie which either comes straight back in the same position or another short pass across the back line, again to be returned Stevie and on it goes. Pass and move seems to have passed us by and gone. We are so one paced in the middle with little imagination no wonder teams are doing to us what we did to them last season pressing us, the ball gets passed back, we loose it our defence panics before you know it we are behind.
I get that we can't be all out attack and we are missing Studge's movement upfront etc but Jesus let's at least consider it occasionally. Let's get some legs, bite and forward thinking in midfield if this means no more Stevie G then so be it, I would rather remember him as the awesome player he was than a shadow of his former self who held back the natural progression of our team.
Stevie is not the only player who should be looked at for performance levels however the position BR has put him in/created for him is having the biggest overall effect on the team, if our midfield doesn't click then what links defence with attack?

Rookie, I got some inspiration from your Sturridge song hope you don't mind, anyone feel free to change my attempt . It's about time Danny had his own song.

We brought this lad from Stamford bridge, Sturridge, Sturridge
His finishing cooler than a fridge, Sturridge, Sturridge
He's lightning fast, he'll do his dance, he'll leave defenders in a trance
Daniel Sturridge a hero on the Kop .

We gave this lad his golden chance, Sturridge, Sturridge
Now he just loves to score and dance, Sturridge, Sturridge
Just give him the ball and watch his skill in the blink of an eye it will be 1-0
Daniel Sturridge a hero on the Kop

I'm not disappointed that Fabio and Lucas are still with us, and may yet be proven to be valuable cover against injury or to allow Brendan to rest / rotate for the early rounds of domestic cups etc . The club and players can re-evaluate their positions come January . I'm not being disrespectful to either in thinking their long term futures lay elsewhere but while they continue to wear the Liverbird with pride I will give them and the rest of our Team my full support . Good times ahead my fellow Reds .

1jj. Totally get your point and 100% agree on the Manc's/ Cockney's and any other city, however I (and I may be in the minority) believe as "We are Scouse, this means more".
Hopefully our Blue neighbours can find what appears to be the elusive rabbit and pull in out of the hat. YNWA.

yeah I remember being charged £5.00 for the privilege to stay on the list (Bargain), looking on the bright side if I was number 25000 I'm doing well 😁.

Great reality check Ron.
Yes, all defeats hurt and poor performances frustrate, but as my avatar says .
