Have heard the deal for Benteke is done - 32.5M.

Lambert to Palace.

1.) 01 Jul 2015 12:07:00
If true, although I believe that money would be better spent elsewhere, let's hope he settles in quick and does really well.
If he is a red he gets my full support until he does anything like not bother (Mario) or is constantly rubbish and blocks youth progression (Welsh Xavi)

2.) 01 Jul 2015 12:37:59
Well if he's complete rubbish then he is also blocking youth progression so your comment about Allen is pretty rubbish itself. "Gets my full support, but if he's rubbish, he doesn't." That's not full support.

3.) 01 Jul 2015 13:33:49

4.) 01 Jul 2015 14:08:53
Ya I'm with TjRed on that. Trying to pretend you're a great fan Max but no fooling Tj!

5.) 01 Jul 2015 16:01:59
Agger, yep Sir Ricky of Bench

6.) 02 Jul 2015 16:20:47
Waste of money, although if you believe the rumours we are in for.

Higuain (who is 'begging' to join Liverpool. Not)
Dries Mertens

and basically anyone else who is a striker and currently alive.

27 Jun 2014 23:35:54
Have heard a whisper that Liverpool are showing interest in Jose Gaya of Valencia

1.) 28 Jun 2014 00:55:30
Why a whisper? Were you told in a library?

2.) 28 Jun 2014 08:51:28
Thanks LENIN.

I have been here long enough to know that RED LENIN is a long term poster and a reliable guy.

11 Feb 2014 12:00:09
Deal has been struck regarding . TSSA have called of the strike. Details just breaking on media feeds now.

1.) Just one of the two unions involved- RMT is the other one. Big Scare BOB Crowe

2.) RMT have also just announced they are cancelling their action as well.

3.) YIPPEE- come on redmen. 2 wins in the next 2 league matches will really get us up there

20 Jan 2014 11:50:31
Nearly forgot. Another rumour I have picked up on from a good source. We know we have problems with the DM position yes? Guess who is available as a free agent and has been mentioned as a possible quick repair - Mohamed Sissoko 'the black ninja'. His name has been mentioned a couple of times over the last 2 months or so.

20 Jan 2014 11:32:56
As is widely reported we are getting ready to bid for Salah I have been led to belive our bid will be in the region of euro €11-12M. Also we are aparently showing an interest in Karl Darlow - a 22 year old goalie on Forest's books but currently on loan at Walsall.

1.) For god sake please try to do at least a tiny bit of research to make up for your lack of general football knowledge before you post. Karl Darlow has been Forest's number one for a year now and is in sparkling form in the Championship. He also has terrific hair. I wonder what your fluff says about your Salah info.

2.) Thanks Lenin. Been a while since you posted a "Rumour".

3.) My apologies. I thought he was back at Forest as well but didn't bother checking. But the source remains adamant that we are showing interest in him.

Immense game from Origi, Can and Sakho.

03 Feb 2016 12:40:14
Well we had our chances, didn't take them -0 and that was a stunning goal and a contender for goal of the season I suspect.

Other than that there's not a lot more to be said.

1.) 03 Feb 2016 14:26:29
Also, our passing was the worst I ever saw in a while. Chris Waddle on commentary could not believe his es. That`s how bad it was. Leicester has all we are lacking as in, a team hig on confidence, no critical injuries, a striker and key players on confidence and a new coach with a pre season to implement his ideas, ALL the things we currently lack. Apart from that, it wasn`t a very poor performance, just a very frustrating one.

{Ed001's Note - Chris Waddle is a moron. If our passing is so bad, how come we dominated possession for most of the game and it was just in the final third we struggled? Waddle was just desperate to pick at anything, but even he was admitting Liverpool were the better side, while trying to claim we were constantly giving the ball away.}

2.) 03 Feb 2016 17:52:16
I thought Waddle made some good assessments. Like the ed says, he consistently highlighted Liverpools sustained possession and lack of creativity in the final third.

3.) 03 Feb 2016 23:01:45
I agreed with you Ed however even I saw the way we were wasteful in our passing which shows in fact, how poorly Leicester played because they were just as bad. I agree that we opened them up at will atimes but our decisions in the final third along with a lack of a true striker killed us.

I wouldn't read anything into that match. It was like watching two sunday morning pub sides getting a pub result. If we played like that against a better side (and most of the Prem is better than Norwich) we'd have been battered.

The only positive is we got 3 points.

1.) 24 Jan 2016 08:08:13
Another cheery post for a rainy Sunday!
Entertainment, action, football, it was all there, just try and enjoy watching the sport.

{Ed001's Note - I am just staggered that anyone could consider 3 points the only positive. Scoring five goals is a positive. Entertaining the crowd and TV audience is a positive. The fact we fought back from 3-1 down is positive. There are many positives.}

2.) 24 Jan 2016 08:30:40
Ed1 - both positives and negatives tbf!

{Ed001's Note - yes, but Lenin implied there were lots of negatives but only one positive.}

3.) 24 Jan 2016 08:49:34
It was a brilliant game, sometimes these games happen, just enjoy them.

Probably not going to happen again for quite some time.

Cmon that game was special!

4.) 24 Jan 2016 10:25:06
The fight back from 3-1 down was superb and the way we have seem to rescue points late on and playing to the final whistle is massive, the belief that Klopp as introduced to the team is great to see.

5.) 24 Jan 2016 10:27:38
The game was played like a cup tie and what is wrong with that. I love that type of game. Give me 2 teams trying to win rather than 2 teams trying not to lose any day of the week.

6.) 24 Jan 2016 12:40:50
under BR we would not have come back at 3-1 down god only know what the score would have been under BR, after lallanas goal the celebration said a lot, they believe in klopp and want to play for him, i can't wait until klopp gets a few of his players in, in our games we have been making many chances but have had no one as a top striker and then there's the defensive issues and the gk, if klopp can make changes in those positions and get better players in then we will go close next season and to be honest there's no reason why we can't get in the top 4 this season if we start putting the chances away and stop leaking goals then we will be there abouts, also i'm starting to think sturridgedoes not want to play for klopp because we can all see the improvement klopp has brought to the team and with a few good signings we will be winning things and sturridge seems he does not want to be part of it he looks too happy in the stands watching the game he does not look like he wants to be apart of it i may be wrong but when i see him i doubt it, maybe he did not like klopp saying the pain his in his head.

7.) 24 Jan 2016 12:47:45
I would watch that every game if it got the win. Who doesn't want a roller coaster ride every match. I'm sure united fans would welcome a bit of entertainment lol
We have problems in the squad, klopp will fix a good few in the summer and get the team up to speed with tactics and fitness. The schedule has been crazy, maybe 2 weeks with one game since he joined.
Good times are just around the corner. Just have to be patient and believe in the players.

8.) 24 Jan 2016 23:20:16
Sorry Ed001 I didn't respond to your comments which I entirely agree with, thank you.

05 Jan 2016 22:51:33
Well, as a near 60 year old life-long Liverpool fan I am astonished to find myself saying our best two players tonight were Toure and Allen.

Who the hell will we put in central defence to face Arsenal?

1.) 05 Jan 2016 22:56:25
I thought Firmino had a good game to. Toure and Llori lol.

2.) 05 Jan 2016 23:04:32
Arsenal is over a week away. Who knows, maybe Lovren will be fine by then, Toure apparently was just a cramp, and Sakho I don't think was anything long term either. Exeter is a different story though, that one should be interesting.

3.) 05 Jan 2016 23:06:07
Can for me RED. i thought he was excellent this evening. I agree the others did have good games though!

4.) 05 Jan 2016 23:27:55
Toure had a top game alright.

Allen drifted out of the match after Lucas was moved out of midfield. He meant that assist for Ibe (air shot my ass), but over the whole 90 minutes he wasn't great.

5.) 06 Jan 2016 00:22:57
Red Lenin - I agree with you about Allen and Toure. I think Allen offers more in a CM role than Milner. (I know I'll be crucified on here for saying that) . He wasn't scared to pass the ball forward and made runs to support the attack at every opportunity.

As for Toure - over 10-15 yards he's as fast as anyone else on the field. He reads the game well and gets into good positions where he doesn't have to cover more than 15 yards - well, not too often anyways.

A few people have also commented that Firmino had a good game tonight. I disagree! While he might have improved on his last three performances, he still has a lot to work on. His decision making as to when to shoot or not is one. Another is that he doesn't like to receive the ball with his back to goal. He opts to pass it back rather than turn with it - probably a lack of confidence more than a lack of ability.

6.) 06 Jan 2016 00:39:28
Altogether, our boys didn't need to break a sweat tonight, I feel. Yes, we fought hard, stayed together and played some lovely stuff vs a team that has been slapping teams around on their home patch but I felt the boys never panicked and just did the job. They were ready for the fight and took it to them. Chuffed to bits for the win. Great response from them and Klopp must be pleased.

7.) 06 Jan 2016 09:06:05
Illori perhaps, recently returned from loan. I would imagine if he is injury free he might get a look in.

01 Dec 2015 00:19:31
RIP Gerry Byrne (who I remember watching when I was a youngster) . A man Shankly once said was the most professional player he managed.

Good luck to the lad. Shame he never broke through, but we need to trim the squad.

For the wages he is on, we need to know he will play 2 out of every three games minimum. He is far to inconsistent and injury-prone and we would be better of selling him.

However like most of the supossedly 'big' players we have got, they aren't worth anywhere near what we paid for them (Benteke, Lallana, Sturrisdge, Markovic etc etc) . In Sturridge's case we would be lucky to get £10M for him.

I said on here 6 moths ago that he was mentally weak and unwilling to play unless 100% fit - and get slagged for it.

Well done to Robboz for pointing out what Klopp is saying about serious pain and pain?

We cannot afford to carry a player on his wages unless we get over 30 games a season out of him at least and that is all there is to it.

Least some of you be under some sort of illusion, 'realistic' in our case means we are not buying until we have sold- transfer moneyis to come from sales.

And before you think that will be easy, just remeber - we have to find buyers and then the player is only worth what they are willing to pay.

In reality, just to get a £20M player, we are not only going to have to sell first, but take a quite significant loss in some cases.

As generoous as FSG have been to date (and they have - ridiculously so, they do not have a magic money tree.

kopite7, fans are fickle. Look how quick they turned on Rodgers. Should FSG remove him (don't think they will but he's probably had a warning at least) the fans will forget very quickly.

Personally, as an old git I miss the old days when your transfer business was largely done in private and the first anyone even knew about it was when it had already been done - blimey half the time the players themselves didn't know.

Personally, if we were to lose Coutinho (which I think is marginally more likely than not the 'now or never' from Barcelona may well sway him), then a slight tactical re-arrangement with Firminho occupying a forward position in central midfield - a sort of cross between playmaker and attacking midfielder as opposed to playing front 3, would pay dividends.

100m is a lot of money for a player that we only paid 8.5m for - we could cover any VVD transfer, buy another 40-50m player as well and still have enough for a bag of chips and the last bus.

I agree with Ed001 - Paisley was a tactical genius. he was also quiet, didn't hog the limelight and also absolutely ruthless. He wouldn't think twice about getting rid of a big player and replacing them with something he thought better. He even sold first team players without them even knowing they were up for sale to start with. I think it was Terry McDermott he called over to the side of the training ground and said 'i want you to go and speak to those men over there'. 'Why' says Terry Mac. 'Because I've just sold you to them' replies Quiet Bob.

Migs is a good shot stopper - probably one of the best in the Prem. He just needs to work on his distribution and having strength of character to command the box.
