Hi eds. Just a quick one, have Liverpool show any interest in juan quintero? and if you have time, what do you make of the lads abilities? Good enough for liverpool and the premier league? Thanks.

Parstheball

{Ed001's Note - not that I am aware of, and I have not seen enough of the lad to judge him to be perfectly honest.}

21 Jun 2016 20:06:20
Ive looked through the search function. can't seem to find anything recent on ante coric. What happened? I thought liverpool were interested?

Cheers.

Parstheball

{Ed002's Note - Ante Coric of Dinamo Zagreb is destined for an excellent career if he doesn't move too early - but Chelsea, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Spurs and Manchester City are very keen. His club are aware of this interest and the tentative interest of other sides, such as West Ham, who have not had discussions with his representatives or his club.}

With the talks of the safe standing at anfield, what would the estimated max safe capacity become if it were to happen? Or is it unknown yet.

Cheers.

Parstheball

1.) 31 Jul 2017 20:13:26
Who really cared what the capacity would be? What an absolute insult to the memories of the 96. I'm truly lost for words.

{Ed025's Note - im with you MK..do we really want to go down that road?..

2.) 31 Jul 2017 20:20:57
That's the point. It shouldn't change or it will be stupidly dangerous.

All that should happen is metal rails get put in front of the rows and the seat allocation remains the same, but when the game is on you hav3 someth7ng to lean on So you can stand and not fall and cause any sort of crushing issues.

Absolutely idiotic if they increase stadium capacities.

3.) 31 Jul 2017 20:22:28
Why would capacity increase? The proposed safe standing is based on rail standing so seats would just be flipped up. I'm guessing capacity would still be based on the number of seats.

4.) 31 Jul 2017 20:36:29
I just cannot understand it Ed025. I don't know how people can forget so easily. I wasn't even born until '94 but I have closely followed the fight for justice and listened to so many different interviews of survivors and families of the victims etc.

I really don't know how to explain what I think and feel about this alleged vote. I'm not even sure I'm angry. It's more like disappointment.

{Ed025's Note - my brother was at the game mate and i remember it vividly, i think its a terrible idea myself MK and im sure it would bring back some horrific memories to supporters who were there or lost loved ones, im very surprised liverpool would even consider it to be honest..

5.) 31 Jul 2017 20:55:28
Mk, an insult is the home fans who continue to stand at games.

Many attended Hillsbrough too, but continue to do so.

Times have changed and I see nothing wrong with it, and before you all pass comment, please be mindful none of you know me, and therefore do not know my past or association with people/ places.

Lets get on with it.

6.) 31 Jul 2017 21:03:35
There is no argument to support terracing at games.
The "atmosphere" argument is total balony.

Liverpool 4-3 Newcastle was al seater
Liverpool 1-0 Chelsea CL semi was all seater
Attaturk was all seater.
There are many other examples.

Give me one good reason to bring back terracing.

7.) 31 Jul 2017 21:19:06
As I said before, if there even is a 1% increase that someone may get hurt or worse, it should not be done. Especially seeing as the only getting hurt will be the fans, who are also the ones they are trying to get more money from.

8.) 31 Jul 2017 21:21:33
Standing at a game was banned for the reason of the 96 fans who lost their lives and the families it devastated. Anyone that stands should be banned, all seating is for the safety of fans not just the few.

Baz.

{Ed025's Note - im with you baz..

9.) 31 Jul 2017 21:45:00
Speaking as someone who didn't have any relatives at hillsborough, and doesn't know anyone who has been affected by Hillsborough, there's obviously certain things I don't fully understand but if anything I think it gives me a more neutral point of view, and i do not mean to upset anyone or offend anyone with what I'm about to say but.

If the Hillsborough stadium was seated, and the police still tried to force everybody into that one stand, I don't understand how the exact same thing wouldn't have happened if there was seats? Surely it was the cage at the front of the stand that was a problem?

10.) 31 Jul 2017 22:23:00
If it was seated they wouldn't have sent people into that stand after it got full.

11.) 31 Jul 2017 22:28:46
There is abosluteley no reason why standing is more dangerous than sitting. I was attendimg atleast 50 games that were standing and atmosphere created is amazing. it was all safe. some tragedies sometimes can't be avoided and police was reaponsible not standing. Anfield is turning into cinema lately and klopp even critisized it one or two times.

12.) 31 Jul 2017 22:56:48
MK you're 23? just finished uni!? I see why you have time for those novels. :p.

13.) 31 Jul 2017 23:03:55
It was the fences at Hillsborough people were caged in.

14.) 31 Jul 2017 23:23:35
You don't need to stand to create an atmosphere.

It's a myth which has been repeatedly dispelled.

15.) 31 Jul 2017 23:32:48
I voted for safe standing. Not for the atmosphere but simply to make it safer for the people currently standing on the kop and the others who have no choice to stand or not see the game. Safe standing is nothing like standing was back in the day, it's ok to say if you stand you should be banned but that simply will never happen and you all know it. Standing should be an option if done safely, and as clubs around Europe have shown us, it is safe. Let's not compare railed seating like at Celtic to the pens of old, they're completely different.

16.) 31 Jul 2017 23:49:09
Just wondering if everyone commenting on this thread has seen what safe standing actually is? It's not terracing.

Everyone still has a seat allocated and that is your spot. There is a railing in front of your seat so when the match is on you stand and lean on it. Single rows of people all with allocated spots and railings between each row.

17.) 01 Aug 2017 00:32:38
Terracing is a series of concrete steps for people to stand on.
It is terracing.

Seriously, what is the argument for standing. Can anyone actually give a good reason?
Making it safer for fools who choose to stand is not an argument. It is safest not to stand - simple.

18.) 01 Aug 2017 04:58:32
Has anyone been in the kop recently? Half of the season ticket holders these days would struggle to stand for more than 5 mins, let alone a whole match.
But that of course is beyond the point, Liverpool FC should never entertain this idea at all, ever, out of respect for the 96. ✊.

19.) 01 Aug 2017 05:59:09
Out of interest Mickey, of those season ticket holders who. couldn't stand for 5 mins ( :p ) are they also not contributing to a fervent match day atmosphere? I always wondered if the atmosphere was more about age and energy rather than day trippers etc etc.

20.) 01 Aug 2017 07:03:11
Think people who are younger are desensitized if that makes sense, it's a world were horrendous incidents are daily and reported on the news. Nothing shocks people anymore.

As time has gone by the horrific incident of the 96 has become less horrific to the younger generation.

Most who voted probably weren't even born and don't remember how it felt as a fan.

My dad was went and police knocked to inform us he had died. There was slot of confusion and he was home a few hours later. For me safe standing is not wanted or needed it's a recipe for disaster as you always need to plan for human error.

21.) 01 Aug 2017 09:16:28
i think tho that like most times following a disaster, the key aspects are what we learn to make it better. perhaps better is to not have "safe" standing? perhaps not.

Another random question here that i'd just like to float to everyone.

What is everyones opinion on which game was our best team performance so far this season?

Im not quite sure personally because you can pick slight faults with everything. I thought we handled the sunderland game very well. Against a team starting to play a lot better than they had been and totally isolated any attacking threat they possessed, i'm not saying it was our best performance though. It'd be interesting to hear everyones (including Eds) opinions and why.

Parstheball

1.) 18 Dec 2016 11:04:18
Leicester was important for me because we played them off the park let them back in at 2-1 with their first attack almost and then went on to win 4-1 without Leicester getting out of their half again.
This was at a time when everyone was going on about our deficiencies in that exact scenario and thought it showed good belief and mental strength in our players.

2.) 18 Dec 2016 11:21:30
Totally forgot about that game and lucas' assist!

3.) 18 Dec 2016 12:57:21
I would have to say the Chelsea game, we blitz them the first half and barley let them have a say. And then we came out well organised in the second and showed that we can defend. Also had numerous chances to make it 3 on the counter, other than a petty goal (which seems to be a theme in all our games this season) we held the lead very well. Might not be our best performance but was definitely my favourite!

4.) 18 Dec 2016 18:00:08
Maybe because it's recent it's on my mind but I thought we were excellent against middlesbourgh.

5.) 19 Dec 2016 00:49:26
The swansea game, they needed points more then anyone, and played to the best of their abilities yet we managed to beat them, was a brill game.

13 Dec 2016 19:15:25
Just a random question eds. People say "oh this player or that player will need x amount of time to adjust to the premier league" i'm just wondering. Which league (if any) is the most like the premier league and would possibly mean a player has an easier time to adjust to english football. Bit of a weird question but it made me wonder. Cheers.

Parstheball

{Ed001's Note - Scotland is the one closest in style, the Bundesliga is the other.}

1.) 13 Dec 2016 19:22:42
Ye i was thinking bundesliga. But scotland completely didn't come into my mind. cheers Ed01.

{Ed001's Note - welcome.}

09 Dec 2016 17:31:22
Phil thompson saying mignolet needs to come in for karius tomorrow. He has 1 poor game and he should be dropped? It would knock all confidence out of the lad to drop him now. He needs games. If we dropped mignolet for every bad game he had he would be dropped every other game.

Parstheball

1.) 09 Dec 2016 17:42:51
On top of that, what if migs has a shocker? You're pretty stuffed for options. Disappointing from thommo really.

2.) 09 Dec 2016 17:49:19
You could drop half the team based on his logic then, singling out Karius would be a huge mistake.
Bournemouth was a huge collective mistake that Klopp and the players need to take responsibilty for, learn from it and ensure it doesn't happen again, if the players repeat the same mistakes, that's when you drop them.

3.) 09 Dec 2016 18:17:51
Typical pundit regurgitating media talking points. And where do we go if Migs makes a mistake? We go to Manninger? Go back to Karius whose confidence is destroyed? And while all this chaos is going on, he wants us to win the title? Maybe he should sit down ad have a word with himself before spouting talking points in the media.

4.) 09 Dec 2016 18:17:51

5.) 09 Dec 2016 19:08:44
Exactly, makes no sense in my opinion. Atleast the lad has come out and held his hands up metaphorically . Held them up more than mignolet actually does in a game anyhow.

6.) 09 Dec 2016 19:16:02
Karius has been ropey in most of his games but let's be honest he has to learn his trade and adapt to the difference in playing firstly in a Klopp team but also playing in the premier league.

Give him some time and he will be fine. Our exgoalkeepers Grobellar and Reina have both said he needs time to build his confidence and Klopp picked him so there good enough reasons for me.

Thommo is a gas man but he spouts some pony sometimes and as said above still expects us to win the league. There are too many people being too quick to jump on the bandwagon whom I'm sure will be proved wrong.

7.) 09 Dec 2016 20:12:00
Fortunately Klopp makes the decisions.

8.) 09 Dec 2016 21:56:50
Karius needs to opportunity to bounce back and show his character. The worst thing to do right now would be to drop him.

9.) 09 Dec 2016 22:25:13
When are you lot all going to get wise? Klopp is staking his reputation on a dud and the longer he stubbornly keeps him in, the further away from the title we will go. Unfortunately the lad has got no technique and will never make it, no matter how much you all talk him up and exaggerate Mignolet's deficiencies. The first time I saw him pre-season it was obvious that, at best, he was not ready and, at worst, will never be good enough. I'd go as far as to say that, if he hadn't got injured, we would now be further away from Chelsea than we are now.

Luckily, he has not been tested until the Bournemouth game and look what happened there. Apart from 2 goals that an amateur would have saved, he dived on a cross and scooped it out for a corner, it could easily have been another goal. Another shot straight at him that he stuck his hands up, just hit him more by luck than judgement and could also have easily gone in.

If Andy Carroll plays tomorrow he will frighten him to death. My words might seem harsh, and I actually hope that I am wrong, but I am only looking at the evidence of my own eyes.

10.) 09 Dec 2016 23:09:00
Karius needs time, he's had what? 8 games is it, Mingolet had 3 years and was still making silly mistakes.
By the way HR great word regurgitating!

11.) 09 Dec 2016 23:44:45
Keep Karius in obviously, we should back him but we need to understand and I hope Klopp does as well that Karius simply can't be undroppable otherwise we can suffer if he has regular bad performances. We should back him and support him, but we can't stick with him if it becomes a regular trend with him, which I'm sure it won't be. We need to create competition between him and migs so they better each other and one stands out in the end, that would be the ideal scenario.

12.) 10 Dec 2016 00:30:30
Kloppometor - that's nice isn't it. Seriously how can you say he will never make it? how can anybody say that? your speaking out your backside mate. I strongly suggest you need to get wise instead of pointing the finger at others for supporting a young, potentially good keeper for the team we support.

13.) 10 Dec 2016 00:58:10
Its farking pathetic. Mignolet exhibits 3 years of absolute mediocity and finally gets dropped. A younger 'keeper has merely 8 games, some of which were dodgy, and now these 'experts' want his head, and the job given back to a goalkeeper who had a gazillion chances and proved to be no better.

14.) 10 Dec 2016 01:06:54
Spot on Ron.

15.) 10 Dec 2016 01:16:06
No doubt Klopp will stick with Karius, and he did have a few clean sheets on the trot. But really, does anyone have even the remotest confidence when he is in goal? Migs gave us an error a game but overall I felt pretty good when he was in goal.

16.) 10 Dec 2016 02:05:33
Kloppometer if you think karius is a dud what did you think of de gea in his first season? He cost them countless points and now one of the best keepers in the world. I think klopp has watched a lot more of him than yourself so I'll stand by his decision and won't 'wise up' to your assessment.

17.) 10 Dec 2016 02:06:41
Ed001 has alluded, numerous times, to Sky feeding topics to their pundits in order to create controversy. There isn't a single Sly pundit who doesn't chat complete nonsense consistently.
That Thompson said something as idiotic as these latest comments is somewhat surprising, still.

18.) 10 Dec 2016 02:43:34
Its possible to say that Rodgers arrogance in blindly sticking with Migs. ultimately cost him his job.
The defence and Migs in particular massively underperformed and made mistake after mistake wbich caused nervous uncertainty that leeched through the entire team.

I know Karius is young and still bedding in but I hope Klopp hasn't the same blind arrogance if things don't improve.

He seems unswerving about Sahko where I feel since the club are paying top wages and with our defensive injuries and other problems that Sakho could help out.
At the very least it would put him in a proper shop window with January coming.

19.) 10 Dec 2016 03:29:25
Lol, I never felt good when Mignolet was in goal.

If we want Karius to develop then we just need to stop crying and bear with him as he cuts his teeth. He's not going to improve if we dump him to bench every time he makes a mistake.

Not sticking up for clyne as i think he is terrible, but the only time i've seen him put in a good cross and assist from it was first game against arsenal for coutinho, i still think that barely made it through arsenals center backs legs aswell.
