Ox included in the champions league squad. Great news!

Parstheball

1.) 05 Feb 2019 17:18:42
I don’t see why it’s great news tbh mate. I like l other fans want to see the Ox back but want him back when he is fully fit. He won’t be able to play/ affect the games against Bayern and if we get past them maybe a cameo as sub at best.

2.) 05 Feb 2019 18:20:56
Too right Virgil, terrible news all round.

3.) 05 Feb 2019 18:30:56
Great news it sets him a goal to achieve and shows the club haven’t wrote him off this season!

4.) 05 Feb 2019 19:24:34
My reply above sounds a bit off. What I meant was it would of been better to have him back earlier in the season to help our cause. It’s good he is included in the CL squad but as Ed’s has said don’t expect much more than a cameo towards end of season.

5.) 05 Feb 2019 20:07:23
I was more aiming at its great to have him finally becoming fit and getting the chance to play again after a year out almost. I think its known all around that he isn't going to start matches and effect games ever matchday until the end of the season.

6.) 05 Feb 2019 20:19:44
He will make his return in the final minutes of the champions league final scoring a last minute wonder goal, winning it for us to complete a tasty league/ champs league double. 👍.

7.) 05 Feb 2019 20:32:47
I get what your saying Parstheball. Will be good to have him back.

8.) 05 Feb 2019 21:39:34
great news! Ox could add high energy to Bayern’s tired legs.

9.) 05 Feb 2019 22:01:26
I hope he settles quick. we need his quality in midfield. such a versatile player. I hope we get to see the hendo, wini and ox engine again this season.

10.) 05 Feb 2019 23:38:26
I think we are reading too much into it. There was a free space in the squad after the likes of Clyne and Dom left. We had no other new players to be registered for the squad. Even if we didn’t know if Ox will play a part for the rest of the season, it is common sense to bring him into the squad. Doesn’t mean he is recovered, doesn’t mean he is play. Does mean it is at least possible he will play - so I Guess it is good news, but not amazing news or something.

11.) 06 Feb 2019 07:56:51
Exactly my thoughts Klopping, that’s what I was trying to say on my initial reply to post but you’ve worded it much better lol.

12.) 06 Feb 2019 13:08:31
It's great news for him. As a player who helped us get to the CL final last season only to miss it through injury, it'll mean the world to him that if we progress in the tournament this year, he might just get to play a small part in it. That'll be huge for his mentality as he tries to get fit.

13.) 07 Feb 2019 22:58:17
I reckon mikey's nailed it sounds like he's the wise one.

06 Dec 2016 17:58:36
Hi eds. Just a quick one, have Liverpool show any interest in juan quintero? and if you have time, what do you make of the lads abilities? Good enough for liverpool and the premier league? Thanks.

Parstheball

{Ed001's Note - not that I am aware of, and I have not seen enough of the lad to judge him to be perfectly honest.}

21 Jun 2016 20:06:20
Ive looked through the search function. can't seem to find anything recent on ante coric. What happened? I thought liverpool were interested?

Cheers.

Parstheball

{Ed002's Note - Ante Coric of Dinamo Zagreb is destined for an excellent career if he doesn't move too early - but Chelsea, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Spurs and Manchester City are very keen. His club are aware of this interest and the tentative interest of other sides, such as West Ham, who have not had discussions with his representatives or his club.}

1.) 21 Jun 2016 21:29:17
Great reply. Thankyou.

What is everyones thoughts with the cbs when joe is fit? Lovren playing well atm so hardly deserves to be dropped, but joe was awesome before his injury. Interested to see peoples thoughts.

Parstheball

1.) 26 Dec 2018 20:50:19
I see nothing wrong with rotating 3 CB's for 2 positions, with all 3 playing well. Lovren can play on both the right and the left. It's the perfect and ideal situation. It's a long season with lots of games and injuries happen also. There's very little dropoff in quality when one plays for the other. It's far better than having Klavan being VVD's sub.

2.) 26 Dec 2018 20:54:15
I think Joe will 100% make that spot his own long term as long as he remains fit, but right now he doesn't need to rush back too soon and can take as much time as he needs to recover, Lovren is a great back-up.

I'd actually be interested to see Gomez and Lovren play as CBs together and let VVD rest at some point, VVD can't play every game!

We also have the option for Gomez to play RB if we need a big more strength at the back.

Have some great defensive options at the moment! They just need to stay fit.

3.) 26 Dec 2018 20:56:57
Yes Matip was playing well too before he got injured but yes Lovren has been great.
I think I'd go with Gomez though, just love that extra speed that he brings. Gomez and VVD have to be the fastest CB pairing in the league.

4.) 26 Dec 2018 21:08:09
It’s Joe.

He’s better.

5.) 26 Dec 2018 21:14:44
For me Gomez should start as CB . I think he is the better player out of our 3 choices also got more pace than the others. We've also got the option to play Gomez at RB when TAA needs a break. The main thing though is Van Dijk playing alongside Matip Lovren or Gomez has improved the performances off all 3 .

6.) 26 Dec 2018 21:37:58
Buy a 4th cb and then we can rotate them all.

De ligt obviously.

Him and Gomez long long term.

Vvd can't be dropped right now and that's a dangerous position!

7.) 26 Dec 2018 21:39:54
Gomez and Lovren will have to play together with VVD banned for champions league 1st leg. Wouldn’t be a bad thing to practice a bit first.

8.) 26 Dec 2018 21:45:03
We need them all fit and ready to go, Matip included.

9.) 26 Dec 2018 22:45:43
Will Gomez and Lovren start a game for better familiarity before the first leg of the CL when VVD is suspended?

10.) 26 Dec 2018 22:26:17
@GeorgeT. You're saying VVD can't play every game, but he doesn't even seem to get tired. Whenever he's available, he should play. He seems to coast through games (not in a bad way) and rarely needs to break a sweat.

11.) 26 Dec 2018 22:31:27
Keep the rotation going once everyone is fit again to keep them all sharp. Still half a season to go.

12.) 26 Dec 2018 22:47:48
Lovren is playing well at the moment BUT you always know there’s a rick in him and it’s just around the corner.

13.) 26 Dec 2018 23:45:18
Ron, Gomez and VVD have made mistakes this season as well so singling out Lovren as if he's the only one who could make a mistake, makes no sense to me. As for who to start when Gomez and Matip return, it will be up to the form of the players at that time.

If Lovs continues to play a blinder then Gomez nor Matip do not need to be rushed back just for the sake of it. They will have to earn that spot from Lovs if that is the case and if it is not then, Klopp will make the right decision.

14.) 26 Dec 2018 23:59:17
Lads if we keep winning I honestly couldn't care who's on the pitch (not meant to be offensive or sound bitchy btw) . Table wise we are sound, performance wise we seem to be getting better. Didn't see the game in full today. Saw the first half. Hopefully we will come through the next few league games still in a good position. It's great that we seem to have quality challenging for most positions. Hopefully that improves over the next few windows. The balance of the squad has definitely better. It's hard not to get excited especially as we know there's another level or two that we are capable of. When we have a result go against us it's going to be how fast we bounce back. City in my opinion are still favouites for all the trophies we are going for simply because I think they have a better overall squad but if we do well on the injury front there's no reason why we can't pick up a trophy this season. Whether it's big ears again, the fa cup or even the big one, I'm going to enjoy it.

15.) 27 Dec 2018 01:21:39
Play Lovren until he messes up or gets injured for me. Don’t see the logic in dropping a player who’s playing well.

16.) 27 Dec 2018 04:38:17
I'm a proponent of keeping the same CB pairing unless an injury occurs. Then whoever comes in has their chance to claim the spot. The exception here is VVD who is automatic 1st choice when fit, the othet poaitions should go to chemiatry and form.

So, unfortunately Gomez has gotten himself an injury and Lovren been oitatanding. So barring an injury to Lovren, when Gomez is fit he will have to ride the pine!

25 Aug 2018 20:14:49
Just wondering if teams can change a players number through the season? Only asking as karius is going/ gone and allison could take the no.1 jersey?

Cheers.

Parstheball

1.) 25 Aug 2018 20:35:53
I think they would have to wait until January's when the players are registered again. Not 100% on that though.

2.) 25 Aug 2018 23:52:41
Does it matter, also whoever bought a number 13 shirt would be pissed.

3.) 26 Aug 2018 07:20:21
Im not saying if it matters. Im asking if its possible.

4.) 26 Aug 2018 09:13:39
13’s the new 1.

{Ed001's Note - 13 is my lucky number, he should stick with it.}

5.) 26 Aug 2018 10:07:05
3 clean sheets out of 3. Might be his lucky number now. Certainly confident with thag chip over the Brighton forward!

02 Jul 2018 16:23:45
Ive been watching allison in every game since the champions league 1st leg vs us and i honestly can't see what the fuss is all about with him. Flaps at crosses and his kicking is atrocious. Im not saying he is bad. But for the money people are saying he would cost id rather keep karius.

Parstheball

1.) 02 Jul 2018 16:49:07
Whether or not karius feels he has a home at anfield after all the death threats is another thing unfortunately.

2.) 02 Jul 2018 17:21:38
I haven't seen much of him but I can't see what all the fuss is about if I'm honest. That said, keepers don't shine in every game. He's no David de gea though, more a kasper smicheal from what I've seen.

3.) 02 Jul 2018 17:29:57
If we’re not prepared to stump up for Oblak, all the other touted options are a false economy.

4.) 02 Jul 2018 17:31:31
Now we've had time for the dust to settle I really don't think we've seen the end of Karius. He had 1 bad game. It was the media saying "he's played his last game at this level" no one from the club has said anything like that. Those in the business know that people have bad games and I don't think they would ditch a 1st team asset for one poor performance. The truth is he had started playing really well and I don't see a professional outfit like Liverpool having a knee jerk reaction. I don't see the point in signing the likes of butland, smicheal or chilleson as Karius is easily at their level. I was one of the first to say "we need a new keeper" but I'm starting to change my mind. Karius was improving and if he's the keeper come the start of the season then I'll be alright with that.

{Ed025's Note - then you are easily pleased my friend..

5.) 02 Jul 2018 17:37:58
Nah I'm not ed025, I just don't think liverpool will stump up for Alison or oblak, I expect them to stick with Karius and I'm preparing myself, mentally, for that.

{Ed025's Note - i think you may be right PH, however that does not mean its the right decision mate..

6.) 02 Jul 2018 17:48:54
FMS- I reckon you’re probably a keeper, given your strong options on the matter. Now that you have nailed your colours to Oblak’s mast- what are your thoughts re him currently playing in a very defensive set up, and how/ whether he would adapt to LFC’s style? Thanks.

7.) 02 Jul 2018 18:10:52
I think he could easily adapt. The point is that when he’s called upon, he’s ready and never loses focus or concentration. Has incredible reflexes and rarely gets beaten by a soft shot or on crosses, unlike Navas, Schmeichel, Pope, Cillessen or Butland who each have flaws in their games, Navas, Schmeichel and Cillessen being the worst offenders. He’s the only keeper in world footballer on a par with de Gea. Get Oblak in and that’s the keeper position sorted for 10 years. Get any of the others and you’ll all be demanding a new keeper next season.

8.) 02 Jul 2018 17:46:46
I'm torn about butland. He has had injury problems and is not adverse to the odd mistake. He could be a brilliant keeper but atm he is behind even pickford who is good but not great.

If you were reds manager ed025, what would you do dude?

{Ed025's Note - i would pay the dosh for either allison or oblak PH, a top keeper is worth about 10 points a season in reality and that could mean the difference between winning the league or not, easy to say i suppose as its not my money mate..

9.) 02 Jul 2018 18:42:57
Frankly could I borrow your time machine when you are done with it? Cheers.

10.) 02 Jul 2018 18:45:14
Ed025 could not agree with you more. Oblak is worth 10-15 points a season and at 25, he’s a ten year investment. Why skimp and end up with dregs like Navas or Cillessen?

{Ed025's Note - thats my view as well FMS, if the reds get oblak then i would fancy them for the league, if they stick with calamitous then i think you may come up short mate but thats just my view of course..

11.) 02 Jul 2018 18:49:07
Kramer, so if we sign Navas and he makes the sorts of blunders he regularly makes for Madrid, you’d be happy with that? He makes Bogdan look competent.

12.) 02 Jul 2018 18:49:21
I didn't see the game. Did he throw the ball to a Mexican striker and drop one in his own net like Karius in the champions league final?

13.) 02 Jul 2018 19:00:05
Blimey LiverpoolFC8 that was savage!

14.) 02 Jul 2018 19:12:19
I’d be happy with Butland to be honest and I’m not going to slate any player who we are linked with because then you get people saying things like the Ox is no better than Andros Townsend.

15.) 02 Jul 2018 19:25:29
Athletic Madrid are in a similar situation to Liverpool. 3rd 4th in the league trying to catch the Barcelona and Madrid. Why would they even consider selling oblak? If he is that good then would they sell him?

I think Liverpool's ucl run and recent signings put us on the notch above athletic Madrid and I firmly believe we are the better team. If it was a case of 70/ 80 mil for oblak and he would sign, Madrid would sdll then I agree with ed025 and everyone, sign him.

The next oblak, de gea must be out there though.

16.) 02 Jul 2018 19:31:04
Happy with either Oblak or Alisson and it is long overdue that Liverpool take this issue seriously. We have not had a great keeper since Grobelaar and that is too long. Almost 30 years for goodness sake. And we wonder why we are still waiting? Every time I read “I’d be happy with Butland” or “What about Schmeichel? ” it makes my blood boil.

17.) 02 Jul 2018 19:46:12
Kramer, so if we were linked with Wayne Rooney you’d not criticise that? Ridiculous comment.

18.) 02 Jul 2018 19:03:12
Ed025, a keeper like him gives defenders confidence and attackers doubts.

{Ed025's Note - exactly mate..

19.) 02 Jul 2018 19:40:10
Calamitous, haha.
Is that your own Ed025 or off social media somewhere?

{Ed025's Note - my own juicer, i think its very appropriate mate.. :)

20.) 02 Jul 2018 19:53:14
Not if Klopp wanted him, I trust that the manager and scouts know more than me when it comes to players. I don’t think I am the utmost authority on players and I don’t think I know more than everybody else.

21.) 02 Jul 2018 21:29:53
Reina had some great seasons. We always had a great defensive record with him in the sticks although that probably had something to do with Hypia and carragher.

22.) 02 Jul 2018 21:31:15
Butland B4 anyone please please please. If oblack was to come it would only be for 2 seasons then the top teams will come calling.

{Ed025's Note - liverpool are a top team walter..

23.) 02 Jul 2018 22:06:12
I disagree ed025, we’re not a “top team”.

We have only won 1 league cup in 10 years. Only 1 of our last 4 managers have won anything. We rarely compete in our domestic league.
If we were a top team Torres, Suarez, Sterling and Coutinho wouldn’t have been agitating for moves.

{Ed025's Note - maybe i should have said clubs ron, with its history liverpool are one of the biggest in the world and will always attract top talent, yes a few have left but that happens in football and for me its money orientated rather than winning things but then again im a sceptic, under klopp the good times are just around the corner mate and as much as it irks me to say it i have a lot of respect for the club..

24.) 02 Jul 2018 23:12:06
For me, I deal with reality. There is a diff. btw what you want and what you can get. We all want a top GK to come BUT clearly, we are not going to get the Oblaks and Allisson of today so to me, no point talking andd getting frustrated with things that you can't control. It relieves a lot of stress. Keeping Karius may not be the right decision BUT hey, if the manager feels that the GK's he wants are not available, he may not want bandaids like Butland, Pope or "insert young GK here" who won't fix the prob almost immediately.

Remember, if say Butland came, he will make his mistakes as well during the bedding in process and what will happen then? People will lose their marbles again and say, "we might have just let KArius build his form co at least we know what he can or can't do" stuff cos you know, that hindsight thingy makes people sound like geniuses.

We all know that Klopp does not settle for players he does not want. I think the only one he settled for was Robbo and he did a great job with him as he is very coachable. If Klopp wants to settle for Karius cos at least, he knows where to improve him esp. mentally, I suggest people get with the program and get behind him cos till he leaves this great club, he is one of us and deserves all our support, mistakes or not. I know he has mine.

25.) 02 Jul 2018 23:39:25
I remember a certain Ronaldo leaving United when they were winning stuff. And United were just about THE top team then.

26.) 03 Jul 2018 02:17:14
Liverpool played real Madrid for the champions league. We have Firmino, salah, Henderson, keita and van diike. Of course we are a top team.

We are the only team who really handled City, not to mention roma, porto and others. We out scored every other team in Europe. Again, we are a top team.

27.) 03 Jul 2018 04:32:50
If the Champions League finalists aren’t a top team then you must have a very narrow definition of a top team.

28.) 03 Jul 2018 19:59:10
Spot on, Kramer and Prince. If a team that has reached the EL and CL finals in two out of the last 3 season, is not a top team then such people need to explain to us their definition of a top team cos I am totally lost.

29.) 03 Jul 2018 22:52:41
A top team wins trophies. League titles mean more than knockout trophies. Ed002 will help you with the reasons players leave but it’s generally money, profile and success.

We don’t have an issue with money or profile, we do with success.

24 Jun 2018 18:11:58
That honda player looks decent. Have we ever been linked with him?

Parstheball

1.) 24 Jun 2018 18:15:44
Senegal's no. 10 was quite good. Right place at the right time and celebrates like Salah. Should sign him asap.

2.) 24 Jun 2018 18:25:34
Would rather Arda Turan to be honest.

3.) 24 Jun 2018 18:40:58
Either this is a joke or my time machine works.

4.) 24 Jun 2018 19:04:51
Oh the nostalgia 😊
What ever happened to Simao Sambrosa?

5.) 24 Jun 2018 20:45:09
Ofcourse its a joke.

6.) 24 Jun 2018 22:09:10
Joaquin signing soon after a cheeky bid from us. Remember where you saw it first.

7.) 24 Jun 2018 23:13:31
That Honda guy, he's got a good engine.

8.) 24 Jun 2018 23:50:17
Has vision and plays with a real melody.

9.) 24 Jun 2018 23:58:42
Come on guys, why would we want any of these players when the mighty Carlton Cole is on the way 😆.

10.) 25 Jun 2018 04:07:48
Damn. You just stole my Simao reference.

11.) 25 Jun 2018 06:25:24
Van der Vaart and Taribo West.

12.) 25 Jun 2018 06:57:33
We are 100% getting Wesley Sneijder this summer.

13.) 25 Jun 2018 08:37:56
I'd happily snap up the Owen Hargreaves guys, heard something from a not so skinny guy who was last seen in Bolton that Fergie fancies his flow but then again the guy who's sister in law happeneds to know the lady who helps Rafa rose his roses said his name is first on the to do list after Instanbul celebrations.

I still remember migs going to clear a ball rolling across goal, but taking so long (under no pressure) it went out for a corner. The guy literally took about 10 seconds to make up his mind.
