Can hardly bash Lovren for having the bottle to take a pen, but the 5th one? Why would we let the player who is arguably lowest on confidence and a centre back (not that, that necessarily matters) take that.

All ifs and buts, but pretty grim seeing the abuse he got on Twitter etc. When many players, after the season he's having would have completely shyed away

Don't understand why Moreno didn't take it. The lad can hit the ball very well.

2.) 27 Feb 2015 15:14:47
I think Lovren has improved since we have moved to a back three and Migs playing better than ever, now, should he have taken the 5th pen, and can someone tell me, I thought his best or strongest leg was his left, but he took the pen with his right leg ?
maybe one for EMS .

3.) 27 Feb 2015 15:51:01
Lovren is right footed.

4.) 27 Feb 2015 16:23:03
I don't understand why Kolo did not take one. He buried his pen in the african nations cup final.
He would have netted. He is Kolo after all!!

5.) 27 Feb 2015 18:30:23
Lovren even taken one was quite brave considering ghe season he was having wish he just hit it down the middle played it safe poor fella can't catch a break (I taught he was going to be the answer)

Is Henderson a shoe-in for captaincy or are other candidates being seriously considered?

Although he's knew to the club I wouldn't mind giving it to Can. He could be in our midfield for the next 10 years, vocal and I think definitely has the potential to be better than Henderson (as much as he's improved)

German u21 captain. Could be worth a shout?

1.) Henderson has a back story of determination. The problem with Can is if he does end up as world class, will he be loyal to Liverpool? I think Henderson is the best option at the moment.

2.) Hendo's too volatile for me at the moment. He needs to keep his emotions in check to lead effectively.

If we can keep him on the pitch Studge is a call for me, though I think Can could come through in the net few years if he stays.

3.) Piledriver I think you've a valid point, but for me can hasn't been here long enough to warrant the captaincy yet anyway.

If can does end up world class which he should would Bayern be his destination?

Henderson for me, with Lucas vice captain. If Lucas leaves then Skrtel.

Red Rum

5.) Lallana or Sakho

6.) As long as it's not Sterling, he'd want another £20k p/w

7.) Lucas Leiva should be persuaded to stay at the club and be made captain.

Hendo vice captain.

8.) What about joe allen, maybe it will make him play better.

9.) I think Sakho is possible a good long term option for captain. He has proven his determination to stick out the hard times and get back in the team, just as Hendo did. In addition to that he has captained France at all youth levels and was PSG captain for a bit. I think he would thrive on the responsibility, and I think Hendo makes a fantastic Vice-Captain, passion, endurance and a great role model.

We need a leader as a captain now, for years we had Stevie who led by example but was never the encouraging vocal force you see from all of the best captain's (Terry, Ferdinand, Adams)

Just my two penneth anyway

{Ed002's Note - Sakho will never be captain.}

10.) Will Sakho then shout at himself (or put his own are around his other shoulder depending on his captaining style) when he inevitably makes a mistake in a game.

11.) I would give it to Skrtel before Sakho. In fact, you could make a good case for Martin to be, at the very least, VC next year. Lucas is another I would choose, but I don't think he'll be here long term.

Lallana, if he could return to top form and stay consistent, would make a good captain (and I personally feel he'll finish his career here either way). Before his transfer, I would have said he was an ideal candidate to replace Gerrard as both captain and 'attacking' midfielder.

I rate Can highly but he'd need another season or two with us (and he'd have to pledge his future to us) before I'd rec him for captain. Hamann was VC, and I think we'll see Can eclipse even if the great Didi!

Coutinho is a possibility that few consider, probably because he's not a robust player. He seems to get on with everyone and is well liked/an integral player. If Sterling decides to sign a new contract, I could see him being in the mix in a year or so.

TL;DR: I think it should be someone who plays in 95% of games when fit, ie. Henderson, Skrtel or Sturridge (in that order).

12.) 19 Feb 2015 16:53:52
We have loads of options but I think Hendo should be captain. I'm not convinced we need a vice captain in terms of having a named person, but my pick would be Lucas, then Lallana, then Sakho.

spot on red rum

14.) 19 Feb 2015 19:59:00
i know he is injured at the moment but what about flanno, with him being a scouser

15.) 19 Feb 2015 22:17:31
Can could but I think Hendo can and will.

Ed002, why will Sakho never be captain?

{Ed002's Note - Sakho's English is poor.}

Yes it's very odd of you to deliberate as to why a club would spend 50 million on a player this summer when could be dirt cheap next which could ultimately attract other clubs (such as the ones in London that have been stated to have shown an interest this summer).

Don't understand why your replies are alsways so derogatory and demeaning ed. You make questions seem stupid and you to be the mighty wielder of all transfer knowledge. There is no need and you act as if we are dependent on you. This is one reader who is sick of your tone and will not be returning to the site.

keep up the good work!

Don't think it's anyone 'piling pressure' was the same at Chelsea. I think he's a great player and I'm happy to have him, but it doesn't mean he can abstain from criticism. Players can always improve
