Any stand out players in the world cup you would like us to sign realistically? Thomas Meunier had a cracker yesterday, the movement and spaces he gets into were quality.

OP, To sign a WC stand out, you have to have been scouting him WAY before the WC began. As for Meunier who I have been watching since last season at PSG for a bit, is a very good FB but is suspect defensively. As for the standout player so far? One player: Luka Modric.

You shouldn't sign players based just on wc performances but you shouldn't just disregard them either.

I've always thought we need a plan b, someone big we can lib the ball at in the tail end of games. I thought we might sign lorente last summer. People tell me solanke is that plan b but although he is quite tall I don't really class him as a "big man"
Whoever signs cavan however will do so so he can spearhead their attack, not as a ten minute plan b.

I don't think we need a plan b what we need is to make stronger our plan a with a better gk, if possible a new cb better than matip and lovren, a playmaker like coutinho and a player who can cover salah mane or firmino.

Now it seems alison is off the radar and karius our number one at present. realistically who do we need to go for? I can't see us signing oblak. stick with karius or go for the other mentioned keepers I. e cillesen, butland, pope or any other keepers worldwide? What we thinking?

Stick with Karius if the other option is to spend a fortune on someone who might not be an improvement. Support the lad and he may surprise us. I wouldn't be against Ward getting a shot to prove himself either.

Unless we decide to go for someone top level like Oblak, Alisson or Courtois, then we should stick with Karius and bring someone with huge potential in to try to take that spot. I've decided to stop looking at the transfer rumours and start enjoying the world cup.

Spot on, boys. Stick with who you have if the true upgrades are not available. You don't buy some other bloke who is prolly NOT better than Karius (Pope, Butland, Fabianski etc) . Allison, Oblak, Leno are off the radar so everyone better get ready for Karius/ Ward in goal for next season. at least.

Sorry, do you mean floored as in knocked to the floor or flawed as in has flaws? The boxing analogy could go either way with that one.
He was never going to be a top keeper. That match won't have helped and the way the whole world will now be waiting for him to fail again will only make it worse. If he recovers and becomes what we all hope he will, I shall doth my cap. I won't be holding my breath on that one, however.

Bardzo, I meant floored. First time a boxer gets badly knocked out it’s VERY rare they ever fully recover.
There are a few exceptional champions who did, like Lewis.

I can see us signing Fekir after the world cup and this whole saga will be great news to us fans. I can't help feel when the deal goes through it will try to cover up the loss of new goalkeeper we desperately need and we go again with karius as number one, we need a top goalkeeper signed and with the amounts requested for the best keepers in the world I just can't see us pulling it off. Invest in the best and we will be challenging at the highest level for years to come. we need a squad of worldies not wanna be's.

Karius is not garbage. He had a shocker in the final but he will never make those mistakes again. Pretty sure of that.
U don't necessarily need a world class GK to win trophies, Real and City r testament to that. Karius imo is better than Navas and Hart so rather than obsessing over a new GK who might not be an improvement, I say we strengthen our depth in attack and midfield with a CAM, backup winger etc.

Hasn't karius copped enough abuse? He certainly isn't garbage. What would make things NOT improve would be if we do go with karius again and he gets more of the same crap from fans as the last few weeks.
