Saw a lot of rumours that Van Dijk has won PFA player of the season and that it will be announced tomorrow.

1.) 24 Apr 2019 17:57:56
Had it won by Xmas really didn't he! impeccable.

2.) 24 Apr 2019 18:12:18
I just read the same.

3.) 24 Apr 2019 23:07:37
He won it by a country mile .
what a player .

Hi ed001

Hope you are well. Any idea if negotiations have started regarding a new contract for Gini?

{Ed001's Note - no, but I do expect him to get a new one.}

1.) 03 Apr 2019 11:55:23
Do you think he's been a good buy ed since we've had him?
Seems to of stepped up a bit this year.

{Ed001's Note - yes, he has proven himself to be a key player this season.}

2.) 03 Apr 2019 13:38:41
Looks like buying Keita for a vast sum has brought Gini to life. Needs more goals though, our midfield feels very light in that respect!

3.) 03 Apr 2019 19:58:40
I agree, if we play two go Hendo Gini or Fabinho, there’s no reason why the others can’t be More attacking, at least a ‘fill the box’ type of cm.

Hi ed001

I hope you are well. I asked in early October whether the club see Lewis as Moreno' s replacement or if we would sign a replacement but it was too early to tell and I said I would again in March (It was under my old user name Oubaas can Zyl)

So I therefore ask if we see Lewis as this option or are we looking to sign a left back? If so who do the club have in mind?

Thank you for your knowledge and insight.

{Ed001's Note - it is looking like it will be a signing as things stand mate. Someone like Aaron Martin seems to be the favourite. A player whose contract is running down. I can't remember who else was suggested but it is not seen as a massive priority, so it will be someone who is near the end of a contract or out of contract, most likely. Unless Moreno decides to stay, there is still a contract offer for him on the table.}

1.) 20 Mar 2019 09:16:52
Aaron Martin from League 2 side Exeter Ed?

{Ed002's Note - Espanyol, but Mainz has an option to buy him in the summer.}

2.) 20 Mar 2019 09:17:25
Google Aaron Martin and it was returning the chap from Exeter City and I was sat there wondering what was happening for a moment. Then I see there's a young chap from Mainz!

{Ed002's Note - Espanyol, but Mainz has an option to buy.}

3.) 20 Mar 2019 09:40:26
Was hoping we wouldn’t be looking at Div2 players Ed lol. Anyone else in the frame then for LB, not heard his name mentioned on here before tbh.

4.) 20 Mar 2019 15:35:45
hahaha. Yes the Spain U21 international Aaron Martin, not the 29 year old Exeter City centre-back Aaron Martin, with all due respect to him. :)

Other notable young left-backs with contracts expiring in 2020 include Hertha's Maximilian Mittelstädt who's having a good season and Rennes' Ramy Bensebaini, who I saw against Arsenal and looked decent if unspectacular.

5.) 20 Mar 2019 16:17:25
Thank you so much ed001.

{Ed001's Note - very welcome.}

Hi Ed001

Based on the amount of right wingers we have (lack of natural left wingers) coupled with the eventual need to add English players to the squad. do we hold any interest in Sancho and in your opinion would he be a good signing?

{Ed001's Note - we have Wilson and Kent who are left wingers who will be back for next season. Look Sancho has done really well against tired legs in a league where players get more time and space than in England. Until those kind of performances are produced when he starts, then he is not ready.

As for interest, I am sure the club will take a look at him, but we have shown no genuine interest, nor should we when you consider the amount of money he would cost.}

1.) 02 Feb 2019 20:04:14
Agree with the need to get a right footed left inside forward in the summer (could well be a player who is flexible across this role and CF), but don’t know if Jadon is a prudent purchase given his likely price after Dortmund sold pulisic.

2.) 03 Feb 2019 08:41:26
Thanks for the reply Ed001

When I have seen Wilson he has been on the right wing but I haven't watched him regularly so you might be right about him playing on the left.

Regarding Kent I feel his future lies elsewhere.

{Ed001's Note - they both can play either flank, though you may be right about Kent.}

Hi ed001

Do the club see Hoever as ready to provide cover for next season and if not is there any interest from teams in taking him on loan?

{Ed001's Note - he is not seen as ready yet, far too early to ask about loans for him.}

1.) 19 May 2019 20:46:41
He’s still very young, I will assume he will be in the U23’s training around the first team.

2.) 19 May 2019 21:20:13
I think he, along with Gomez will cover rightback when Trent is rested or touch wood, injured.

3.) 19 May 2019 21:43:21
Well buying the league worked for Man U Chelsea and Man City so ill go with it as long as it brings sustainable success.

red deano
YNWA.

4.) 19 May 2019 22:45:15
Everyone buys the league except Leicester. PSG, Barca, Real, Bayern, Juve all buy the league. It is just we have spend the money and can't buy the league.

Gomez is not a good rb he should only play cb.

5.) 19 May 2019 23:00:37
I think that its much more than buying success, you have to bring in the right players, city have been lucky with their midfield players, united have been unlucky with players like Pogba and silly players on huge huge wages, who only care about their pay cheque,
we bring in the right players, and its only better we will be .

6.) 19 May 2019 23:08:33
Well buying the league worked for Man U Chelsea and Man City so
==================================
Lets no forget blackburn rovers of 1992.

19 May 2019 19:35:36
If we were to sign Brandt he will have a vital role to play.

Certain games he will play as an attacking midfielder.

Certain certain games he would fill in for Mane at left forward.

Certain games Firmino might be unavailable and Mane goes to the middle with Brandt at left forward. Alternatively Salah goes middle Mane right and Brandt left.

Certain games Salah might be unavailable and Mane goes right with Brandt left.

Of course there will be competition with the other sqaud members Origi, Brewster, Shaq etc but that's my outline and how he would be used.

1.) 19 May 2019 20:11:46
Ed002 explained yesterday that he has 2 offers on the table and that he/ she doubts Lfc will make an offer at all for him.

I think we should move on from him.

2.) 19 May 2019 22:35:05
He is off to Dortmund it would seem.

3.) 19 May 2019 23:04:34
Dortmund bound he is, that Brazilian winger from Ajax would be a god fit, as he can play on either wing, very fast too .

11 May 2019 07:21:11
I have said it before and will say it again. If we win the Champions League and Netherlands win the Nations League. We will be signing 'He's our number 4 and he's won Balon d'or' . A champions league win would give him a Top 2 finish at least.

22 Apr 2019 15:09:02
The way rival fans troll Klopp you would never guess that the only current Premier League managers to ever win the Premier League are Pep and Pelegrini. Both with City and both on 1 occasion each.

1.) 22 Apr 2019 15:47:20
Another thing to note.

All the managers to win the PL as far back as Mancini in 2012 were gone from their jobs within two years of winning it, usually sooner. Mr. Ferguson retired, and all the rest (Mancini, Pellegrini, Mourinho, Ranieri, Conte, ) were basically sacked.

Pep's probably going to buck the trend though. Unless City sack him after we win the league this year, but I doubt it.

2.) 22 Apr 2019 18:59:48
SR, City just extended Pep's contract last season so they are ALL in with him, no if's or but's about it. If we win the PL and of course, he got dumped out by Spurs in the CL, he will at least IMO, get another two years to win the CL particularly. If he can't in the next two seasons then, they may either give him one more year or go another route.

21 Apr 2019 19:18:12
I hope I misread the clip I saw but it seemed Salah was upset that Milner took the penalty and he wanted to take it himself. I really hope that was not the case.

1.) 21 Apr 2019 19:48:13
Pens are a huge chance for a striker to score, it’s good to see he wanted it and it’s good to see Milner confident enough to say he is the pen taker.

I wouldn’t read too much in to it it’s another three points and I’m sure salah will be up for Friday.

2.) 21 Apr 2019 21:06:54
Good! I hope Mo was upset!

I want all 11 players to want to take the penalty, they should all be chomping at the bit to score.
Great omen if it’s true 👍.

3.) 21 Apr 2019 22:17:07
Nothing to see here.

4.) 22 Apr 2019 01:02:12
Dude is fighting for the golden boot. But you can't be mad once Milner tucks it away.

5.) 22 Apr 2019 00:40:47
Mountain and mole hill spring to mind Milner is our pen taker when on the pitch.

Seen these rumours and while I hope he stays I wouldn't hold it against him if he would want to leave. Great back up and we might struggle to find a better back up centre back who is comfortable playing in a defence with a high line.

Ed do you know if he is looking to leave?

{Ed002's Note - I really don't know.)

Now we know how Griezmann lost all those finals. It was that hotline bling celebration! He won the world cup, Europa League and Spanish Cup when he eventually stopped. Seems the Drake curse extends to his songs as well.

Thanks for your reply Ed001

Instagram has become so engraved in players lives. You aren't seen as a powerful marketing tool if you don't use it so many players don't want to miss out on that.

I admit I use Instagram too much and do check regularly what players post. Lovren and Salah are extremely close as they are always posting about each other.

{Ed001's Note - I have no interest in any of those kind of things to be honest. Most Prem players now have social media teams who do the posting for them, so it is just bollox.}

Hi ed001

He said he doesn't know whose idea it was to play him as a right back but he will show them they are mistaken. It was after scoring a hat trick for the u/ 23s yesterday from the right forward position.

{Ed001's Note - doesn't sound so bad, he was only put at right back because he was good and there was no one else to go there. It is up to him to prove that it was a mistake because he is good enough to make it as an attacking player. Young players need to have that kind of fire in their belly, they should be looking to prove people wrong. It was what drove Harry Kane on, for instance. Usually players only develop it when they flop and drop down the leagues, hopefully he will have it now and will be constantly working to prove himself.}
