Just a stat to present to any vociferous (gobby) United friends (if you have any! )

Providing we finish 3rd today, over the last 5 seasons the average finishing positions would be:

Liverpool - 4.6
United 4.8

If we finish 4th, both average positions will be 4.8.

{Ed002's Note - What about over the past 10 seasons?}

1.) 13 May 2018 16:26:22
Ed002 - 2.9 (United) and 5.4 (Liverpool)

Of course I did the calculations to suit my own agenda 😊.

Atleast your honest lol.

Top 4 can be secured if Burnley beat Chelsea at Turf Moor on Thursday, and we beat West Brom Saturday, because we'll have 73 points and Chelsea will then only be able to get 72.

Hopefully Chelsea will have one eye on the FA Cup semi final, at the weekend.

Southamptons let us down today i reckon.

2.) 15 Apr 2018 05:58:25
Yes, and they'll get deservedly relegated for such a pathetic, juvenile capitulation.
I hope they look back at that Chelsea game and ponder for years.

3.) 15 Apr 2018 06:09:21
Southampton didn’t let us down, they don’t owe us any favours, the only people they let down is themselves.

4.) 15 Apr 2018 07:14:34
We have to fully focus on winning and not worry about anyone else mate.

I have to say Lowe, you can’t be so critical too Southampton. It looks like we’ve improved our defensive woes with the aqusition of VVD, before then, capitulation has been a word very much associated with our team.

5.) 15 Apr 2018 07:25:45
Yes the sun revolves around lfc and southampton consequently let us down lol.

6.) 15 Apr 2018 08:07:42
The referee let Southampton down by failing to give a red card to Alonso. That was a massive (wrong) decision. Luckily it should't impact on Liverpool because of the relatively large points difference between Liverpool and Chelsea but it has certainly put Southampton deeper in the mire and even if the F. A. decides to suspend Alonso the damage is already done. I don't mind the club going down as I want to see Hughes create a unique double, managing two relegated clubs in one season.

you lot need to lighten up a little.

Will take that, all day long.

Clean sheet and 3 points.

1 point better off than this stage last season, and good rotation from Klopp.

The same performance but without the 3 points would you take that too? The only good thing today about the team was the 3 points. Against a better team which we will face very soon we would be ripped to shreds. Don't let the 3 points fool you.

I *was* watching the Champions League Semi, but I've now decided to watch an old VHS of "George Graham's 50 Greatest 1-0 Wins."

Much more exciting.

So. A football match *still* lasts 90 minutes.

How do you half time whingers feel now?

Considering:

1. Stoke had only lost once in 12 months at home.

2. They were unbeaten at home in (at least) the last 5 PL games, including a win against Chelsea.

3. We've never beaten Stoke away in the PL.

4. Prior to today Stoke had only conceded 7 goals at home all season.

That is the most satisfying result of the season.

The sort of result that seasons are made on.

Harry,

Napoli lost to City, Shaktar and Feyenoord in the Champions League and RB Leipzig in the Europa League, last season.

Common_sense moyes

Would you agree, that the most important thing is where you finish in the league?

Historically, that has been the bread and butter for both our teams.

If United finish 2nd this year, and we finish 4th, the average league positions for the last 5 seasons will be 4.8 for both Liverpool and United.

In that scenario, comparatively speaking, Liverpool are most definitely the team "on the up".

Beyond that, comparing the playing styles of both sides for the majority of the last 5 years, there's only one team worth paying to watch.

And it's not United.
