Makes no sense for us to go after another attacking mid. Even if the intention is to move certain players on we can't keep adding players to the squad before finding buyers for the ones we have.

Even a similar deal to what we did with Origi, buy and loan back. But then that is a lot of ifs and the biggest if would be . would be good IF this wasn't just a bull rumour.

Has anyone thought that were getting deals done before we look to sell because doing it the other way around let's selling teams know we've got sheds full of money thus putting the prices for players up by millions? Simplistic view but feasible.

So if we sold coutinho for £75 million and say firmino £55 million and benteke for £30 million before buying mane and wijnaldum then Southampton and Newcastle wouldn't have tried it on over the price ed002? Of course I know your answer but I have a suspicion the asking prices would have gone up considerably but it's purely academic as we'll never know wither way for sure.

I'm astounded at how much negativity on here our fans are giving wynaldum. Just because the guy got relegated does not mean he's a bad player mark viduka and Roy Keane where relegated both with apparent bad attitudes. I personally think if used in a deeper attacking role beside Milner or can he has the ability to arrive late into the box and get real joy surrounded by better players I seen him do it for Holland and Newcastle and I'm convinced he's going to be good for us. I just hope he's a sensation and 3 quarters of this site eat there words.

You clearly haven't watched him play. He literally offers nothing. No pace, no skill, no guile, no work rate and no bottle. That's why a lot of us are unhappy. He's nowhere near a £20m player.

I'm upset not because I dislike him as a player but simply because I don't think we need him, he plays in what is probably our strongest area and one in which we have a number of promising young players. He is not, in my opinion, good enough to be ahead of Mane, Coutinho or Firmino and when we have Milner and Lallana on the bench (at least of present) then why do we need to force the younger players further down the pecking order by bringing someone else in?

Wijnaldum is a central midfield player; some of you clearly has not a clue about the player and are just moaning for the sake of it.
For what it is worth, I think he is not needed but to say he has "no pace" is frankly quite absurd as he has plenty of it, and to say he won't play over Coutinho, Mane or Firmino is nonsensical because he will not be playing a similar position to them.

Frankly Mr shankly you're talking out your ass or clearly only saw a few bits of him last season. did you see any of him in Holland? He was a driving force in a psv side, I wanted to sign him last season. I don't think he is necessary anymore as he is most effective in a free role either from the tip of a 3 man midfield or a number 10 role. Again though let's have a bit of class I saw someone else post which I agree with. You want to pick flaws in him fine but back it up. You over the last two days have bitched and moaned about everything under the sun to do with the player without any hint of substance so frankly Mr shankly that is just pathetic.

AG, so where will he play? He can't play ahead Couts, Firmino, Mane or even Lallana who works a lot harder than him. Neither can he play ahead of Hendo or Can as they do everything he can't as in press high, work hard and offer good passing range so again, where will he play? Bottom line is that the guy is so poor that Rafa benched him because he wouldn't press hard and work for the team, the very thing we are destroying Benteke for at least, CB is a good player while Wijnaldum is well, not. He's getting grief because he's awful, lacks bottle, plays when he feels like it and has a poor attitude. What is he going to add to our team as whatever he added to Newcastle, helped get them relegated?

Hi
I follow as much I can Red Star Belgrade and Serbian fotboll even if I live in Sweden. He is a strong and tall player and and likes to diktate the midfield. He played for the national team latest friendley and did ok he is not the fastest player but good positionel sense. He was part of the under 20 national team that beat Brazil in the world cup final 2015 and if I remember correctly he was really good and of course rest of the team as they won it. So big hopes for him hope ge gets a run in the team.

Kolo toure has 6 years on him toure is well past his best would prob do a job in Scotland. He has addressed the goalkeeper and looks like he's looking at different full back options. But getting your knickers in a twist over a player who is a direct replacement for skrtel he knows well from Germany and is prob on half the wages with more international experience is just nit picking.

Jeez why are people whinging the guy klavan has played over 100 internationals and was solid against us in Europe both legs would you rather skrtel? Toure come on? These are the reasons our defence was atrocious last year because of these types of players we need this shake up with experience and arieal ability and to rid the team of the mental instability that spread through the team last year.
So many people saying GW is a bad move I don't agree like I said before I think he will be a big hit but I guess we will have to see on that one.

Let's be fair I don't think wijnaldum is as bad as your making out Newcastle conceded 65 4th worst In the league and scored 44 which isn't a bad goal tally for a relegated club and he was involved in nearly half of their goals even being benched. So I disagree I think he would be a good signing their defence ruined them and they destroyed us remember.
