Hi ed,
Do you know if Liverpool are still keeping track of Kieran Tierney? If so can you see them making a bid and do you think he would be good enough.

I know you guys get asked questions all the time, but we really value your replies. thanks.

Liverbrd

{Ed002's Note - I don't know what you mean by "keeping track of" - they know where he is, he is in Glasgow. Lots of clubs are interested and Celtic won't want to sell.}

Hi all,
With alonso retirement, (can't understand why) just wondering if any reds would have him back for a year.

I know edd001 will say about going back😉, But for me it would a great deal, as I still think he could do a job and can you imagine if we'd of had him in our squad this season. thanks.

Liverbrd

{Ed001's Note - no point bringing him back now, but he would have been a fantastic addition for this season.}

1.) 09 Mar 2017 13:40:22
Would you rather have had Medel or Alonso for this season Ed001?

{Ed001's Note - Alonso is the best player in that position, but Medel offers more flexibility as he could have covered for injuries at the back as well. As Xabi is retiring, so would only have been one season, I would go with Medel for that reason.}

2.) 09 Mar 2017 23:24:01
Still surprised we didn't at least try to get convince him when he left Real. would have been the difference in 13/ 14.

3.) 09 Mar 2017 23:00:24
I would have taken him back as soon as Rafa got the sack. Dreadful decision to let him go regardless of the issues behind the scenes. Great player and even and a true gentleman.

Ed002 or Ed01,
Very long time reader, but don't really post? Thanks for your time and effort guys over the years. Anyhow would like to get your opinions, views on one or two things please.
Ed002, you say the owners have been throwing money at winning the title? But the summer just gone as fans we only see the club making a profit on sales, and incoming players? And I know you say there's agent fees and so on? but that happened the year before with sterling and the year before with Suarez, now I get there are fees involed but it's not like they are spending 40m and no player sales each summer.
Now as fans we can see weakness in the team from the centre halfs to the midfield needing a holding player to push Henderson on a bit, and if Adam is going to play furthest of 3 midfielders, even another modric type player looks needed to add to that, plus that's without another wide player, forward.

Now if I can see these problems and most of the fans can! Surely the management, board can at Liverpool, its like over the last few weeks teams only have to pack the middle to stop us playing! as the fullbacks are poor at hugging the line or taking the other fullback on (clyne) is very poor on delivery and commiting there fullback, and that's without mentioning how poor we are at set pieces. Also we have this problem of very slow one touch side passing at the minute without the ball going forward, now I know patenice is required but you still have to move it forward at pace because it just makes it easy for the defending team to keep there shape.

Now my final point is on giving young players and youth players game time? Now I am all for that if they are good enough, but I think a few should be sent on loan more rather than playing a few cup games, look at the situation now that we are out both cups! We won't see them kids now till next season more than likely? So to me playing week in, week out in a lower league makes sense.

This is for edd01 which brings me onto emre can, a poster made a point the other week saying he didn't rate him, and your reply was that fans have no patience now and that given time he will come good! Now I don't rate him myself and never will and can't see what he brings to the team at all? Now it's all very good and well saying have patience give it a year or two and he'll come good but it the mean time your losing your best players because there getting fed up waiting for these players to develop?

Thanks eds, would like to hear your views on my comments above, hope you don't give me grieve as I am just looking for input.
Thanks again
Peter

Liverbrd

{Ed001's Note - I never said he will develop into a great player or anything that you are implying. My point was that he is going through a bad patch and deserves support as it takes time to gain consistency. Can has plenty of good points, he is big and strong and can change a game by breaking from midfield with the ball at his feet. There is a player there that could be developed in time.
He has plenty of things he needs to work on. Notably his concentration and positioning, which look to be connected to me. His heading is atrocious. Also the timing of his runs without the ball is not there yet and he lacks the intelligence to do anything if he is there too early. Instead he just adds another static body into the mix in the front line. As soon as the ball is not delivered to his run he should be looking to drift out to one of the flanks or drop deep again, anything to give the defence something to think about rather than standing there waiting.
I am told Can works hard in training and all his weaknesses are ones that coaches can work on, so there is a lot of hope he can become a useful player for us, given time. He needs to make fhese mistakes to learn from, as you only really learn during the bad patches.

By the way, you will really need to make separate posts for each editor if you want their opinion, as only one editor deals with a post.}

1.) 29 Jan 2017 12:03:33
Great evaluation on Can, Ed. My sentiments exactly. However, patience is no longer a virtue with English football as a whole, not just with some of our own fanbase. His deliberate scapegoating recently is disgraceful, as if him being dropped or sold would suddenly make us stop making mistakes in defence or make Studge or Origi or Klavan play better.

Can has great attributes and we have seen some of what his strong points as you describe, are this season as he can definitely score goals and make assists. he was brilliant at OT nullifying Pogba and created a good chance for Wij to score. He needs to just learn and develop and put it all together cos there is a very good player in him.

There is an excellent biography called William Garbutt the grand father of Italian football. Steer clear of Diego Maradonas autobiography tho. Very disappointing.

2.) 18 Jun 2016 22:12:37
Micky Quinn who ate all the pies is a nice easy-read.

Good red Mick.

Ed001,
Great read about Moores, really enjoy the info you pass on. Ed001 maybe you should consider writing books on the things like Moores ownership.

Also things like what happened with behind the scene with Torres/ Suarez and all the other fast knowledge you have, or maybe once a month you might want to put it on the site.

Thanks
Keep up the great work.

Liverbrd

{Ed001's Note - if only I had the time to write a book I would have done so by now. I did start one a few years back, but about my family, was trying to get it written for my nan, as she was ill. Sadly she died and it got put aside as I lost my appetite for writing it. Shame because the family are.....interesting, to say the least. The amount of material I collected to write about could have filled a hundred books. I have often thought about putting it together as a blog instead, just telling the stories bit by bit that way. Maybe I should do that for the Moores stuff etc instead?}

1.) 31 May 2016 10:14:11
Go for it. So many of us on here would be intrigued to listen/ read about your knowledge of LFC. 👍.

{Ed001's Note - if I get some spare time I will do that.}

2.) 31 May 2016 10:37:59
Maybe it something you take up again in her memory ed001,as it would be a fitting tribute to your nan from you.
Would be a interesting read about your family, also don't give up on writing other books about your football stories as it would be a waste mate, even if you only write a little at a time.

{Ed001's Note - ok mate, though the problem with writing about my family is making it seem believable, as it is difficult to believe even knowing the stories are true.}

3.) 31 May 2016 11:13:11
Larry David springs to mind or John sullivan lol. Is it as crazy as the things Larry or John's father used to get upto.

4.) 31 May 2016 14:28:04
Something to consider. If your ever over here again Ed. maybe do a audience with theme or something?
Get a decent venue, maybe you could stage it with some others and have the audience throw questions at you?

Charge tickets at a decent price to cover costing and what ever is over is for the site?

Just an idea?

{Ed001's Note - not a bad idea. I know the guy who does the Liverpool Legends tours, I will see if he would be keen on the idea.}

Hi ed001,
Not being funny, but makes me laugh when you hear coutinho wants out because of CL football ( which I understand), but if he and a few other turned up at the Euro final, they would all be playing in it.

For me klopp did great in getting us to two finals in his few months, without any players he signed and also turning the players around. Just hope we sign the right players for the team now.
Thanks eds for all the work you do.

Liverbrd

{Ed001's Note - it was not just him though, so you can understand why he thinks it is probably beyond the club's reach. Especially when so many clubs are going to be spending big during the summer.}

1.) 26 May 2016 13:26:22
If the club actually shown some ambition to him he would stay, however we don't. Will sign another load of kids and hope for the best. Klopp or not we will be miles off come this time next year.

{Ed001's Note - it is nothing to do with that.}

2.) 26 May 2016 13:39:30
Everything has got really difficult in this league now. Everton with cash and pellergrini (who is a good manager)
United with endless cash and mou who like him or not will win them the league.
Top 4 from last year who have cl cash
Then Southampton, West Ham who are showing more ambition than us.
Then Chelsea who will sign quality no matter where they finish.

I actually believe it or not hate being negative and am a positive person but I'm scared so can you tell me it will be ok ed? We just swam like we've got no money : (

3.) 26 May 2016 15:12:26
Ja Kurtz - Really? No ambition? And what was getting Klopp all about? What is the Anfield expansion all about? Have you read the posts on here about how LFC has received the 3rd largest amount of prize money (£800 Million) since the inception of the EPL? Since the club is losing money, it's fair to say the money has been spent. You can argue that the money was spent foolishly (190 signings in 19 years), but to say the club has no ambition or does not want to win is ludicrous, preposterous and frankly, really idiotic.

4.) 26 May 2016 15:22:12
Ja i've looked through your posts and you havnt once been positive, hold your head up high no matter what, and don't let our boys walk alone.

Why is it all about money to you? Do you think Leicester had all the money in the world or the best manager in the world (i think he' pretty great though) Nobody can tell anyone what will happen in the future, even more so in football. What would you like, all the most expensive players, or a new owner, or a new coach?

5.) 26 May 2016 15:29:25
Man the hell up Ja Kurtz, we have every chance to compete, also the only place we should be aiming for is 1st place, last season showed that all bets are off as regards to the traditional top 4 teams who knows what is going to happen next year, but being negative before a ball has even been kicked is not helpful to anyone, Leicester have shown the way forward is to build a team, not fancy names but a real team spirit, I feel klopp can do the same.

6.) 26 May 2016 15:48:33
Kurtz is just a troll he's went fishing today and caught you lot. Ignore them then they troll each where.
I know it's a sad thing but hey they do get a kick.

Hi edd001,
If you had to say? Do you think Phil will leave in summer. Also what positions do you see us bringing in and players we will try to ship out, I understand if you'd prefer not to answer if your busy.
Thanks to you and all the edd's for your hard work anyhow.
Pete.

Liverbrd

{Ed001's Note - I can't say because it mainly depends on us qualifying for the Champions League.

Positions are the same ones I keep saying, fullbacks and left wing/forward.

Outs will be some of the kids that haven't got through. Stewart is likely to go and probably Lucas, Randall, Moreno. Also Ojo and Sturridge have uncertain futures, though Sturridge is only likely to go because of his big wages and injury history. The club are not looking to push Sturridge out, it is just they will listen to offers.}

Great video that, just shows what we have been missing?
Reminds me of Ronnie whelan!
So underrated that there work goes unnoticed, I for one will be happy if Jordan is back to peak fitness this season.

I never really post, but stick Jordan has been taking and he's not been fully fit all season is unbelievable. what makes me laugh more is all these people saying sell him and he's this an that, and also sign this player and that player, but never really having seen them play, will be the same ones slating these new players next season if they don't hit the ground running.
