Let me start by saying I want Alex Texiera at the club - that being said, our expectations are way too high at the moment - Admittedly, the depth of my knowledge is based entirely on YouTube videos, but from what I can tell, he's a GOOD/ VERY GOOD finisher, not an excellent finisher - I don't think we should expect him to come in and score 20 goals right away.

I'd be thrilled if he proves me wrong, but I'm concerned our supporters will get frustrated with him quickly because of the inflated transfer fee we're going to have to pay to bring him in - I imagine he'll have an adjustment period similiar to what we've seen with Roberto Firmino.

I think Texeira's a player that will do incredible things for Liverpool, but I don't think we'll see the best out of him right away

Here's to hoping 1st) that we bring him in (for less than £30m) and 2nd) that he proves me wrong!

Doubt 1 will happen anyway!
But 2 possibly. comparisons to firmino fairly apt however and just my opinion but hopefully we might have an easier bed in for a couple of reasons.
1) firmino came in with an injury.
2) other injuries to coutinho sturridge to a lesser extent ibe hendo and lalanna meant firmino was relied upon heavily to not only play different roles but to be our primary attacking force. Hopefully with Tex we will be able to play at least 2 of firmino coutinho and sturridge meaning any "bedding in" performance could get brushed over if other players are at it.
3) firmino obviously went into a side void of ideas and since has had to deal with a style change. Whereas teixera would come in to a side with a firm idea on what is expected and as has been seen with Ben I don't think klopp would put him in the team if he's not at.
All speculation of course but I definitely a replacement for lalanna which effectively teixera will be in my opinion and letting ibe fill in the role milner has played if he's moved on in the summer and we have a mouth watering attack!

He is a very good finisher and has already scored loads of goals, albeit not in the premiership. I really hope we do get him and personally think paying over, although not great wouldn't be so bad. I say this with the presumption Benteke would be sold in summer and i am sure while he won't fetch the silly money we paid for him he will still sell for a good sum.
I think we need to push out and get a good attacker who can score. If we do there is no reason we couldn't snatch top 4, but if we keep what we have there is no way we could imo.
I say this as we clearly can dominate possession but we score far too few and have far too little attempts on goal.

You realise Origi and Sturridge are both close to returning?

I'm absolutely gutted by the result, I'm having a hard time remembering the last time I hurt this bad, but I'm also incredibly proud of the club and it's supporters. I know it's naive, but I'm hoping Villa or West Ham can grab the full 3 - stranger thins have happened. YNWA

No way Lallana leaves this summer - I expect him to make an impact when he gets subbed in in the 65th minute of the CL Final.

That being said, I only think we'll bring in 1 or 2 additional midfielders.

I personally get excited about the potential of a Milner, Keita, Ox midfield, and I don't think it's the end of the world if Lallana starts the season in Ox's spot

Bottom line, I'm not too worried about our midfield depth, even though it looks rough for the CL Final.

I'm sick of this 'giving up' business

Rodgers put out a side that was always going to stay organised defesively and would probably have the opportunity to nick in a goal or two. based on the way we've been playing this season, why would we keep the same starting XI that took the pitch against Newcastle!?

Henderson (one of my favorite players) hasn't played well enough to keep his spot in the side

Balotelli obviously shouldn't have been in the side - until he figures out how to make dangerous runs and move the defense he'll be little more than a "plan B" option moving forward

Glen Johnson - . do I really need to say more?

Gerrard and Coutinho weren't in because of how the importance Rodgers placed on defense for the match

The only player that should have been in the side on form might be Sterling, but the lad's only 19 and has played an ungodly number of minutes. I don't understand how nobody remembers how his form dipped after being over-used in the first half of the 2012-13 season.

I think Can is class and gave a glimpse of what he has to offer

Markovic ran at the heart of Madrid's defense (something we've been severely lacking this term)

Leiva got the nod for defensive awareness

Lallana proved he could stay disciplined and also doubled as an attacking threat

Manquillo played because Glen Johnson is horrible

I think it's blatantly obvious that Rodgers had a game plan - try to make it out of the first half tied 0-0, then come out and try to steal a goal in the second half

Sorry for the rant - just sick of hearing people talk about Liverpool not trying to win the match

We've tried to replace him - Lovren has come in and taken the leadership role and has been the vocal organiser of the defense - in terms of performance he's been lacking with a few costly mistakes here and there

Give Lovren time, and I believe he'll be class
