Hi Ed's,

Just a quick one on marko grujic!

I've been watching him pretty consistently in the bundesliga this year and I must add he is of standard to start in this liverpool team. His manager at Hertha argues he's the best player they've ever had!

Is there any update on his future next season?

Cheers.

Lilchizus

{Ed002's Note - Yes, I understand he has been doing well. The club open to selling him but quoted €40M when an enquiry was made. There is a good chance that obtaining a work permit to play in England will be very difficult, and the player has said he would be open to staying in Berlin for another year.}

Of standard to start in this LFC team?
And which player would you drop to accommodate GRujic?
We already have a flexible and good variety of midfielders in Hendo, Fabinho, Keita, Ox and Gini. Grujic would basically be a Milner replacement/ 6th choice which I am pretty sure the lad does not want. If there is a team actually willing to pay what we want, then its best for all parties that Grujic moves on. The same goes for Wilson.

IB it is not a case of having midfielders ranked 1-6, he wouldn’t be 6th he would be a different dynamic to a fluid midfield 3. Each game needs to be individually analysed and the midfield can be picked.

Admittedly he still needs to prove himself but don’t write him off.

3.) 05 May 2019 19:11:17
I've watched him at Berlin, and he'd definitely be an asset to have around. IB, you say he won't wan't to come back if he's not first choice? Many players would be happy not to be first choice if there's silverware involved. Let's just hop that we have just as impressive season next time.

You'd be surprised how people drop their demands for guaranteed playing time when you've reached two Chamions League Semi Finals in two years (the only team in Europe, btw. ) and are within a pinch of winning the most competitive league in the world.

How many goals has Grujic got from CM? I think this is something we need to add to our midfield.

5.) 08 May 2019 21:32:36
Good point aggerdo.

Klopp hasn't made many blunders in the transfer market. Only karius and even he did ok bar the final. Klavan came good in the end. Matip has been very good lately. I think grujic would be a great addition, especially if lallana leaves, which looks likely.

Hi eds,

Is a de ligt move to barça almost certain now? Seen numerous posts saying it is effectively confirmed

If so it's a shame, I'd have loved to see him in Liverpool red (wishful thinking)

Lilchizus

{Ed002's Note - De Ligt wasn’t ever going to move to Liverpool.}

1.) 15 May 2019 14:16:21
I like De Ligt, think he looks a decent player. But I don't think he is by any means any better than Gomez (although he is a few years younger) - would rather we focus on his partnership with VVD and improve elsewhere.

2.) 15 May 2019 14:16:25
Apparently he's a really good guy and all the ladies adore him. you could say he's a Bird's Angel De Ligt!

Immediate apologies to anyone offended :o)

I'll get me coat!

3.) 15 May 2019 14:35:21
De Ligt can go to Barca. We don't need him at all. GOmez, VVD and Matip are pretty formidable imo and we have all seen that Fabinho is a pretty solid CB as well.
Let's get in a full back and a forward (not named Mbappe or GRiezmann) before wetting ourselves with thoughts of De Ligt and other luxury signings.

4.) 15 May 2019 16:32:06
So you don’t reckon he’s the answer to our problems then, Dod? He’s NOT de Ligt at de end of de tunnel?!?

Hold that taxi, my coat’s already on!

5.) 15 May 2019 16:45:29
I think you meant get my Coates, Zed.

6.) 15 May 2019 16:57:03
As good as Gomez is, I’d be De Ligt’d if he joined.

7.) 15 May 2019 17:16:24
De Ligt's come and me want to go home.

8.) 15 May 2019 17:29:11
Best one yet banjo! He's definitely made of de ligt stuff.

9.) 15 May 2019 17:47:04
Gomez is good but made of glass as is Matip and lovern!

10.) 15 May 2019 18:49:46
Brilliant Zeddicus, ROTM, SGR and Banjo. Good to have some chuckles after a crap day at the office.

11.) 15 May 2019 18:52:35
As halfman half biscuit said: de ligt at the end of the tunnel is de ligt of an oncoming train.

12.) 16 May 2019 07:30:32
I preferred the tabloid headline of "control alt de ligt"

Hi eds,

As of recent you suggest that we are, to an extent, going to steer clear of the transfer market this summer in terms of big buys.

With our success in the champions league - in getting to the final we pocket somewhere in the region of £80mil.

Will this change our 'activity' in the market?

tia.

{Ed002's Note - I don't know which Editor has said this. Whatever happens with the results of the next two games the plans won't change.}

1.) 12 May 2019 13:02:55
We don't need any expensive signings. A couple of smart additions to the squad will be all we need for an even better season next year!

2.) 12 May 2019 13:39:26
Whoever we sign this summer won't be a 'superstar' as most people like to call it. Our first team for next season is already set in stone for next season.

Alisson
TAA, VVD, Gomez, Robbo
Fabinho, Hendo/ Gini, Keita/ OX,
Bobby, Salah, Mane

The new signings will be players like Brandt who can play in multiple positions to strengthen squad depth without breaking the bank.
Forget big money signings coz they will not come to sit on the bench. If Man city cannot keep high profile bench players happy with all the money and trophies, we certainly can't.
Personally, I'd just take Brandt and promote Brewster to replace Sturridge and Lallana, and sign a versatile fullback to cover for Robbo and TAA. And obviously find an experienced No.2 GK to replace MIgs.

3.) 12 May 2019 14:26:53
I dunno. Every year we here the term "got left behind [in the transfer market]"

I think we will see 2 or 3 signings, and i wouldn't be surprised if there are some high profile transfers.

The mantra of most super successful teams is "build when you're strong" we could still come away empty handed this season. There is room for improvement. don't get me wrong, im ultra proud of the boys this season. But, champions league finalists, 1st or 2nd in the league. We'll have some dough and i think there will be some spending.
