Hi Ed’s I heard a rumour a few days ago linking ward to Nottingham forest. I was wondering if their interest is legit? And if it is how will the sacking of their manager today have affected that interest?

{Ed001's Note - McParland was the one trying to get a deal done, he has gone too, so I doubt there will be anything now.}

1.) 31 Dec 2017 18:53:31
Okay thank you Ed001 for the reply.

{Ed001's Note - welcome.}

27 Dec 2017 17:57:22
WOW 75 million for Van Dijk! Hopefully he’ll help our defensive problems. Just staggered at the price!

1.) 27 Dec 2017 18:04:34
Staggered is the word mate, i;m shocked the club has paid so much for a defender who really is not that great, has an Andy Carroll feel to it this one.

2.) 27 Dec 2017 18:34:33
So tell me who is better?

3.) 27 Dec 2017 18:51:41
75 Mill, 75 Mill. madness! I just hope Klopp turns him into a world beater. I didn't want Oxtail Chamberlain but he's looking a better player now, so fingers grossed for VVD.

4.) 27 Dec 2017 18:54:32
Think it looks to be a panic buy to me, no way is he worth 75mill, not sure this was the correct decision by liverpool! Got to be other CB's out there that are good, and not with an enormous price tag.

5.) 27 Dec 2017 19:06:36
FSG don’t spend enough money!
£75 million is too much to spend!
Make up your mind Liverpool supporters.
I’m delighted we’ve got the player Klopp wanted.

6.) 28 Dec 2017 06:25:03
DeanW How is this a panic buy? wasn't klopp tapping him up last season! This is anything but a panic. glad we got our the man klopp wanted and can push on.

30 Aug 2017 16:41:52
I've been led to believe that 3 players will potentially be joining in next 2 days. Lemar is due to sign, fee agreed but nothing released to press yet, Origi going on loan for season. AOC set to sign as Klopp likes his desire to join us and think he has a role to play for us. VVD will join, negotiations on going in back ground.
If these 3 sign expect Coutinho to leave. I'm all for letting Coutinho go after being able to train for Brazil and being passed fit.
The team will be a hell of a lot stronger if those 3 sign and Couts goes.

1.) 30 Aug 2017 16:53:23
Can't see that happening mate Lemar is off so it says on several sites. Looks like AOC, not sure we will get VVD either.

2.) 30 Aug 2017 17:13:30
Lemar is far from off.

Agree WYred.

06 Jan 2018 20:24:04
Firstly I want to say Ed001 I hope you’re okay : ( it’s always sad to loose somebody close. The whole lfc family on here will support you! YNWA
Secondly now Coutinho has gone do you expect us to sign a replacement sooner (next 7 days) or later (towards end of window) personally I hope we can get someone in soon to give us the extra creativity.
Thank you for all the hard work all of the Ed’s put in, it’s appreciated a lot.

{Ed001's Note - thank you mate. However it is impossible to put a time frame on a potential deal mate. I mean both VVD and Coutinho deals took 6 months longer than expected for instance.}

1.) 06 Jan 2018 20:32:02
You’re welcome Ed. Thank you for the reply, yeah that’s true, hopefully we can sign a replacement.

{Ed001's Note - we are certainly trying.}

2.) 06 Jan 2018 20:37:11
Oh dear Ed I'm so sorry I didn't know you lost someone. I hope your doing ok?

{Ed001's Note - I am ok thank you very much Barry. Cheers for your concern.}

3.) 06 Jan 2018 20:59:29
The very least I can do mate.

05 Jan 2018 10:45:44
Question for Ed001 what do you make of Solanke so far? And how much do you think he can improve in the next few years?

{Ed001's Note - he is ok, but he needs to stop trying to use the physical edge he possessed when playing for England so successfully in the summer. He had that advantage when playing against players of his age group, but it is not an advantage against full grown men. The lad has skill, a good touch and height, a bit of work on his anticipation and movement and he can be an excellent player.}

1.) 05 Jan 2018 11:33:19
Well he's at the right club fullfill his potential Ed.

2.) 05 Jan 2018 11:45:24
Thanks Ed001, I was trying to put my finger and what it was that's not clicking for him now, and looking back at the last few games, that's exactly it. I like the way Klopp is phasing him in, therefore, as he needs to get used to the man's game rather than a boys game.

A shame we went out of the League Cup so early, as playing against some physical (but not quite as skillful) lower league opposition would have done wonders for him to help him focus on brains rather than brawn in his play.

{Ed001's Note - very good point that Zed, that would have done him the world of good.}

3.) 05 Jan 2018 12:16:49
I agree with you Ed. He is 19 and as you have said before, CF is the most difficult position to play at that age and a lot of time is required to get it together. I just have this feeling that some fans are starting to get on his back like they did with Origi (who mind you, has achieved way more than Solanke has at LFC) just cos he is not scoring goals like Harry Kane did at their diff. ages. Now, we may lose Origi (who I rate totally) to Wolfsburg if Ed02 is to be believed. Is Solanke next? We cannot afford to start hounding our young players away just cos they are not fulfilling their potential fast enough.

4.) 05 Jan 2018 12:31:49
Be great if he ends up being able to use both the drogba did, what a player he was, many just couldn't live with him including us lol.

5.) 05 Jan 2018 12:48:05
Totally with you Mick. I think he needs to concentrate on growing the 'brain' side of his play right now, and the extra bulk needed to be able to use brawn in the mans game will follow as he fills out over the next few years.

6.) 05 Jan 2018 13:41:09
Thanks for the reply Ed. I really hope it works out for him at Liverpool because he can become a top player.

{Ed001's Note - fingers crossed.}

26 Dec 2017 11:18:33
Hi Ed’s, I’ve been reading on social media and in the papers this morning that Naby Keita is trying to push a move through in January rather than waiting until summer, could this be the case? And would it be possible to do so? Thanks in advance.

{Ed025's Note - its up to RBL leon, they are not in the CL anymore but still second in the league but i cant see it happening until next season myself mate..

1.) 26 Dec 2017 12:30:09
Thanks Ed. Would make more sense for him to come in summer in my opinion, especially with Coutinho likely to leave then.

{Ed025's Note - i agree leon..

2.) 26 Dec 2017 13:18:17
Naby won't be coming in Jan, IMO as LFC will have to pay extra for it to happen, I think.

3.) 26 Dec 2017 14:13:07
Is he worth another say 5 million mate too get him in January personally would be a good move if I owned the club then I’d definitely push for it also but I don’t a gang of minge bags own it so he won’t be coming in Jan happy new year too everyone.

07 Dec 2017 22:07:39
For me this team is probably one qulaity CB and one quality CDM away from being serious and regular title challengers! Our attacking threat is phenomenal. A quality CB who is a leader eg De Vrij and a quality CDM like Kante (I know we won’t get him but somebody of that mould) I believe that with the other players in our team we would win the league. Karius would be my keeper over Mignolet. If Coutinho leaves then sign Lemar or Meyer. If he doesn’t then I’d maybe look at buying a young winger (I know we have ojo Kent etc. ) however I don’t think they’ll make it with us which is sad because I had high hopes for them. But if we signed someone around 21 who can step in when needed maybe grey from Leicester and we have a quality and depthy team. YNWA looking forward to this round of 16 draw, role on whoever we get.

1.) 08 Dec 2017 06:11:21
Keita is Not a CDM.

2.) 08 Dec 2017 07:06:31
Not just a CB, we need a goalkeeper other than Mignolet. That is, by far, our biggest area of weakness at the moment.

3.) 08 Dec 2017 07:48:48
He said Kante, not Keita 🙄.

4.) 08 Dec 2017 08:03:08

5.) 08 Dec 2017 08:43:01
Kante is not a CDM. Klopp needs to find his own Souness. A complete midfielder if he doesn’t want a specialist! I would consider Jorginho myself. Different genre but excellent player. We should also tie down Can to a new contract. He is going to be a special player!

6.) 08 Dec 2017 08:48:38
Did he say Keita was a DM?

To be honest, if we are going to switch to this 4-4-2 permanently, we don't need an out and our DM. That was only a requirement when we had 3 midfielders in the 4-3-3. A midfield 3 takes more communication to function so the easiest way around it is to have clearly defined roles (DM, B2B and AM) . Otherwise you end up with 3 B2B players all going at the same time leaving us exposed. A dedicated DM who never gets forward resolved that issue.

However, in a midfield 2 there isn't as much need for communication. If your partner goes, you sit. If you go, your partner sits. It takes away the ambiguity and the confusion of who should cover. So therefore Keita, Gini, Can and Henderson would all be capable. Can will leave though so we'll have Milner as the 4th choice. Klopp likes him and won't force him out. If Milner chooses to leave for more football though (which is likely as he came here to play) then it's far more likely we will sign another B2B player. Hopefully it will be someone who is still decent at contributing defensively because we can still be a bit soft at times.

Klopp does not believe in a DM though. If he changes his system to the 4-4-2 permanently, he can get away with it. It looks like he might have learnt that now. If he goes back to a 4-3-3 and still neglects to sign a DM, Klopp won't be here beyond the end of next season because we'll start conceding loads of goals again.

7.) 08 Dec 2017 09:16:22
“ However, in a midfield 2 there isn't as much need for communication. If your partner goes, you sit. If you go, your partner sits. ”

This is clearly not working MK, Hence we will buy a specialist!

8.) 08 Dec 2017 09:26:17
Who said you don’t need a DM in 4-4-2? What has a DM got to do with any kind of formation! How does his role changes in relation to formation? A holding mid is necessary regardless of any kind of formation. Protecting the back 4 means protecting the back 4 under any kind of circumstances and formations. It does not change one bit. 4-3-3 or 4-4-2, Matic remains Matic!
Atletico Madrid plays 4-4-2 and Gabi is a DM of the highest quality! How about 4-2-3-1? Mascherano, Alonso, Coquelin, Romeu, Matic and countless others.

We need to stop revolutionizing football with “ one sit other attack “ let one sit permanently and his partner attack! Simple! Why over complicating!

9.) 08 Dec 2017 10:08:59
Agreed Harry, I don’t think formation negates the need for a DM here. 442 or 433, I feel we need protection in front of the defence. The one going and one sitting and then rotating sounds great in theory but when you have players who’s natural instinct is to attack, they will leave gaps. I’d rather we get in a solid DM and keep it simple.

10.) 08 Dec 2017 13:04:24
MK - I normally agree with your posts, but think Harry is right on this one.

The way fullbacks/ wingbacks bomb on now (whether it be 3-5-2, 4-4-2 or 4-3-3), you've got to have one designated CM to will sit back and protect.

Little bit of reminiscing, and I know Mascherano/ Alonso/ Gerrard were a few years ago and not necessarily a 4-3-3 type midfield, but look how Mascherano sitting back breaking all the play up allowed Alonso to dictate play and Gerrard to push on with Torres.

Have to have someone sitting back in CM whatever the formation in my eyes.

11.) 08 Dec 2017 23:55:47
MK is correct. Klopp wants to play a double pivot in CM of two players who can both break up play, and switch defence into attack from jump. He is trying to do that with the mid's we have now but it is not working so he has tweaked it a bit. This is why Keita is coming. The perfect combo in CM pivot would be Kante-Keita BUT it ain't going to happen. Ed01 has said that this is what Klopp wants to do. You can disagree with that notion BUT Klopp does not want a traditional DM so calling for one all the time, is just tiresome and boring.

I would happily take Mahrez no more than 45mil imo.
Lanzini I think he’s a player that has the ability to make the step up to a club like lfc but he would definitely need to perform more consistently in order to be a success, if we signed him I believe Klopp would help develop him into a better player and hopefully with better players around him the consistency would come. He has time on his side too could be worth a shot if we got him for 20-27 million.

If draxler came and applied himself in the right way we could have a quality player on our books. But he needs to show desire.

I feel something racist was said then personally I feel the referee would have taken action against Firmino there and then so for me it’ll just be a few swear words in what was a heated situation. Holgate should’ve got a yellow card and that’s it.

Credit to Klopp for saying what he said. I didn’t think Everton’s penalty against us was a penalty and I don’t think ours tonight was a penalty. Both very soft penalties. Either way though I’m happy we’ve got the win and are into the next round, hopefully we can go far in this comp. would love to win it as we’re crying out for some silverware. YNWA.

I’d take Brandt. For me he’s the closest to Phill with regards to dribbling ability and where he can play. He is similar to couts in terms of pace not the quickest but has good acceleration when needed. For me he’s the one I’d go for. Imagine a midfield of Brandt Keita and Goretzka? I mean it’s possible. A man can dream.
