Hi Eds and Reds

I've just seen Gabriel Mercado linked with us again (mainstream news), is there any truth in it or just recycled rumours? Have a great day.

Jr_1977

{Ed002's Note - River Plate's Gabriel Mercado has cancelled his agreed move to Monterrey in Mexico. If Klipperty is interested in a pretty average Argentinian right back who they would need to pay well over the odds for in both transfer fee and wages in order to try and get a work permit then it makes zero sense to me. Unless Clyne or Flanagan are going to move on as he will also take up a none home grown slot in the squad. But then Klopp thought Caulker a good move?}

1.) 05 Jul 2016 13:46:29
Thanks Ed002, hopefully in that case we leave well alone. I'm hoping that Flanagan can get back to his best personally, at least to challenge LB or RB slot. Have a great day, thanks for the reply.

2.) 05 Jul 2016 14:18:17
I agree, it would be a very strange one. He's 29 and no better than what we have. Makes no sense at all.
We have Clyne, Flanagan, Gomez, Randall and even Wisdom.
If we were to sign a right-back I assume it would be an upgrade on what we have, this guy is not that.

A foreign name always appeals to the fans.

Morning, I'm hearing we've made further enquiries about Ashley Williams, Any news anyone, or is this potentially recycled news?

Jr_1977

1.) I sincerely hope it's just a recycled rumour.

2.) Hopefully not, as we would only get 2 years out of him.

Surely better prospects around for 10m which would be his cost. I would go for Sakho or Alderweiled as they are much younger.

Think a centre forward who can put more of the chances away is also needed. Demba Ba would be good for a seasons loan and would also be a good plan B for Liverpool.

3.) Lets hope not well over priced

4.) He is dire, I can only hope you've heard wrong.

5.) It's looking recycled. The fact he has'nt travelled with Swansea has been distorted into a move to the last club he was linked with. Just to clear this one up.

6.) I take it Sahid you're assuming we're still going to sell Suarez. With his goal return plus Sturridge's you want us to try for a loan for Demba Ba who currently isn't anything like a 1st team choice for Chelsea and his wages are around £80,000 a week! As yet there's no sign that the loan rumour for Moses is anything other than a rumour so why would they loan us Ba? BTW his goal return for a half a season with Chelsea was 6 goals in 22 games which is not wonderful.

7.) Sorry just not good enough for us I hope it's just a recycled rumour!

Hi Eds, hope you're all well.

Please ask me to post elsewhere if you find this irrelevant here - I have a question regarding the structure that clubs have in place to handling transfers, from start to finish, scouting upwards. I'm familiar with the structure at Liverpool and have read here of the problems it has had in the past. Are there guidelines/ rules around how clubs should set-up their transfer committee, and do you have an opinion on which clubs are operating better than most in this area? Please let me know if you've answered this previously and I'll search. Cheers, have a top day. A.

Jr_1977

{Ed002's Note - There are no guidelines and there is no need for a TRansfer committee and it varies on a club-by-club basis. This has been discussed before so perhaps searching will help. Some clubs have a Director of Football/Sports Director and their reponsibility varies. Some have a transfer committee, some don't allow anty input from the manager/coach, some allow some inut and a few let him have a free hand.}

Thanks Ed002, appreciated. I'll try searching again.

A pal of mine working in the News in Liverpool has just told me we're trying to sign two players today, both based in other countries and that's all he has so far. I can assume one is Konoplankya, any info. on who the other might be?

Jr_1977

1.) M'Vila, on loan with view to permanent

Come on Reds, 3 much-needed points and (I hope) a cracking game of football. Enjoy Derby Day folks.

If the fixtures are correct, we play City on Boxing Day (Thursday), and then Chelsea on December 28th (Saturday), harsh? {Ed002's Note - You should take this to the conspiracy page.}

Jr_1977

1.) Remind me of your next 6 fixtures?

2.) 10 Sep 2013 12:56:46
Every team in the league has a game on both of those days though, so its pretty fair. The travel for us is not even that bad considering one game is being played next door in Manchester, despite the other being held in London. Count yourself lucky you are not a Sunderland away fan as they must travel all the way to Everton, and then all the way to Cardiff in the space of 3 days. Swansea must come second with trips to London and then Birmingham. Then again, Southampton must travel all the way to Cardiff, and then all the way to Liverpool for a game against Everton! I would agree that it is slightly unfair that the teams either have 2 home games or 2 away games. The teams who have two games at home will have more recovery time, and more preparation time. Chelsea and Man City have both drawn two home games, along with Villa, Cardiff, Everton, Hull, Newcastle, Norwich, Tottenham and West Ham. Whereas Liverpool, Swansea, Sunderland, Southampton, Fulham, Crystal Palace, Arsenal, Man U, Stoke and West Brom have all drawn 2 away games. I do think it would've been fairer to arrange the fixtures so all teams played one home game, and one away game in such a busy period, but that's life. The following matches are played just 4 days later on the Tuesday, and you'll be pleased to know, the home and away teams are flipped, and we face Hull at Anfield. It all evens itself out.

3.) I think it is great we have chelsea, this is one of the fixtures where I think we will get a thumping win. One thing for sure, Notts county was more of a challenge than Chelsea will be come boxing day.

4.) We always do well when matches are close together if we beat Citeh we will beat Chelski, bring it on!

5.) Our fixture list could not be better this season with 5 of the top six teams visiting Anfield in the second half of the season, and the fortuitous timing of games in our early part of the season .

Our players are being given plenty of recuperation time between games (Saturday morning, Saturday evening, Sunday afternoon and now Monday evening after an international weekend)

I would take this fixture list every season .

I'd love a 2017 version of Didi in the team at the minute.

Have to agree with Ed001 here. Alonso was probably the most naturally talented midfielder I've ever seen at LFC. Made the game look easy, a real class act. I was gutted when he left, and as pointed out above we've never quite filled his boots.

I've seen a fair bit of this online today, I hope it's true especially if we are to lose Lucas at some point. Medel is excellent at what he does.

ED001, what was your opinion of Didi? Always thought he was excellent at breaking up attack, I don't know if the mists of time are clouding my judgement here but I rarely remember seeing him give the ball away either. Agree about Alonso though, what a class act. One of the finest midfielders we've had during my lifetime anyway. Have a great day.

Jr_1977

{Ed001's Note - I loved Didi, he was fantastic at breaking up the attacks, but he was stifled a bit by being held back. He had one of the best shots in the game, but was never able to get forward enough to use it for us. He was quality though.}
