Any truth to report from french sports site, RMCSport, that Sakho has been suspended by LFC for taking fat burning pills?

Joker

1.) 23 Apr 2016 13:16:32
Well if he's in the squad today then that rumour will be quashed.

2.) 23 Apr 2016 13:21:07
Sadly it has been announced by the club and they are to make a formal statement at around 13.30gmt.

3.) 23 Apr 2016 13:29:00
Also, it is about an element in a fat burning supplement that Sakho is claiming he did not know the composition of.

4.) 23 Apr 2016 13:34:37
The player is currently not subject to any playing suspension. However, the club, in consultation with the player, has decided that while this process is followed the player will not be available for selection for matches. There will be no further comment at this time

From club website.

5.) 23 Apr 2016 13:41:39
Seems an odd one, I pray this gets dealt with quickly and he's cleared, possibly naive though. I wonder how the club and klopp would view his future if found guilty, do people think it would have an effect?

6.) 23 Apr 2016 13:42:25
Great. just when he and lovren have been immense.

7.) 23 Apr 2016 13:53:01
Something smells fishy to me, I think he's probably used the drugs for other benefits. I really can't see a professional footballer training the amount they do and all the nutritionalists, sports scientists etc they have struggling to keep off weight.

{Ed001's Note - try telling that to the likes of Shelvey and Rooney who are amongst many who struggle to keep their weught down

8.) 23 Apr 2016 13:53:10
Disappointing really, with the knowledge available to Sakho to check first.
When you think a simple cold remedy, headache pill and skin creams can contain steroids - my mind tells me a fat burning pill (if this part is true) will have traces of steroids!
Typical as others have said, we hit consistency in our games and a good centre back pairing. I guess Kolo will get some game time before he leaves.

9.) 23 Apr 2016 18:24:55
Totally unprofessional and it could end up putting a serious dent in his career. I love the bloke but if he's taken a fat stripper then he's stupid. There are so many grey areas regarding these supplements, in the army we were always told to avoid them. Most of them either don't work or if they do tend to have something dodgy in them. He should just adjust his diet and personal training.

10.) 23 Apr 2016 18:52:52
Any supplements / pills taken should always be passed off by the medical staff 1st. Very simple.

11.) 23 Apr 2016 18:53:22
Isn't it Rooney who liked the fat stripper?

12.) 23 Apr 2016 20:29:51
Was it the Kolo game time comment that generated 9 disagrees? Would you chose Skrtle over him?
If it wasn't and the disagree was to the rest of my post, we it's just plain rediculous to be honest.

13.) 23 Apr 2016 21:54:26
It's funny how things work, kolo was banned when at city for taking "diet pills" similar to what Sakho has reportedly taken and kolo now replaces him in the team for his time out.

14.) 23 Apr 2016 23:25:15
Didnt Kolo take some tablets while at City, and was given a ban.

15.) 24 Apr 2016 08:15:19
Kolo got a 6 month ban.

16.) 25 Apr 2016 08:10:47
As much as I love Sakho, if he's found guilty of taking them without knowing the ban he deserves a long punishment. If he is found guilty of taking them knowing they are banned, he should never play for us again - in sporting terms, drugs cheat is unforgivable.

17.) 25 Apr 2016 08:10:47

Anyone sniffing around Firmino? I do think he is our best player and will be one of the best in Europe and the World. Has it all. Great feet, smart head, loads of energy, loves playing. Would remind you of someone but for the fact he doesn't get his teeth into the opposition.

Joker

{Ed002's Note - Not at this time. Obviously he has improved recently but admirers he had in Germany last year when he played consistently well were not interested at the €25M they could have purchased him for (before Liverpool paid €41M rising to €50M). Interest from Manchester City went due to his cost. Inter didn't have the money to get close to buying him, and none of the other interested parties (Atletico Madrid, Shakhtar Everton and Dynamo Kiev) dropped their interest - again probably due to the money.}

1.) 12 Mar 2016 10:57:45
Well I bet those clubs will be kicking themselves now especially as if he was on the market today it would be around the 60 million mark. Shrewd investment.

2.) 12 Mar 2016 10:51:12
Silly question Ed - why couldn't we get him for €25m?

{Ed002's Note - That was his release clause and interested clubs in Germany (Bayern Munich and Wolfsburg) had no interest in him at €25M.}

3.) 12 Mar 2016 11:01:57
I wouldn't got that far.

4.) 12 Mar 2016 11:41:19
Deluded Acered!

5.) 12 Mar 2016 13:06:44
Great players cost great money. If all the German clubs passed on Firmino for 25m€, then there is a lot of clueless clubs there. He has been consistenly good for several seasons there. Some time after he was ready for liverpool i was talking to a player he played with in hoffenheim, he said Firmino was the best player he had seen, teqnically very good and the most hardworking guy in there team. Every training session he said he was doing incredible stuff and always working he's sucks off, he said no doubt he will be one of the best players in England if he can settle in there.

6.) 12 Mar 2016 14:02:09
He is a very good player and chuffed to bits for having him BUT we still overpaid for him and that is still a fact.

{Ed001's Note - I have never seen it that way, we paid what it takes and he has been worth every penny so far.}

7.) 12 Mar 2016 14:06:17
Irish rover why is that deluded David Luis left Chelsea for 50 mill! ?

8.) 12 Mar 2016 14:27:44
If he delivers the goods productively then how the hell can you say he's overpriced?

9.) 12 Mar 2016 14:59:24
At the end of the day a player is only worth what someone else is willing to pay.

Even if we did over pay at least the club went out and got the player they wanted. Also I'm not arsed because it isn't my money there spending.

10.) 12 Mar 2016 12:42:17
€50m is nearly £39m. Actual transfer fee was £21m potentially rising to £29m.

{Ed002's Note - No. The fee was €41M potentially raising to €50M.}

11.) 12 Mar 2016 13:22:16
Cheers ED002. Good news.

12.) 12 Mar 2016 16:23:44
He's delivered the goods and gets better each game. A match winner and genuinely gifted. Certainly looks a better signing that Depuy.

13.) 12 Mar 2016 16:30:44
So we paid £32 million for Firminho initially. Same price as Benteke. Let the words do the talking.

14.) 12 Mar 2016 18:18:08
I love how things have changed on this forum.

Only a month or two ago, I remember myself, and others (including Ed1) constantly defending Firmino from people slating him on here, day in and day out.

Now we're worried someone is going to snap him up for 60m.

I suppose that just comes with the territory, when you're not only in-form, but you're one of the best and most prolific attackers in the entire EPL-- which Firmino is right now. Decidedly so.

I remember quite well people slating him, and insisting Benteke should be starting over him. Thank God for Klopp.

15.) 12 Mar 2016 19:16:59
Would that fee not make him our most expensive ever (potentially)? I'd have thought the board would be singing it from the rooftops if so.

16.) 12 Mar 2016 19:46:12
He is worth EVERY euro spent! Acered is not deluded at all, he has been a fantastic signing and has shown serious quality. With a 1 more intelligent player around him the team will be so much better, he has shown his quality alongside Couthino and even Lallana has been linking up well lately. We got him for a price that they wanted from us for the sale. Same way Liverpool wanted £50m for Torres and £49m for Sterling. Firmino is a quality player and will only get better.

17.) 12 Mar 2016 23:34:09
for me firmino has always had this in him, he just needed to get uswd to the prem and how fast and physical its been for him he's our top scorer at the time of this post so that's saying something about how good he really is also for me he still has not got a 100% used to the prem, next season he will be some player for us and that's when all the clubs will come sniffing around for him, let's hope he likes liverpool fc andthe city and klopp being his manager because i don't want to lose him, and what we paid for him he will repay that back with his goals for us in the coming seasons, it might even be seen as a cheap buy if he continues to get better and keeps scoring, as I've said before in many of my posts i can't wait for the summer transfer window to see who we get in and who wants to come to us, and if we are very lucky we could get into the top 4 so champs league will be a big bonus and draw for the top players.

18.) 12 Mar 2016 22:08:04
€50million is £39million
I thought AC was the most expensive player.

19.) 13 Mar 2016 11:20:56
Transfermarkt has the fee as £30.75 million. Which is going rate for a talented goal scoring midfielder/ forward. End of the day he's not let his head drop, he's toughed it out and he's got on with it by working hard to adapt. He'll get in to double figures the way he's playing and that's a fantastic return for someone in their first season in a new league.

{Ed002's Note - The fee was in Euro and was exactly as I have said.}

20.) 13 Mar 2016 13:22:47
Wouldnt mind if we get back suarez with 20 mil + Firmino offer to barca.

21.) 13 Mar 2016 20:19:18
While the fee is obviously somewhat inflated, I agree with Ed001. We paid the price required to get him, his release clause is inconsequential. The fact is that in this season he has grown into one of our most important players, along with the most creative EPL player this year, and the fact that Bayern Munich and Wolfsburg were not interested in paying that money makes no odds to me; in a way I'm glad.

22.) 14 Mar 2016 07:47:30
could it be that originaly people where judging hi
m playing under Brendas instruction which would make any player look off the mark?

Getting closer to a Klopp team. His 6 is almost in place or on the way. The passengers in midfield are on their way out. Happy days ahead.

Joker

1.) 30 Aug 2017 15:13:07
Who are these passengers you are being disrespectful too, that are on their way out.

2.) 30 Aug 2017 15:23:39
Sahko and Markovic?

19 Aug 2017 23:43:14
Playing two out of Gini, Henderson and Can is never going to be a good idea.
Gini most effective at passing the ball to Cout or Lallana when they play.
Henderson most effective at pleasing english suporters who think he can play football from back to front when he is most effective at the opposite.
Can should be sold for as much as possible. He'll never fit into Klopps system.
I'd sell Henderson but 5 million from Brighton might not please all those who think he's some kind of world class player, who no one has ever enquired about.
Without Cout and Lallana, this is going to be a painful first half of the season unless the dopes who FSG think know something about transfers get magically replaced by the Southampton transfer committee who we really should nick so that we can buy players before they do.

PS If Henderson's first name was Jordano, he'd have been sold five years ago.

Joker

1.) 20 Aug 2017 00:23:12
Some people spew garbage.

2.) 20 Aug 2017 00:28:14
You really should stay under that rock of yours.

Pathetic.

3.) 20 Aug 2017 00:34:39
Out of our 3 CM's you'd keep Gini?! Wow.

4.) 20 Aug 2017 00:43:50
That was pathetic.

5.) 20 Aug 2017 00:51:18
Love the ironic post, Joker. It is ironic, isn't it?

6.) 20 Aug 2017 00:58:57
You once said Lallana should be sold, now without him it'll be a bad season.

I understand the hatred towards Henderson; he didn't score that much, or assist that much, but come on, how long he has been out prior these games? And we just played two games.

7.) 20 Aug 2017 01:36:21
We get it u don't like Henderson. No need for the ps, doubt many will read the whole of your comment since its very clear to see early on u haven't a clue about footballers or their jobs/ abilities.

8.) 20 Aug 2017 01:55:15
Even Heath Ledger would be proud of this.

9.) 20 Aug 2017 04:11:20
In fairness he has a point. Henderson is useless and nothing but a headless chicken! I guess fergie was right 👀🖕.

{Ed001's Note - so you haven't got a clue about football then? Oh and in what possible way was Fergie connected to this, unless he said you were a moron who should never be allowed access to the internet? I hate when we get schoolkids on here, they embarrass themselves and are too stupid to understand.}

10.) 20 Aug 2017 05:02:49
Who is this muppet?

11.) 20 Aug 2017 05:20:55
More like who are those 3 muppets?
The OP is one and then we have 2 others who agreed with him. LOL.

12.) 20 Aug 2017 08:41:45
I agree with joker. don't rate him much for the position he plays. But what I don't get is that others ie: Moreno, Klavin, Can, Wji, Migs, can be slated but not him. Is he that good really?

19 May 2016 13:31:19
Reminded me of Hatton V Mayweather. We got clocked on the chin early in the second half and folded. Game was over by the 46th minute. We are lightweight and last night showed us up as an 8th place team in a second tier cup competition getting knocked out of the park.
Think we had one shot on target in the second half.
No fighters. No men on the pitch. No McMahon, no Souness, no Hansen, no Grobelaar, no leaders. No one who would frighten anyone. We are a decent low weight team when in full flight but we had 8 or 9 glass chins on the pitch last night.
Hats off to Toure. MOTM. Why Firmino was taken off is beyond me.
Not good enough :
Lallana
Milner
Moreno
Clyne
Mignolet

And our worst player was Coutinho with Can not far behind. No midfield. Headless chickens behind them. No service to Sturridge.
Big summer ahead. A huge amount of dross to clear out otherwise we are going to be Southampton for the next few years. A nice team that will float in the 7/ 8 position with a couple of decent cup runs.

A couple of players who will eat the heads off our own ones when the chips are down would be a start. As stated elsewhere, we need to find leaders again all over the pitch. Motherf&@kers without glass chins. As good as pressing and passing are, you also need to stick the knife in when ahead and bully teams off the pot we missed out on last night. We are too nice. There was a time when we were mean and won things.

Joker

1.) 19 May 2016 19:44:41
So we get Cattermole then? can't just bring in a hard man. Need to be able to play the game too. Not even the much talked about def. mid. would do it. DM/ CM with leadership, good passing both long and short, and solid tackling. Hmmm. sounds like someone familiar. Young Stevie G? Or the light version: Hendo.

2.) 19 May 2016 21:53:33
Gerrard was never a central midfielder. Had his best season playing behind Torres.
If you think Souness is like Cattermole, fair play to you. Henderson is light, I agree. That's the problem with him. He is as anonymous on the pitch as he is in interviews. And he is still a waste of £20million. Add that to 25 for Lallana, 18 for Balotelli, 12 for Moreno, 12.5 for Clyne, 32.5 for Benteke, 20 for Markovic. jesus wept.
Please can we get another Mascherano, a Makele, an Essien, a Busquets - someone who knows how to be the boss of the ball.

Hendo out. Lallana out. Can on the bench for a while. Milner out.

3.) 19 May 2016 23:57:12
Hendo out and can on the bench. my good god.

4.) 20 May 2016 17:16:58
Your good god knows nothing about football.

Any recommendations for football websites/ blogs off the beaten track?

Joker

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what that means.}

1.) 09 May 2016 17:33:58
Apologies.

Would you recommend any football websites that are not well known or not part of the mainstream internet media?

Or any writers on football that you would recommend?

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea about such matters Joker. I have no interest in football sites and would not know what is well known and what isn't. I could hazard a guess that there will be a Third Lanark supporters club with a web site somewhere, they won't get much passing trade. Inter's Godfathers still play in the North Mariana Islands league as far as I know. Somewhere there will no doubt be a blog about them.}

2.) 09 May 2016 17:48:41
If I had to take a guess, I would imagine he means do you know of any football websites or blogs that have good content (that may be yourselves like to frequent) that aren't common knowledge.

Happy to help.

{Ed002's Note - I don't frequesnt any football websites aside from this one. Sorry.}

If we get Ceballos for less than 30mill, it will be a steal. Miles ahead of Lallana. Has the footwork and pivot work of Busquets. Just needs to sharpen his distribution. Treated badly by Zidane. Perfect project player for Klopp to bring through.

Klopp wants five players pressing when we don't have the ball in the other half.
Five players pressing at high tempo equals injuries and fatigue. That is why he is overloading in midfield. What he does at LB is separate. Sadly we have a Bayern trainer who oversaw their worst injury run ever. Klopp may be taking the opinion that injuries are inevitable under his style of play and that he needs as many options in the middle of the field which is where he places most emphasis.
He's not buying players, he is putting together a squad of workers who can do the work he wants.

If he thinks midfield will cover the wing backs, we might be in for a difficult season. Again. If you see him using three at the back in October, you will know we are in for a very difficult season as that is not the plan he is laying out at the moment. And for all Sturridge fans, Origi will be the starting lone forward as S cannot play up top on his own. Expect two up top at home games.

Bringing more players like TAA through is fine if we had more players like TAA. We don't. He's a one in generation. Devloping young players? That means losing for a couple of seasons and finishing 6th or 7th with the hope that they are going to mature into players who can move into top four or top position. In this day and age, with the attention span of supporters and worse their loading on to a game their dreams and aspirations, you'd be a brave team to take that approach. Although, Southampton do it well but with the proviso that they eventually sell their young developed talent.
We don't have the money to compete with Chelsea, ManU and City. To get players, we have to buy them before they peak, which implies greater risk. The big teams are buying the absolute best when young and the best when developed.
To win the league again, we need rubbish seasons all round from the others, a perfect season for ourselves and injuries to be at the absolute minimum.
Back in the real world, we've started slow which Liverpool have done since the 1970's which is either down to the way we play, ping passing and moving which needs time to find the rhythm, rubbish weather up north, or take your pick.
We'll see over the next month or two as he gets flak from our supporters just how good a coach, manager, human being Klopp is. I for one think he's the one for the club eventhough he's made a balls of building a defence but them be the breaks. Who knew Matip was a smooth operating narcoleptic? Who knew Migs and Karius would be long term non improvers? Or that Southampton would refuse the thought of 80 million?
It's never dull.

Joker

{Ed001's Note - TAA is not one in a generation at all, and developing young players does not mean finishing 6th or 7th. I am not even going to read the rest as that was such utter tosh.}
