Hi Ed002,
I'm a little bored in heathrow at the minute so thought I'd ask a quick question. In regards lacazette, have Liverpool shown no interest in the player whereas I saw other clubs had, Roma and arsenal for example?
Or is there another reason for the certainly this early that he will not be moving to liverpool?
I'm not yurning after him or anything, just bored and as I'm sure we all do when we're bored, our minds turn to Alexandre lacazette!

Jason

{Ed002's Note - Lacazette has attracted interest from Liverpool and many other sides. Lyon are aware of interest in both Lacazette and Fekir and are unwilling to let both leave. Lyon are particularly difficult team to negotiate with but had accepted that Lacazette would be allowed to leave in the summer and have held discussions with agents and representatives of another club about him. However, there is now a push by Lyon to reverse that position - keeping Lacazette and selling Fekir. All may change again by the summer but Lacazette will not be moving to Liverpool.}

Eds what makes you so sure we won't make a move for him price?

{Ed002's Note - No it is more than price.}

2.) 14 Feb 2015 13:41:16
Hi Ed, can you say what the other factors are?

{Ed002's Note - They are already in discussions with two agents who represent two other clubs and indeed have held discussions with one of those clubs. Liverpool are looking elsewhere and are not in a position financially to buy Lacazette. I have explained the issues the club has financially and with FFP, the investigation, the withheld prize money etc. - for reasons unknown to me you don't seem to be able to grasp any of it.}

We're going for the fantastic Danny Ings

Hi, Not a rumour, but a question for Ed02 if you have the time please.
I'm sure you are already sick of talking about konoplyanka but as far as you are aware have any other clubs (like spurs or PSG) been in talks with his club or agent in the last 48 hours?
Also you mentioned that tv are broadly correct in that we are in talks with Dnipro. Could you please elaborate a little further on that? I'm just unsure of what you mean by broadly (is there more to it that is unreported by ssn?)

Thanks for your time. I understand the need to keep things as low key on here as we can all agree we don't want another post Salah complaining session.

Jason

{Ed002's Note - There is declared interest from PSG and two other clubs from England. There is also some other interest from the Ukraine. All of these clubs have spoken with his club.

I did not say they were broadly correct in terms of Dnipro - the statement was about the player not his club - Liverpool are speaking to the club and his agent - but not the player at this time.}

Hi Ed02,
A non Liverpool related subject as I realise we have no interest in this player. But what is the likely future for konoplyanka. I read a while back his contract was running down. On wickepedia it states his current club as PSG and Dnipro. Has he signed a pre-contract with PSG?

Thanks in advance.

Jason

{Ed002's Note - Sadly your source is not that reliable. Konoplyanka has a long-term contract with Dnipro but there is interest in him from a number of clubs including Zenit, PSG, Dynamo, Benfica, Spartak Moscow and Galatasaray. He was subject to two significant offers this past summer - from Galatasaray and Zenit - both of which were been turned down. I expected to see Arsenal follow up interest and make a bid in January but that has not happened. If it looks like he will be available interest from England and Germany from Spurs, Manchester United, Schalke and Dortmund would not be a surprise.}

Just wanted to add my 2 cents from yesterday.
Positives: mane played very well and linked up well with Salah a few times too. Bobby had a decent second half after an awful first.
Negatives: where to start?!
Moreno was his usual rash self. Dived in and got nowhere near it for their second goal. Hope he never plays again for us. He is so bad.
The team lacked any cohesion and looked like a bunch of strangers playing together. First game of the season though so understandable. Watford were just as bad.
Lovren got bullied all day.
Can and wiji shouldn't play together. For me they are too similar and cause a big lack of imagination in our midfield.
Set pieces. Same old story. Set up is completely wrong. Allowing opposing players free runs at our 6 yard line. No bravery from anyone. Fitmino and matip for the first goal and wijnaldum for the 3rd.
Substitutions! Gomez on for TAA was idiotic. Sure bring him on to add height from set plays. But take off moreno. Origi was gash. Milner didn't do much other than blunt our counter attack.
The fact that a lot of these negatives are avoidable by better coaching is the worrying thing. I love Klopp but I'm not blinded to his many mistakes. He must improve massively or he has no-one else to blame for our failings but himself.
Sorry for the rant!

good post Jason .

2.) 13 Aug 2017 17:19:05
I agree Moreno was useless but to be hoenst the midfield three were all as bad as each other, no tackling, no vision not the usual pressing. I know they're all capable of Jt so assuming it's just the one game. TAA substitute was a random one and instead of origi solanke should have been brought on ANYBODY who knows Liverpool FC know we can't rest on a 1 goal lead, as much as I think origi gets hard time solanke is always going to be the more likely to score. But it just seemed like we as a team weren't up for it, wayward passing pressing less effective it was farcical at times.

Hi Ed002.

As it is a slowish week on here. I was wondering if you could give us a breakdown of what the whole allardyce story really is and how you see it panning out over the next few weeks in regards to other managers, players and agents. I know you've told us before how transfers (legally) happen. How do these dodgy ones come about and do the players usually know when it happens? All very interesting stuff.

Thanks for any insight!

Jason

{Ed002's Note - I gave an update earlier and I have given some assurances that I wont name some names that may or may not get mentioned in the coming days. The sport in the UK is not really any worde than elsewhere and is really much better than many countries. Some little things sneak through and there are gambling issues of old that have been dealt with through the rules of gambling - a throw in within 10 seconds of the start made a lot of players money back in the day - harmless but not an option. Never prosecuted but one club abused it. Whilst it is quiet right now I can let on that something truly awesome will be happening on this site over the next couple of months - so keep checking in.}

Ed002, i believe every year (or atleast since i started following the site back when it was just football-rumours, truly awesome things happen on this site, coming from you and Ed001.

Anyway will be checking in for that!

{Ed002's Note - Give me a few weeks - I am travelling thru the coming months but some neat things are going to happen.}

3.) 28 Sep 2016 10:11:29

Hey folks,
A post for Ed002. I'm a big fan and really like that you play devils advocate to a certain extent on here. I've seen a few replies where you've suggested that Liverpool have priced a player out of a move (suso, assaidi before we lowered our valuation). This in contrast to saying a team such as Porto are unwilling to meet our valuation.
For example if we don't bid enough for Moreno or lovren you'll suggest Liverpool knew what they had to do to get the player, rather than suggesting their club priced them out of a move.
I just find it unbalanced and perhaps you know this and it's a case of a little teasing on your part?

Jason

{Ed002's Note - It depends whether the club want to sell or not. If they don't want to sell then they are in the best position to bargain. If a player wishes to leave or the club wish to sell - as in Suso and Assaidi - then the club should value the players sensibly.}

Hi,
Quick question for the eds if you have time.
I just wander what, if any, the benefits may be to a parent club loaning a player to another team with the option to buy?

As I see it, if the player plays well, his fee cannot increase as a fee will likely be pre determined. On the other hand if the player does not play much or plays poorly, his value will decrease, the loaning team can then decline to buy the player or try to negotiate a lower fee.

It seems to happen us on a regular basis. The most obvious example was Aquillani on a couple of occasions and possibly Reina. I assume this will happen with Aspas.

If anyone has any contacts within the club please tell them to stop buying high and selling low.lol

I see people keep talking up how much they'd love us to sign shaqiri. I admittedly have only seen him play in half a dozen games since his move to Bayern but I don't see him as the quality we need.
He seems very inconsistent throughout a game and certainly would not be classes as a wide player as he loves to have a free role, drifting across into the middle more often than not.
When he plays well he has quality but for me, with someone as consistent as Luis leaving, we need 2 quality, consistent replacements. Obviously Sanchez would be one if attainable (I'd like Pedro too- not as good as Sanchez but he is very clinical at finishing, makes very clever ribs behind a defense, has electric pace and is good with both feet) but I really struggle to see other available players who make the grade. Perhaps firmino, volland, draxler, lacazette, but in all honesty I don't know much about them and worry they may be flavones of the summer, a la matias Suarez a few seasons ago.
What do you guys think?

Forgive me if I'm wrong but our last 6 games have included a draw with United, draw with Newcastle, draw with Spartak, draw with Seville, win to Leicester, loss to Leicester in the cup, think a draw with Burnley and a loss to man city.
Very few clean sheets in there and terrible form.

Jason

{Ed001's Note - I was referring to last season, as he was talking about how our form had lasted longer than this season. Apologies I should have pointed that out.}

Lol at ed0002. For years he claims how Lyon give 2 different prices and never calls them unprofessional. Maybe put it like you would if Liverpool were the buying team- Barcelona knew the price. if they wanted the player then match the price they were given. So funny the double standard you use sometimes.

I respect you and usually like your comments although I have noticed that when Liverpool try buy a player for cheaper you say how Liverpool need to match the asking price, yet when we're the selling club and another team offers less than we want then that's because we have overpriced the player. It's weird out targets never get overpriced according to you.

Jason

{Ed002's Note - There is no double standard here I am afraid. It is nothing to do with Lyon, who are difficult but certainly not unprofessional. Liverpool have spent the last 6 months being entirely unprofessional and now are looking stupid as well. Klopp got none of the targets he wanted for this season - not one. Perhaps thes lesson will be learned that trying to cheat doesn't always work out?

These attempts to deflect are very, very embarrassing.}

Funny thing about this is, is that I bet a few years ago Ed oo1 and others were saying the same about Davis Luiz and Koscielny. Give us a break with the "I know best" BS please. VD is clearly a very good footballer and would walk on to our team.

If you see wiji and can in midfield together you can basically guarantee we won't create much. Wiji is physically very good and decent movement but on the ball seems to play it overly safe and as a result he passes it backwards from promising positions way too often. Can just loses the ball too often with wayward passes. Great to see Hendo back and combative as usual. Love seeing him get stuck in to Pogba.
