Hi Ed. Just curious has any clubs shown an interest in Sturridge recently. His performances the last 18 months have been world class. Top top player!

Thank you!

{Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware.}

Hi Ed. Do any clubs hold an interest in Shaktar player Douglas Costa? He has really caught the eye tonight. Ferguson once described him as the best player in South America. I think he is someone Liverpool may look to. {Ed002's Note - Manchester United, Chelsea, Rubin Kazan, Napoli, Arsenal, Manchester City and no doubt many others have been interested in Douglas Costa in the past 18 months. He was being hawked around Italy and and Portugal by Cesar Bottega a year ago and Napoli expressed an interest. There were some talks but no offer was made. Shaktar's approach to valuing players is not dissimilar to Porto's approach.}

Best transfer window I have seen from LFC in my lifetime. I'm 21 btw! The only one that comes close for me is 2007 when Torres and maschersno was brought in. In addition benayoun and Babel were also signed.

Sold players that weren't going to play regularly. Recouped more then probably spent! FSG deserve a pat on the back!

I have to agree. Especially on our outgoing moves. In years gone by moving on our unwanted players has been very difficult and often we have had to take embarrassingly large hits on the fees or even release them for free.

I'm also very happy with our incomings as weak areas have been addressed too (GK, CB, Winger) .

Well done Klopp and team.

2.) 19 Aug 2016 10:06:55
Not a bad window

Personally feel like we could have done without wijnaldum though.

3.) 19 Aug 2016 10:19:47
Hopefully there's more outgoings. We still have a fair few who are no longer getting or will get game time. Still a long to go before we can judge the players who have just arrived but overall i'm delighted with the business we have done.

4.) 19 Aug 2016 10:27:49
Im am generally happy, but can't help thinking the £25m spent on Wijnaldum, would have been better spent on Hector, who in my opinion is way ahead of Chilwell.

5.) 19 Aug 2016 12:00:00
Are we still slating Wijnaldum? Not our best player Sunday but had an assist and did a fair bit of tidy work. I thought and still think it was a good move. giant upgrade on Joe allen with the versatility to play three or four positions for us. I too would have been pleased to see a left back but I believe in the wiz.

6.) 19 Aug 2016 12:35:58
Amerigo

I don't see anyone slating wijnaldum, just people questioning if he was really needed when there's other obvious areas of the team which we need to improve.

7.) 19 Aug 2016 12:56:24
@Lavers, Wijnaldum and and left back are completly unrelated.

8.) 19 Aug 2016 14:05:52
I think people just saying we could have spent the money in other areas.

9.) 19 Aug 2016 14:14:02
It seems Klopp has him marked Wijnaldum for playing on the left of the CM (whether in a midfield 2 or 3). He has played him there in every game pre-season. I like what I've seen so far. As Amerigo said, he has done some tidy work there.

Based on pre-season and the Arsenal game, his role is to play as a box-to-box midfielder - but not quite so 'gung-ho' as a Gerrard type. He has a range of duties. Helping to protect the defence; offer them a passing option/ outlet; picking up the ball from the defence and linking the play through midfield to attack; controlling the midfield; spotting a pass/ through ball/ counter-attack opportunity; getting forward with runs from deep into the box; offering support in attacking transitions. Think the kind of role that Rakitic plays for Barcelona (what a player btw) .

He seems very strong technically, like Allen - but he's more dynamic and direct with his running and passing. He's stronger and faster too. Klopp must rate him highly to give him such an important role - which demands great game intelligence, fitness, work-rate and technical ability. He looks to have a great engine. Seems very fit.

It will take him time to adapt, but he gave a good account of himself. He worked hard to close the opposition when we were without the ball too.

Quietly impressive on his debut. Looking forward to seeing more of him. He could prove to be a great signing. :)

10.) 19 Aug 2016 19:36:57
sebrusbass nice one cheers.

11.) 19 Aug 2016 22:39:35
Agreed, a left back would've been the icing on the cake.

12.) 20 Aug 2016 00:51:07
KloppDaKop - You're welcome.

Can't believe I'm saying this but I'm finding it hard to comprehend why LFC are buying zielinksi when Joe Allen is already there. He has been immense the last 6 months.

JC_10

1.) 15 Jun 2016 02:37:34
He hasn't been as good as people are making it out to be. Its just his performances before were really poor that any sudden minimal improvement is picked up on.

{Ed001's Note - I am still laughing at someone calling a headless chicken offering nothing 'immense'. He was awful but people were getting all excited because he had a beard like Pirlo. Mind he did perform like Pirlo in the defensive areas, ie went missing.}

2.) 15 Jun 2016 05:51:28
Tbh he does have an impressive beard Ed.

3.) 15 Jun 2016 06:11:05
From my very basic impression of Z, he offers more than Allen does right now and at 22 he has time to improve. Klopp also likes to work with players in advance of them replacing a more senior player - I expect if he's brought in its with the intention of him replacing Coutinho or Lallana over the next 2 seasons.

4.) 15 Jun 2016 06:46:00
I've said it before, but despite the pickup in form, Allen still isn't physical or disciplined enough to be a defensive midfielder, but neither is he creative enough (or a decent enough finisher) to be playing attacking mid.

He is obviously a decent footballer and capable of controlling possession with metronome passing, with the occasional blinder thrown in, but is this enough for Liverpool? Can we not find someone capable of controlling the game but also more capable in either defensive or attacking duties? His strengths are also not conducive to the style of play Klopp likes, which is typically a 4-2-3-1 and quick transitions into attack while the opposition is disorganised.

Zielinski may not be at Allens level yet but from the admittedly limited amount I've seen of him, I suspect Klopp wants him to perform Allens role but also add a more attacking edge to that midfield role. I suspect a 4-3-3 and Can, Hendo and Zielinski might provide a good balance of Defence, box to box and attacking flair behind a front 3. It may also allow Klopp to rest Firmino Occasionally and put Zielinski in at no.10 in a 4-2-3-1.

5.) 15 Jun 2016 07:37:37
Pirlo is the most overrated players I have seen ed.

6.) 15 Jun 2016 08:11:35
Very harsh ed001.

{Ed001's Note - not really. He didn't create, he didn't score and he certainly did not stop the opposition from creating and scoring. All he did was keep the ball moving and run around a lot. Lower league stuff. That is where he belongs. Lower leagues. He is not good enough for the Prem.}

7.) 15 Jun 2016 02:59:20
Need someone who can receive ball with his back to opposing team, turn and pass it to attacking third in an instant, Can, hendo not doing that. JA been doing it in fits but more to get out of defense.

8.) 15 Jun 2016 11:02:03
With all due respect eds 1 and fellow posters but are we not meant to support all the players of lfc only a while back edd 1 and 2 were telling us off for saying players not good enough.
Big love to eds tho xx.

Going by all reliable journos our interest is in:
GK: Karius
CB: Matip
LB: Chillwell
CM: Grujic
CM: Dahoud
LW AM: Gotze or Mane

The midfield is really stacked and needs addressed especially as no European football next season. Off the front there also is firmino, Coutinho, Gotze/ Mane, Lallana in addition to ojo and ibe.

1.) 28 May 2016 09:31:24
Karius, Matip and Grujic have already signed mate.

2.) 28 May 2016 10:56:24
There's talk about Ibe leaving.

3.) 28 May 2016 13:26:43
Your powers of premonition are amazing JC.
You might try RTPs if you want to improve your list.

4.) 29 May 2016 11:08:28
Haha two people have disagreed, its easily verifiable you know, googles your best bet. Although matip has signed a pre agreement which is as good as signing.

I hope to see a good lb and coric would be ideal. We will not be signing any superstars, its not klopps mo.

But one thing i don't want to see is another southampton player. If man u or who ever else is supposedly interested i say let them have mane.

26 May 2016 11:04:31
Bayern really are trying to push gotze out! I think horse has been advised to stay an extra year and then leave on a free with a big signing on fee.

JC_10

1.) 26 May 2016 14:39:54
Horse? Which horse?

2.) 26 May 2016 16:22:51
That's Götze's nickname.

10 Jun 2015 18:17:21
I really don't see this attraction towards Kovacic. I think a lot of the people on here haven't actually seen him play. He has potential but isn't great technicality. He is very much a midfield Markovic. Furthermore I have seen some people putting him down as a holding midfielder. Kovacic couldn't play in a two man midfield never mind DM! I think LFC should look elsewhere.

Possibly away from Italy. Gundungan would be a decent option but I'd rather keep Lucus and invest in a forward like Remy, Walcott. Haven't seen much of Laccezette so can't comment. Aubameyang has been linked and would be decent but his touch isn't great.

JC_10

1.) 10 Jun 2015 20:08:38
Kova is not what we need because we are well-covered in the midfeild and we have according to BR, a Rolls Royce in Emre Can who is raring to go in that position so why not play him in the position we bought him for and see what he can do instead wasting money we don`t really have on a player we don`t need nor have an idea how and where we will play him.

2.) 10 Jun 2015 20:10:16
I agree with you that he isn't as great as a lot of people think. However he can and has played as a holding midfielder at both international and club level. He is more like Pirlo than Lucas thoughin terms of style. He's a deep lying playmaker rather than a midfield destroyer.

I'd rather keep Lucas as well and hopefully we do because he is a quality holding midfielder. I don't see the need for Kovacic and wouldn't sign him if I was in charge, but he is a very good young talent. God knows what Rodgers wants to do. I doubt even he does.

3.) 10 Jun 2015 20:42:58
I tend to agree - didn't see him play I admit but saw few youtube clips and I also thought of the similarity to Markovich. And like all our other midfielders (other than Henderson) he alwasy tries to dribble and play through 3-4 players with pass only the last resort. 5 goals and 4 assists in 35 league apperances, not such an amazing stats (not that many in our team this season had muchbetter statistics). We need players who can pass the ball, especially after Gerrad is gone.

4.) 10 Jun 2015 22:30:46
Given our limited funds for new recruits - I'd say there are other positions that are a higher priority; maybe next year - this year fill what we need!

5.) 10 Jun 2015 23:33:43
He's very very different to marko. Not the same player at all. Watch him and you'll see what I mean.

Yeah let's sell a great player and replace him with three decent. That's a great way to succeed! 🤔Or a great way to run a football club into the ground more like. It doesn't matter how many players you have. Only 11 go on the pitch!

I can see Liverpool trying to sign him. let's be realistic though the player is bound to realise if he is going to sign for one of the big English clubs then those wage demands are ridiculous! He will probably sign one of Liverpool, United or Spurs. I wouldn't also be surprised to see interest from Chelsea or City.

Lucus is playing well and is a very important player. There is no reason for him to leave and I'm sure he won't! I can't see him taking a step down to play for Inter. He's probably just welcoming the interest as any player would as it gives him more power!

He shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath as Modric. Kovacic is far from the finished product and really needs to improve in regards to technical side of the game. I think he is a midfield Markovic. LFC should look elsewhere probably away from Italy in my opinion.

Disagree with you completely Ed. I think he'll go far. Skilful, cocky and doesn't look intimidated on the ball! Attacks at every opportunity and always try's to be positive in possession. I think with Sherwood in charge he will get the opportunity too!

JC_10

{Ed001's Note - he will also get no coaching with Sherwood in charge. You can disagree all you like, but nothing you have said indicates a good player at all, just another kid with an attitude.}
