Good Evening Eds. Have any clubs expressed any interest in Coutinho or Markovic recently? (Read through posts and can't find anything too recent)

{Ed002's Note - Porto and Bayern Munich were both represented at the Chelsea/Liverpool game toward the end of the season and someone senior at Chelsea is of the opinion that Coutinho was the focus of their attention. But it went nowhere.

Markovic is a different matter, it has not been working out for him but there is no interest in him and, without going in to detail, there won't be interest in a player who has not been playing regularly (and looks like he won't be next season either) if Liverpool were to look to recoup any more than half of what they paid.}

1.) 13 Jul 2015 18:41:27
I like Markovich and feel he just needs more time after all he was played out of position. I would have preferred him up front to Stirling.

2.) 13 Jul 2015 19:00:45
Sounds like a tricky position, if there is zero interest now at potentially half what was paid in 12/24 months we will be basically letting him walk for nothing it seems to be something we are getting good at. there must be clubs interested in a loan he's not a bad player.

Hey Eds, Great work as always, constantly reading your posts.
A quick question for Ed002, do you think we will be able to sell Coates or do you think he will not want to leave. (I think I remember you saying he is settled and happy to play in England. correct me if wrong).

Cheers mate.

{Ed002's Note - Coates has made it clear he will return to Liverpool in the summer and if transferred wants to stay in England. Much would depend on what Liverpool would want for the player, or perhaps they could even release him from the last year of his contract?}

1.) 16 May 2015 09:22:55
I have always liked Coates but we have plenty bodies in that position and will have to be sold to raise funds for more priority positions.

Wherever he goes I'm sure he'll do well though.

2.) 16 May 2015 22:46:26
Bodies yes, but are we any nearer to a solution? I'm not convinced (espceially after the roasting they got today) any of them are 'the future'

3.) 18 May 2015 09:29:33
Coates will leave for free if he can get a club to take him on similar wages would be my guess. He's too slow to make it with us but he could be a fine defender for someone like Sunderland.

Hi eds, Just read an article on the Daily Mail about Liverpool and Manchester United owners striking a pact to be strong against 'player power' and keep Suarez and Rooney against there wishes to join other PL clubs unless a 'mega offer' (80m quoted for LS) from Europe comes. I know as well as everyone else that the Daily Mail is only useful mainly as toilet paper and regular updates on Kim Kardashian but this seems the type of thing a couple of billionaire owners wanting to make a statement would do. Is any piece of this true? {Ed002's Note - I think they might be over-playing a simple situation whereby the American owners are not used to the situation we are seeing with Suarez, and rather less so with Rooney. The Glazers are pretty much hands off of such matters, but Mr Henry has shown himself to be a little naive. As for a pact, I hear there was deer found on Interstate 8 in Texas with all of it's organs missing; three elderly men smeared in blood were seen running from the scene. They were described as one wearing a red shirt with Giggsy on the back, one in a red shirt with Suaro on the back and one in a tie-die Grateful Dead 1977 Spring Tour shirt on. HArd to say if the pact is true or not.}

1.) 11 Aug 2013 21:09:58
Ed, did two of those gentlemen look anything like Gilette and Hicks.?! {Ed002's Note - It would be cool if they did - and please register.}

2.) I definitely think something needs to be addressed on player power maybe every club should have a strong stand to this modern player attitude and childishness, maybe it's time for a new "bosman" type ruling which dictates power over the agreed contract. {Ed002's Note - In the big scheme of things most clubs control it or keep it in house. Wages have gone way beyond the curve and that is a problem - particularly to the likes of QPR, Portsmouth etc.. Behaviour is an issue with the youngsters - and clubs are standing up to it now - Chelsea sacking Hunte is a good example. Senior players are speaking out - Carragher is one. We have seen major issues in France with the International side that has not entirely gone away. It is thought by a few of the "people who are" that once we get down to a different structure we will also start to see individual sponsorship - and players who screw around (for want of a term) will not attract the necessary sponsorship. I witnessed a "well known foreign international" verbally rip in to a "well known English international" first hand. This was all to do with a story in a tabloid about the player that several English players found humorous. Attitudes are better on the continent, but are sadly dropping in some cases.}

3.) I think you've got the wrong paper for Kardashian matters. That's the SLUM or the Star.

4.) Would that verbal incident be Joe Hart and Zlatan Ibrahimovic by any chance? As they had a spat in the 3-2 game which England won. {Ed002's Note - These were players at the same club and not during a game.}

5.) Before you have a pop at the Mail try a few other comics like the Star, Mirror, Viz or the persons favourite, the Guardian. Now forgetting the press, I agree with the other intelligent poster. Clubs now need to stand up against greedy players who take the paying fans money through extortionate season ticket prices and make them stay loyal. Loyal being a word missing in Spanish! Make Swerez sit on the bench.

6.) We can`t have it both ways. On one hand we say that the owners are not that present at the club then when they get involved, we say they should be quiet. And because we are not used to seeing something happen does not necessarily make it wrong. Arsenal have disrespected Liverpool if what Henry said about telling Gazidis that we are not selling Suarez to gunners is true. Arsenal chose to bid anyway knowing that the bid(s) are NOWHERE near the evaluation. Adding the extra pound to the 40m is the height of callousness and disrespect. If henry thinks he`s been slapped in the face then as the owner, he should be allowed to voice his disapproval. Remember he did not say that Suarez will never be sold. He simply said that Arsenal should quit their childish games or pay the fee. That`s my honest take on the matter.

7.) Have to be more careful slamming the Mail now that Carragher writes for them.

Hi Eds,
Not sure if this has been asked, can't find the answer anyway.
If Liverpool get to the final against a team who qualifies for the champions league through their domestic league, does the runner up get a spot in the CL?

Great work Eds,

{Ed001's Note - no.}

I genuinely believe O'Driscoll will turn out to be the best signing of the summer.

Hi Eds, Ed002 a couple of questions for you, I regularly read the posts on the site and when people have asked about the next possible LFC manager you have on a couple of occasions asked 'How would you feel about AVB'. Is there any substance behind this remark or are you doing one over on the fantasy football dreamers of Ancelotti or Klopp.
Cheers Ed. Great work on the site!

{Ed002's Note - It is a fair question to ask.}

1.) 22 Apr 2015 19:17:02
Nauscious, really.

20 Aug 2013 12:22:48
For what it's worth I think we will get better player for the club than Willian, for less money in the next couple of weeks. Arda Turan i'm hoping.

08 Aug 2013 23:24:03
Hi Eds, sorry to bring up the Suarez saga but I just can't understand John Henry's intervention in the matter.Whilst he is the owner and obviously has control over matters why would he say to the media we are 100% not selling him? When, as you have been telling us, he will be sold. He will look toothless and really stupid if/when we sell Suarez to Arsenal or even any club at all now with his recent comments.

1.) Agree with you honestly. Definitely saying that Suarez will still be a Liverpool player come September 3rd strikes me as a particularly dumb thing to say. Unless of course he really does have no intention of selling, which I also think is a dumb course of action.

I think it would perhaps be best if Liverpool players, managers, and owners all avoided speaking to the press for a while. {Ed002's Note - I completely agree.}

2.) He has every right to sound his opinion. Suarez has put he and the club in so much trouble and Henry has kept quiet. I think this was the last straw that broke the camel`s back so he had to speak out. Top man and great owner

3.) 09 Aug 2013 08:10:44
John Henry's words were a deiberate attempt by LFC o set the record straight following LS's recent interviews, and will have been given careful consideration by the press team before he spoke to anyone. I think Ian Ayre said much the same as Henry recently but it carried less weight.

You have to put Henry's words into context. Had a bid of acceptable proportions materialised earlier in the window from Bayern or Real or similar, LS could already be playing for them. This is why LFC seemed so passive when LS was making all those nseemly comments earier in the window.

No such bids are made, LFC fail to land our intia replacement targets and the prices for attackers get ridiculously inflated. So a £40m bid might have been sufficient in June but now it would take at least half as much again.

Will we sell LS in this window? Possibly. But Henry won't want a repeat of the Torres/Caroll fiasco, that's too much financial risk, so it will take something special. January might be a better bet. Let's see.

4.) Not at all. Everyone knows the game here. We won't sell to Arsenal. That's been made clear. We will sell to a club who offer what we want (more than we got for Torres and in Cavani ballpark figure territory). FSG and Rodgers have played their hand as well as they can given the player they're dealing with.

5.) Second poster in agree but I think he was more or less saying no English club I think he'd happily sell to a foreign club just my opinion

Ed001 I don't think any of their players are good enough for the reds at the moment but at a push it has to be Lemina surely!

{Ed001's Note - he has potential, but I would take Hojbjerg from what I saw of the pair in the last few games. Much more suited to the way we play than Lemina, who could be a bit lazy at times.}
