Us and Arsenal being linked with Lemar from Monaco anything to this rumour Eds?

Hendos heel

{Ed002's Note - Arsenal has had multiple discussions with Monaco. They have had offers rejected and are a long way off agreeing the price right now.}

1.) 01 Aug 2017 11:32:43
Cheer's Ed, so I am guessing it's BS the Liverpool link 👍.

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any approach from LFC.}

2.) 01 Aug 2017 11:37:18
Decent singer, but past his best now.

3.) 01 Aug 2017 13:00:07
Perfect replacement for cou but not happening if he doesn't leave.

4.) 01 Aug 2017 12:59:50
Neither are the clubs Ed - you're going to have to come up with a new line :-)

5.) 01 Aug 2017 16:53:51
Liverpool were interested but dropped interest as they found the player to be too shy.

6.) 01 Aug 2017 18:47:48
That was Limahl.

7.) 01 Aug 2017 19:29:02
oh yeah. duh.

8.) 02 Aug 2017 06:30:46
Will we sign lemar? Right about now it's 50/ 50!

9.) 02 Aug 2017 13:44:08
It's not that easy.

10.) 03 Aug 2017 15:34:59
Its "A never ending story"!

{Ed025's Note - good stuff mate..

27 Jul 2017 13:22:32
Afternoon Eds, is sturridge now expected to stay at Liverpool? It seems to have gone very quiet over his expected departure. I certainly hope he stays and gets a good run of games under his belt 👍.

Hendos heel

{Ed001's Note - he was always expected to stay by me, as he wants to stay.}

1.) 27 Jul 2017 14:40:19
I reckon this is the season when he's back to his best, if it is god knows this side will take some stopping, the amount of chances we make he could well be top scorer.

2.) 27 Jul 2017 15:02:09
My sentiments exactly Ed001! Couldn't agree more Ruthless. On his day he is up there with the best in the league, let's just hope he stays fit because like you say with the chances we create with a fully fit sturridge on the pitch its going to equal lots of goals 👍.

3.) 27 Jul 2017 15:04:39
looked slower than ever in pre season to me. reminds me of torres and owen after their injuries, some players never get that fast twitch muscle back. hope you're right though.

{Ed001's Note - Sturridge is not all about pace, it is his touch, which is sublime, his skill and his feet are still quick enough to dance around a defender and create an opening. He just needs to stop worrying about using his pace to burst past people and concentrate on what he does best - scoring goals.}

4.) 27 Jul 2017 15:47:49
He needs to just stay in and around the box. He drops too deep for me. With Mane and Salah he shouldn't need to do this.

5.) 27 Jul 2017 15:49:20
when we do put studge through middle if Mane and co put that ball in the 6 yard box or anywhere near it 9/ 10 a fit studge will put it in the next hope for a big season for him would love for him to get back to his best.

6.) 27 Jul 2017 16:08:03
I agree Ed but his x factor was his ability to run beyond defenders and finish calmly. his off the ball movement was/ is brilliant. without that pace I think he has lost that possibility of being world class. He can still create openings but he is less effective in the way we play now that closing down and rapid counter attacks are our bread and butter.

{Ed001's Note - but we don't need him to do that, we have Salah and Mane to do it.}

7.) 27 Jul 2017 17:21:49
But do we not lose out in his chasing to win the ball back, something that Firminho does fantastically well. Not sure Sturbridge anything close to that level of defending from the front.

8.) 31 Jul 2017 14:32:57
But surely it isn't Sturridge or Firminho, it is possible to have both and Firminho's work opening up chances for Sturridge to finish?

26 Jul 2017 13:37:51
See us and Arsenal are being linked with Benzema from real Madrid any on this Eds? Seems highly unlikely to me 🙈.

Hendos heel

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any approach but if circumstances turn out as they might, then Arsenal is certainly an optiom.}

1.) 26 Jul 2017 14:20:21
Cheers Ed👍.

2.) 26 Jul 2017 15:09:03
Lacazette and Benzema for Arsenal

Wenger going to play 2 up top?

Benzema to LFC-really?

3.) 26 Jul 2017 15:58:41
Wenger's getting Benzema to replace Bellerin.

It's on the advice of Rodgers who will be taking the Arsenal hot seat in a few months 😉.

4.) 26 Jul 2017 15:47:58
Ed why does arsenal seem possible but not us? We are in ucl they in europa league. I agree with a post you replied to a while back (may have been the other ed) saying we need a proper goal scorer to finish all the chances our midfield create. Love ds and firmino. I hope they are on team sheet a lot but ds gets injured, firmino works so hard to create opportunities but when he has a chance I don't feel that he is going to bury it every time. Benzema would be amazing! And why not? Player getting on a bit but still has plenty to offer, I think we are perfect for him. Still one of the massive clubs of the world, in Europe hoping to win league. It would certainly sooth the pain of coutinio if he goes.

{Ed002's Note - Read the FIRST LINE.}

5.) 26 Jul 2017 16:35:08
Superred were not interested hence why arsenal may have a chance if they lose say Giroud which is looking likely.

6.) 26 Jul 2017 16:35:35
I believe Ed002 is alluding to the fact that we are not looking for a striker but Arsenal still are. As to why we're not, I think Ed002 would suggest a "Dear Klipperty" letter?

7.) 26 Jul 2017 17:31:18
Benzema has been woeful the past couple seasons. Serious attitude problem aswell, I'd give that a miss.

8.) 26 Jul 2017 19:43:08
Didnt Benzema say himself that LFC isn't a club he'd join¿ 🤔.

9.) 26 Jul 2017 20:36:34
Ah cool ed sorry dude. Would be amazing signing eh!

Been on here lately all doom and gloom but after thinking clearly about the situation AS IT STANDS, we have lost only one player (whom we were happy to let go) who can make the team sheet and we have signed 3 players who can make the team sheet.

Our squad is stronger and fuller and more top heavy than last year. Salah will torment defences this year I'm sure. Good window
Anything more will be gravy.

23 Jul 2017 22:13:46
Has VVD handed in a formal transfer request Eds or has he just said he doesn't want to be there anymore?

Hendos heel

{Ed002's Note - I don't know to be honest. Southampton must be aware it is coming and that there is interest in him from a couple of sides, but they won't be happy at all.}

1.) 23 Jul 2017 22:23:08
You can't blame them really! If a Liverpool player did what VVD is doing I'm sure LFC wouldn't be best pleased! But saying that I hope business can be done between us and Saints as I feel VVD is the only signing we really need to improve our Squad! Keita would have been nice but I don't think he is an essential need right now especially for the money we are trying to throw at RB for him!

2.) 23 Jul 2017 23:58:33
Mascherano did it to us and barcelona paid a fraction of what he was worth.

At least Southampton will be getting paid well over the odds for VVD.

3.) 24 Jul 2017 00:41:41
I don't think we will get him. Southampton seem adamant and if they do sell I don't think it will be to us on principle. Don't know why they're getting so funny zbout it, we are talking crazy amount of money. We won't get kieta either. If we lose coutinio I don't think I'm being hysterical by calling this window a disaster. We've lost a top midfielder already and only signed one star player and two squad fillers (although Robertson should come good, don't see him jumping in front of Milner straight away) I guess it's not bad, we were brilliant at full strength last term. I'd like to see at least one more star signing though. And then there's can. Klopp said the talks were not the worst. That sounds pretty bad to me. I know it's all talk at the moment but it's going bad to worse.

4.) 24 Jul 2017 03:39:10
Ever the pessimist. Lol. Relax doom munger.

5.) 24 Jul 2017 07:21:02
We will get VVD. Southampton are for ever selling players regardless what they say.

6.) 24 Jul 2017 08:22:29
Isn't there an element of saints bringing this situation on themselves somewhat? Didn't I read something about saints' treatment of another player causing some unrest amongst the team?

{Ed002's Note - No.}

7.) 24 Jul 2017 08:58:42
Slowdog, that was the situation where Fonte allegedly had his transfer to Man U messed around by Southampton. VVD was apparently left unsettled at his team mates treatment. This was discussed by one of th Eds a while ago. You can use the search to try find it.

8.) 24 Jul 2017 09:10:24
Ed2 I think slowdog is right. I read the same thing too that VVD was unhappy and wanted to leave after the Southampton board vs Fonte transfer debacle when he left last window.
can’t for the life of me find the article I read it on though ;_;

{Ed002's Note - I have explained the issue. It is quite frankly pitiful that you are now trying to blame Southampton for the illegal approach made by Klopp and Liverpool - absolutely pathetic.}

9.) 24 Jul 2017 09:12:32
Southampton should probably just sell him to us at this stage, it's good money and they can re-invest it quite wisely, they should never have been put in this situation by Liverpool, but that's the situation they find themselves in.

10.) 24 Jul 2017 11:23:14
Calm down ed. Its nothing of the sort. I absolutely know 100% that Liverpool were at fault in their dealings a few months ago. The situation I was referring to was vvd's earlier unrest.

11.) 24 Jul 2017 11:26:51
Sorry gilcra. I know it's a pretty gloomy post but coutinio talk really worried me coz of our selling past. Trying to be positive today. Let's whack a massive offer in for virgil! See what happens then move on if we can't force Southamptons hand. I'd rather have 60 mil than a player who doesn't want to play for you.

12.) 24 Jul 2017 11:49:59
Knowing klopp he will have alternative targets in place and in a way they come with less pressure on their shoulders. If we don't lose anyone around the first team and sign a decent cb then it'll be a good window. If we also sign a dynamic midfielder then I'd say it's been a great summer. My stomach is doing summersults thinking OUR season is less than 3 weeks away! All the talk of a new CB must have made lovren stop and think. The guy is class on his day and I reckon he will be training hard. No point buying a cb unless hrs an improvement.

13.) 24 Jul 2017 12:26:45
It looks like Can is going, we can't get into a situation like mcmanaman or Owen and let them go for nothing or on the cheap. Can has potential but not winning trophies is something players don't want. lfc should get as much for him now .
Also coutinho has his heart set on Barcelona maybe influenced by Suarez. so let him go for 90/ 100 mill. included in that maybe a fringe player.
The players to go for maybe Assensio, Carvalho, lfc have goto act quick thou .

14.) 24 Jul 2017 13:43:07
Ed02- .......................go on, post this and let's see who agrees?

{Ed002's Note - We don't respond to threats from rubbish like you. Don't come back.}

15.) 24 Jul 2017 15:38:51
So is Keita definitely off? Sorry I've been away for a few days and tried the search function but every single post for the last 6 weeks has been about Keita so that didn't help!

16.) 24 Jul 2017 16:07:47
The key word is ILLEGAL.

Not sure how any fan can condone Klopp's or Liverpool FC's actions. After releasing a statement saying he won't be pursued, I think it would be utterly embarrassing to try and tie up a deal now.

17.) 24 Jul 2017 17:31:48
Hi first time poster here. Been on the site for a while now but never posted before.

I've reads posts from fans alike on here and also the EDS going on and on about the tapping up scenarios. and in all honesty I've heard enough now. Liverpool tapped up a player whether it was knowingly or not and they got caught out. deal with it. one thing I don't agree with is some (not all of the Eds) are commenting saying this isn't a common practice in football . I'm sorry it is, it's more common than you would ever believe. This is happening in every league in all countries, and as someone who's spent 11 years in the game, and also have close friends who have played and still play at the very top this country has to offer I can tell you every single club do it. The difference is some are a lot more tactful the way they go about it.

By the way you EDS do a great job keep it up 🖒.

{Ed002's Note - I will explain again for you. What Liverpool has been doing includes really screwing with the career of a 12 year old boy, falifying records, making fraudulent submissions to the FA, leaving the kid's parents in significant debt, lying to an investigation and attempting to have his parents lie to an investigation is not common practice. Meeting a player without the knowledge of his club is not common practice. Communicating repeatedly with players of other sides after being warned twice last season, warned once this season and having a complaint lodged with the Premier League is not common practice.

These pitiful attempts and embarrassing attempts to deflect away from the manager are making the fans more and more of a laughing stock. Why you wish to humiliate everyone fourter is beyond me, but others want to move on whilst all you wish to do is illustrate yet again quite how bad the club and the manager have behaved.

If you are coming simply to troll the site and posts of others you are wasting your time. We would be grateful if you don't bother returning.}

18.) 24 Jul 2017 17:46:37
Well said ed. No reason whatsoever to defend the clubs actions. There should be a punishment technically but it looks like that won't be happening.

19.) 24 Jul 2017 18:21:33
*deleted for being ignorant and idiotic nonsense*

{Ed001's Note - you really have not a clue what you are talking about so please shut up and stop embarrassing yourself.}

20.) 24 Jul 2017 22:40:22
(Sent before I finished -. -)

I think even if we showed absolutely no interest in vvd and never illegally approached him or even thought about him, let’s take us out of the equation all together - He would still want out and if any other club approached he would probably do the same in Southampton never let him leave.

21.) 24 Jul 2017 22:36:38
Eds, I in no way at all mentioned anything to do with our illegal approach. All I said was vvd had already hinted on he was unhappy at Southampton before Klopp even thought about walking on the pier with him.

NOTHING at all to do with how we made our approach, we still did something dumb af and should never have done it.

22.) 24 Jul 2017 22:51:39
Ed002 has conveniently forgotten her teams tapping up of Ashley Cole. Every team taps up. Which is why no action was taken against Liverpool. It would open a can of worms. I read a fantastic write up from a lawyer who deals in football transfers. Tapping up is accepted because it's his club's gauge if a player is interested in a move or not. And it's all done on WhatsApp because agents always have their phone on them.

{Ed002's Note - Where have I said I have forgotten that? Do you understand about that? Who was punished? Do you know who Mr Barnett os? What does "no action agaisnt Liverpool" mean and what has it do to witn 12 or 13 years ago and Mr Barnett. You are yet again embarrassing the decent fans of Liverpool with your ignorance - again everyone will look at this and thing how little people like you understand what is going on.}

Question for ed001 and fellow reds, if klopp was to leave us in the near future who would you guys like to see as his replacement, personally I would like to see rafa back with Gerrard as his number 2.

Hendos heel

1.) 10 Nov 2017 17:41:34
Rafa would need a warm, friendly personality as no. 2 to balance out his own more reserved relationship with the players. I don't think Gerrard would provide that, not to mention he'd probably have one eye on Rafa's job.

Gerrard's doing a good job where he is with the kids, he's best off staying there another while.

2.) 10 Nov 2017 17:41:46
The Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri who looks to be an excellent manager or Massimiliano Allegri the Juventus manager.

3.) 10 Nov 2017 17:55:21
Rafa is the past and people need to let it go and let the past be the past. He is at Newcastle for a reason and is no lon ger ther manager he once was, not even close. There's a reason why the owners NEVER brought him back each time we needed a new manager.

People can have their opinions BUT He left us a decade ago and why people want him back is beyond belief, really. Foot ball has moved on and Sarri is doing a much better job than Rafa did at Napoli as he ironically, replaced him at Napoli. Sarri would be my pick, too.

4.) 10 Nov 2017 19:05:12
I like Klopp and don't won't want him to go anytime soon but when that time comes then it would have to be Sarri of Napoli without a doubt, he has them playing some beautiful football with the short passes but with a purpose and moving it quickly.

5.) 10 Nov 2017 19:52:21
Good shout with the Napoli boss, very impressed with the way they have been playing, I'm not sold on Jürgen imo he is a very nice bloke but I think he lacks tactical knowledge. Which rafa has in abundance and Stevie would learn a lot from him and would eventually fill his shoes.

6.) 10 Nov 2017 20:02:46
Only and Only. Diego Simeone.

7.) 10 Nov 2017 20:20:08
Conte.

8.) 10 Nov 2017 20:30:13
Pochettino.

9.) 10 Nov 2017 21:26:27
Paul Jewell.

10.) 10 Nov 2017 21:33:37
Only situation I could see for rafa is if he is unassigned and we fired klopp mid-season so we needed an interim. That I could see working and would. Also if we got into that situation mid-season that the romance of a reunion with rafa May in itself bring enough stability to right whatever wrong had lead to klopp, or whoever being axed.

11.) 10 Nov 2017 23:31:52
Rafa and Alonso.

Ok they don't get on so it would never happen but I think Xabi will be an excellent coach/ manager if he wants to be.

12.) 10 Nov 2017 23:48:13
Sven goran eriksson 😁😁.

13.) 11 Nov 2017 07:38:17
David Moyes for me.

14.) 11 Nov 2017 10:50:36
West Ham wanted Sarri and got Moyes! Sarri is top drawer and will likely be at Chelsea next season.

15.) 11 Nov 2017 11:26:58
Marcelino of Valencia, has them playing some great football.

16.) 11 Nov 2017 14:53:43
Would that be the same Marcelino that Klopp thumped in the EL semi final while at Villareal? Apart from that, he is a very good manager. Rafa is the past and he should stay there.

21 Aug 2017 06:52:20
Morning Eds and Reds! Regarding Coutinho's transfer request, has anyone from the club actually said yes Phillipe has had handed a TR in? I haven't seen anything to say they have even acknowledged that a transfer request has been handed in?

Hendos heel

1.) 21 Aug 2017 07:30:25
This had been covered every day, on here and in the news for the last 2 weeks.

2.) 21 Aug 2017 08:28:30
The club did say he did and it was rightly rejected. As Ed02 would say, "Done to death".

18 Aug 2017 10:05:47
Morning everyone! Question for Ed001 if I may? If Liverpool stand firm in regards to coutinho saying he won't be sold how do you think coutinho himself will react to it? do you think he will knuckle down and carry on or will he throw his toys out the pram and sulk. I would just like your personal opinion on the matter. My opinion is he would have to get on with it as its a world cup year!

Hendos heel

{Ed001's Note - I think the same as you, he will have to pick himself up and do his best or face missing out on the World Cup.}

1.) 18 Aug 2017 13:52:54
Liverpool are standing firm over Couts.

Saints are the same with VVD.

RBL are standing firm over Keita.

Barca want Couts and have surplus players to offer in part exchange.
Liverpool have surplus players, eg Sahko

Surely if these 4 clubs sat down and talked it through, each could be satisfied either by player of choice or a huge financial settlement.

10 Aug 2017 16:13:18
Ed002 you might be able to answer this one? if we do sell coutinho would Inter be in for a slice of the transfer? What I mean was there any sell on clause when we bought him from them?

Hendos heel

{Ed002's Note - I don't know but I would think probably not, certainly not one that survives now. He is too old for a Solidarity Contribution to be required.}

1.) 10 Aug 2017 17:18:40
Cheers Ed 👍.

2.) 10 Aug 2017 17:20:48
Just out curiosity what is a solidarity contribution Ed?

I'm going to have to disagree Ed as I see it if Liverpool pay the required fee then they won't lose face money talks in football and other clubs will see Liverpool are willing to stump up the maximum fee required all will be forgotten about in the end! Not that I condone our actions its just this saga has gone on far to long and it would suit both clubs if a deal can be thrashed and saints receiving the highest possible fee 👍 just my opinion.

Hendos heel

{Ed002's Note - Really, withdrawing an apology after illegally tapping up a player to the point of where he is damaged goods and then taking advantage of the situation will not be losing face?}

Excellent idea, it would stop some of these clubs like Sunderland changing mangers every 5 minutes and give players less power and mangers more of a chance to actually do their jobs.
