With Johnson on the way out, Flanagan out for a while and Manquillo not really getting a chance would Alvarado Arbeloa be an option for next season. He's got Carvajal and Danilo likely to push him out and though I might be accused of living in the past I always thought he was steady enough and could fill the right back role until one of the youngsters are ready. Also versatile to fill in at CB if necessary

Andre Wisdom, would he be our solution. Always thought of him as a solid enough player

3.) 14 May 2015 06:27:17
Andre would need to do a lot of improving for me. Not first choice at West Brom and for me is more suited to Centre Back

Mick I remember a ed saying that Tony Tony Pulis likes his back four to be over 6ft tall, the only reason Wisdom is not in the team.

Utd will not get top 4 of that I'm sure whether we do is a different question. We were crap today no doubt about it and a few players need a serious kick up the are. Sterlind, sturridge and can were absolutely awful though after 5 minutes I'd have moved can into midfield as united were running through us. We only have ourselves to blame the game was there for the taking and a more astute manager would've taken it

I am a bit tired of the 'United are so rubbish' argument. Just to clarify I despise United just like anyone else here but I never accepted, not this season and even not last that they are rubbish. United attacking and midfield (and even some of the defensive) players are made of the payers who won the league two years ago comfortably with addition of top top players like Mata and Di Maria. They hugely underperfromed last year and this season and had serious problems in the back but going forward they have been one of the best side in PL at least recently.

Personally, if I could, for argument sake only and on the basis of quality, I would have replaced allen with Carrick, Sturridge with Rooney, Sterling and Lallana and with Di Maria and Mata, Blind for Moreno, and Baloteli, Lambert, Borini plus Lovern for RVP and of course De Gea for Mingolet even though I think Ming is doing great recently.

They are not a top European side for sure and are beatable but they are a decent side and the gap between where they are now and what their real squad worth is bigger than ours. And they played very good today, expecially first half.

Sturridge scored a well taken goal and presented Lallana with really the easiest chance of the game bar the penalty. Not sure what more you'd like him to do.

Nice post fanobip. We clearly aren't rubbish. Out of the top 5 sides Chelsea, City, arsenal, united and Liverpool, we hav the best head to head record in the league this season with 10 points from them fixtures to 4 points for Liverpool. We also have the 3rd best defensive record in the league just 2 goals behind Chelsea who are masters of keeping it tight and hard to beat. We've had 7 new players to try to integrate, along with a manager who's never managed in England before unlike Rodgers. Plus 50 odd injuries first half, put all that into context and I'd say were in a good place on the up. 3 defeats in 25 games isn't too shabby for a rubbish side

Stand-united don't misinterpret my comments and don't over compliment yourself - given how much you have spent in the summer what you have (not) acheived this season and last is pretty shocking.

5.) 23 Mar 2015 00:10:15
And what have you achieved in 3 years under Rodgers?? And quarter of a BILLION spent??

6.) 22 Mar 2015 23:23:06
fanobip liverpool spent 116 million in the summer so giving what you have spent spent in the summer what you have (not) acheived this season, compared to last season also is shocking if not worse

We are at the stage that Ferguson was at with United when he had not won anything.
We have a young side with a young manager (who got tactically out thought yesterday)
We finished 7th then 2nd and we are probably going to finish 4th or 5th this year.
Small steps agreed but we are getting there and you have had the advantage of not playing more than 1 game a week for ages due to your crapness.

Lovely ed, your contempt for all things liverpool related shines through yet again. Tell me this if FFP had been around before your oligarch showed up would you still be a Chelsea fan?

Harvo

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what you are talking about - trying to be the wanker your father should have been is very unbecoming.

There is always one brain dead CS who wants to make everything about Chelsea - feel free but all you are doing is embarrassing yourself and other Liverpool supporters.}
