Hello Eds,
What with this being a reputable rumours site, and modern "journalism" seemingly consisting of nothing more that trawling twitter et al, I was wondering if you have ever noticed an instance of a rumour, obviously made up or mischievous, being started here and then picked up by mainstream media? Seems the logical extension of this site's role.

Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - About three years ago someone did do that. The problem with the UK "journalism" is that they do indeed seemingly pull information from blogs or twitter nowadays. Obviously there are still those folks who don't but the "new generation" seemingly have now real interest in sorting the good from the bad.}

1.) It may have been purely coincidential, but last year I spoke to an ex coach from Austria who told me that Liverpool had been scouting 2 Red Bull Salzburg players (Kevin Kampl and Martin Hinteregger), there was nothing online at the time. I posted what I had been told on here and the next day a site had us linked with the 2 players and Transfermarkt had that site linked as a source. It could have been a coincidence but you know what Journalists are like these days.

Red Rum

2.) I don't believe in coincidence. It isn't a surprise at all that this happens; even Sky are reporting what twitter says about non-stories now.

I'm glad they didn't pick up on the Rodgers to Liverpool rumour posted by Macca.

Macca insisted that Liverpool were still interested, even after Rodgers initially knocked us back.

If they did listen, I wouldn't have got the healthy 16-1 odds at the time.

Needless to say, I won a few bob.

Personally, I've never seen or heard a 'rumour' as accurate.

What a nice chap.

I really think you need to watch it again. Lucas was clearly ready for the pass, he saw it coming and anticipated his reception of it. He just got that bit wrong. It was a simple mistake. I'm watching it again right now. I would urge every other poster who blames Mignolet to do so too. This was not a blasted pass, it was gentle and getting slower as it approached Lucas. And Okazaki was actually at least 18 yards away at that point. The blame is entirely on Lucas, and I genuinely cannot understand why you are so vehemently defending your position, when it is so obviously wrong.

{Ed001's Note - well clearly you are blind if you can't see the problem with it. You have completely failed to understand my point. So why waste my time talking to you as you haven't clue what I have said, it obviously went right over your head because you are too busy looking to absolve Migs of any blame. You are too blind to even realise you are pointing out the biggest error he made - gently rolling it so slowly that it meant Lucas was getting closed down by the time the ball reached him. Pointless this discussion, you have missed the point repeatedly, no one is even trying to say Lucas is not to blame or that he didn't make a mistake. The point is he should never have had the ball in the bloody first place. I give up as it is such a bloody simple point yet it completely escapes you.}

I'm watching a replay now, and Ed001's assessment is far from accurate. Lucas was making starting to make a run forward- he was stationary and facing Mignolet when the pass was made. All of the other defenders, rather than making runs forward, were facing Mignolet. The nearest player to Lucas, who was prepared for the pass and makes a move towards the ball when the pass was made, was Okazaki who was c. 15 yards away. The only other Leicester player within 15 yards of the Liverpool box was Vardy, and Milner was open for a pass from Lucas and facing him. Lucas took a heavy touch while facing the ball and moving slightly towards it, then panicked. The incident was entirely his fault, and to blame Mignolet is entirely unfair. Ed001 said to watch it again; I have repeatedly and can see that his version of events in inaccurate.

{Ed001's Note - bollox. No one was set for passes, no one. Mignolet had not played a quick ball out once before that, so no one was ready, they were all looking to draw Leicester out, then run forward. Lucas took a terrible touch, correct, but Mignolet was also to blame for playing the pass. Why was he rushing when we were on top and dominating? That is completely against the instructions that Klopp has constantly banged on about controlling the game when on top.}

I was never on board with all the ire at Rodgers' press statements, until today. He has just said that the difference between Chelsea and Liverpool is that Chelsea brought in three starters, and Liverpool lost three. So, 5th place is par. Hmmm. One might think that English football had some sort of random draft system. It doesn't. Liverpool lost two to injury and sold one. Then spent £120m bringing in 8, and punting one on loan. At best, Rodgers is disengenuous.
