Hi ed I don't know if your watching the Liverpool friendly but karius has had 2 big blunders again in a friendly with no pressure whatsoever on him.
Do you still think klopp will stick with him?
He looks a keeper completely shot of confidence and belief and I think for us to compete we really do need to give ward a chance or sign a new keeper .
What's everyone else's opinions?

Emre_can_can

{Ed002's Note - You don’t think death threats, unrelenting abuse and wishes of hate adds pressure?}

1.) 10 Jul 2018 21:19:51
I say get of his back and support him.

{Ed025's Note - but how many chances do you give him tim?..

2.) 10 Jul 2018 21:22:43
If De Gea would have been a January signing and they reached the Champions League final, he could very well have made the same mistakes. He was awful when they signed him. Look how that turned out.

{Ed025's Note - clutching at straws there EP mate..

3.) 10 Jul 2018 21:26:53
Can anyone check if he still has concussion?

Joke. He hasn't got the mental capacity to be a goalkeeper at the top level. Bye Loris.

4.) 10 Jul 2018 21:27:12
He needs to be out of the spotlight and we need to bring in a starting keeper. I’m all for supporting Karius long term and sincerely hope he goes on to great things given time, but there is no way we should be starting the season with him between the sticks given where his head is at right now, he’s completely shot of confidence.

5.) 10 Jul 2018 21:28:22
It looks like Klopp has decided to stick with him.
I think it's a huge mistake, and whilst I don't have a problem criticising I have no desire whatsoever to abuse him. I haven't seen the game so in this case I can't criticise him.

6.) 10 Jul 2018 21:23:16
Of course it does ed02, and it's disgusting but the fact is he is making more mistakes. Whether it's coz of confidence, ability, personal matters he is still under performing.

I like Karius. I thought he showed bottle apologising to the fans and I will back him if he is our number one. I think there is a top keeper in there.

But if he's not performing we need to look at our options. Maybe signing another keeper.

{Ed002's Note - Dont worry, the fans will drive him out.}

7.) 10 Jul 2018 21:28:10
I'm not condoning any of that ed I'm just saying his confidence is completely gone and I don't think we can start the season with him between the sticks.
By all means keep him as backup and build his confidence up again but it would be crazy to start with him between the sticks.
If you were klopp can you honestly say you would start the season with him between the sticks?
I do feel sorry for the lad with the threats from scum but just feel none of the players can have confidence with him starting . it could be detrimental to our season.

{Ed002's Note - You need to remove the cause of the issue, the person who took him to the club and persists with him.}

8.) 10 Jul 2018 21:36:14
He came out second half and was given a standing ovation by the liverpool fans behind his goal, good size crowd. Fully backed by the fans and publicly by the manager.

I'm not sure how else your meant to get behind him. He didn't make those mistakes on the back of any pressure. The second maybe because after his mistake the wahays came out every time he caught the ball or something but really it was his positioning and action for the second. He just cocked up the first. Was at the game and was right by him.

I just think. And do not shoot me. But a little voice is telling me, maybe he's not a good gk?

If we whacked vvd upfront and said back him, would that make him a talented striker?

God put me in goal and back me, I'll become a worldy overnight.

9.) 10 Jul 2018 21:36:42
The same keeper ever1 was saying he was looking good then made mistakes got death threats fecking stupid so that's why i say get behind him,

10.) 10 Jul 2018 21:30:37
Exactly ed025. We need to get real here. He isn't the answer never has been in my opinion same for ward and mignolet. Is the death threats taking things too far? absolutely. It's disgusting and vile from scum that claim to be fans but are just what I said scum. He is clearly stripped of whatever little confidence that he had and is only going to be a hindrance and a weak link that teams and fans are going to target week in week out. A top replacement is needed for me or we need to build a wall every game for karius too keep the ball out of the net.

{Ed025's Note - i feel for the guy IR but business is business mate..

11.) 10 Jul 2018 21:31:20
I’d bring Mignolet back ahead of Karius at the minute.

12.) 10 Jul 2018 21:30:37
He is absolutely awful. What a clown.

13.) 10 Jul 2018 21:33:16
He hit his head getting off the coach. May have something to do with it?

14.) 10 Jul 2018 21:40:01
He spilt a free kick allowing the onrushing player to score
no biggie, it happens sometimes
move on and let him have a career.

15.) 10 Jul 2018 21:45:10
Did you get my reply ed? Basically just asking if you were klopp would you start the season with karius or get a new keeper?
I do support the lad . Keep him as backup and build his confidence up again.

{Ed002's Note - Klopp has already, yet again, spoken about the GKs.}

16.) 10 Jul 2018 21:50:43
I am a Liverpool supporter first and foremost and then support the players that play for us individually.
Klopp is doing a brilliant job but perhaps he has a weak point in identifying a good goalkeeper or maybe he needs someone that would tell him a player has had enough chances.
Is there any new interest in any keepers in the last few days?
I personally like ward and always have . Wouldn't mind him being given a chance.

17.) 10 Jul 2018 21:51:27
I feel sorry for the rest of the team tbh.

18.) 10 Jul 2018 21:56:26
I totally agree with people's comments about karius getting abuse and death threats also his family but I don't think klopp is doing karius any favours the guys confidence is totally shot he looks a nervous wreck and anxious witch is understandable after his recent mistakes I really do think we need to get a keeper in because in my opinion karius will cost us points.

19.) 10 Jul 2018 21:56:38
The Tranmere fans gave karius some stick can just imagine old Trafford etc! No point us givin him stick it’s klopp who picks him at the end of a day! Like ed02 says send him a few more death threats he might leave! Was only a friendly but can see some fans frustration.

20.) 10 Jul 2018 22:07:07
It’s hardly like the keepers we were scouting are any better, Cillessen and Navas are far worse by a mile.

21.) 10 Jul 2018 22:07:27
I said after the CL we should allow him to leave/ loan back to Germany to rebuild his career. There is too much pressure on him in the premier league whether reds fans back him or not, the pressure comes from other sources.

22.) 10 Jul 2018 22:13:38
Butland all of a sudden dosent seem so bad.

23.) 10 Jul 2018 22:23:31
Well said, SGRed.

I believe we will sign a GK who will our new no.1. Now whether It'll be Alisson, Butland or someone else, for that we have to wait!

24.) 10 Jul 2018 22:29:51
I do feel for the guy but like Ed25 said business is business and we should bring in a new keeper or push to sign one. Again these players might not be attainable but money talks and personally I would overspend on someone like Oblak/ Allison or of that quality, with there being a number of top keepers across Europe not just those two.

25.) 10 Jul 2018 22:30:08
Just saw another video of Karius spilling the ball during practice. I think he lacks the fundamental goalkeeping skill of putting his body behind the ball. He's not letting his upper body help him when catching.
I think he needs to be allowed to go on loan or he should be sold. The problem is not just that fans of other clubs would try to rile him up. It's the fact that Liverpool fans would absolutely crucify him when he makes a mistake - whether it leads to a goal or not.

26.) 10 Jul 2018 23:23:22
Edison. m. city
Loris. spurs.
De. gea. m. united.
Courteous. Chelsea.

Karius. Liverpool.

Need I say anymore we pay 75m for a centre back and we have a keeper behind him who can't even hold on to a ball klopp defended him gain tonight saying it hit his chest sorry not good enough.

27.) 11 Jul 2018 03:08:48
Look, it's hard in goal. Every action is scrutinised. If salah made 5 mistakes would you sell him?

If Robertson made 4 mistakes would you say sell him?

BTW, those players mentioned have made way more mistakes than the 9 I mentioned. Ease off the lad. He's jittery and needs our support. He was playing pretty well last season, getting better and better. I think we need someone, keep Karius as 2nd keeper, build his confidence, play him in league Cup. He is still young. There is a good keeper in there.

{Ed0333's Note - have you taken the week off work to post on the site Hendo?

28.) 10 Jul 2018 22:08:18
Ed025. I feel for him too. He isn't purposely making mistakes and I'm sure he is a good lad deep down. He just isn't good enough and like any walk of life if your not good enough you need to be replaced. I can just see this becoming a big problem as the season goes on. Need to act now before any more damage is done. Ps hoping Everton have a good season too mate. Just not better than ours but who knows with karius in between the sticks.

{Ed025's Note - you cant have sentiment in football IR, look at pep who ditched 3 keepers within 12 months (hart being england No1 at the time)because they were just not good enough, if you want to win things then the manager has to be ruthless at times mate, im a massive klopp fan but he needs to sort this out asap because its a key position..

29.) 11 Jul 2018 14:00:07
The problem in all of this is the goalkeeping coach in my opinion. Klopp and his staff have came in and things have improved outfield. Achterberg was kept on and the goalkeeping situation has not.

Hey eds is it true a player had a medical at melwood and is being announced soon? Grahem Kelly reporting this. Do ye have any info?

Emre_can_can

{Ed002's Note - Ask Grahem Kelly whoever he is.}

1.) 04 Jul 2018 21:37:11
Kovacic 🤫.

2.) 04 Jul 2018 21:49:57
He's usually fairly accurate, don't know if it's good news.

3.) 04 Jul 2018 22:02:10
I wonder who's having a medical at melwood tomorrow?

4.) 04 Jul 2018 22:08:14
It's from twitter and its in relation to somebody mentioning seeing Donnarumma getting into a black Vito on a page called Liverpools Black Vito or something like that. Somebody then mentions Matt Ryan and another mentions Shaqiri.

I'm not on twitter and I barely understand how its used but from looking at what I've seen on the page it looks blag and a bit of a piss take page to me. Having said that if there was to be a signing announced tomorrow I would go with Cillessen as per Maccas info.

5.) 04 Jul 2018 22:21:57
It'll be shaquri. Just read an interview where he says "you will find out my new club soon" my new club. Sounds like he knows where he's going. God I hope not although I will change my tune once he does the lean. I will spend next season justifying the signing to Chelsea fans and utd fans.

6.) 04 Jul 2018 22:25:26
If Shaquiri signs it's up to him to justify it, nobody else. He'd be the one lacing up the boots after all.

7.) 04 Jul 2018 23:06:19
Great, another player who's name people can't spell correctly.

8.) 04 Jul 2018 23:19:22
You pay an extra 5mil if their name is hard to spell dexter!

9.) 05 Jul 2018 03:26:42
I take it back, I think it's celleson they're going to announce.

10.) 05 Jul 2018 05:33:29
It's Barcelona keeper.

Hi eds and fellow posters. Ed I'm particularly interested in your opinion on keita. Granted I have not seen him much but I'm just watching rb v Marseille and my god does keita look extremely lazy. He looks like a midfield balotelli to me. No tracking back and anytime he makes a forward run he takes an age to get back.
I know it is a knee jerk reaction to seeing him but I would have thought surely a player rated as highly as him would at least put effort in.
Is it just a case of his attitude problems ye have mentioned on occasions.

Emre_can_can

{Ed001's Note - I have not watched him for a while but he was very energetic when I saw him, so I do not know sorry.}

1.) 05 Apr 2018 22:10:41
I think the lads got issues been there, he has wanted out for ages, it'll affect his game, it shouldn't but it has done, with the likes of Klopp, Salah, Firmino, Hendo, Mane etc I hope they can sort his head out a bit and he can crack on and I think he will. Personally I'd of liked him to keep going at RBL without any BS, but he's been a little daft since we signed him up, young and dumb comes to mind but let's see how he is when he comes here, I think he'll be fine.

{Ed002's Note - The club asked permission to talk to him with the hope of trying to sort out he issues and RBL refused. Liverpool are well aware of the issues on and off field, the significant fine and court case, and the questions about his paperwork.}

2.) 05 Apr 2018 22:12:41
That’s the system they play as a team. They were a terrific counter attacking team last season. Did you not notice how effortlessly he glide past players through the middle tonight. That’s his biggest strength and one Klopp is looking from him. There is no shortage of stamina in him as he is the only ball playing CM in their team.
He is different from what we have and exactly why we are buying him! Excellent carrier of the ball he is.

3.) 05 Apr 2018 22:15:41
And you can tell all this from watching a player once?
Should we disregard the rave reviews he has has this whole season from pundits and managers alike?
I would ask you to watch the whole Bayern match he recently starred in, if im not mistaken he was man of the match in that game as well
just seems a little harsh to me to label someone a Balotelli after watching them in one game mate.

4.) 05 Apr 2018 23:22:20
J Junior, I have made it a point this season to watch Keita this season in the German league and tho, he had mass issues on the pitch with cards ( and still has stuff off the pitch), the guy is a true beast. Seems to have calmed down a bit on the disciplinary side BUT h=can still get wound up. I did watch the RBL v Bayern game and like you said, he was simply amazing.

RBL pressed Bayern the same way we pressed City and Bayern could not deal with it. Even Matze Hummels admitted that the press completely killed Bayern and for the full 90, they were all at sea. Those labeling Keita a Balotelli after one game, is just a lazy and shallow way to judge a player.

emre do you really see klopp buying 'lazy' players? not really his style is it. I'm sure they have done their homework - certainly on the playing side anyway.

7.) 06 Apr 2018 11:30:42
As I said in my post it was only one game I was watching and it's not me forming that opinion on him as a overall player. It just surprised me watching him. Fair enough if a player is having a bad game they all do but you would still expect to see effort. I didn't see any effort from him last night that's all I was making a point about as I cannot get the time to watch too many rbl games to see him.
He did look a brilliant player on the occasions he received the ball and drove through the midfield it was just his off the ball attitude I seen .

Ah no ed you lost me at Maguire 😂😂😂. He's a awful old lump at the back and from what I have seen of him has very poor distribution and lack awareness of runs in behind him. As you say only opinions . My choice would be Gary Cahill. I know there is not much chance but think he would be a very reliable performer for us and give a very solid vocal cb pairing . I know a lot will disagree due to his age but I have always rated him.

Emre_can_can

{Ed025's Note - his distribution is his strong suit emre, very comfortable on the ball and can turn defence into attack in an instant, i think hes the next alan hansen who i was a massive fan of mate..

I have to disagree . I think a top drawer keeper is more vital than a creative mid . Henderson can be pushed forward more as he was under Rodgers and be very effective. Plus we have ox to come back and lallana . I just see a keeper as far more important.
Look at de gea for United. How offer does he carry them.
