WoW. just WOW

Not to quote a song from highschool musical but,

"This could be the start of something new
It feels so right to be here with you, oh
And now, looking in your eyes
I feel in my heart the start of something new"

My exact feelings right now. Yes I am beyond the moon we are in a final but what makes me even more excited is that this really could be the start of Liverpool being consistently back in the top tier of European football again. We are a young team, with a coach that did not try to buy 10 players for absurd money all at once to create a quick fix, but slowly built a team over time by getting the players he wanted and nothing less. Yes we should enjoy this time but what I hope to enjoy more is remembering this as the start of a truly great era of Liverpool football.

P. S: If we win (which I do think we have a great chance) what is the over under on the amount of movies/ documentaries called Alezz Alezz Alezz.

I cannot believe I just read a high school musical quote on this site 😂😂

You got to get your head in the game. We're soaring. We're flying. There's not a star in heaven that we can't reach. I wanna play ball now, and that's all, this is what I do.

You need to stay focused on what matters mate 👀.

2.) 03 May 2018 16:27:07
That’s made me feel a bit sick.

3.) 03 May 2018 16:55:11
Highschool musical? Is this on the school ciriculum now? Do they sing it in assembly? Im lost!

4.) 03 May 2018 17:16:51
You ain't heard nothing until you've heard the cabaret performance of the Lords Prayer in a school assembly, Rover ;-) :D.

5.) 03 May 2018 20:07:36
I dare you to go and quote high school musical to describe your feelings of Liverpool (I can't believe I've just written that) in a non anonymous setting. I love the internet. It throws up all kinds of loons.

You may take offence, but I mean none, that just tickled me is all.

Wow, just wow. I really did forget what this feels like. Can't sleep the night before, waking up with a giant smile on my face knowing that today is special. For the first time in a long time Liverpool are back in the heat of a champions league campaign. The feeling of pure anxiety and suspense of how we will play today, of whether or not this team will continue to write themselves into the storied history of this club. Win or lose I must say that O have I missed this feeling. How I have missed the anticipation on a day like today. O how I have missed this feeling in my stomach that is not fear or pain but excitement. When people ask me why I am so in love with this sport and club, it is because of days like today.

NOW COME ON YOU RED MEN
TIME TO SHUT UP ALL THE HATERS AND DOUBTERS

Super bored at work so thought I would see if the Ed's or any readers wanted to answer any of the following.

1) since taking over how do you think Peter Moore has done? Whether that is commercially, how he has done in transfer dealings, or anything else.

2) There seems to be a good amount of Klopp to Bayern rumours starting. Do you think this is purely just lazy journalism, where Bayern need a new coach and Klopp is the logical choice in a perfect world. Or do you think there is a legitimate chance that Bayern will make a serious attempt to pry him away?

3) I read a funny post somewhere yesterday. Pep coached in Spain, Spain won the world cup. Pep coached in Germany, Germany won the world cup. Pep is coaching in England, England to win the world cup? . my question is what do you think is more probable, England winning the world cup or Liverpool winning the Champions league this season?

4) How do you think Gerrard has done so far in management. Purely looking at the results he seems to be doing a fine job. However at that age results are far less important than development. How do you think Stevie has done with improving his players and creating opportunities for then to learn.

Thanks for reading and replying if you do. anything to make the day go faster right.

1.) 29 Mar 2018 16:54:38
Peter moore probably needs more time to be judged.

Lazy journalism I feel plus I would hope Klopp feels he is buidling somehting with us. If he wants the Bayern job think there may be other oppurtunities to go there in the future.

Liverpool more likely 1 in 8 chance vs England 1 in 32 ;)
In all seriousness at Barcelona the team had a good majority of the spanish team and the same for Bayern and Germany. Unfortunately there are few English players at City so doubt that trend or his impact will be felt.

As for Gerrard results don't matter at that age as such the main thing is developing players which will take a while to judge.

2.) 29 Mar 2018 18:42:53
1) too early to judge

2) it is less lazy journalism, and more stupid comments made by Klopp's agent basically admitting he doesn't think English football is good for his health, and that Bayern is a good fit for Klopp. Ed002 made us aware of this a while ago though so it is nothing new.

3) Liverpool. No team with Pickford, Maguire, Dier, Wilshere and Vardy in it will go very far. Too many average players for international level.

4) too early to judge.

{Ed001's Note - his agent also said he was aware Klopp was not considering going anywhere yet and would not be going to Bayern.}

3.) 29 Mar 2018 19:02:08
Dier is alright to be fair. Don't mind him playing the holding role. Agree on Maguire and Wilshere though.

4.) 29 Mar 2018 19:05:23
Yeah, should've made that clearer Ed. When I say it is nothing new, I was trying to convey that it is nothing worth worrying about.

5.) 29 Mar 2018 19:08:51
I have no standing when it comes to inside knowledge so only have instinct to go on but I do not see Klopp leaving liverpool unless sacked or he has won everything and needs a 'new challenge'. I much less envisage him going to bayern as i feel that they are the enemy in Klopps eyes, having a strong bond with Dortmund is enough alone for most fans and supporters to have a hatred of bayern but the way they helped to dismantle the team he built at Dortmund would make him a traitor to then go on to manage them. Only my opinion and I understand anything can happen in football but i would be shocked to see Klopp at Bayern Munich.

6.) 29 Mar 2018 20:21:41
I gon't get Dier. He is horrendously over rated. He tries the Hollywood pass too much and even when he gets it partially right, he plays them at an awkward height or pace to control which results in his team mates getting clattered or losing possession. You have to be a pretty average midfielder to get dropped for Wanyama as well!

As a centre back, Dier is average, and as a midfielder he is average. He's a good squad player because of his ability to play multiple positions to an okay level, but he is nothing special in any specific role and yet he'll start for England. Unpopular opinion, I know. I just don't think Dier is that good.

7.) 29 Mar 2018 20:26:42
I don't like dier. The type of youngster who lacks respect. I remember him on football focus saying "call me versatile but don't call me utility man" I saw it as a dig at milner. Some people don't give him enough respect but milner has been playing at the top level for a long time, a longevity that dier will never emulate. Dier is not and will never be the player milner is and has been.

8.) 29 Mar 2018 23:49:32
I agree with you on that one MK, Dier isn’t that good, he’s just the best of a bad bunch of English holding midfielders.

9.) 29 Mar 2018 23:51:29
Seems like the Klopp to Bayern and Firmino to Bayern rumours starting at the same time are a little parculiar. They say no smoke without fire but if you rub those two together I'm not sure how much combustion you'd get.

10.) 30 Mar 2018 08:03:23
for me dier by name dier by player really poor centre back playing in midfield but with loads of good player around him. think most player would get away with it playing alongside Mousa Dembele. as for International level it is so poor now, worst England team I have ever seen in my 43 years. yet we are still one of the favs for the world cup say it all.

11.) 30 Mar 2018 11:17:57
Bayern interest in Firmino started by some pundit who knows nothing.
Bayern interest in Klopp has been for a long time and all his agent did was turn them down politely. Nothing to worry about.

So part one of my theory has been confirmed, Phil has left. Have to say, this one hurt me the most of my time of being an LFC fan in terms of sadness that a player has left. Saying that though I am not angry he left or think less of him as a person or player. Phil gave everything he had at all times (bar the fake back injury) and was a great LFC player. For 5 years I got to watch a young Brazilian with raw talent and a fro, turn into one of the most complete and best players in the world. I also understand why he left, although I may not agree with it, his dream was to be dinho, and Barcelona gives him that dream.

On to my 2nd part of my prediction that Klopp has been preparing for this. Again I do not see us buying a replacement for Phil this window and that mane will take the lw position and either ox or Adam will fill the creative mid role. Some people are begging for a direct and fast replacement for Phil but I think that would be an unwise move. 1) January is an awful time to buy, best players are cup tied, and their clubs don't want to sell so prices are higher. 2) do we need a direct attacking replacement? We have mo, Salah, mane, Dom, ben, and even Bobby who can play the lw position. In all honesty I hope we wait till the summer we're we can take our time and get players who are not tasked with replacing Phil but tasked with making us better as a whole. No one can replace Phil straight out. But we can use that money to make our overall team better than it is now.

Completely agree dude. No time for panic. So much to play for this season. And with VVD at the back and hooefully an extended run for Karius there is no reason this season can't be a success.

2.) 08 Jan 2018 18:05:00
Great post dude, I agree that we don't need to replace Pipco immediately. I am also gutted that he has left, particularly in mid season! Your post got me thinking about other players that have left us in the past and how gutted I was. So let's play a game people, what player made you feel the most gutted when they left?
For me it has to be Torres; leaving and in the manner he did and to our biggest rivals at the time. i even banned the Mrs from mentioning his name in the house!

3.) 08 Jan 2018 18:11:38
If we don’t replace him now then we had better hope Lallana gets up to speed pretty quickly.

4.) 08 Jan 2018 18:14:40
I understand what you're implying, but define success. We need to do more than finish in the top 4. If our only goal is a Champions League spot we've now become Arsenal. I hope we have more ambition than that. I wouldn't mind eve winning the League Cup, or FA cup on top of a top 4 finish. We can even make the Round of 8 or semifinals of the Champions League. We are never going to attract players just making the top 4. Hopefully we overachieve this year so recruitment goes easier in the summer. I don't want players who just are looking for a payout, I want players who want the challenge and would take pride in putting us back on top.

5.) 08 Jan 2018 18:08:06
We need a passer of the ball in midfield. Maybe lallana can do that but it is a unknown really after his injury. He currently looks very rusty judging by last few games.

The ox has been decent last month or so but again I feel we are asking a lot of him to be that creative player in a midfield three when he’s played so many different positions over the last few years.

We have some great players upfront in Mane, firmino and salah but all there movement will be wasted if we stick with our midfield which will look to pass sideways 99% of the time.

I’m not wanting us to necessarily go out and spend on Lemar although I’d think that be a good move. But as a minimum looking at a player such as Meyer should be looked at very seriously imo. He wouldn’t cost the world like some of the others we are linked with due to his Mmm being in his last 6months.

6.) 08 Jan 2018 18:19:35
I must say it hit me today wat we have lost but can't keep a player who telling other players in squad how much he wants too leave complete bad example for the rest, as soon as all this started in the summer transfer window I have never looked at him the same his head was completely on Barcelona as soon as there was a sniff, as good as he has played an goals he scored in my eyes he weren't our player jus biding his time for his move, I jus hope we try an bring some qaulity in.

7.) 08 Jan 2018 18:51:42
OP, I agree with your post however, I think Mane has always played the left wing whenever the Fab 4 played with Cou in the no. 10 BUT I digress. Getting someone with quality will NOT happen in Jan, IMO as no team will sell you their best player (which is what would be needed to replace Cou to some extent) as we are now seeing with Lemar do that may not happen. We will have to trust Klopp on this one and even if we bring no one in, we will have to trust him and support the team.

I also disagree that we need to do more than just get top 4. By more, what does that mean? If by more, we mean that we should try for a trophy along with top 4 then I'm all for it. However to me, top 4 is the priority here and we need that more than any trophy IMO cos Arsenal did win a trophy last season BUT finished 5th behind us and we are seeing the meltdown going on right now. The outlay for VVD and Keita and whoever will come in, should be matched by CL footie and not EL footie and a trophy as Arsenal arein meltdown mode right now.

8.) 08 Jan 2018 19:12:47
Personally I think if we buy now we will seriously be extorted into overspending. We have Keita coming in. We have lost 2 games drawn 8 which would probably be less draws with decent defending. We now have a class defender. I think we can score plenty with salah mane and form into. It's not like when Suarez left so I'm not nearly has miffed.

{Ed002's Note - Why? Liverpool have already paid or agreed to pay well over the odds for two players.}

9.) 08 Jan 2018 19:35:41
To me success this season is top 4, hopefully last 8 of champions, and fighting for the FA cup. And I see no reason why all of that cannot happen with the current squad. This season may not be the one we wanted, but as a Liverpool fan we need to start thinking realistically about where we are. If we qualify for champs again this year that would be the first time in a long time we have done so in back to back years. If we get to the last 8 of the champions league that will be the first time and a long time. If we win the FA cup that will be our first piece of silverware since 2012. I am not saying we need to start thinking like a mid league team, but the goal has to be that we are constantly improving each season so that in the near future we are set up to fight for everything that we as a club should be (the title, and being a consistent threat to win the chammpions) . If we continue to try and just buy a quick fix or path to success like we have tried in the recent past we will never get back to the standard we need to be. Patience and trust in what Klopp is doing is what we fans need to support.

10.) 08 Jan 2018 19:41:55
Exactly as Ed002 said. We have over paid twice but hopefully they are players Klopp wanted that will turn out to do us well.

I don’t get why most of us fans get caught up on the finances when really most of us don’t understand it. Plus we are going to get seriously high prices no matter what really as now the whole world knows we have some cash.

It’s just like we all felt knowing Barcelona had the neymar money. We expected a lot more than what coutinho is probably worth because we knew they had the money.

11.) 08 Jan 2018 19:52:41
It makes me laugh everytime i see someone say clubs won't sell us their best player in January yet we've just done exactly that, it still beggars belief to me that a player with a signed contract can demand to leave and refuse to play with the thousands in wages being paid every week.
Ah well maybe im just old fashioned, I still think he needed to be here till the summer.

12.) 08 Jan 2018 21:17:08
Overpaid on Who? Virgil. Well we shall see how much Evans goes for or Maguire if either are sold. Apparently citeh want either one for upwards of 40 mill so I'm not so sure 75 for virgil is extortion in this post Neymar transfer market.

{Ed002's Note - overpaid on van Dijk and Keita.}

13.) 08 Jan 2018 21:45:07
SuperGrob, The last 3 of the last 4 players that signed for or left LFC in Jan as were Studge, Suarez and you guessed it, Cou. Can you tell me what all three of these players have in common? All three forced a move away from their clubs in some way. Studge forced his move from Chelsea and did all in his power to come to LFC. Suarez bit a player in Holland and took Ajax to court just to force a move to come to LFC in Jan of 2011 and of course Cou did all he did to go to Barcelona this Jan. In two of those three cases in essence, these two players did some disgusting things to get their moves in Jan. Of course, these are not common occurrences BUT by this standard, whoever we want may have to do a Cou or Suarez to come to us and if said player won't do that and the club won't sell regardless of the offer, what can you do>?

Hey all, I have had a mini conspiracy theory and thought I would share

Klopp has been playing with fire within the squad: I think that Klopp and everyone knew this. So I think with klopp knowing Phil would leave he decided to use Phil and save Mane. What I mean is over the past months Phil has played a ton of minutes and surprisingly unlike in the past has not really been subbed out late as much, where in the past I feel like because he may not have the overall stamina of a hendo hendo type he would be subbed late in games as his legs would die. Instead the subs have been mane, or a midfielder. This could be because Phil is just in the best conditions he has ever been, or that he is our best player. But I think this is because klopp is thinking that if he's gunna leave he might as well squeeze all the juice he can out of him without worrying that late in the season it will come back to hurt us. on top of that mane in the past few months has been sat for more games and subbed more than last season. That could be because he is out of form, or Because he's sulking, or because Phil is better in that lw position. However I think this again is a klopp move to say, when we lose Phil we are going to need all our attacking options healthy and fresh. I believe klopp knowing Phil was leaving and because mane has had some minor injuries has been saving mane for when Phil leaves so that he is fresh and ready to go. I don't think klopp will sign a January replacement for Phil, I think klopp has been holding mane back so he is as fresh as possible to fill that gap when the time comes.

I know this isn't even a conspiracy, more of a dumb rant, but hey I'm bored and wanted to start some banter maybe.

YNWA.

Genius is an understatement.

2.) 04 Jan 2018 15:36:03
You have a point mate. I didn't believe you, but then i remembered reading a Klopp fuel doesn't burn hot enough to melt Coutinho beams.

3.) 04 Jan 2018 15:48:39
You did say it's a conspiracy theory.

4.) 04 Jan 2018 16:15:28
Just to back my super opinionated thought up here are some quick stats.

December 2017 lfc epl games (7 played)

Mane- average mins per game of 45. And only played in 4 of 7, being an unused sub in the other 3.

Phil- average min per game of 86, playing all 7.

Average minutes based off all epl games played by each player last season.

Mane- averaged 86min per game for all he was involved in.

Phil- averaged 80min per game for all he was involved in.

Take that as you will, but manes minutes per game have been very low where phil has been used at a much higher rate.

5.) 04 Jan 2018 17:28:59
To be honest, I said when he didn’t take off Coutinho on Boxing Day that I wondered if it was because he was expecting him to go and therefore wasn’t bothered about energy conservation. Don’t know about the Mane bit, but i don’t think you’re far wrong with his attitude to Coutinho.

6.) 04 Jan 2018 17:39:20
If that conspiracy were to be true could end up being a really good bit of management.
Mane when fit and playing to potential is a very good player. Could end up trying to prove to klopp how good he is which will only benifit the team.

To be fair because we really maintained possession for the majority of the game only hendo really looked to be sitting back when attacking out of the midfield. In terms of Salah tracking back, again there were not many points where he needed to. Phil for me had his best game of the season, again didn't have to do much defensive work but his body language looked good, his off ball movement was good, and for the first time all year I kinda forgot he wanted to leave as his attitude on the field was good, even had a nice looking hug with klopp when subbed.

I will say our defense looked solid, lovern still looks to be a bit rash when trying to beat attackers to 50/ 50s but played well overall, klavan looked solid, nothing amazing but solid. And the two outside backs again looked composed, I will say I read Ed01s match report and he wanted Trent to be more involved in the attack, I did think he looked a bit more comfortable in defense, once Salah scored Southampton really just folded and the game was a bit of a breeze. Don't want to be negative but I still have no idea what Simon is doing sometimes, like I feel like he's is trying so hard to show that he's a top keeper that he overcomplicates things, and honestly his distribution is poor still.
