Players where interest has been shown:
Yves Bissouma (CM/ DM) Brighton would like to continue to resist any approaches although time may be running out now - with the player having made known his desire for the club to consider offers for him although has not formally requested a transfer. He shares a "representative" with Pepe who he spent a season with at Lille and he failed to persuade Arsenal to move for him - and they have now likely moved on. Interest of Spurs may not have departed with Mr Mourinho with them moving on Sissoko and looking for an upgrade on Ndombele - although he will not be first choice. Monaco may have provided an option but I suspect the price will be too high for them and they have a first choice preference.

he is not home grown which makes him less attractive to most English sides although Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool have spoken with his representative. He is not first choice for Manchester City but they could return - Manchester United do not currently have space in the midfield and have a preferred target to replace Pogba and clear DM targets, but don't lose sight of them - Liverpool interest remains but they may not have the money without sales. Leicester were also keen but opted for another. There is a further complication in that his family is directly involved in all major decisions and another an off-field issue. Brighton have made clear to one side who enquired that they will be looking to get as close as they can to £50M - although that seems rather unlikely now. As it stands right now, a move to Liverpool is unlikely.

Renato Sanches (CM) Lille are happy to let the player move on due to the constant muscle injuries he suffers; they wanted €20M cash or €30M with payments spread out although that could increase if Jorge Mendes can find multiple bidders or if there is no sale in January. Klopp has praised him in the past and he would be a more affordable replacement for Wijnaldum, but interest is not yet firm again but Liverpool could look to reducing the fee or even perhaps offering Origi in exchange - but Lille need cash. Barcelona had a sustained interest but they have moved on. I had thought prior interest of Wolves would likely have left with NES but they could take a chance on him joining on a loan to buy deal after his recent injury - they may even be in a position to look for a cheaper straight cash deal in January. Arsenal would need to make space due to their imbalance between DM and CM. Milan may provide an option but would rather save money and utilise loanees Tommaso Pobega and Yacine Adli to cover for the departing Kessie. The concern would be injury issues and, although talented, he is inconsistent. Maybe something can be done.

Jude Bellingham (CM) Manchester United and Chelsea were keen before he moved to Germany and will be interested again when he is made available for sale - and expect interest from Manchester City and potentially Liverpool as well. Dortmund will not be forced in to selling him next year and will seek a huge fee when he is sold.

Youri Tielemans (CM) will not sign a new contract so will be available in the summer at a reduced fee. His agent confirms that there is interest from Real Madrid who are looking for a Luka Modric replacement and that he has been approached by a third party representing Newcastle and is aware that other clubs, including Bayern Munich and Liverpool have scouted the player. Seems unlikely.
Franck Kessié (CM) Efforts are being made to secure a new contract, but the issue is over the wages continues with Milan struggling. Could potentially be sold but I expect agreement to be reached eventually else there will be a lot of interest with Juventus looking to meet his demands. Interest of Mr Mourinho at Spurs and now Roma remains. Spurs also want him as an Ndombele replacement but the player remains keen to move to Chelsea to eventually replace Kante - but Chelsea turned down the offer from his agent initially although a proposal is on the table that would suit both clubs and the player. His agent has also approached Manchester United and PSG but both sides would need to move a player on in order to add Kessie - but both are interested. His agent has also spoken with Liverpool and Leicester who may be interested in agreeing a pre-contract in January but both have preferred targets. Will move elsewhere.

Philippe Coutinho (AM/ CM) was available in the summer and was actively being offered around to English, Italian and German sides - but the clubs approached like Spurs, Arsenal, Wolves, Leicester Liverpool and Everton had preferred options or no interest and would only look to him if options dried up and if a loan to buy option were available - but Barcelona ideally wanted cash and still do. Italy may provide an option on loan but that won't suit Barcelona which might well rule out Lazio. Milan would not be a surprise at the right price. If Barcelona cut their losses then they may look to an exchange and might see who clubs like Juventus have available. Kia wanted to get him in to Arsenal ahead of Odegaard or Aouer - but that came to nothing.

Kia will knock on Edu's door again in January and try and strike a deal - but with Odegaard signed it is hard to see where he would fit in without Smith Rowe departing. Kia will also try Spurs again, who do have space in their squad but unless they soon turn things around their focus might be elsewhere. A deal involving Ndombele may be suggested. Kia has approached Newcastle but they have no immediate need for a superagent and need to resolve other issues before buying players and it is an unattractive option for Pipco. Liverpool will likely also be approached but I doubt would be interested - but you never know.
Florian Wirtz (AM) has admirers in Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool and Bayern Munich. Newcastle have a very experienced third party scouting players in Germany for them and have also looked at Wirtz. Has signed a new long-term contract but is playing well and Bayern might well look to an offer in the summer. Bayer Leverkusen will not want to sell and will point to the length of his contract. One for 2023 perhaps.

Aguibou Camara (AM) Although he has only just moved to Olympiakos, Lille have declared an interest in taking the player back and a number of PL sides have been sending scouts to watch him - including Liverpool and Leicester - but getting a Work Permit to play in England would be very difficult. Additionally, Villareal and Monaco have been watching. Not out of the question.
Luis Diaz (LW/ LM/ AM/ F) Porto rejected an offer from Spurs in 2020 and Mr Mourinho is thought to be keen on taking him to Roma and moving Justin Kluivert on permanently. Spurs do remain keen and Atletico have a declared interest. The player has been offered to Chelsea and Everton and has been scouted by Newcastle, Manchester United, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund at the behest of his agent although with Ancelotti gone Everton are not an option. His agent would like to organise a move to Real Madrid but they will not be looking to spend the required €80M cash on him. Unless the price drops considerably, Liverpool can be discounted.

Jarrod Bowen (RW/ LW) I am still not aware of any formal approach to West Ham by Liverpool, but Bowen is a player who would be an ideal replacement for the now departed Shaqiri - and he is HG. Liverpool have a good relationship with his agent and have apparently spoken with him. I don't know if West Ham would be open to selling. Their focus is on other positions. So it makes some sense if West Ham are open to a sale and if the player accepts a bit-part role. Previously Leicester had an approach turned down by West Ham. Spurs want to add competition to Moura but Bowen would want to be a starter so any club signing him would need to convince him of their project. I would not rule it out.

Moussa Diaby (LW/ RW) Bayer Leverkusen were approached about the player by Borussia Dortmund in the summer - they made it clear that he was not for sale. Liverpool have taken a look at him as a potential Salah replacement. Very unlikely.
Marco Asensio (RW/ LW) Goals have largely dried up and his representative is working with a third-party agent to find a club willing to pay something like €40M for the player. The third party has said that the player ideally wants a club in the Champions League but the discussions he has had have been with Leicester City and Leeds so far and admits knocking on the door of other PL clubs including Arsenal and Spurs - who opted for a deal involving Gil. Milan and Juventus have been approached but have shown no interest. I suspect he might be seen as an option but only if Salah or Mane is sold by Liverpool but would not be first choice. Real Madrid will be open to using him in a part exchange deal of some type but finding a buyer at the asking price might be difficult but will try and do something with Dortmund or Seville. Unlikely.

Mikkel Damsgaard (LW/ AM) Spurs asked after a price for the player at the behest of Mr Mourinho who may have taken his interest on to Roma, but they don't seem to have the space unless Pastore or Mkhitaryan were to leave. Spurs lost the plot rather and made a particularly low offer in the summer. If they are serious they will return and make a serious offer. Real Madrid consider him an option at the right price if they sell Isco. Sampdoria saying Southampton and Leeds, and more recently Aston Villa, have all enquired about the availability of the player who only joined last summer. Aston Villa have added Leon Bailey to Trezeguet already so would be looking to use him in an AM role.

Juventus see him as a potential addition but game time would be restricted. Sampdoria have told Milan that they are not open to being given their "off cuts" in exchange and want a huge cash deal - but Milan would need to sell Leao to bring him in - and they also need the money after completing the Tonali deal. Leeds have a compelling need to add a LW/ AM player and might well push. Liverpool are well placed in the wide positions but could see him as an AM player they are in need of. Don't lose sight of Juventus or Lazio. Sampdoria are reluctant to sell but I suspect more clubs will be showing an interest. I expect him to stay another year unless a very good offer is made.

Kingsley Coman (LW/ RW) Bayern Munich are open to moving the player on and adding a fresh face if a new contract is not signed. He has already been discussed with an English side but they have not made an offer and it is dependent on a departure. The player has not ruled out signing a new contract but there may not be a good enough offer coming. The asking price could be beyond what any club will pay. Nagelsmann would like him to stay but his representative sees better options elsewhere. Bayern Munich said €100M plus to an English side who enquired. Liverpool are amongst a number of clubs who have asked after his availability - but unless Mane or Salah leave there is no starting place for him and even then he is very likely beyond their financial means. Bayern Munich say only one side has directly approached them. Not first choice for Chelsea or Juventus.

Adama Traore (RW) Valencia, Leeds and West Ham have asked Wolves about his availability and it would not be a surprise to see some interest from Spurs. Could potentially still interest Klopp who has had the hots for him before. Wolves will want a new contract agreed. Liverpool interest has not gone away and Adama Traore is not keen on a new contract at Wolves. If a move were to happen, one of the "front three" would certainly leave in the summer. To fund it Liverpool would either need to sell players, Wolves to accept a payment plan again or they would have to borrow the money. As I have said before, Klopp really likes him and it is certainly a possibility but there is little return in goals and Sarr might be a better option in that respect. Valencia may be open to an exchange for Goncalo Guedes.

Ismaila Sarr (RW/ LW/ F) is possibly available regardless of Watford being promoted. Wolves have enquired after him - wanting to be kept informed just in case Adama Traore is sold. Crystal Palace have him on their list of potential Wilfried Zaha replacements, but he is not their first choice, although they could turn to him if their first-choice heads elsewhere (which he will) . Liverpool are interested inasmuch as he is another player like Adama Traore that Klopp has had his tongue down the throat of, but whilst he would make a good replacement for Shaqiri consideration would need to be given to (a) would Sarr want to limit his playing time to that which Shaqiri gets, (b) he is not Home Grown, (c) he would block Harvey Elliott's progression, (d) he would cost £30M or thereabouts, and (e) like many players asked about, would depart for AFCON when it happens as he is Senegalese. I am not aware of any approach to Watford by Liverpool but they have spoken with his agent. If Mane or Salah were to leave Liverpool, it makes a great deal more sense and would provide the funding.

Jeremy Doku (W) Bayern Munich turned their attention to him but have stepped back after being told an asking price by his agent that reflected Rennes paying over the odds for him and the club will look to keeping him another year - as Rennes do not consider him for sale. Liverpool have had a long term interest in the player. Real Madrid consider him an option to replace departing wingers. It was suggested to Arsenal that he would be a good replacement if they can off-load Pepe. Perhaps one for the summer but lack of goals might be a concern for Liverpool, but don't rule him out at all.

Ousmane Dembele (LW/ RW/ F) Klopp's interest does not seem to go away but the attraction will be that he is a Free Agent although his preference is likely to be elsewhere unless Salah or Mane were to leave. He will be a Free Agent in the summer - Barcelona may try again with a new contract or a January sale but his agent is offering him around now - looking for a large signing on package from the usual suspects. Barcelona may spring a surprise in January and look to see if something could be done with potential targets at Juventus or Milan to reduce the price. They may also look to an exchange with Chelsea for Rudiger but the Chelsea interest is elsewhere rather than Dembele. With Sancho arriving it is hard to see interest from Manchester United although they have been approached. A discussion has been held with Newcastle. }

Karim Adeyemi (S) Interest from several sides who have been watching including Barcelona and Liverpool but will not be sold in January. Bayern Munich were told Adeyemi is not for sale and his agent says eventually a move to RBL is planned and I would expect him to be playing in Germany next season. However, Bayern Munich will look to early discussions to try and strike a deal for next summer or just possibly 2023. RBS will continue to resist an early sale but will be will open to an auction next summer. I would not rule out an offer from Borussia Dortmund. Won't be moving to Liverpool.

Players who might leave or interest has been shown in:
Loris Karius (G) will be sold for whatever the club can get or released in January for nothing if another club shows an interest. Union Berlin saw the price Liverpool wanted as too high. Greuther Furth and Basel may offer a solution in January at a very low fee or may opt to look to agreeing a deal to take him as a Free Agent in the summer. Another lesson to be learned by Liverpool when pricing sales.
Nathaniel Phillips (CB) West Ham interest remains and an enquiry has been made by Brighton who are seeking a CB addition in January. If not over-priced he should get a move.

Thiago Alcantara (CM) At 31, he could be sacrificed in the summer to make space for additions.
Naby Keita (CM) I am told he is looking to stay but Liverpool might want to see what options they can find for him.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (CM/ RW) AOC is uncomfortable with his lack of game time and options are being sought by his agent.
Mo Salah (RW) I suspect the contract situation is made complicated because of his expectation to be the post-Ronaldo poster boy at Real Madrid - and might of been if the financial expectations were better. Approaching 30 he might now be thinking that opportunity has gone for good and his "agent" might well be pressing for a huge deal in terms of money and length of contract that would not suit the club - hence there being no agreement so far. I would not completely discount Barcelona as an option but it would require at least one player in exchange and he knows that Real Madrid have a much preferred target.

Divock Origi (S) The interest of Cercle Brugge has gone due to asking price. Fenerbahce were interested in a loan with an option to buy. Crystal Palace had him on a list of potential Batshuayi and Wickham replacements but moved on. He will be somewhere down the extensive list of strikers West Ham were considering but might be a realistic option as they need to fix two key problems. Wolves offer an option but not at the asking price. Mainz have an interest. Liverpool will keep him if they cannot get the price they want.

What a fantastic Christmas treat! Thanks very much Ed002, I hope you have a wonderful Christmas.

Other than a pre-contract situation in January, with multiple players out of contract in the summer, is it unrealistic to expect a January arrival?

{Ed002's Note - I hope the club will not buy for the sake of it and make sure they get whoever they decide they want in the long term. I am not so sure that the club will be able to do much in January.}

2.) 25 Dec 2021 14:09:23
Thanks Ed002. Awesome info as always. Guess a lot will depend on outgoings and how much can be raised.

3.) 25 Dec 2021 15:09:07
Merry Christmas Ed! Appreciate the update.

4.) 25 Dec 2021 16:18:36
In regards to Salah and Barcelon you said if they moved it would require a player in exchange, is that Liverpool wanting a player or Barcelona wanting to offload? And who would it most likely be.

{Ed002's Note - They would offer a selection of players such as Coutinho and Dembele.}

5.) 25 Dec 2021 18:23:21
Thank you very much, Ed02. Merry Christmas to you.

{Ed002's Note - And you. Thanks.}

6.) 25 Dec 2021 19:10:08
The gospel 👌🏻.

7.) 25 Dec 2021 20:53:59
Thanks Ed 👍🏻.

8.) 25 Dec 2021 21:56:05
Thanks Ed - great read - concise and to the point. Thanks for taking the time and effort.

As w3 get to the end of another difficult year I’d like to say thanks to all the Ed’s for their efforts and to everybody who contributes. We don’t always agree but that’s a good thing - it would be nowhere near as interesting if we did. The best football site on the inter web thing by mikes.

Bring on 2022 - English and European Champions, here we come!

{Ed002's Note - We appreciate the continued support of the site. Enjoy the holiday season.}

9.) 26 Dec 2021 12:22:43
Thank you so much eds2. It is very much appreciated mate. I hope you enjoyed your Christmas
Do you think Brighton mite consider a swap plus money for bissouma and Nathaniel Phillips?

{Ed002's Note - Brighton wsill resist a sale, so it seems unlikely.}

10.) 26 Dec 2021 12:42:21
The only person I listen to for LFC transfer news thanks ed2!

11.) 26 Dec 2021 18:18:48
You certainly don’t skimp on details Ed. Thank you! I hope you had a good Christmas and hopefully a boozy new year to follow.

As for what we’re looking at, selling any of our starters for Traore would be crass stupidity by the club, as would be accepting any deal from Barcelona for Salah which included their deadwood. There’s not one player at Barcelona even remotely worth taking, their current league position and performances in the champions league is testament to how awful and how far they’ve fallen. Essentially a one man team has been found out.

12.) 26 Dec 2021 20:02:11
Ed002 simply brilliant.

Thank you. Have been an avid pupil of yours and Ed001 on this site since the near administration and the takeover from Hicks and Gillett.

My best wishes to you for a peaceful and healthy New Year.

13.) 27 Dec 2021 00:31:06
interesting to see what happens. Hope we are smart with the little amount we may have available.

14.) 27 Dec 2021 07:04:05
I don't see Haaland in that list. : ( presume that's because we haven't shown interest, or our interest is in a different galaxy :)

15.) 27 Dec 2021 13:51:25
Thanks Ed! Hasn’t doku now agreed a deal, I think it was with atalanta?

{Ed002's Note - No, maybe you are thinking of Boga.}

16.) 27 Dec 2021 16:25:10
Thank you Ed!

17.) 30 Dec 2021 16:24:26
Offering couthino or dembelle as a replacement for salah is like offering a Ford fiesta for a ferrari, abs madness and we'd be out of our minds to spend hald a second even concidering it.

As ever don’t expect too much in January – this is really just a round up of players we know the club has considered or the fans have been asking after. Much will depend on any unplanned departures as well – so if, for example, Wijnaldum leaves he will need to be replaced.
Money remains an issue for the club. I am not aware of any real efforts by Liverpool to add a CB in January to replace Van Dijk or Gomez for however long they are out - and it is always a difficult time to buy. You are aware of players Liverpool had previously shown an interest in and it would make sense to boost the Home Grown quota if they do look to an addition - but that has to be offset against cost and clubs not planning on selling in January. The likes of Dael Fry, Ben White and Ben Godfrey have been of interest in the past - only White would potentially make the grade as the starter Klopp wants (e.g. Diego Carlos or Lisandro Martinez). Whilst clubs are already trying to firm up their plans for next summer, few plan to buy in January - taking a player on loan might be an option.
Sven Botman (CB) Agreed move to Lille as a GM replacement in the summer - Marseille and Inter were also interested. If Liverpool want him, Lille will look to a huge profit on the small amount paid as they will not want to sell a player who has only been at the club a few months. However, it makes more sense than most of the suggestions, but I don't know of any approach to Lille. Clubs speak with agents all of the time. Ajax promoted Timber and Rensch ahead of Botman and let him go just because they thought he was too slow for their game - but he is well respected as a defender. He would not be what Klopp really wants but he is young and has experience at a decent level.
David Carmo (CB) Braga have rejected an offer for Carmo from Leicester as they don't wish to sell but they could be interested if a firm decent cash offer were made. I am not aware of any approach by Liverpool at this time.
Ben White (CB) There is growing interest from elsewhere.
Ozan Kabak (CB) has been of past interest to both Manchester sides, Inter Milan and Bayern Munich but the asking price has always been see as high, although it seemed to be something between €35M and €40M it will have reduced due to the pandemic and Schalke having financial issues. The interest of the Manchester sides went when he left Galatasaray for Stuttgart and he hit an age where he could never qualify as Home Grown in England - and that is something Liverpool should concern themselves with as well. I am not so sure he is the starter Liverpool have been looking for, but he will be cheaper than both Llorente and Diego Carlos and could still push Joe Gomez into the background. He is well thought of by Borussia Dortmund who wanted Tanguy Kouassi as a replacement for Toprak and Belardi but he moved to Bayern Munich resulting in their making an approach and being told he is not for sale - but their declared an interest will now have gone after his disgusting behaviour. Schalke say they have also been approached by Juventus and Leicester. A far better option for Liverpool than Mandi but Schalke, who were reluctant to sell, will let him leave after his five game ban and the huge backlash there has been over him spitting at an opponent from Werder Bremen at the time of the pandemic. A foul human being.
Yves Bissouma (CM/DM) Brighton will resist any approaches. He shares and agent with Pepe who he spent a season with at Lille and the agent failed to persuade Arsenal to move for him - and since then they have signed Partey and a change in the decision process at Arsenal means any move is unlikely. He is another who would be off to the Africa Cup of Nations in January 2022 and not Home Grown makes him less attractive to most English sides although Liverpool and Monaco have spoken with his representative. I am not aware of any approach to Brighton by Liverpool. Spurs have kept a watching brief.
Isak Bergmann Johannesson (CM/AM/W/F) A versatile attacking player. I am aware he has been watched by Odense and Burnley on several occasions. Manchester United, Oostende, Liverpool and Brann have had scouts at games recently. The Burnley link will be because of his father.
Michael Olise (AM/W) Reading want to keep the player until the summer but have already fended of approaches from Crystal Palace and Wolves. The player has said he would like to return to Chelsea at some point, but they have not made any approach. His brother is still at Chelsea. There have been scouts from Fortuna Düsseldorf, Leeds, Liverpool and I suspect others looking at him. Would want game time assurances.
Adama Traore (RW) Klopp wanted him and ended up with Jota for financial reasons - could return and take him as a Salah replacement. Adama Traore is not keen on a new contract at Wolves.
Jadon Sancho (RW/F) The amateurs at Old Trafford knew the situation yet still wasted everyone’s time during the summer. Reputationally, another disaster for them left the club looking at other options and not resolving the matter. His agent (and I use that in the very loosest of terms) has some extreme demands and has been trying, for the past year, to persuade Chelsea and Real Madrid to meet them. With Salah getting older there will be a push to look to Sancho as a replacement – but the cost may prove too much for the club and it appears very unlikely.
Ricky-Jade Jones (S) Liverpool are amongst several clubs interested in the kiddie.
Possible departures before the start of next season:
Adrian (G) out of contract
I think Karius (G) will return and go on loan again in January.
Yasser Larouci (LWB)
Marco Grujic (DM/CM) will be available.
Gini Wijnaldum (CM) was offered to Barcelona by his representative as Liverpool had not offered him a new contract. Barcelona are continuing to deal with other priorities, but the coach was interested in the player who would be well priced in January - although they may opt to look to a pre-contract instead. However, the coach is vulnerable to being eased out after the election so the club may want to avoid committing to spending money beyond their primary targets. I am not aware of any interest from Real Madrid and their plans for next summer are clear – whether there is a change of coach or not. If the player were to be in the position to talk directly to other clubs in January, there is a chance that Inter Milan could look to seeing if he will sign a pre-contract. Whilst all of these options may be tempting for the player, the ball remains very much in Liverpool’s Court. My expectation is that Klopp will ask the club to offer him a new deal and that Wijnaldum will be happy to agree to it.
Mo Salah (RW/F) could cash into fund transfers
Xherdan Shaqiri (RW/AM)
Harry Wilson (RW)
Liam Miller (F)
Divock Origi (S) Cercle Brugge are looking to Origi if they cannot persuade Chelsea to sell Ike Ugbo to them in the summer.
Roberto Firmino (S) Liverpool will look to upgrade at some point whilst he still has value – perhaps in 2022.

Ed002 - thank you very much as always. This is fantastic information. You are a true gent and I hope you managed to have a lovely New Year’s Eve.

Red Sandman.

{Ed002's Note - Thanks.}

6.) 01 Jan 2021 19:32:54
Thanks eds2. Can I ask how else is interested in Ben White and roughly how much would BHA want for him. Thanks again.

{Ed002's Note - Ben White (CB) an alternative to Pau Torres for Manchester United, but seen as expensive because of the "English premium". Spurs have sustained interest but the funding will go on other priorities. Brighton will look to hang on to him and would demand at least £50M.}

7.) 01 Jan 2021 19:41:48
Thanks ED002. Great detailed update as always. Hope you are good.

Thanks for the update Ed.

12.) 02 Jan 2021 22:18:07
Ed002, you are the absolute best. No question. I absalutely LOVE reading your posts. You are more appreciated than you will ever know. Thank you and Happy New Year.

{Ed002's Note - Have you got a sister who is just as grateful?}

13.) 02 Jan 2021 23:11:11
Thanks Ed.

Interested to know if there are any names for the no 9 shirt being mentioned? With Salah possibly goi g, will we look to a more traditional 9?

{Ed002's Note - I don’t think there is a clear S target right now but Salah will not be replaced by a S when he goes. I suspect a first pick sticker may not be until 2022 and perhaps a younger prospect, perhaps to replace Origi, might be first.}

14.) 03 Jan 2021 04:27:44
I know it's highly unlikely but I'd wonder if Danny ings could be a possible striker of interest in the near future. Klopp and the players seemed to have great respect for him and he was so unfortunate during his spell with us I'd love to see him get another crack now that he's since turned into a top striker who should be playing for a top team soon. He's suited to pressing and working hard from the front and his finishing in the box would give us that added clinical touch we sometimes lack.

15.) 03 Jan 2021 15:51:37
This is great, Ed002. Thank you!

Quick question. Considering Allison is good for a knock once or twice a year, what do you see the club doing to back him up? I used to think that Kelleher was best suited for a loan so he could experience being a starter, but now could you see him being the backup going forward. Have you heard anything regarding what the club may be looking to do, and/ or do you have any opinions on who may be a good fit for the club?

Thanks again as always and happy new year.

{Ed002's Note - Adrian (G) out of contract in the summer, and I think Karius (G) will return and go on loan again in January and be sold in the summer. Liverpool have Kamil Grabara to return, Caoimhin Kelleher has done when called upon. Fabian Mrozek and Marcelo were added to Jarus. They should not really need to do anything.}

16.) 03 Jan 2021 19:28:27
I think Kelleher has proved a very able deputy. Seems harsh on the lad to be number two to Allison but it’s clear that he’ll get opportunities and if he comes in he’s competent and gives his defenders confidence.

17.) 04 Jan 2021 14:40:12
Thanks, Ed! I agree with how you view the situation, just was curious if I was missing anything. I'm very happy with Kelleher.

Post COVID-19 priorities should be for a CB to replace Lovren and an AM to replace Shaqiri in addition to the LB and some kiddies who have already signed. There is then an argument whether or Lewis is trusted as a send choice CB if Larouci leaves, knowing there is also cover from elsewhere. Furthermore, Klopp wants to add Thiago (DM/CM) but Liverpool has not spoken with his club and it would really hit what little available transfer funds there are.

Home Grown quota is potentially going to be an issue next season with two players no longer under 21 and probably two HG players departing (now that Milner is staying) which means the club will only be able to add one non-HG player without others leaving from the first team squad.

Potential Outbound Players:

Shamal George (G) Gone
Loris Karius (G) Liverpool find him back on the doorstep and will need to find a solution - perhaps a reduced price and an early exit - CSKA and Hertha Berlin offer opportunities - does not wish to return to Turkey although there is interest from there. With Boeckx getting toward the end of his career and Roef's departure this summer already agreed Anderlecht would like him to challenge first choice Van Crombrugge but the asking price was too high and they have gone for cover in Timon Wellenreuther. Wolves needed cover, but Karius would not be first choice there as they have added a player - and regular playing time is what he will be after.
Andy Lonergan (G) out of contract - gone
Yasser Larouci (LWB) Reims look to now be losing Hassane Kamara and they are starting to look for options and that includes Larouci. Leeds enquired but have stepped back. Brentford are expecting to lose Benrahma and want a left-sided player capable of covering the LWB and LW positions - and Larouci is a LW who has been converted to LB - and their interest is no secret. As many youngsters are doing, Larouci wants opportunities in the first team and Liverpool cannot offer that, and given a little something else going on, he may well look to options but I don't think he has asked to leave.
Adam Lewis (LB) moved to Amiens - loan with an option to buy.
Devan Lovren (CB) Prior interest of Zenit won out over Roma.
Nathaniel Phillips (CB) if Liverpool add a first choice CB that Klopp wants then time may have come for Phillips - Stuttgart would like to keep him on loan and may be open to buying him at the right price.
Nathaniel Clyne (RB) Gone.
Pedro Chirivella (DM/CM) Moved to Nantes.
Anderson Arroyo (LB) likely get another loan or the club need to cut him loose.
Gini Wijnaldum (CM) was priced out of a move last summer but will be allowed to leave if a new contract is not agreed. Naby Keita has so far failed to step up to take his place consistently so the club could look to hold on to Wijnaldum if they cannot sign Thiago - perhaps until either Keita sorts his act out or until Curtis Jones is ready to step up as a first team regular – but his chances drop away with Thiago.
Marko Grujic (CM) Liverpool will most likely opt to take a good profit and run as there is no guarantee of a Work Permit being granted or a place in the team - and critically Grujic is not HG - but the player wants a chance. Hertha Berlin asked for a third year on loan with an obligation to buy at the end of the loan but Liverpool want to sell the player now and Borussia Monchengladbach may offer a solution as they see Grujic as an ideal Denis Zakaria replacement, but will start discussions with the idea of a loan with an obligation to buy. Other options exist in Italy with Lazio who, like Borussia Monchengladbach, have been talking to his agent and Liverpool will likely get offers from both clubs. Napoli and Milan may just show an interest as well. Perhaps interest from the Premier League.
Ovie Ejaria (CM) expected to join Reading in the summer but they want the pre-agreed £3M fee halved.
Adam Lallana (LM, AM, CM) Moved to Brighton.
Xherdan Shaqiri (AM/RW) wants more game time and wishes to stay, and if he leaves it opens the door for HG player to ease an issue the club has - Seville interest has gone - Galatasaray want a loan with an option to buy. Interest of Lazio is possible as they have been unable to agree a price for their first-choice player.
Harry Wilson (RW) Minamino likely ends his Liverpool career – Leeds many offer an option, but Liverpool will not let him leave on loan.
Sadio Mane (LW/RW/F) one of three players identified Barcelona as a potential Messi replacement before the change of coach and now the have one Mane has worked with before. Two representatives of Mane's have spoken with Barcelona. One of the players identified by PSG as a possible Neymar replacement. A move this summer is unlikely, but it would provide the funding to allow Liverpool to recruit the likes of Sarr and Thiago.
Taiwo Awoniyi (F) no meaningful future - will sell in the summer if possible - loan to Mainz has not worked out well – a Celtic enquiry saw a large fee being requested.
Sheyi Ojo (W) interest from Nottingham Forest and Huddersfield.
Liam Millar (F) - a youngster who will suffer the same fate as many of the youngsters at Liverpool with opportunity not there – available.
Rhian Brewster (S) loan to Swansea again perhaps or keep him and integrate him into the team. A loan would be a great shame as he is good enough to take opportunities at Liverpool.

Possible Incoming Players:

Fabian Mrozek (GK) kiddie 16 from FC Wroclaw - very well thought of.
Javi Cendon (GK) free agent training with the squad – could be signed.
Konstantine Tsimkas (LWB) has signed instead of the preferred HG option of Jamal Lewis.
I suspect that a CB may well need to be added, assuming Lovren or someone else leaves. Liverpool may look to bolster the home-grown quota and have looked at Dael Fry (CB), Ben White (CB) and Ben Godfrey (CB) but are putting their efforts in to a high-end CB (Diego Carlos) first. Much will depend on youngsters developing and how Joe Gomez does - assuming Lovren is leaving – and that could drive whether the club look to using Gomez as first choice and buying a young HG player or moving for Diego Carlos or someone similar and leave Gomez as back up. Obviously, the club would also need to deal with any unexpected departures.
Diego Carlos (CB) Manchester City have dropped their interest and are looking at others. Real Madrid has a sustained interest, but their focus is on resolving financial issues. Barcelona have him on their list of CBs but they will look to horse trade using Ivan Rakitic. Liverpool has declared an interest in taking DC and he is the first choice for Klopp. If this happens, I would think it would be the big move for the club this summer and would leave Gomez picking up pieces across the defence. It may also need to be funded by a significant sale. Looks unlikely and no longer possible to include Xherdan Shaqiri in a deal.
Ben White (CB) potentially the pick of the younger home grown CBs - if Diego Carlos were to arrive or a CB were not to leave, he can also be scratched. Has a significant advantage over Carlos as he is home grown. Might well become the preferred choice over Carlos as a Lovren replacement - but it would push Joe Gomez down the pecking order. Manchester City have a growing interest in Ben White. Leeds are resigned to their interest going nowhere. Brighton don't want to sell and Liverpool don't have the money right now.
Lisandro Martinez (CB) watched by Liverpool and Real Madrid but he was not one of the players Ajax agreed to let leave this summer.
Edmond Tapsoba (CB) Moved to Germany in January 2020 and much is expected of him. They have no have no intention to sell and it would likely take an offer of perhaps €40M to tempt them. No known approach by Liverpool and if there were to be, they should perhaps think seriously about him having to play in AFCON.
Diego Llorente (CB) has been watched by Marseille, Spurs, Atletico Madrid, Liverpool, West Ham, Everton, Wolves, Fulham and Sevilla since joining Real Sociedad. Everton interest went with a change of coach. Wolves had an offer accepted last summer but the player was adamant his family was settled and wanted to stay where he was. The player interested Spurs when they thought Toby Alderweireld was leaving but he signed a new contract. However, with Jan Vertonghen leaving they could be tempted again. With Ben White looking unlikely Diego Llorente would offer a reasonable option to Diego Carlos to Liverpool - so perhaps. Marseille and Atletico both have financial issues and lesser needs so can be discounted. Sevilla were considering Llorente as a Diego Carlos replacement but can be discounted as they have a preferred option in mind. Real Sociedad want €50M - price is high. West Ham can be discounted. Everton interest went when they changed coach. Liverpool won’t have that much available without a major sale.
Francisco Ferreira (CB) Benfica's "Ferro" was one of three young players the club were very keen on in 2017 - he has been watched again.
Dael Fry (CB) Liverpool had a declared interest in Fry but that will have gone.
Ben Godfrey (CB) - another HG option to Fry. But nothing is happening so I think he can also be scratched.
Ozan Kabak (CB) has been of past interest to both Manchester sides, Inter Milan and Bayern Munich but the asking price has always been see as high, although it seemed to be something between €35M and €40M it could have halved due to the pandemic and Schalke having financial issues. The interest of the Manchester sides when he left Galatasaray for Stuttgart and he hit an age where he could never qualify as Home Grown in England - and that is something Liverpool should concern themselves with as well. I am not so sure he is the starter Liverpool have been looking for, but he will be cheaper than both Llorente and Diego Carlos and would still push Joe Gomez in to the background. He is well thought of by Borussia Dortmund who wanted Tanguy Kouassi as a replacement for Toprak and Belardi but he moved to Bayern Munich resulting in their making an approach and being told he is not for sale - but they have declared an interest. Schalke say they have also been approached by Juventus and Leicester. A far better option for Liverpool than Mandi.
Aissa Mandi (CB) Real Betis CB who Newcastle have an interest in. West Ham were interested last summer but not convinced, and instead opted for young prospect Goncalo Cardoso. Real Betis would sell at the right price. For Liverpool he would be a Lovren replacement and financially perhaps using Nathanial Phillips makes more sense. Fenerbahce have had talks with Real Betis. Another who would be off the AFCON and no approach to his club by Liverpool.
Thiago Alcantara (CM) was expected to extend at Bayern Munich but looking at options - Juventus may be interested. Liverpool have not approached Bayern Munich and has no agreement regardless of what the Fat Kid from Bolton and his invisible friend says. Bayern Munich expected Thiago to extend at Bayern Munich but they do not want to pay more than the €12M a year he is currently earning. Klopp has been speaking directly with the player but seems to have heeded the warding from Bayern Munich. Klopp is certainly keen there are concerns from at least two people in the club that his age, injury issues and lack of a sell on value mean that the club should step back. His huge wages may also cause concern amongst the players at Liverpool. Now his head has been turned and wants to move it seems that Liverpool will not pay the asking price and will try and leverage a cheap move or leave Bayern Munich with a player who is unhappy and return for him in January when a Bosnam move can be arranged for next summer. PSG spoke with them during discussions they have been having over another player, but he is certainly no more than an option for them. Manchester City have concerns about the age/price/injury status as others at Liverpool have raised.
Ismaila Sarr (RW/LW/F) has had a disrupted season after moving from Rennes and has become available with Watford being relegated and Wolves have enquired after him - wanting to be kept informed just in case Adama Traore is sold. Crystal Palace have him on their list of potential Wilfried Zaha replacements, but he is not their first choice, although they could turn to him if their first choice heads elsewhere. It has been suggested that Liverpool are interested but whilst he would make a good replacement for Shaqiri but (a) would Sarr want to limit his playing time to that which Shaqiri gets, (b) he is not Home Grown, (c) he would block Harvey Elliott's progression, (d) he would cost £40M or thereabouts, and (e) like the last few players asked about, would depart for AFCON when it happens as he is Senegalese. I am not aware of any approach to Watford by Liverpool, but the club may have spoken with his agent. If Mane or Salah were to leave, it makes a great deal more sense and would provide the funding.
Mateusz Musialowski (RW) Polish kiddie who has signed.
Jeremy Doku (RW/LW) Liverpool attempted to strike a deal for Jeremie Doku but dropped their interest in the kid because of a misunderstanding about him going to see Chelsea (which turned out to be his sister not the club). There was a fear that Anderlecht would face further sanctions over past issues and an approach by Milan about the player saw them ask €20M. The situation has now changed and offers may be listened to after he has had a good season - but any deal is likely going to need a one- or two-year loan back to Anderlecht. This is where it gets difficult and would cut Milan out of a deal. Clubs are going to be less likely to want to tie funds up in such a way. I am not aware of another approach by Liverpool at this time but at the right price there could be well be interest.
Ousmane Dembele (RW/LW) Someone close to the situation tells me Liverpool has made a general enquiry as to the asking price - and have been told €100M – nothing more at this time and unless Salah or Sadio Mane were to leave it would be a very unlikely transfer. But I would not rule it out if the price halves and could be offered as part of a deal for Sadio Mane perhaps?

Ed002

1.) 27 Aug 2020 13:03:35
Thanks for the update Ed002, very informative as always!

2.) {Ed002's Note - It is very possible that Barcelona will make an offer for Sadio Mane.}

3.) 27 Aug 2020 13:30:48
Hopefully we stand firm on mane not being for sale. Imo right now we are the better side.

Thanks for the update ed, hopefully we can get some good fees for the players mentioned (grujic, Wilson, shaqiri) if they are sold and keep hold of wijnaldum and mane.

4.) 27 Aug 2020 13:46:50
Mane to Barcelona will never happen even if Barcelona offer stupid money. They ain't challenging for any major titles for the next few seasons anyways with the bang average squad they have got. Why would Mane want to be part of a rebuild project at 28? He has 4 seasons at the very top left in him and I'm sure he would rather be winning titles than jumping onto a battered ship in desperate need of repair top to bottom.

5.) 27 Aug 2020 13:46:58
Accepting Dembele in P/ E for Mane is like swapping a Ferrari F40 for a clapped out Austin Allegro and fifty quid. If that’s put on the table it should be dismissed immediately.

6.) 27 Aug 2020 13:14:38
Thanks a bunch ed02!

7.) 27 Aug 2020 13:48:59
Ed002, if Barcelona came in for Mane is there any chance they might look to include Ansu Fati in a deal with cash? Both play as left wingers and he is a very special talent. Would be a direct swap and i'd just about grin and bare it as i cried myself to sleep.

{Ed002's Note - None.}

8.) 27 Aug 2020 14:00:24
Playing devils advocate here but maybe Mane just wants to play for Barcelona? Maybe it's a dream he's had since he was a kid. We all approach transfers/ rumours as fans, understandably, like "why would he want to leave"? . "Why wouldn't he want to come"? . If Messi and Suarez leaves it frees up a lot of wages and Sadio could do a lot of even more good work back in Senegal with more money. That said I really really hope he stays with us for a long time to come.

9.) 27 Aug 2020 14:00:46
Thank you for the update Ed. Only thing that scares me is Mane of interest to Barca. That would be very hard to accept and would be nearly impossible to replace what he brings to our team.

{Ed002's Note - He is playing well, he has been on their list for some time, and know they have a coach he knows well.}

10.) 27 Aug 2020 14:27:18
Didn’t think mane got on with koeman whilst he was at Southampton. Things move on I guess. Would be gutted to lose him from the team.

11.) 27 Aug 2020 14:37:40
Ultimately if Barcelona make an offer too good to resist, to my mind that’s anything north of £150m, we need to replace him with similar quality in terms of goals and assists. If he were to leave we should go all out for someone like Sancho.

{Ed002's Note - Nothing like that is going to happen.}

12.) 27 Aug 2020 14:42:27
Imagine if you are salah today lol. I am loving it. all his life he wanted to move to Barca/ real and They want Mane instead.
If Mane goes, The fans will riot against FSG.

13.) 27 Aug 2020 14:49:46
the question is ed02 can they afford him? i think not.

{Ed002's Note - They have players available for exchange and sale. They can afford him.}

14.) 27 Aug 2020 16:00:25
Only 2 players could replace Mane and that's Son or Mbappe.

15.) 27 Aug 2020 15:27:38
Ed002

As always, thank you very much for your insight. I am incredibly grateful for it.

FIngers crossed they don't press to hard for Mane. He would be incredibly difficult to replace.

Red Sandman.

16.) 27 Aug 2020 15:53:42
Extensive, comprehensive and precise as always Ed002. Thanks very much.

17.) 27 Aug 2020 15:59:25
Would Barcelona look to offer us players in exchange? And who would they likely be? Dembele plus cash?

{Ed002's Note - Yes and possibly.}

18.) 27 Aug 2020 16:00:13
Ed is this assuming that Messi leaves?

{Ed002's Note - RTP.}

19.) 27 Aug 2020 16:18:45
Mane is worth 30+ goals a season in assists and goals, with due respect to Sarr, Traore or Dembele they’ve barely got 30 in them added together (notwithstanding the fact Dembele is actually made out of crisps and is a big time Charlie) .

To sell Mane and replace with any of them is a huge downgrade, so if Mane does go, it is imperative to replace with another top quality player and not take a punt on someone because of apparent “potential”. Remember Markovic or the so called “French Gems”? That did not go well.

Whereas I’m confident we won’t sell Mane, I’m also a realist that money talks and he may harbour an ambition to play there, so if that happens the club need to get it right or forget about defending the title.

20.) 27 Aug 2020 16:21:40
Is Dembele the only player of theirs we have interest in?

{Ed002's Note - Probably but they have plenty on offer.}

21.) 27 Aug 2020 16:30:10
Griezmann, Fatu and £50 million is the only offer they could make, although i wouldn't be surprised if FSG left us with the only option being that we got Mane sold to get transfer funds.

22.) 27 Aug 2020 16:41:17
Mane is going nowhere.

23.) 27 Aug 2020 16:41:44
Don't know why this Barcelona interest in Mane is getting people wound up. He is not joining them any time soon. Barcelona won't pay what we would want for him and I very much doubt Klopp would be interested in any of the garbage players they offer us in part exchange anyways.

24.) 27 Aug 2020 16:50:29
I mane leaves we can replace him with brewster but we shouldn't opt for any player in exchange. Full on cash 100 million +.

25.) 27 Aug 2020 17:17:54
Btw Ed, thank you for the detailed information, really appreciate your time and effort!

26.) 27 Aug 2020 17:39:30
Hopefully we don't sell our best players / need to sell tham anymore / they won't force a move. In your opinion Ed2 will Mane's head be turned by the opportnity to play for Barcelona or is he happy at Liverpool.

{Ed002's Note - Players are transient employees of the club - squad size is finite so space has to be made for additions.}

27.) 27 Aug 2020 17:41:36
Thanks Ed.

28.) 27 Aug 2020 18:25:10
Mane is going nowhere, he absolutely despises Koeman. Better chance of Werner moving to spurs!

{Ed002's Note - Mane has said extremely nice things about Ronald Koeman. Interesting that a Liverpool support, even if it is on f the least knowledgeable ones, is now calling Sadio Mane a liar.}

29.) 27 Aug 2020 18:33:22
Thanks Ed002.

Out of interest, With you mentioning two of Manes representatives have spoken to Barcelona, has Mané shown any signs or made any noises regarding a possible transfer to Barcelona?

{Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware but they would not be talking without his knowledge.}

30.) 27 Aug 2020 19:18:45
Ok, thanks.

31.) 27 Aug 2020 19:39:32
Ed002. Thank you for the great update and for your time in doing it. The possibility of Mane going is somewhat frightening but we will have to deal with it the best we can. With your vast knowledge of players available this transfer window, who would you suggest as a sensible replacement. Unfortunately this time I don’t think we have a capable youngster to bring through let alone an established left sided forward bar Origi who in my opinion is miles behind Mane.
Thanks as always.

{Ed002's Note - Klopp has shown his public admiration of Sarr, Traore and for Dembele. If Mane were to leave - and keep in mind that his representatives knew he was one of three on the list of potential replacements for Messi and they have approached Barcelona - perhaps Klopp will opt for one of those if Mane were to leave.}

32.) 27 Aug 2020 20:24:40
Is that adama traore and dembele of barcolona ed?
Oh god no please!

{Ed002's Note - Yes.}

33.) 27 Aug 2020 20:40:34
I have to say, If the best we could come up with to replace one of the most effective creative goalscoring forward players in Europe is Sarr, Traore or Dembele, it’s underwhelming to put it mildly, as none of them have got anywhere near the kind of output that Mane gives us. And as for Dembele, aside from injury and poor attitude, he’s turned us down three times as I understand it, that should be enough for the club to give up on him as an option as he’s shown no interest in playing for us.

34.) 27 Aug 2020 20:44:53
Thanks Ed002 for taking the time to share this really appreciate it.

35.) 27 Aug 2020 21:45:48
Come on people relax. Before Mane came here not a lot of people were shouting his name.
We have won the CL and EPL in the last two seasons so if Mane wants to go and the right price or price and exchange is to JK and his teams acceptance then go for it.
All players get older and their performance drops and they are eventually replaced. The day will come soon when we have a new front three and the last thing we need is for this to happen when Jurgen is leaving.
If he starts rebuilding now SO BE IT. We have survived great players like Keegan and Rush leaving in the past and got stronger.
Long term it is for the good of the club.

36.) 27 Aug 2020 22:04:03
I’d imagine that Liverpool would shy away from the sort of clause ridden agreement that saw Coutinho go to Barcelona given we’ve never seen quite a bit of that cash. If they want Mane then we’ll have it all upfront please and none of the ‘pay you more if we win something’ which would seem unlikely to deliver in the short term with the poor manager they have chosen.

37.) 27 Aug 2020 22:21:03
I wonder how much Levy would let Son go for.
He would be my first choice above literally anyone else affordable.

{Ed0666's Note - you can forget about Daniel levy doing us any favors mate.

38.) 30 Aug 2020 18:09:02
I really hope mane doesn't go anywhere.

17 Apr 2020 12:31:59
Regardless of what the Premier League say this afternoon (they could just go through the motions and say "intent is to finish" (which it is of course), "need to assess the logistics" (the June 30 issue - which is easily fixed), "can't put a start on when training could start and matches begin", "still looking at options to play games behind closed doors" etc., I very much suspect the season is now done. The RFEF in Spain have announced the major part of their solution (La Liga has one major issue with it (to do with games restarting and stopping again) but have not really addressed the promotion/relegation issue (they have what they think is the answer but have yet to consult I understand - which oddly enough has never stopped them in the past) . There has been a significant backlash in Germany to the proposals to start as soon as they can behind closed doors - which means we could see the original plan to draw a line across etc. back on the table. The position in Italy is clear, the major clubs want a cut off. This afternoon it is likely that nine or ten PL sides will push a motion and ask for a vote to end the season now (they are not going to propose how that happens, as they see that as a specific issue).

Ed002

1.) 17 Apr 2020 13:14:52
Sucks for us, but I suppose it was inevitable under the circumstances. It's only football at the end of the day, not people's lives (sorry Shanks! )

Thanks Ed.

{Ed002's Note - I am pretty sure there will be no decision on how it would end today.}

2.) 17 Apr 2020 13:16:42
Some kind of simple statistical projection to predict league final positions Ed002?
e. g. CurrentPoints + ( (WinRatio * 3) + (DrawRatio * 1)) * MonteCarloWalkFactor)

{Ed002's Note - I am afraid nobody will be trying to predict the final table.}

3.) 17 Apr 2020 13:51:32
You very much think the season is now done Ed?

{Ed002's Note - Why try and change the words I wrote a couple of hours ago.}

4.) 17 Apr 2020 14:58:29
Thanks Ed002, be interesting to see how each league decides how to end it.

{Ed002's Note - Where is comes to it I suspect a similar, albeit not identical, approach. Spain (RFEF) have decided that they will end the season, if the games cannot all be completed (whether they restart or not), by drawing a line across now, not awarding the title, and settling European places based on current positions (with the exception of the Copa del Rey place which if played will go to the winners else to Athletic Bilbao if it can't). The critical point is that if the season restarts but cannot be completed, the results revert to the standings at the start of the suspension - and the results of the games played after the restart would be voided - this is controversial as far as La Liga are concerned and they have a counter proposal that says if the games restart and then stop, those positions should stand. But the decision belongs to RFEF and typically they would overrule La Liga. Whilst they want to complete the league, they too are going to draw a June 30 line across if the games cannot start on May 28 and complete by then – although they have proposed a back stop of the end of July (but nobody wants to use it and clubs don’t wish to exercise it). They have not addressed promotion and relegation completely at this time but seem open to the two up/none down principle as others are considering.}

5.) 17 Apr 2020 15:03:58
Thanks a mill for the update ED002 even if its not the answer we were hoping for.

So how I understood this:

You suspect no further games to be played in this season. Still to be determined is how the league finishes whether that be a cut off in the table or null in void season.

Is there a leaning either way in how the season will be finished at this time?

{Ed002's Note - Nobody has proposed making the season null and void.}

6.) 17 Apr 2020 15:08:36
So Ed02, if the season is done (as I’m sure you’re correct in saying), how likely do you think it is that Liverpool will be champions? I understand it’s impossible to say for sure, either way, but with your knowledge of how things work and the people making the decisions, we’d all be interested to hear your views? Thanks!

{Ed002's Note - In all probability it would need Liverpool to ask for it and for a separate vote to be taken - and that would need to gain the approval or abstention of the other 19 sides that comprise the Premier League - what is commonly known as a blackball vote. This means if one or more sides were to vote against that proposal it does not pass.}

7.) 17 Apr 2020 15:19:24
Thanks Ed002, appreciate your response. That doesn’t sound too promising.

{Ed002's Note - We have to wait and see. I will see if I can get some detail later from one of the attendees, but I very much doubt Liverpool were explicitly discussed.}

8.) 17 Apr 2020 15:25:18
Again that’s much appreciated Ed002! We all know there are way more important things going on right now, but I guess it still doesn’t prevent the potential disappointment. We are all grateful for you keeping us updated.

{Ed002's Note - It is really now a matter of waiting.}

9.) 17 Apr 2020 15:30:53
Thank you so much Ed!

Just so i'm clear, the PL is likely to follow a similar path to La Lige - if they can start the games by 28th May and complete by 30th June, they will. If not, the season will end, which the details are still to be decided.

Is that correct?

{Ed002's Note - Not really. The Premier League will consider the approach La Liga will take if they can't start the games by 28th May and complete by 30th June - with clubs resisting the backstop. The Premier League were a little naive about putting dates on the table originally but are now just delaying the dates as they simply do not know. They are not considering exit plans but are aware of the proposals that are looking favourite in other countries. Some clubs are, I understand, disappointed with this being so open-ended and want some sort of clusure on the season. As I said, it may be a bigger decision to be made when the "lockdown" is reconsidered in three weeks.}

10.) 17 Apr 2020 15:32:14
Thanks again Ed002, I am not sure we would ask but could someone else put the motion forward? Also am I right in the understanding an abstention is effectively a yes in that scenario?

{Ed002's Note - Yes, another side could put forward a proposal that Liverpool are awarded the title. And generally right, an abstain vote is in reality not a "no" vote and gets discounted. So 10 for (yes) votes and 10 abtain would get the motion past, but 19 for and one against (the black ball) would see it fail.}

11.) 17 Apr 2020 15:32:46
That’s good enough and clear enough for me Ed thank you. No way we will ask for it to take it to the vote, and if we did at least a few teams would vote against it.

Absolutely gutted, and we will probably never recover and come this close again. Somethings are bigger than sport though.

{Ed002's Note - I would not suggest that Liverpool would "never recover and come this close again". If that were the case, maybe Liverpool cound go and play in the Scottish first division where they do give away titles in such circumstances?.}

12.) 17 Apr 2020 18:18:10
Chances of starting games again by 28th of May in England or Spain are pretty slim I would think.

13.) 17 Apr 2020 18:24:33
Nothing concrete at all and the 30th June deadline was apparently not discussed.
A glimmer of hope yet perhaps?

{Ed002's Note - I have explained what was discussed under another post. The June 30 situation was not discussed as they don’t want to mention any dates.}

14.) 17 Apr 2020 20:57:57
You still hoping for a glimmer Juicer mate? All my hope has gone mate with what Ed’s has confirmed will happen. Let it go mate, our wait has been 30 years, it might as well be longer.

15.) 17 Apr 2020 21:23:04
I’ll stick with what I’ve said all along. The history books will show that Liverpool won the 19-20 premier league title. Mark my words. They aren’t guess work.

16.) 17 Apr 2020 21:23:41
The ED has given his opinion on what will happen, he has confirmed nothing mate, so i suggest you just have some patience and see what happens.

17.) 17 Apr 2020 22:02:54
So I can see it panning out that the only clubs getting any kind of reward from this ‘season’ will be the bottom 3 who were most likely going down. Brilliant that, be crap for 29 games and get to stay up, be great for 28 games (excluding Watford) and get nothing. And what about those teams at the top of the championship, especially Leeds who’ve been waiting years to get back into the PL. really think they need to find a way to finish the season off somehow.

18.) 17 Apr 2020 23:06:04
There’s no way they can finish the league by the end of June, they’d have to be willing to go another month I think. And that’s about the best case scenario.
What I can’t get my head around is that they can use the current top 4 to qualify for next season’s CL yet can’t decide relegation by the same measure. And that potentially they can promote Leeds Utd and West Brom but can’t have a PL winner when we’re so far ahead. So that particular whole idea is a non-runner for me.
They’ve got to find a way to finish the games if at all possible and I strongly think that, in the circumstances, the time allowed has to be extended.
But, again, this all depends on the public health picture and of course that takes precedence.

19.) 18 Apr 2020 06:11:17
Mathematically, we need one more win to get the title, away at city.
I propose we play that game before any new season starts. If we win, we get the title, if not, no one does.
Thats better and fairer than saying "top 4 get champions league, bottom 3 stay up, no title"

{Ed001's Note - in what way is it 'fairer'?}

20.) 18 Apr 2020 09:26:11
How would you end it ed001?

{Ed001's Note - if it can't be completed, then it has to be voided. Personally though, I would not even consider a new season until this one is finished.}

21.) 18 Apr 2020 10:29:37
I’m with you on that it would be best to finish what you’ve started but I think there is that much planning that goes into a new season, fixtures logistics etc that knocking back a season will have such a big knock on effect.

Personally if uefa are so bothered about getting leagues finished I’d scrap the euros completely as that gives next summer as a buffer.

22.) 18 Apr 2020 12:59:17
Have to agree with Ed001 in that plans to start a new season shouldn’t be before this one is complete, whenever that might be. I know there are far more considerations than I could possibly understand, but football should and will need to be flexible. Coronavirus is likely to be with us for quite some time and personally I can’t see next season starting on time either. I really don’t understand the necessity to draw a line?

Stay safe all🤞.

23.) 18 Apr 2020 15:19:42
Agree with WyRed here. Euros are pointless for me so they should scrap those to let all the leagues finish and then run on longer in 2021. Even more so given the format which is chock full of travel around a Europe!

24.) 19 Apr 2020 12:24:13
I agree entirely with ed1, and it’s not got anything to do with Liverpool, but the order of priority should be complete this season and then deal with future seasons at that point. It makes no sporting sense to just abandon this season, I appreciate that ed2 tends to point out that that isn’t necessarily financially or organisationally a better thing to do, but as fans I think most would consider it most important to resolve the season that exists.

25.) 19 Apr 2020 12:32:14
I would just like to add my thanks to ed2, absolutely phenomenal insight into what is going on and I think we all really appreciate the information you are passing on. Thanks mate.

{Ed002's Note - You are very sweet.}

17 Mar 2020 15:05:39
If you could borrow Ed002's time machine, when and where would you go?

Ed002

1.) 17 Mar 2020 17:13:59
I would either pop into the near future to rig myself a nice large euro-millions lottery win.

Or 20 years into the past and tell myself - "take the job! "

If you want a better answer then I'd pop back to 033Ad and check out this Jesus Story.

Oh no. Ed. did you lend Robbie Fowler your time machine? did he pop back to the year 000 and have a fling with a bird named Mary?

2.) 17 Mar 2020 17:23:50
Got too be prehistoric times would blow your mind away seeing gigantic dinosaurs running round, dangerous but insanely good .

3.) 17 Mar 2020 18:29:59
1860 to meet Robert E Lee. What a man, loved by his people. Then back further to Meet Julius seacer, and see Rome. wow.

4.) 17 Mar 2020 18:47:52
I'd go forward to the day we lift the premier league title.

{Ed001's Note - how far will that be though?}

5.) 17 Mar 2020 19:44:00
This year.

6.) 17 Mar 2020 20:03:24
The day before I met me bird so that I never would have planned on going to the nightclub.

7.) 17 Mar 2020 20:14:58
I have an obvious one but aside from that go back to tell 50 cent to make the last season of power better
Then back to abduct hicks and Gillett before the bid on our beloved club and tell Rafa Gareth barry is not a patch on alonso then back in to watch a match with shankly as manager hopefully meet the great man and try to meet bruce lee keep going back to around 1900 have a nice pint with ed666 and keep going backwards see what's been before us then one big leap forward to see how it all pans out.

8.) 17 Mar 2020 20:39:03
Go back too when we had the choice of signing hadji Diouf or nicolas Anelka and swerve diouf an sail away into the sunset with nicolas.

9.) 17 Mar 2020 21:21:30
I would go back to WW2, to experience the trials and tribulations, the effort, togetherness, camaraderie and the down right desire not to be beaten. Just to see when the chips are down and your backs against the wall how people used to pull for each other.

10.) 17 Mar 2020 21:42:17
Tbh I'd prob go back to see old family members and by accident mess the whole time travelling thing up. Get stuck in 1930 visiting some aunt I hardly heard of. Have to get a job down the mines and eat her stew for the rest of my days. Lol.

11.) 17 Mar 2020 20:08:18
The stoneage!

Seriously, if I could have a superpower it would definitely be to time travel. I'd aim for the end of the Neolithic, the start of the Bronze Age, when we were starting to build stone circles, and find out what the motivation was.

12.) 17 Mar 2020 22:05:54
I'd go back to the night before Sergio Ramos was conceived and beg his father to just get the lotion and tissues out.

13.) 17 Mar 2020 22:22:45
Another option and selfless, Wuhan, November 2019, with a shotgun, just before the act that started this worldwide pickle we find ourselves in.

14.) 17 Mar 2020 22:24:44
Roro what if you ended up being your own great grandad 🤔

Stoneage will find average white band singing in the middle "let's go round again"

15.) 17 Mar 2020 23:20:03
I'd go back and tell Bruce Grobbeler not to bring that f*****g witch doctor into the ground plus for forward to friday for the euromillions.

16.) 17 Mar 2020 23:26:06
Then I'd be eating more than her stew berg mate. That's a sin me saying that, I'm away to say to rosemary. Lol.

17.) 17 Mar 2020 23:45:20
Rosary.

18.) 17 Mar 2020 23:20:03

Not sure ed001 mate but a time travel machine would find out. Lol.

21.) 18 Mar 2020 00:52:27

Robert E Lee was loved by people who fought to preserve Slavery. He is not a hero
Matt in FL.

22.) 18 Mar 2020 07:29:15
2005. Re-live that wonderful night in Istanbul.

23.) 18 Mar 2020 10:11:49
The 1700s and I'd wow them with my magical inventions. "Watch how the food blends! ".

24.) 17 Mar 2020 20:06:41
Picking a single time is hugely difficult. Seeing the pyramids being built or Rome. Or a certain event, Woodstock for example, maybe my grandparents’ wedding. Walk around Pangaea.
Maybe we could solve a mystery, catch Jack the Ripper or help little Madeleine McCann out.

Interested to know what you’d do Ed.

25.) 18 Mar 2020 12:18:56
Id go back in time and give alex Ferguson's father a condom.

26.) 18 Mar 2020 12:38:54
I’d order a Pizza instead of the Bat.

27.) 18 Mar 2020 13:03:46
Alexandria, Egypt circa 200AD or Laurel Canyon, LA late 1960's.

28.) 18 Mar 2020 17:51:06
I would go back in time and move the venue of the 1989 f. a cup semi- final.

29.) 18 Mar 2020 21:50:50
I'd cheat and use it twice. The first time to be at the Azteca Stadium, Mexico City, Mexico on the 21st June 1970 and watch Brazil beat Italy for the World Cup. The second would be at any of the Brazil games at the World Cup in Spain in 1982.

30.) 19 Mar 2020 00:46:29
I'd go back to 90s and slap David Moores.

31.) 19 Mar 2020 08:57:26
Try and go to Hillsborough before the match and warn fans.

32.) 20 Mar 2020 03:39:21
I'd like to be sent to King's Landing to warn the Prince of Dorne that the Mountain is only playing possum and to avoid standing too close to him.

33.) 20 Mar 2020 10:28:09
Personally I'd go back in time and witness the birth of one of the greatest people I've had the pleasure to converse with.
None other than our dear beloved poster Harry.

34.) 20 Mar 2020 16:01:28
Back in 2012 I made this really great Christmas sandwich at about 3 am for me, my wife and best mate. All the trimmings of meats and stuffings, however, drunkenness got the better of me. No idea how but many flavor of crisps were thrown in with a couple different crazy cheeses. I added gravy and I don’t know why. Greatest sandwich ever and I’ve tried and failed many times to recreate it. If I could, I’d go back and get the recipe. Or kick younger me and steal it for myself.

35.) 20 Mar 2020 18:54:24
Matt, don't forget that as well as leading Confederate forces Robert E. Lee was a slave owner himself and some sources attribute savage slave beatings to him too. I'm hoping it's wilshere's idea of a joke or irony.

I'd go to Anfield on the 26th May 1989 to run onto the pitch and rugby tackle Lee Dixon just as he's about to hit the long ball that Michael Thomas ultimately scored from.

Could also go back to some time before 2009 and kill JJ Abrams and Alex Kurtzman with a shovel so they can't ruin Star Trek.

I know u don’t like talking money ed2, but any idea of the fee?

4.) 03 Jul 2018 16:33:00
Looks like a couple of cans of deodorant would cover the signing on fee, hopeful ;-)

5.) 03 Jul 2018 17:35:24
Too late for a medical, but just in time for a post mortem.

6.) 03 Jul 2018 22:42:38
Why is he snorting lynx 🤔.

23 Oct 2017 17:29:44
So the two coaches I would take to the Intergalactic cup are Eusebio Di Francesco and Carlo Ancelotti. Ancelotti is an outstanding coach but doesn't like the managerial aspects. Eusebio Di Francesco is an up and coming coach who will get better. Coaches only, no out and out managers.}

Ed002

1.) 23 Oct 2017 18:21:16
Rafa benitez he could win the league with this team.

It's time to start looking, 2 years and 4 transfer windows and he is still not addressing the issues everybody can see.

Goalkeeper and both centre backs not good enough winaldum Henderson can all good players but no great quality, firmino is a grafter but not deciding games like a no 9 should.

2.) 23 Oct 2017 18:50:31
77 how is that related? 😂

My picks would be Xavi Valero for the strikers and Keepers. He got the best years of Reina and Torres careers out of them. Superb coach.

For my midfielders and Defence i would pick German Burgos of Athletico Madrid. He is quite simply, an incredible coach. Maybe the best in the world right now in my opinion. A massive part of Simeone's success. If Simeone were Shankly, then Burgos would be his Paisley.

So Burgos and Valero. Probably a bit left field as most people will pick head coaches I'd imagine. But i think having two head coaches working together would end badly! Then for my manager/ DOF it leaves lots of options open such as Zorc and Monchi.

3.) 23 Oct 2017 19:30:18
Craig Shakespeare would win everything with this galactic team. I dunno who would be the top two managers atm. The Germany manager. Lowe is it? And. tempted to say pep guardiola but with the money he has available he should be winning the league and getting into ucl final every year so I'm not going to pick him although he probably is the best manager out there. I'm trying to think of managers who constantly punch above their weight. So poch, klopp, ranieri.

I'm going to go with the German coach lowe and ranieri because he pulled off one of the biggest shocks in sporting history. Rafa is also a good shout but I'm going with lowe and ranieri.

4.) 23 Oct 2017 20:07:10
I'll go with Juan Manuel Lillo and Juup Henyckes.

Juan Manuel Lillo because his ideas are brilliant and will bring out the best in the attacking lineup.

Juup Henyckes because he'll bring balance and control to the team.

5.) 23 Oct 2017 21:44:24
Di Francesco and Valero for me. Was going to pick Koeman, it was a difficult decision but I'll go with these two :)

6.) 28 Oct 2017 00:14:31
Shakespeare?
Ranieri?

🤣

You should write for Peter Kay, Superred!

7.) 29 Oct 2017 23:31:25
Ed002 is there any chance we could do an intergalactic legends team (I mentioned it a few weeks ago so just putting a reminder out there incase you forgot) There's that many legends in the history of football, I think it'd be a very interesting one, for each position there's so many choices so will be interesting to see who people might pick.

Obviously your very busy so whenever you have chance to do this kind of stuff mate, but would be greatly appreciated.

{Ed002's Note - You have to try me at the end of the week. I am on a quick dash away for a couple of days.}

8.) 29 Oct 2017 23:55:46
Ok no problem Ed002, will do, thank you. Hope it's a good trip!

{Ed002's Note - Thanks.}

14 Oct 2017 14:12:03
So the final three playing staff we are taking to the Intergalactic cup are three strikers. I will offer up Harry Kane who continues to do well, Sergio Aguero who offers something different and Paulo Dybala who is far more adaptable than either of the others - so offers options.

Ed002

1.) 14 Oct 2017 14:49:41
With Messi and Ronaldo in the team, I think scoring won't be a problem. The striker the team needs IMO is one that will work hard and create options for those two.
I'll go with Benzema, who I think is one of the most intelligent strikers in the world. He has the ability to adapt to whoever he plays with and that's why he's still with R. Madrid
Secondly is our own Bobby Firmino. How many strikers have the ability to press and create spaces/ chances for others to exploit. A fantastic player.
Thirdly is Harry Kane. Good off-the-ball movement, good finishing.

{Ed025's Note - bobby is a good player but never a striker mate, he pussy foots about too much and wears bananas instead of boots..

2.) 14 Oct 2017 14:52:41
Suarez, Lewandowski and Kane.

3.) 14 Oct 2017 15:20:33
Lewandowski, Suarez, Aguero.

4.) 14 Oct 2017 15:52:41
Dybala, Aguero and Suarez.

5.) 14 Oct 2017 14:32:23
Can't believe u missed out Suarez Ed002. Would have to be Suarez, Lewandowski and Dybala for me.

6.) 14 Oct 2017 16:50:48
Lewandowski, Gabriel jesus and Suarez.

7.) 14 Oct 2017 17:01:03
Ed025, I know most favour out and out strikers ala Lewandoski, Kane etc.
For me though, with Messi and CR7 as part of this team, two players that won't track back, I want strikers that would sacrifice cos I don't want 3 players up front not tracking back.
Would've gone for Dybala, but he won't work well with Messi. Suarez and Lewandoski would've to sacrifice part of what makes them good to accomodate CR7 and Messi.
Benzema and Bobby though can play their normal game and the team would still be balanced.
So, for me. Bobby and Benzema. I added Kane as the 3rd cos I'm impressed with his finishing.
And I know there are 23 players and different persons can play, but I'm assuming Messi and CR7 will ALWAYS play, so get the strikers that fit.

{Ed025's Note - benzema is a whole lot of trouble realtofel, i pesonally would not touch him with a barge pole mate, even though he is a very talented player..

8.) 23 Oct 2017 17:27:34
Suarez, Lewandowski and Kane win out and we move on to the two coaches. There is no need for an out and out manager - what you need are good coaches. New post coming up.

9.) 24 Oct 2017 18:20:22
Where did the intergalactic manager post go Ed002 mate?

{Ed033's Note - It's pinned as the last post on the Liverpool banter page (the first banter page) = intergalactic manager post

11 Oct 2017 10:27:07
Robert Stacey McLean once said "When I was in London in 2008, I spent a couple hours hanging out at a pub with a couple of blokes who were drinking away the afternoon in preparation for going to that evening's Arsenal game/ riot. Take away their Cockney accents, and these working-class guys might as well have been a couple of Bubbas gearing up for the Alabama-Auburn game. They were, in a phrase, British rednecks. And this is who soccer fans are, everywhere in the world except among the college-educated American elite. "

So to the one central attacking midfield player we are taking on the Intergalactic trip. My offering is Dele Alli who is seemingly still improving his game.

Ed002

1.) 11 Oct 2017 10:46:37
Hes a good young player is Dele Alli and will only improve so I'm with you there ed002, I'll choose him because of his current and potential abilities. Imagine him in this team we're making, he'd be a perfect fit.

2.) 11 Oct 2017 11:10:55
I'll go with Isco. Still my top CAM this season.

3.) 11 Oct 2017 12:15:46
I'm going for David Silva.

He's a wonderful player, a wizard with his left foot. I had expected him to slow down as he hit his thirties but he's been as good as ever. His technique, dribbling and vision are unsurpassed in the Prem and I struggle to think of a team he would not walk into and improve. He's also combative, despite his size, and he's not afraid to take a card for a tactical foul for the team.

To be honest, I was close to picking Alli as well but Alli's composure worried me. He loses discipline at crucial times and I don't want my team one man down if we are losing. Alli provides a different dimension to the team by adding goals from midfield, but his tendency to lose his head made me overlook him unfortunately.

As a Liverpool fan, I'd also have liked to have chosen Coutinho, but I thought Silva would have been a better fit in this team. This is not to say Coutinho is not a good player. It is just that Silva is way more consistent and in a team with plenty of shooters, I'd like a more pass-first player in Silva who can glue this team together.

Apart from these three players that I considered seriously, the others I passed by because they just were not on the same level as Silva, Alli or even Coutinho. For example, Ozil disappears in big games and usually gets exhausted after 70 minutes, Isco only provides one bit of magic amongst a plethora of missed chances and loose passes, Asensio is still young and nowhere near the level of Silva, Gotze has injury problems and has dropped a few levels from where he used to be, Muller is a fantastic player but he has really looked like a donkey this season and the last one and I don't trust him to magically pick up his form etc.

4.) 11 Oct 2017 13:08:27
Thiago Alcantara.

5.) 11 Oct 2017 13:09:56
If we were talking long-term it would have to be Marco Asensio, he is going to be a world beater. As it is only for a cup I will go for De Bruyne.

6.) 11 Oct 2017 13:15:51
Muller. Mr Reliable, Mr Versatile and an exceptionally able player. Assuming the forward 4 of an intergalatic XI would be fairly flowing, he'd be my one in the centre to make that work, fill in gaps seamlessly and provide limitless energy.

7.) 11 Oct 2017 13:40:12
I had a shortlist on this position of Alli, Asensio, Coutinho, Dybala, Isco and Silva. So tough to choose one.

Alli would be my wildcard - high potential there. Asensio, again potential, but above where Alli is in my opinion. Coutinho, I chose for CM. Dybala would've been my choice if I'd chosen differently in other areas - he's more of a second striker, and with the wingers, midfielders I've chosen I wouldn't need the extra goal threat, I'd need someone more creative and to sit in the hole. Silva is aging but is still quality and where some of these guys need to get to.

Looks like I'm going for Isco.

8.) 11 Oct 2017 13:47:09
David Silva for me too. The most consistent creative player in the premier league.

9.) 11 Oct 2017 18:42:20
David silva for me.

10.) 11 Oct 2017 20:30:28
Iniesta.

The best player in his position of his generation.

A truly wonderful footballer who could stand alongside Messi and Cruyff as one of the best players Barcelona ever had.

He would be my choice to mentor Pipco and get him to the next level. Suppose that’s Barca’s plan anyway!

11.) 11 Oct 2017 21:31:28
David Silva.

Mercurial-being of the heavens.

12.) 12 Oct 2017 10:26:56
Paulo Dybala is just another level, hardworking, brilliant technique, can spot a pass, shooting and set pieces amongst the best in the world, and he's still young. My absolute favourite player last couple seasons.

13.) 12 Oct 2017 11:29:48
Kevin De Bruyne all day long.

14.) 14 Oct 2017 14:01:30
David Silva is on the space ship as our attacking midfield player. Next up the striker - and a new post is coming.

David Alaba (CB/LB) - Bayern Munich would like David Alaba to sign a new contract but have ended up in a rather ugly stalemate and accept he will run down his contract and leave in the summer. They say there have been no approaches to take him in January. Pini is assisting in sorting out his future and has spoken with the few clubs that are able to afford the player. Juventus have been in talks over a pre-contract for several months and can now speak directly with the player. Real Madrid would struggle with the wages but is the preferred option for the player and remains the most likely destination if a deal can be sorted out for the summer. PSG and Chelsea and possibly Barcelona have been approached but perhaps only to gain leverage. Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool have enquired about the costs that would be involved - and the wages sought are huge and would be a problem for the clubs.

They have done what they can to outlaw it but in some countries clubs are dependent on third party ownership to survive - and they have no sources of funds to buy the player rights themselves.}

{Ed002's Note - If Liverpool are to end up 5th, realistically they will want Chelsea to win the CL and drop down to 6th.}

Scouts are sometimes ex players, but often for lower tie teams being looked at the are ex local referees or officials at lower league clubs. Then there are professional scouts. Joe Cole was picked up after recovering from a long injury. Aquila I was expected to excel but injury and team mates put the end to that. I thought Suso would heave been given more opportunity. }.

Suarez, Lewandowski and Kane win out and we move on to the two coaches. There is no need for an out and out manager - what you need are good coaches. New post coming up.

David Silva is on the space ship as our attacking midfield player. Next up the striker - and a new post is coming.
