this may seem a little unworldly but for all those showing displeasure at LFC and their players, but don't they all pay massive amounts of tax as well reducing salary only reduces tax revenue, just something for you all to muse over whilst untwisting you knickers. stay well.

{Ed025's Note - get in the real world eric, liverpool are taking advantage in a time of crisis and business is being put ahead of the well being of society, only the stupid can agree with what they are doing in this time of adversity, you may be playing devils advocate here...but if not you are being a dick fella..

When a business announces £42 million profit and has players on £150-200,000 per week, why would you furlough ordinary staff and expect the government to pick up the bill. I suspect some of the staff are on minimum or low wages and genuinely struggling to make ends meet.

I wonder what the weekly wage bill for all the non-playing staff is.
We all know the players pay large amounts in tax etc, but I am sure Liverpool could have found a better solution than this.

Grasping, greedy pigs with their snouts in the trough. Using this government scheme for all the wrong reasons, which is truly shameful and embarrassing.

{Ed025's Note - i wish i could disagree with you greenflash, lets hope they do the right thing and regain some sense of pride and give the people of this great city something to shout about mate..

I'm not blowing smoke, Ed25, but I always enjoy reading your replies. I much prefer reading your witty banter and we've exchanged plenty over time.
Unfortunately, I am having to read your replies to peoples furlough posts at the moment, of which I agree 100%. In over 44 years of following us, I have never felt more ashamed. If they do reverse their decision, Ed, it will only be damage limitation, but at least it will be something.
When we next run out to the strains of YNWA, for the first time ever, I don't think I will sing it.
All the best mate. Hopefully we will get back to the banter soon.

{Ed025's Note - i wish i had someting witty or enjoyable to say on the situation rome, most of my mates are reds and they echo what you are saying mate, im just hoping the club do the right thing and then when all this is over you can celebrate a well deserved premiership title and things can get back to normality, look after yourself my friend and stay safe..

OP, becos a law is there that allows you (as a company) to bilk the most vulnerable in our society esp. during a public/ global health care crisis, does NOT mean you should actually do it. This is why people hate capitalism esp. with the despicable way it is used in the States.

FSG had a chance to do the morally right thing and get some free PR points from the media and even stronger support from the LFC fan base and the city itself and they blew it, BIG TIME. That is the reality and whatever the law says does not remove from this reality. They did exactly what U.S businesses do and therefore just supported the notion that American companies are only in it for themselves, a wretched reputation that FSG only bolstered. Hopefully they can reverse this decision swiftly cos right no, it is a PR disaster.
