I thought meyer was a central attacking midfielder and therefore I'm sure one of the Eds has said he would be considered if Couts was leaving as a like for like?

I see . I don't know anything about him all I Hurd was attacking midfielder so just put 2 and 2 together. I hope we sign salah I think he would give us something different which is a good thing.

{Ed002's Note - Max Meyer fits the bill of a young attacking midfield player which prompted previous bids from Chelsea (who would have sent him on loan for one season before integrating him in to the squad) and Fiorentina in 2014. Schalke 04 do not want to sell the player and made it clear to Spurs and Milan who were showing an interest this past summer that any move was unlikely - going as far as turning down an offer of €47M. The player has shared his desire to play in Spain with Real Madrid or Barcelona or to play in England. Other sides such as Bayern Munich, Liverpool and Arsenal watched him last season but had no real interest. If Liverpool were to lose Coutinho and/or Firmino he could be a player they may look to but right now they haven't. Spurs remain very interested and he is refusing to extend his contract making a move possible this summer.}

I for one, am excited with the Salah signing should it happen. I don't care about his time at Chelsea as he never really got a chance to play and Mou has a record of ditching talented players or wingers who can't play the FB position in his bus-parking tactics like Schurle, KDB, Mata. Even Hazard had a pop at him for doing that a few years ago and that got him bencched. Salah has improved massively in Italy and with Klopp at the helm, I am excited at what he can do.

The idea of buying Clichy doesn't really excite me, but I do think he'd be an upgrade on what we currently have. He's 31, so it would only be a short-term fix. But if the plan was to slowly phase him out and Sessegnon in over the next season or so, maybe that's something that would work.
He's probably better than Andrew Robertson, who seems the most likely alternative at this stage. Ideally, I'd like to see us get someone better than both of them.

Clichy was an average player even during his prime. Do you really want Klopp wasting money on him when he is entering the 'pensioner' stage of his career? As the Eds have constantly reminded us, the plan is to sign Sessegnon and loan him back for a season, and and sign a senior LB to hold fort for the next couple of seasons till Sessegnon is ready to be our first choice LB. So its going to be Sessegnon plus someone like Mendy or Bertrand.
Don't need any of City's washed up rejects.
