Well that miss was on par with Ronny Rosenthal’s v Villa in 92!

Or is it the most bizarre Assist you have ever seen?

He gets out of jail because Gravenberch finishes it off.

The first 2 parts were brilliant, yet the part that mattered was sadly lacking, is that a concentration issue?

I will say that I feel Nunez has improved his all round game massively from last Season and when he is on the pitch, he makes things happen.

He is a joy to watch and deserves his nickname of captain chaos!

Lets not forget the goal he did score was superbly taken.

2.) 27 Oct 2023 13:03:22
He did brilliantly to get himself into the position.

Not sure why he doesn’t just side foot it in and chooses to put his laces through it.

Nunez hold up and link up play this season has been really really impressive.

He could and should have had a hat trick last night.

3.) 27 Oct 2023 13:48:33
Better he learns from it now. I think he will. I love that guy. Just mayhem incarnate. I think as time goes on he’ll just get better and better.

4.) 27 Oct 2023 14:00:37
He couldn’t get his foot around it.
I wonder if he had enough time to take a touch and then welly it in instead, but he wouldn’t have known that so decided to shoot.

5.) 27 Oct 2023 14:02:36
That right there is the difference between Nunez and Jota. You can sense and feel that Nunez will get better and better; he has still much to learn. I don't get that "upside development" feeling from Jota. But that's not slating Jota. He's a valuable member of the squad and strike force, and we should keep him. We've simply moved on from a lethal strike force of 3 (Salah, Firmino and Mané) to a strike force of 5 (Salah, Gakpo, Diaz, Jota and Nunez) . Better football management, to me.

6.) 27 Oct 2023 15:26:40
Spot on, ArAy1969. I hope Jota improves BUT he's been here way longer than Darwin and is till the player now, that he was then.

As for Darwin's miss, I think cos the game was so easy, he just took his eye off the ball and was just fully concentrating. That said, he needs to do be fully focused at all times.

Now compare that miss to the first chance he got vs Newcastle where he buried with pace and precision. He looked fully locked in and executed the strike perfectly. Personally, Im not bothered cos I know Darwin will continue to improve.

7.) 28 Oct 2023 11:47:42
In fairness he was just taking the pi* with the outrageous assist - that's the like of which we haven't seen since Ronaldinho ???.

06 Oct 2023 07:26:01
Maybe a bit pre-emptive, but can’t wait for Champions League nights again next season.

DS15

1.) 06 Oct 2023 07:38:36
Definitely. Hopefully whenever it next happens we can finally get over the Real Madrid hoodoo. I’m almost grateful we’re not in it this year just so I don’t have to watch us put in a shameful performance against them.

2.) 06 Oct 2023 08:37:07
Talk about wallowing in negativity.

3.) 06 Oct 2023 09:19:08
Why would it be a shameful performance against them this seaso LoweLFC? I thought like other fans that I'm enjoying watching us this season especially compared to what we had to witness at this stage last season.

4.) 06 Oct 2023 09:53:11
Perhaps the next time we play Real Madrid you just don’t watch @Lowel - that way you won’t need to worry about feeling any shame.

5.) 06 Oct 2023 10:12:47
So I can only assume, Lowe that you haven't seen our performances so far this season? We've been playing really well and I'm certain we'd give Real Madrid a good go anyday of the week.

6.) 06 Oct 2023 10:23:36
From what I’ve seen of our team so far this season I would’ve quite looked forward to meeting R Madrid. I think we look like a great team ?.

7.) 06 Oct 2023 11:20:58
When did I mention anything specifically about this season? I’m aware we have vastly improved compared to last season, I can’t wait to watch us every week. My point was that we have an embarrassing record against Real Madrid (0-7-1 in the last 8 matches - Liverpool shouldn’t have that sort of record against ANYONE), and whatever we do this season I’m glad I can watch this team get better without the silliness of a match against them where we lose for no reason.

8.) 06 Oct 2023 13:34:05
I'd like to see the new players gel a bit more before having a crack at Madrid, but I don't have any doubts that Madrid will know they've been in a game when we eventually cross paths again.
And we can't improve our record against them without playing them again.
One thing that is guaranteed - neither Klopp or the players will be quitting before they've even laced their boots up.

9.) 06 Oct 2023 17:14:27
lads how many games have the new boys played together, give them to Christmas at least, enjoy Santa and all that,
of course they will gel and get to know which ball to play .
we should get Champions League .
sorry, we will get Champions League .

10.) 07 Oct 2023 08:49:02
That is if dark forces don't impede our qualification for the CL.
SO far this season-Bid for Diaz, Enquiries for Alison, Fab and Hendo bought, Salah 'bids.
Ref / red card nightmares and points stolen.
We can't let the persons grind us down.

Just read classic headline - ‘Liverpool handed major injury boost as star set to return for Man Utd clash‘. Shouldn’t that read Man Utd handed major boost? I was excited by the prospect of Naby arriving but now more excited at the prospect of him leaving.

DS15

1.) 03 Mar 2023 12:55:45
Hilarious that I didn't even know Naby was injured in the first place. Its now got to the point where they report the games he's not injured for, rather than the other way round.

2.) 03 Mar 2023 12:55:45

3.) 03 Mar 2023 13:05:07
Klopp did an injury update in his press conference today and he didn’t mention Naby once.

Not really sure what injury rules you out on a wed and you’re fit on a Friday.

I think personally he was dropped from the squad Wed.

4.) 03 Mar 2023 13:10:25
Done well in the O. T game vs utd last year, but no. would not be trusting him in this game. Too important.

5.) 03 Mar 2023 13:31:38
I hope Klopp selects him just for the meltdown on here.

6.) 03 Mar 2023 17:20:25
Naby was injured. In other news, galling is legal in Las Vegas.

7.) 03 Mar 2023 19:34:24
Galling:

causing annoyance or resentment; annoying

Sounds like vegas is the place for you then.

29 years to the day that God first donned the shirt apparently. Hallowed be thy name. What a player! Love how some footballers just ooze natural talent. Luckily we’ve had a few grace Anfield over the years - Barnes, Fowler, Alonso, Gerrard and Thiago being the stand outs in that respect in my opinion. Many more of course.

DS15

1.) 22 Sep 2022 16:00:38
Love fowler.
My favorite player.

2.) 22 Sep 2022 16:37:47
He gets pigeon holed retrospectively as a poacher or 'natural finisher'.

But he had so much more than that in terms of his touch and link up play. Had everything a complete centre forward needed.

3.) 22 Sep 2022 16:58:47
Fowler was special. His ability to find the net, his coolness in front of goal and his overall ability to finish with either foot and with his head, was the stuff of legends. Severely underrated overall, IMO.

4.) 22 Sep 2022 17:54:36
What would a 18-19 year old robbie fowler be worth now?!

5.) 22 Sep 2022 18:50:51
The reason a young me ended up becoming a Liverpool fan, what a player he was.

6.) 22 Sep 2022 20:25:57
Ian Rush was the best ever, also the first line of defence (invented the "press" long before JK came) .

7.) 22 Sep 2022 21:26:19
God would have scored more than Rushie if he was in the team Rushie was in in the 80’s imo.

8.) 23 Sep 2022 04:55:09
You reckon Warmachine?
I don’t think Fowler would have even got in most of the 70s and 80s teams, maybe as a super sub.
The 90s was a bitter period for me, after the glory of the previous 3 decades.

9.) 23 Sep 2022 07:53:54
Rushie was there in the 90's Juicer, up until 96 I think and was part of the dreaded 96 cup final debacle - the one game in the 90's we just had to win. Granted, where was Fowler and the rest of them in that game. None of them turned up. Fowler could score with both feet and his head and was a poacher and could also score with mid and long shots. He had it all and put him in those 70's and 80's teams and he would have hit more than Rushie. The 90's for me was summed up by Souness completely ruining us, Evans bringing some amazing youth through but not being able to sort out the defence (James and Wright were awful) and Houllier bringing in loads of foreign players and mistakenly, stubbornly building a team around Owen. When Fowler left Houlliers team fell to bits.

10.) 23 Sep 2022 09:31:24
Rush was simply brilliant before his escapades in Italy. Never quite the same after he returned. In retrospect, maybe Aldridge should have been kept instead of resigning Rush. As for Fowler, what an absolute waste of an unbelievable talent, could and should have had a similar career to Van Basten.

11.) 23 Sep 2022 10:24:38
So who does Fowler replace in the 80's team? Kenny? Pull the other one. Rush? No chance. Substitute at best.

12.) 23 Sep 2022 10:56:45
Exactly OMM.
Nor does he displace Toshack and Keegan in the previous decade.
Fowler was a good player in a middling period.
Keegan was God.

13.) 23 Sep 2022 11:05:07
Robbie Fowler would get into any team in any era. It's such a shame that he was not able to benefit from modern sports science. He could have broken all records.

He was so rare in that he could use both feet, his shooting accuracy, his aerial prowess, his timing (no backlift on shots, his jumping), his use of his backside to retain the possession and his pace (before his injuries) made him a unicorn.

The closest in style I can think of are Davor Suker and David Villa. He was often likened to Jimmy Greaves but I cannot comment on that as he was before my time.

{Ed001's Note - you forgot about his ability to dribble past players, his deadly free kicks on the edge of the box and his vision and range of passing (which were astonishing at times). He had everything needed but a good team around him.}

14.) 23 Sep 2022 12:52:00
Tough choice Rushie or God. We’re lucky to have had them both.

Rushie was, as has been said, a generation or two ahead in terms of the press and defending from the front, had pace to burn and was a clinical finisher.

God was a natural footballer and world class finisher off both feet and with his head.

Happy to have either, or both, in my team any day of the week and in any of our teams from the 1960s onwards.

For me though aged is my preference, mostly because it never looked for Ed, it was just so natural and also because he did it in teams that weren’t the strongest of Liverpool teams.

15.) 23 Sep 2022 13:18:05
Robbie played with rushie.

Robbies goals were sublime at times, the celebrations were awesome aswell lol.

16.) 23 Sep 2022 16:20:55
Robbie is known as god and is still criminally underrated. Says everything really.

17.) 23 Sep 2022 17:41:00
Rush, for me.

18.) 23 Sep 2022 18:39:51
Rush or fowler? Not sure I'm leaning towards fowler. but my memory of late 70s and 80s aren't what they were. Keegan or toshack or fowler? Fowler all day long.
Kenny above all of them.

19.) 24 Sep 2022 09:09:53
Something tells me Robbie Folwer gets into a team before Craig Johnsone.

20.) 25 Sep 2022 07:06:53
007, and what does Klopp have to do with any of this?

17 Apr 2022 10:55:57
How great it is to be in an FA cup final. I know it’s lost a lot of it’s magic over the years, but these are games that help define our formative years and I for one can’t wait to share the day with my two Liverpool supporting boys. The 4-3 loss to Palace, the Gerrard final, the Gazza free kick and many more, magical moments for a supporter and we are lucky to be experiencing so many of these under Klopp.

DS15

1.) 17 Apr 2022 14:31:22
We are in unchartered waters, but it's an amazing time. One trophy won already, in another trophy final, in the semis for another one and nipping at the heels of the league leaders with every chance of passing them, if the stars align in our favor. But it's going to be very very tough. If Chelsea make it to the Cup final, my sense is that they will be a harder team to beat than ManCity. Villareal is no push over, and Emery has his team playing like giant-killers. And either one of ManCity or Real Madrid, if we go through, is no walk in the park either. And for the League, our hands are tied in that, the best we can do is win every game and hope ManC falter at least once along the way. It can happen.

We will win.

Ed02, I know finances are a no go on here, but would be great to get your insight on why it doesn’t work like that?

I was under the impression from what I read on here at the time we signed Moreno, that the Sevilla fans were happy to be rid of him as they saw him as a liability defensively?

There’s definitely merit in bringing in a free kick specialist, imagine the elation as he’s brought on in the 93rd minute following a foul on the edge of the D, as he steps up, blazing a rocket of a shot…. oh, wait, maybe not such a great idea.

DS15

{Ed025's Note - its not american football DS.. :)
