Hi Eds, just wondering if you know whether Roma are wanting to sign Johnson to a pre-contract in January, as suggested in the Telegraph today?

DP

{Ed002's Note - Glen Johnson is able to negotiate and agree a pre contract with a non-EPL side from January 1 and will certainly be listening to what clubs have to say. There is already known interest from Roma and Besiktas.}

Hi Eds, I've read speculation about Liverpool scouting James Ward-Prowse at Southampton, just wondering if you know of any interest? Many thanks

DP

{Ed002's Note - Sorry, no.}

Hi Eds, Bild say we want to sign a young lad from Wolfsburg called Tolga Cigerci for £2m, just wondered if you knew anything about this, or indeed him as a footballer?

DP

{Ed002's Note - I don't know - I cannot imagine he would be first team material.}

1.) Hertha berlin he plays for seen that rumour going about this morning so watched abit of there game today he looked alryt nothing great decent passing an vision but maybe one to look at in 2-3 years once he gets more 1st team football.

2.) I can't tell if they mean Tolgay Cigerci? I see he plays for Wolfsburg whereas Tolga Cigerci plays for Berlin. Confusing.

3.) Good prospect, if we was interested (I will check) he's got the potential to be a top player, relatively versatile, good passing and vision. Worth a shout imo.

A Spanish media outlet called El Confidencial is saying Atletico are holding out for Costa's full release clause to be paid, which Liverpool have informed his agent Jorge Mendes they will meet. Apparently there has been interest from Roma and Fiorentina but Costa wants to come to England. They also say Atletico will use the money to try and sign Cazorla- ambitious! Just thought this would be of interest- I have no idea if El Confidencial are reliable or whathaveyou!

DP

1.) Well to get him we had to offer the sum that triggers his release clause so that's a given! Less than his release clause and they don't have to sell.

2.) Costa is not good enough. honestly don't think that the lfc will buy this player for so huge amount of money

3.) In response to The Plank, who I fear may have missed the point here: Atletico don't have to sell for less, but they could- in fact there were some reports recently that we were bidding £17m but this article states that would not be enough. It's also worth noting that the article states that Atletico don't have to sell to us even if we meet the value of his release clause (don't know why- because it's only applicable to Spanish clubs maybe?)- but they've said they will sell if we do.

4.) Well el confidencial are usually reliable so there may be some truth to it
dey were spot on during the whole higuian saga

Hi there Eds, a minor issue I know but do you know what the transfer fee was for Sakho? Reports seem to disagree whether it was around the £15m mark or the £18m mark. Cheers! {Ed002's Note - In pounds the raw transfer fee ran to a little over £15.9M.}

DP

1.) For his quality that is kinda cheap

2.) Time will tell

3.) 15m for Sakho is about right for his age and his immense upside. I watch the french ligue a lot an have seen him play many times since he broke into the team in 2010/11 and he is worth it. He has the hunger and determination one needs to succeed.

4.) I believe he will realise that potential and be top class for us.

Nah she's already clarified that she just meant we've been exciting recently owing to our run of just 1 loss in 15 games.

With Liverpool fans, Bolasie is the new Diame. Plays well against us, everyone clamours for his signature, but in reality overall he's really not good enough. A decent player in his own right, yes, but not a player who'll help us achieve what we want to achieve.

Are Liverpool actually aware that they're upsetting people with how they're conducting themselves in these matters? Seems to have been a recurring problem over recent years and you would think it's something they would be very keen to avoid to prevent future problems in negotiations and such.

DP

{Ed002's Note - Sure. They have been made aware on a number of occasions.}

Yeah I don't see what the difference would be between keeping Reina and signing Valdes, would seem to present much the same issues as we had with Reina

I spent last summer in the Philippines and unfortunately I really struggled to find football. I remember trying to find a sports bar in the city of Cebu to watch a Champions League tie but it proved to be a fruitless chase. As Ed001 says, it's all basketball there. Perhaps you'll have better luck than I did tracking down the football, but you'll enjoy your time there regardless, it's a very interesting country!

He didn't say there's nothing in it, just that he hadn't heard anything of it

Skrtel should be nowhere near the captaincy. Just being long-serving is no reason. He's always depended on having a leader next to him just to perform to standard in defence, making him the leader of the whole team is a horrid thought

I remember hearing (possibly on this site even) that it was because once we sealed Champions League football, we decided we could attract better, which led us to Markovic instead

Sterling is contributing more than enough in terms of end product. I think I'm right in saying only 2 players have more goals + assists in the league so far this season. Even the best dribblers in the world- Hazard, Robben et al will fail to see an end product with the majority of what they try, that's just how football works. You can't seriously expect any more otherwise any teams with a good dribbler would be scoring 10 goals a game. I'm sure Sterling is getting all the coaching he needs. I know your post wasn't terribly critical but I think the points you've made haven't been thought through properly.
