Hi. I'm sorry if my memory is a bit sketchy as I'm getting old. Plus I'm in no way defending anyone but can anybody answer my question on drug tests. I'm sure I read somewhere years ago that the premier league don't allow clubs to test their own players. I know the Sakho incident is not league related but surely clubs are allowed to do this. If I remember rightly my source was the daily mirror in about 98 so o could easily be getting things wrong.

Going by what's been said here I'm fairly sure the club could test but it would be relatively expensive to do. However I would say it's like insurance, expensive and a nuisance but can save you big time. I could also be very wrong here but I have a slight recollection of one of the eds mentioning contracts in relation to this, maybe players don't like being tested ha.

Apparently the Derby has been rearranged for the Wednesday before the fa cup semi finals. I was confident of a victory before but I'm more confident now.

Nice one for jinxing us now 😉.

2.) 15 Mar 2016 19:27:21
Does that not mean weakened Everton side or am I missing something?

3.) 15 Mar 2016 20:42:50
It doesn't matter what team Everton play it's weak anyway.

The post about the real Ronaldo the other day was brilliant and Ed01 summed him up perfectly. I know it's not Liverpool related but a very under rated player at around the same time I think was Batistuta. Unbelievable power and penalty box knowledge. My favourite of all time tho was Maradona. Just so strong and skilfull and had a temper that made Suarez look like Mrs Mangle. I think the only reason he's not considered the greatest of all time is because the English media have an agenda with him.

loved to watch batigol play, such a great striker.

2.) 21 Feb 2016 16:44:59
I think we almost signed batistuta at one point?

3.) 21 Feb 2016 20:13:40
Ed can u not do a thing were it says who has agreed or disagreed with ppls posts. So many people disagreeing. Happened with Ronaldo other day and now with batigol, were people being so negative. Unless your all young and can't remember the greats of the game.

4.) 21 Feb 2016 21:26:28
@ Bosco

Roy Evans wanted him to partner Fowler, whether it reached the point of "almost signing" him is another matter.

5.) 21 Feb 2016 22:39:36
When Roy Keane gave the ball away to Batistuta in Euro game his reaction said it all, didn't even chase he knew it was a goal.

6.) 21 Feb 2016 22:47:19
Des Walker was asked about facing Batistuta, " has he ever got past you" no said Des he just shoots and usually scores before I get near him. Probably one of the most clinical efficient strikers I've ever seen.

Hi all. I was wondering what people made of Harry Redknapps comments about talented British managers not getting chances at top clubs. It seemed to me that he was implying that it was due to to many foreign managers being hired. I would think that the likes of himself, Allardyce, Bruce and a few other British managers who seem to go from one club to another with very little success are as much a hindrance to younger managers getting top jobs.

Exactly, what chance has a young british coach got the chance too prove himself. When the same old faces that have failed time and time again e.g bruce, harry redknapp etc. get given jobs. Like ed01 said football is the only profession were idiots can walk into another job despite failing elsewere. England in general is sooo behind other countries in terms of coaching it has now become a joke.

2.) 17 Oct 2015 18:27:36
Someone give 'Arry a scouting job or something because I'm fed up of hearing his hypocritical nonsense.
Moyes was given the Man Utd job and made a complete hash of it. McLaren the England job and now the barcodes.

If British managers were better at their jobs they'd get a chance.

3.) 17 Oct 2015 18:31:20
Maybe Harry can start a club with all the money he has hidden away from fooling the govt. and give chances to British managers?

4.) 17 Oct 2015 18:50:09
Top flight management positions have gone the same way as the players.
How many premier league clubs buy players from lower leagues (or for that matter promote youth players) . How many LFC greats were either purchased from smaller clubs or came through our youth system? How many of our Great managers had zero experience? But if we went and brought a player from Championship many would be horrified (look how signing of Ings went down) .
It's the same with managers, I'm sure there are some good managers in lower divisions but they won't get a chance with top flight clubs. who will go abroad to find a "successful" manager. Pellegrini for example, I'm not convinced he's a good manager. but when you can spend money like he can he doesn't necessarily need to be that good, I'm sure if you put a good young English manager in charge of City they would do just as well.
Agree with Bruce. seems to get job after job but rarely does well. Rodgers was a young manager, didn't work out of course.

5.) 17 Oct 2015 18:54:37
I'm going to copy and paste the same thing so you boys understand

He was asked questions, he answered them. He's there to make money. Just like you have all been eager to hear snippets of geerards newest autobiography. He didn't make anything up though did he. We were all made aware of what was going on by Macca. Does that mean macca is a pr*ck because he let all us know Ancelotti was first choice? NO
Get over it.

6.) 17 Oct 2015 18:55:56
Harry is asked questions he answers them, he sells papers, column inches he's paid. Same as Carragher for the mail, savage for the mirror. This is all getting so boring now.

7.) 17 Oct 2015 19:01:16
Harry is now becoming boring.

8.) 17 Oct 2015 19:05:00
It makes me laugh. Doesn't matter what nationality you are, if your better than another choice your getting the job.

9.) 17 Oct 2015 19:08:50
Here's a little snippet from some articles I found

there are ''2,769 English coaches holding Uefa's B, A and Pro badges, its top qualifications. Spain has produced 23,995, Italy 29,420, Germany 34,970 and France 17,588.''

. ''The basic FA Level 1 course is £150, while Level 2 rises to £340. Then comes a steep increase. The standard cost of a UEFA "B" License -- a prerequisite to work at a professional club's academy -- is £990, and it can cost as much as £2,450. In Germany, the cost is €430; in Spain it is €1,100.''

''if you're white and actually want to be a coach you're then insulted by the fact you're told to pay the full price, but an ethnic minority get a 33% discount . ''

10.) 17 Oct 2015 19:37:17
I don't know what he has said in his paper column or indeed if he still has one as I wouldn't buy that newspaper but today on the BT panel he wasn't asked a question. The panel were simply talking about pressing and it seemed to irritate him and he made the foreign managers comment. He just seemed to not want to be there today.

There is an excellent biography called William Garbutt the grand father of Italian football. Steer clear of Diego Maradonas autobiography tho. Very disappointing.

Was Steve Nicol considered a left back? He was brilliant in what ever position he played.
