Hi eds
E Bola In Portugal have been adamant that liverpool are after joao Mario.
Reporting today that we're going in with a second bid.
You guys have said no interest, no reliable journalist has even mentioned him this summer, so why do these people tarnish there reps if it isn't true? Or isit?

Coutinho7

{Ed002's Note - This has all been dealt with already. Sporting priced Joao Mario out of a move to Napoli last summer and unless they look to price him more realistically nobody will be calling. There is interest from Atletico who have had an offer rejected, five clubs in England, Inter and PSG (who have had negotiations but price is the sticking point). Inter has shown serious interest and the player has made no secret of his desire to play in Italy with them. However, any move to Inter is difficult and they would need the Italian FA to approve the plan of the owners to route the transfer through Jiangsu Suning and then a loan - this they think avoids an FFP issue but may be viewed as an abuse and with the transfer window closed nothing can now happen this summer. Chelsea see the price as far too high and the player stating he wants to join Inter is enough for them to step away for now. PSG also see the price as too high and have backed away from negotiations. Liverpool did not make a firm offer but enquired and discussed, through a third party, the sort of figure they thought would be acceptable - but they took their money and spent it elsewhere. His "agent" would like him to move - and to be honest that is simply because of the money.}

1.) 04 Aug 2016 19:26:30
Quality response ed. nice one.

2.) 04 Aug 2016 20:00:36
I think he has a release clause of 43 million and they won't settle for anything less so we can put this one to bed.

3.) 04 Aug 2016 20:32:44
Just bricked myself!

Ebola in Portugal - and then read the rest.

04 Feb 2016 21:02:49
Flanagan hasn't been picked for the EL squad. I find that kinda odd. But smith Tex and caulker has been.

Coutinho7

1.) 04 Feb 2016 21:19:06
Because I don`t think the lad can play two games a week well not this year with him getting back to fitness.

2.) 05 Feb 2016 00:56:00
He's not fit enough to play too many games. Hell get his chance in other competitions.

3.) 04 Feb 2016 23:38:19
Crookieee you're presuming he will be starting in the league games. Surely it would've made sense to put him in the squad.
If Clyne gets injured now who plays right back in Europe? And don't say bloody Randall.

4.) 05 Feb 2016 07:46:07
What's wrong with Randall natural? He hasn't let us down yet.

5.) 05 Feb 2016 08:18:14
If we had to, I'd play Milner at RB. Has the energy, has played there in games for previous clubs and it gets him away from the front area.

6.) 05 Feb 2016 12:22:30
150k a week for a RB. Now that's financial management.

01 Feb 2016 11:23:06
according to Sport Mediaset in Italy Liverpool have offered 19m for Icardi in the last hour.

Coutinho7

1.) 01 Feb 2016 11:26:06
I can't see that being the case. Good player but can't see us getting him for that price if we are interested.

2.) 01 Feb 2016 11:37:10
Now THAT would be a real coup.

3.) 01 Feb 2016 11:40:05
Inter did not sell him for a much higher fee to Chelsea in the summer, Y would they sell him now?

{Ed001's Note - he was first choice and happy then. Now he is on the bench and unhappy. Still don't see any chance of it happening, not with Mancini's job being so precarious.}

4.) 01 Feb 2016 11:52:58
We could throw Balotelli in with the deal, Mancini would be up for that 😄.

5.) 01 Feb 2016 12:33:04
Surely that would mean paying them to take him Ron ;)

6.) 03 Feb 2016 08:59:09
Any truth in the rumour that the Icardi deal didn't progress because was left too late for them to sort out filling the gap he'd leave?

Ed1 it must be your birthday!
Loads of Gary medel to Liverpool Rumours today.

Coutinho7

{Ed001's Note - fingers crossed.}

1.) 18 Jul 2016 18:23:36
Is he really that good ed001? Would he be that helpful to us when Lucas can't get a minute?

{Ed001's Note - he was a couple of years ago, yes. He is not the same type of player as Lucas. He is more of a playmaker from deep with a bite.}

2.) 18 Jul 2016 18:32:53
I haven't seen him play since he was at Cardiff. Wished we had signed him at the time. But idk about now.

3.) 18 Jul 2016 18:32:53

5.) 18 Jul 2016 18:46:57
Gary medel would be a brilliant player for us. Great positional sense and would provide excellent protection for our back 4. This little fella would be a great signing if we are interested. Our midfield would certainly improve and as a team we'd be defensively a lot more solid.
I hope we do show interest instead of a terrible possible signing I'm mentioning no names about.

6.) 18 Jul 2016 19:12:31
I don't want us to sign him, ed001 has been drooling over him for years, what if we sign him and he turns out to be a flop for us? It would break poor ed001s heart lol.

7.) 18 Jul 2016 19:23:23
Honestly players like that is what we need right now in the centre of the park. We have no one that's defencive minded but can contribute going forward as well. Lucas is an all out defencive midfielder and when he's on form we are that much better. I think Lucas injury problems have just made him unsustainable, because as soon as he comes back from an injury he's well off form, and it's a regular issue. I like Lucas and wouldn't mind if he stayed but if we can get someone in better I think it would be better to move on the likes of Allen and Lucas for both parties. We need to improve.

8.) 18 Jul 2016 20:02:42
Medel is a consistent performer and had a good Copa America.

9.) 18 Jul 2016 20:08:04
He would be an excellent signing and just what we need. He would provide the bite as ed suggests but he has the quality to also dictate the play. He would allow us to hold a higher line knowing he can cover and allow our attackers to be on the front foot. He also has the quality to provide a through pass in the final third etc.

Him and a left back would complete the puzzle and so long as we keep hold of sturridge, coutinho and co i would be very optimistic for next season indeed.

However, i just don't believe it because we just never buy the players we should.

10.) 18 Jul 2016 23:51:41
Eds reds where has the medal rumours come from - reliable I hope - agree with ed1 - wouldve luved him years ago!

Does anyone know how to get the liverpool fixtures onto your iPhone calendar?
Usually there's a link on liverpoolfc. com fixtures/ results page but they've changed the website to a mobile site and the option to add fixtures to your calendar isn't there anymore.
Google isn't being very helpful.
Cheers.

1.) 16 Jul 2016 17:00:25
i believe u can use the 'request desktop site' on your browser so it returns to the desktop site. hope this helps.

2.) 16 Jul 2016 18:20:36
I use the FootballCal app:

goo.gl/cgqsJV

It is free to download and then you pay to but the calendars you want. I can't remember the costs but about £1.50 to buy the LFC calendar. All fixtures go into your calendar and automatically update as fixtures get moved later in the season. Team sheet added when released an hour before kick-off and you can look back at earlier fixtures and see scores, scorers, line-ups etc.

I have no affiliation but used it last season for the first time and have already bought the 16/ 17 calendar.

3.) 17 Jul 2016 02:33:58
The link for the Outlook cal has an iCal subscription if that helps.

Ed 1
What do u think of our CMs for next season? I was hoping we'd sign someone to play along side Can, Dahoud has been mentioned but not looking likely.
Do u think we need someone or do u think Hendo and Milner are good enough in that role?

Coutinho7

{Ed001's Note - not Milner, but Hendo, Branagan, Stewart, Lucas and Grujic should be plenty in there.}

1.) 29 Jun 2016 13:52:19
Chirivella.

2.) 29 Jun 2016 14:11:46
Henderson is miles better than Can right now. So much so that when he plays without Henderson, Can looks like a shadow of the player he is with the captain alongside him. So if either gets replaced, it isn't Hendo!

And as for Dahoud, he is not even in the same league as Hendo yet. Potential is there to be class, but right now be is just a good player. He is so physically weak though, and he only gets away with it due to the fact he plays in a 3 man central midfield. He'd get stuffed in a a 2 man pair, just like Chirivella did against Swansea. You can't have a physically incapable player in a 2 man midfield because there is so much ground to cover, they will inevitably be forced into multiple 50/ 50 challenges both on the ground and in the air. You cannot carry a player in the middle when they lose virtually all of those duels. Hence why average players like Cork, Ayew and Britton absolutely demolished Chirivella, who is a good little player when given the required midfield support. Dahoud has different qualities to Pedro, but they are of identical builds. You can over come size with aggression or clever positioning but neither of these young lads have that.

People just see Dahoud had good stats and get over excited. It's pretty clear not many have actually watched him because if they had, they wouldn't all be calling for him to play as part of a 2 man pivot in front of the defence. A role he is completely untested in, and not built for. It's absolute madness and everything wrong with this clubs past transfer business. We signed good players without any thought as to how we would fit them in to a team that suited everyone, and ultimately made a lot of the guys who've joined look very average.

Moreno is a good young wing back. But he is not a full back. Benteke is a good target man. But he won't ever link play or press. Firmino, Lallana and Coutinho are all good players. But if you shoehorn them all into the same team there is no variation to our play and we become predictable. Clyne is a solid right back. But if you ask him to play as an attacking right back he has no end product and doesn't know how to time his forward runs.

It goes on and on. You can't just sign Dahoud because he has been good in a 3 man midfield as the most attacking player of the trio, and then make him play in a 2 man midfield and put far more defensive responsibility on him.

You need to define a way of playing and then build a team around that style. You can't just buy good individuals who suit different styles and chuck them in together. That is why Rodgers failed. He had no idea what his "philosophy" actually was for all but 6 months of his tenure, and for that reason couldn't get the team playing well as a unit.

Football is only as complicated as you make it. 11 players and a manager all pulling in the same direction is what gets results. Not individuals playing how they want and a weak manager at the helm picking his favourites. In fact, there is no better example of that than the England national side, or Brenda's Liverpool!

3.) 29 Jun 2016 14:34:21
Gruijic is a def-mid so i think he will play alongside Can next season plus he is supposed to be a very good def-mid, i have not seen him play so can't say for sure but he is tall and strong so we should win a lot of headers in midfield, were as in the past we have had small mids who never won many headers.

4.) 29 Jun 2016 15:41:04
Mbrock, Grujic is not a defensive midfielder by any stretch of imagination. More like a box to box midfielder who likes to get forward a bit like Yaya Toure.

5.) 29 Jun 2016 15:43:49
Can and Hendo in a 4-2-3-1 will be the backbone of the side, who will play if they're rested or injured? I'd guess Grujic or Brannagan against the weaker sides until they build experience, and Stewart or Lucas against the better sides where we need to be more defensively solid. I really hope Milner doesn't play in a 2 man midfield but he's useful on the right of a midfield 3 IMO.

6.) 29 Jun 2016 16:20:18
Dahoud in not weak my friend. watched him in more than ten games, not a finished product but strong on legs, good shielding of the ball, and so resistant on pressing. He is that kind of player that has every touch different and you fall in love. That guy rarely loses ball, and know what to do with the ball and knows who the guy in best possition is and that is job of midfielder. not yet better than hendo but will be in 2 years. Than we will say we have Henderson who always plays it safe we could have signed this little genious. He is so similar to Modric. Hendo is good player but just that, good English midfielder. Dahoud attracts interest from Guardiola, Bayern, Barca. would hendo ever play there? i think not. don't get me wrong Hendo is one of our best player but to slate Dahoud,20 yo guy playing at highest level of football is disrespect!

7.) 29 Jun 2016 19:46:24
Mandzo, where did I slate him? If we signed him to play in midfield with Hendo and Can I'd be all for it. But everyone on here seems to think he would come in as a replacement.

Got to disagree with you though on the weak aspect of his game. He has no upper body strength and very little aggression. He is intelligent in that he puts his body between the ball and the opposition making it difficult to dispossess him. But he loses lots of 50/ 50 challenges because he just isn't tough enough - yet.

Give him a couple of years to develop and he will be stronger and easily good enough to play in a 2 man midfield. Right now though, unless he is signed to play alongside Hendo and Can, he is no better than what we have.

Not to mention the fact, is Dahoud better than Brannagan? Because he has attracted interest from the likes of Barcelona! Why spend £20m on a 20 year old technically gifted central midfielder, when we have young Brannagan?

8.) 29 Jun 2016 21:26:48
MK : No offense to Brannagan but Dahoud is much better.

If we can get him he can become one of the best players at Liverpool.

9.) 29 Jun 2016 15:09:34
@MBrock MK has told us that he is not. Actually, he seems to play further forward.

Hi eds not seen this posted so I'm wondering if you have any info at who klopp might go for now gotze has said he's staying at bayern.
Obviously klopp wants another attack minded player as he went for Texeira and gotze.

Cheers.

Coutinho7

{Ed002's Note - I would ignore what has been said.}

1.) 24 May 2016 19:02:59
It's the infamous smokescreen 😉.

2.) 24 May 2016 18:44:39
It's not gotze wanting to leave anyway us it. Thought it was bayern wanting rid of him.

06 May 2016 15:43:43
Hi eds and reds.
I've been reading the rules for qualifying for the CL on UEFA. com but for some reason I'm confused.
It says on there that the winner of the Europa league will have to play CL qualifiers.
But the reporter klopp was speaking to after the game said we go straight into the group stages.
Can someone clear this up it's driving me nuts.
Cheers.

Coutinho7

1.) 06 May 2016 16:07:22
The winner of the Europa league qualifies for the qualifying round. If the winner of the Champions League has already qualified for the group stages via league position then the group spot for the winners of the Champions league is passed to the winner of Europa league. I. e. Atletico and Real are both qualified for the group stages through league position so the winner of the Europa League this year gets into the group stages.

{Ed002's Note - Correct.}

2.) 07 May 2016 02:16:34
Great info, Sava.

3.) 06 May 2016 17:10:17
Which also means 1, 2, 3 and EL winners get into group stage and the 4th placed team go through Qualifiers.

Ed1 what was the new contract about? I really don't understand that at all. He is seriously the wirst GK in the prem. his kicking even when he's not under pressure never finds it's man.
The team needs a serious overhaul, only guys who should play is clyne coutinho firminho sturridge and can maybe.

Most players are making a good 3-10k a week in there teens, plus endorsements when they get older.
They make a lot more then just there weekly salary. Performance related bonuses ect.
He may turn down the deal but he reminds me of willian pool to spurs oh cmgejsea are inferring that! I'll go there. No loyalty.

The summer will answer our question.
The club spends money which is good but we've blamed our recent signings on Rodgers and the committee
We'll be able to tell in the summer who is running the club regarding transfers because if we sign more mediocre and don't go in for top talent then we know it's not klopp.

The difference is Alex tex is 100% suited to our game, he has lighting pace and a great goal record from playing as a AM not a striker.
There was loads of us on here before we signed benteke saying he's just not going to suit our style and why are we waisting 32.5m when we all new ings would suit us better and he was free.
The frustration now is we can all see that Alex tex would be really great In a klopp team, suit us perfectly but we're not willing to pay up, but we paid up for benteke which is a joke to be honest.
Klopp is suffering from Rodgers' mistakes.
