Eds I hope you can forgive me asking on a Liverpool page I don't know what page to ask on.

Do you know if any big teams are interested in Antonio Marin of dinamo Zagreb. He looks another very good prospect like ante coric before him.

Apologise if not, cheers.

{Ed002's Note - You need the European pages, but I am not aware of any interested sides - and he is only a child still.}

1.) 10 Jan 2019 08:11:23
Haha, have you been playing FM? ;) He's a great talent in there.

04 Jan 2019 17:45:06
Does anyone know if we are interested in timo Werner. And also if we are considering moving for him at all. Eds?

{Ed002's Note - There is a lot of interest in TW from Spain, Italy and Germany but RBL would like him to sign a new deal, else they will look to sell him in the summer. Liverpool are not one of the sides who have approached RBL at this time - everyone who has approached them have been turned away for now. But perhaps if Liverpool were to make changes to the forward line in the summer and had the money available, then he might be someone they look to.}

1.) 04 Jan 2019 18:31:35
To be honest, I wouldn't expect any incomings during the January transfer window. This window Liverpool will concentrate on moving players that Klopp deems surplus to requirements, i. e. Solanke and Clyne. These two barely started any matches last season, let alone this season. They do not need to be replaced, we have adequate replacements already at the club, i. e. Origi, Sturridge for Solanke and Fabinho, Milner and Ki-Jana Hoever for Clyne.

In the summer transfer window I suspect we will reanalyse certain positions, i. e. back up keeper, possible right full back, back up left back. if no fringe or youth players are able to make the step up by then.

No need to panic. The players currently at our disposal have got us in this position, 4 points ahead of the previous champions. Now is not the time to change what has clearly been effective. Adding a new player, regardless of price and quality, could have a negative impact on the squad, i. e. settling in period, player replaced being affected by the new addition and having a detrimental effect on other players.

I say we go with what we have, sell or loan out the fringe players that Klopp does not believe will aid our title charge and leave it at that. Happy with the season so far and hoping, by May, we will be celebrating a trophy by the end of it.

Fingers Crossed.

2.) 04 Jan 2019 19:45:48
There ya go everyone, we can stop with the Werner rumours and posts now.

3.) 04 Jan 2019 20:03:13
It was mentioned in the sharkopod that RBL desperately wanted rid of jean-kevin Augustin, wondered why that was Ed as he was highly rated at one stage I think?

{Ed002's Note - He has been trouble and they want him gone - I am not going to go in to detail but one incident was particularly nasty and involved another player. Rangnick has supported him further than he should have.}

4.) 04 Jan 2019 20:24:10
Oh fair enough mate had no idea. Stay well clear then? Thanks for your info as always!

5.) 05 Jan 2019 14:04:11
The summer will probably be one of consolidation addressing the squad rather than the first team.

I still think we haven't got the number 10 position wholly sorted as good as Shaqiri has been at times.

We need back ups for both right and left back positions, and probably a goal keeper. We probably need one central midfielder if Lallana and Milner both go, and I guess a striker if both Origi and Sturridge leave.

I'm of the view that we should always look to find players better than we've got for the first team, but as our first team is now very strong it's an a struggle suggesting anyone we could realistically afford as we won't get the likes of Mbappe etc

Anyone got any thoughts?

12 Aug 2018 11:51:54
I no we'd all love to see Liverpool at full tilt today but the most important thing is the 3 points. I'd take a 1- 0 win today just to get points on the board let city be the pace setters and be the team who everyone focuses on and Chase down while we quietly go about our business. Get some momentum and a winning mentality before we start putting on a show.

1.) 12 Aug 2018 15:23:25
I mean, 3 points and a 4-0 is fun as well.

2.) 12 Aug 2018 15:28:57
Or not then haha.

3.) 12 Aug 2018 15:57:13
Forget the score Milly's free kick being stopped by ale House jack wilsheres sack was epic.

4.) 12 Aug 2018 16:34:05
It was his only contribution but you have to give it to Wilshere, it was a ballsy move.

5.) 12 Aug 2018 17:35:38
You could say the freekick was nuts.

6.) 12 Aug 2018 18:29:59
Or you could say that it was cracking.

7.) 12 Aug 2018 20:08:50
Iron Man 🤣 I nominate that for post of the week 👍.

8.) 12 Aug 2018 20:24:22
So Wilshere got sacked?

9.) 12 Aug 2018 20:34:55
he racked up some points for that move for sure.

10.) 13 Aug 2018 06:15:51
It took some spunk to make that challenge!

11.) 13 Aug 2018 07:56:12
That challenge was bollocks.

12.) 13 Aug 2018 16:56:36
At least someone put him to the test -icles.

13.) 14 Aug 2018 21:39:02
Wilshere can become a farmer now. he's got two acres.

14.) 14 Aug 2018 22:22:12
But why did the ref stop the game at that point? In his defence I suppose when they made the rule about stopping the game for head injuries they didn’t say which head!

15.) 15 Aug 2018 08:04:44
We'll let Deeney decide whether wilshere lacks the cojones after putting in that block.

Has the Barcelona match review been posted. I've scrolled for it and used the search but can't find anything.

{Ed001's Note - you need to check on our football news site to find it, rather than just scrolling on here. Here is the direct link to just the review: Liverpool v Barca match review

03 May 2019 13:42:05
Ed001 I noticed in your match review you talked about how poor lenglet and pique are. So I was wondering why you think we didn't win the game. I thought our forwards was below par and will need to be extremely ruthless to turn this tie around.

{Ed001's Note - because we missed our chances.}

01 May 2019 16:15:18
Saw a poster ask what positions we need to strengthen in the summer. But here is my take

Alisson. Trent, Gomez, VVD, Robertson, Fabinho, Henderson, keita, Bobby, Salah, Mane are good enough to win the league and champions league. Lovren, gini, ox, Milner Are good enough to come in for the others or even start ahead of them.

Adam Lewis, Brewster, Are the main 2 that will probably be promoted into the 1st team.

I think a back up keeper. Full back. And an attacker who can play accros the front 3 is what we need this summer.

Pepe reina. Julian Brandt and a full back I'm not sure on?

1.) 01 May 2019 16:41:27
Seems reasonable to me. I don't expect a large outlay on signings, certainly no where near last seasons level. There will be more outs than ins IMO.

As you say Lewis, Brewster, Ox will all be like new signings. We have a lot of players on loan and still playing for the 23's that will need to be given a chance or moved on for the good of the club and the player.

2.) 01 May 2019 17:32:33
Klopp has already said people should forget about some wide financial outlay regarding transfers for next season. That said, we have a very good core group of 15/ 16 players. What we need now is to build a squad by signing competition for the starters, not backup's. Competition breeds better performers. Adding back-ups does not do that.

We need equal quality at both FB's, maybe one more in midfield (say AM like Brandt) esp. since Ox will be back fully fit next season, another CB should Matip and / or Lovren leave, and a versatile forward who can cover all front three positions as well as a 2nd choice GK who can come in when required and help the younger GK's at the club.
That would be my shopping list this summer even tho, it is easier said than done.

3.) 01 May 2019 18:13:42
We've got a good team. But I want a better one. I'm with Shanks, " I want a team that's invincible so they have to send a team down from bloody Mars to beat us" !

4.) 01 May 2019 19:00:54
Dont see the point in signing back up players, the chance ro do that shoyld be given to the youth. a player should only be signed with the idea of improving the 1st 11.

5.) 01 May 2019 19:17:35
Gini is good enough for cover? that's a ridiculous statement. He has been our most consistent midfielder this season and probably our best midfielder. Its him or milly for most consistent and they are both back up players?
And the ox is good enough for cover! The guy is brilliant.

I agree with the signings we need to make. A rb as lewis will replace moreno as back up lb. A better back up keeper, saying that, most back up keepers are poor, at migs level. And someone who can play in the hole and across the front three.

6.) 01 May 2019 20:59:10
If we can get dybala im fine with it. im sure klopp can get him working. but most importantly whoever klopp wants let's get him.

7.) 01 May 2019 22:37:01
We only need 11 players for the first 8 months of the season, that’s Klopp’s philosophy.
Wait until Jan and get a whole load of 6 month loans 👍.

8.) 02 May 2019 05:43:36
City will probably walk away with 3 trophies this season as they have quality in depth. Chelsea were the same back in the 2,000s they practically had two teams.

9.) 02 May 2019 09:42:57
The number of players registered is controlled Drogie, we can’t use that as an excuse.

I’d be fascinated if someone could go through our squad and give a proportion of minutes played in the league for us.
Doesn’t matter how many players are in your squad if you never play them.

11.) 02 May 2019 14:14:00
I'm with you there, fish face.

Is Pepe Reina available this summer? I'd have him back, definitely and hopefully he can help Kelleher develop over time too.

Brandt looks like a likely target given our past interest and certainly fills the brief of an attacker who can challenge any of the front 3.

In terms of full backs, I'd love us to go for Sessegnon and/ or Wan Bissaka, although WB may be difficult. Ed002 mentioned Kala, I think?

I think LB is covered (at least over time) but Lewis, so a RB to share the load with TAA, and allow him to develop over time into a DCM would be a good buy.

Sessengnon provides flexibility and 'mouldability' given his age - he can cover LB and LW to be part of the front 3 if required.

In Sessegnon, Origi, Brandt and Brewster, I think we have gooc cover for the front 3, and all are players much closer to the start of their careers.

There's part of me that would like a No 10 - like Fekir - but that would be greedy, especially with Shaq at the club (nappy rash notwithstanding) .

So my (realistic) wish list would be Reina, Brandt, Sessegnon and Wan Bissaka/ Kala/ another specialist RB.

26 Apr 2019 16:38:49
Klopp won't sell lovren. Just seen an interview he did with soccer am and he said lovren speaks fluently in loads of languages. He's the translator 😂

Not a dig at lovren it's just banter. Sad I have to point that out tbh with some on here.

1.) 26 Apr 2019 17:19:28
You ment every word of that you horrible person😜.

25 Apr 2019 17:07:27
Talk of Matip is a good back up player and can't expect 4 world class cbs at the club.

For some it's not about having that. Matip consistently makes mistakes and some of us feel it's not unreasonable to expect a player who is NOT in his 1st season or young enough to call it a setting in period would rather give the opportunity to a young lad who could be forgiven for errors and expected to improve with experience Matip to me alt is at his best and I think the younger players could do just as good a job as him but with room to improve.

1.) 25 Apr 2019 18:11:33
I fully agree with you, Codtown. Matip arrived here 3 seasons ago and he has NOT improved in his overall game. He STILL lacks the very things many of us say he was lacking then as in poor concentration, wilting under pressure, lack of a mean streak, positional awareness etc.

I can agree if it was say Joe Gomez, who lacked all these and was in his first season as that I can forgive cos the potential just like TAA who lacks some of the things I mentioned, is a kid and will learn. That cannot be said of Matip so why should we continue to persist with a CB who at 27 yrs old (the same age as VVD) continues to lack these qualities?

2.) 25 Apr 2019 18:18:31
Have you seen the younger players play? Are they ready to step up to the first team? Do you think that the manager who see's these players every day is the best person to decide this?

3.) 25 Apr 2019 18:30:19
I’m no fan of Matip, there has to be better options out there considering his wages, talk of him getting another contract would only really bother me though if he was our first or second choice CB. With him staying makes me wonder if Lovren will be going though.

4.) 25 Apr 2019 18:52:32
It's not even about mistakes for me. I actually think ability wise he could be one of the best 4th choice centre backs in Europe.

For me, it is his attitude. I can't grow to like a player who strides forward like Patrick Viera, hits a dodgy pass akin to that of Lee Cattermole, and then tracks back slower than Paul Pogba. He is lazy in all the wrong moments. If you charge forwards and lose possession you should bust your balls to get back in and attone for your error. His lackadaisical strolling just screams "I don't care". I can't see past it when I analyse his ability.

Everything else wrong with his game can be forgiven due to his role in the squad, but I will never fully back someone who doesn't give 100% in the great red shirt.

Perhaps I'm just being harsh because I think everyone should work as hard as Bobby and Hendo.

5.) 25 Apr 2019 19:22:27
And milly and robertson and mane and salah and literally every other player we have.

6.) 25 Apr 2019 19:36:35
I think matip has improved. We haven't lost a game when he has played. We also haven't conceded many goals. Not saying he is amazing or anything but he can't be THAT bad. If he was really poor we would have conceded loads of goals, we havent. He isn't first choice but is a good back up player.

7.) 25 Apr 2019 19:54:49
I don't Klopp would tolerate and they certainly wouldn't be selected for the past lot of weeks if one of his players wasn't giving 100%.

8.) 25 Apr 2019 20:07:03
experienced, seems like a good character in the team, has done a job the past few months. Rather have him in the 3rd / 4th choice role if he wants it compared to a youth who would need to play regularly.

9.) 25 Apr 2019 20:28:29
these constant threads slagging off one of our players is pathetic. He has played as well as he can for 5 months and Klopp keeps picking him. He has not cost us any points.

Matip is playing to his level - what more can he do? He has done far better than I expected. I am sure he could have cried off like Lovern when he had a knock or wasn't feeling well, but no he has turned up every week.

As for Firmino and Hendo they have both played below their expected level this season. 12 goals for our centre forward is no where near enough. Firmino has been several levels below last seasons form. Hendo has played well for a few games on the bounce granted but no way could anyone say he has had a really good season. Where was Hendo v Man U or Everton when we really needed our captain? Hendo has started playing when it is probably all over we needed him earlier. Gini has been far better and that says an awful lot.

Leave Matip alone or get Lovren out of his pit, or tell Klopp to start playing Gomez. If we win the league I for one will say Matip played his part as much as most of our other players.

10.) 25 Apr 2019 20:53:21
Spot on, MK. Here's another one for you. I live in Brussels and we get the PL games here in French. I speak fluent French. I lived and studied in France in my youth so no issues with the language here. Do you know what the one Belgian commentator calls Matip? He calls him The Relaxed One. Even he observes in most games that Matip plays like he couldn't be arsed, lazy and unbothered. I have no issues with that if he could actually defend. The worst thing is that he is crap and can't defend for the most part, which makes things even worse.

11.) 25 Apr 2019 22:15:43
Couldn't be arsed, lazy unbothered I assume you are talking about Lovren.

At least Matip is playing and helping us win points were is Lovren. Klopp prefers Matip so suck it up.

12.) 25 Apr 2019 23:02:55
Yet Klopp still chooses Matip over Lovren, who has been available recently, Gomez is available too. If Matip was that crap, lazy and unbothered then surely Klopp would play Lovren or rush Gomez back.

Klopp obviously sees more in Matip than you do. Constantly posting on here that Matip is crap is out of order, he is 3rd or 4th choice and has improved.
Gary Neville also voted him MOTM against Cardiff, I am not saying he was but he clearly is not crap.

13.) 26 Apr 2019 00:12:08
MK nailed it, every time he ambles forward I'm screaming because he is never going to sprint back to do his one job, Gomez, Lovern all day long are better defenders.

14.) 26 Apr 2019 08:06:57
Mark08 spot on comment mate. Klopp brought him here and keeps picking him so that’s good enough for me.

15.) 26 Apr 2019 11:12:45
Just imagine if Matip hadn’t played all season and it cancelled out all the goals conceded and games lost because of him. We would be sitting 2nd place on on 88 points 1 point behind City.

16.) 26 Apr 2019 11:45:50
If it was VVD being named The Relaxed One we would all nod our collective heads and murmur about how cool and unrushed he is on the ball. You can't use that moniker as a stick to beat Matip with just because you don't rate him. Im sure that commentator didn't mean it in the negative sense.

17.) 26 Apr 2019 12:47:32
Why doesn't the commentator just call him Matip?

18.) 26 Apr 2019 16:29:37
I think lovren is the better defender but that matip and VVD have struck up some sort of partnership that is working.

Next year gomez will be back in there with lovren as third choice, matip 4th.

19.) 26 Apr 2019 18:16:24
Matip? Lazy? Are you kidding? I don’t think you could say that about any of our players bar maybe Shaqiri and we all know what’s happened to him since he stopped working.
Klopp will analyse our performances in minute detail after game and if he thought Matip was lazy he simply wouldn’t play him.
Sorry MK but I think you’re just making stuff up to suit your agenda here.

20.) 26 Apr 2019 18:18:24
Think we all agree he's not good enough in the long term but why even bring this up and have a pop at the lad? He's tried his best in difficult circumstances and has given his all. Why have a go at him now for no reason whatsoever especially after him receiving a mom recently, where you just bored and wanted to have a go at someone?

21.) 26 Apr 2019 23:57:19
Again he might not be good enough for the fans behind the keyboard but i don’t think Klopp counts on our opinions for his actual team selection. Although I’m pretty sure some fans believe he does and actually know better.

Ed002 can I ask if there is something liverpool are doing seriously wrong to your knowledge.

I only ask because you was critical of liverpool low balling offers in the past and trying to reduce prices for players they wanted to buy. And recently you have been critical of liverpool now over paying for players and agents. Not meaning to be rude in any way. It does seem that either you have a real dislike for the club and that's understandable with the trolls you get on here or you know something we don't that perhaps is not a good look for us.

{Ed002's Note - Obviously Liverpool have tapped up players which is illegal - it has cost them very dear. They paid £45M in agent fees - nearly double the next highest in the Premier League. They had to make unexpected payments to two Premier League clubs in the past year and had to make a substantial payment to a third party. None of this stuff is good. This is simply how it is, but I have no dislike for the club at all.}

Personally I don't think it is, yet. I think in 18 months it will be with Joe trent getting more experience and possibly rhian getting himself in the conversation more. With the young team we have could possibly lead to a Barcelona type dominance of English and European football.

Good read however 👍.

How is buying a player to replace a young player deemed not good enough to make it trying to buy the league?

I thought transfers was not only allowed but encouraged in football and I'm sure I've seen other teams doing it lol.
