Terrible performance in midfield and defence. To be fair Moreno and TAA played well considering. That is the worse, least creative and undedicated midfield three I've ever seen in a Liverpool shirt. No movement between the lines and Gini and Hendo ran around like headless chicken with no purpose. It was a gutless performance and I am also bewildered over the substitutions. Gini should have come off, Solanke should have been on instead of Origi and I would have liked to see Grujic come on for Henderson. The substitutions were not only late but also wrong. Full backs played well and he takes one off when we have a midfielder looking like this is day one of preseason. Not even going to mention zonal marking as my opinions were expressed last year on our inability to do it correctly. In a game where our best player has just handed in a request to leave I expected far more heart and passion to prove they can step up to the plate. I'm disappointed to say the least. And a question for ED001 what is it about zonal marking that we struggle with? Surely we have addressed it in the training ground? Do you feel it is poor coaching or simply players inability to pick it up. Thankyou.

And a clueless manager who fails to recognise the inadequacies of the defenders. Definitely BR 2.0 imo. He will be gone soon enough trophyless at LFC just like BR and maybe FSG may actually have the b***s to bring in a manager who actually sees it as it is and does not have to fake to get fans on their side.

Hendo and Can in the same team never works. Too similar. Sort defence out Klopp - splash the cash on VVD PLEASE!

CMK, The performance was not the best but some perspective is needed here. Our boys were not good in the first half, at all. We seemed to be forcing things a bit too much and did not settle down and play our game which made us very easy to defend. The only time we played pass-move footie was for Mane's goal which was sublime in it's build up and execution. In the second half, we upped the tempo and create a penalty and scored a 3rd with again, brilliant pass-move football. Also, We created enough chances to finish them off but missed them and we were always going to be vulnerable when that happens. So credit to Klopp and the team for upping their output on the day.
Now to the defensive issues. The first goal? The less said the better. Second goal was just us being dragged out of position and tho Okaka was offside but not interfering with play. Since the ball was then crossed to him, should he not have been flagged for offside at that time, Ed? Third goal was just a calamity. I really don't know what to say. It was a poor set-piece YET we manage to screw it up big time. So in the end, we got what we deserved.
Ed, please help me. What type of set-piece defensive system can we employ to stop opposition players from scoring goals unchallenged? We do the zonal marking, the man marking, the mix of both and till this day after 200m spent on CB's, we are still where we are. Cheers!

Thanks, Ed. Can't stand Pulis BUT heaven knows his teams are well-drilled and he spends countless hours on the training pitch working on dogged defending and has leaders all over the pitch who he makes accountable and if you can't do the job, you get canned. This is something we do not have nor do and to me, VVD will not help here.

Let's get behind the boys today! Anyone else feel like with all this going on with Phil, Bobby really has a chance to shine and prove he can become the main man this year. Really big season for him imo and am ready to get behind all the people wanting to put on the red shirt. At the end of the day it's football and players have ambition, not happy with the timing of Phil's request but Ed has been saying for over a year he's been looking for a move to Barca, so I don't believe for one second yesterday is the first Klopp heard about it. Leaves us tight on time to replace him but if you look statistically the games with and without Phil the difference isn't monumental. If we pull our fingers out and get deals that are looking unlikely in Keita and VVD I cannot see how we wouldn't be in a better position with them two and not Phil. Anyway it's game day, let's see if this positivity still flows through me after the game!

So to summarise this transfer window:
Liverpool want VVD, VVD wants to join Liverpool but Saints don't want to sell.
Liverpool want Keita, Keita wants to join Liverpool but RB Leipzig don't want to sell.
Barca want Countinho, Coutinho wants Barcelona but Liverpool don't want to sell.
Everything nice and simple. Now anyone want to give some odds on the only one changing being the bottom one?

Honestly if we had already signed VVD and Keita then I would be a bit angry at Phil for wanting the move. But let's be realistic, he has a chance to play with the greatest player of all time at a team competing to win every competition they're in. We have not matched his ambition to win things in this window and along side the fans he can see this. All I can say is I wish him the best of luck and hope like macca said we wrap up the deals for VVD and Keita. Even if we have to overpay with crazy money now for the pair then we must or it will be another year of disappointment. Every time we're one or two players off properly competing for trophys our best player leaves and we fail to replace them with quality. I just pray we don't make the same mistakes again, fan happiness and actually competing for things is more important than money burning a hole. We need to get a fee that is crazy and reinvest every penny and more in 2-3 quality players.

Ed did we not want Keita before Coutinho handed in a request? therefore could we maybe want both, would sure add the energy our midfield needs. And correct me if im wrong but did the nice president not say "release clauses don't mean much in football today, but if a 40 million euro bid was to be made he will be allowed to leave"? At least that's what multiple reports are saying. Thanks.

Now the question I have to ask is Macca that Mr Kelly or Mr Khan from twitter because both of them also said this this morning lol. I know he's not but they must share the same sources who hand them off info. Anyway thanks for the update macca, even if it doesn't happen we appreciate you passing on what you know and fully understand things can change fast in football.

Naby keita liked his friends post in instagram of when which translated to English congratulated him on his next contract. Hence the rumours of him signing a new contract, possibly by next contact he was referring to Liverpool.

So Southampton and RB Leipzig have said not for sale, so we should move on, yet we have said Coutinho isn't for sale and he is off because money talks? Get a grip Marv your negative posts everyday are beyond a joke and so contradicting. Were a selling club and Southampton are not? We don't know what is going to happen in the window but at least make sense when you post something.

I remember seeing a clip of the man u bus getting off, all players did the usual and got inside as fast as possible apart from Mata. He noticed a disabled fan in the background and went over the fence past all the fans and took a good few mins to talk to him and take pictures, he really is a kind, genuine person.

Most of us still think he will be sold. You're not going to sell your best players without making it atleast look like you're putting up a fight.
