I see the Benteke rmours are rife again.Supposedly 30M pus Lambert. Have Ed´s heard anything on this ?

CR

{Ed002's Note - No, sorry.}

Why would Liverpool be in for Benteke? A strong tall striker doesn't really fit into Brendan's model.

According to Di Marzio who is supposedly in the know re Italian football, we have only enquired about Kovacic and not made an offer.

I would ted to agree with Ed1 that we could find the money for the right man. Personally I am not convinced by what I have seen of Osimhenn. Only 21 and has had a good season so could be anything but not a big money signing IMO. First thing I noticed was his poor first touch. That would let him down in the EPL and I would rather see Brewster get his chance.

I would be quite happy to see Gini replaced with Thiago Alcantara but doubt it will happen.

Money is the answer IMO. Chelsea and City sign young players from all over the world paying them and their clubs much more than LFC can offer. They farm a lot of them out to develop elsewhere. After Brexit it might be a bit more difficult to get them all work permits but I am sure they will be able to place them with " friendly" clubs in Europe until they were ready.

CR

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea and Manchester City do not pay youngsters more than anyone else. Liverpool’s wage bill is more than both Manchester City and Chelsea. Where do you get this stuff?}

A cheeky bid is what people do on property shows. :-) Waste of time in football.

Gomez may be a bit young to be a Virgil type CB but he is still a very good CB and I do not think we will be looking to replace him.

Do not agree about that so called " bust up". That is behind them Biggest problem has been Bobbys poor form. You can get away with flitting in and out of games if you are still popping in a few goals but not other wise. Bobby has shown a few moments of his class but has looked like what we would have called a luxury player years ago. If he returns to form and the front 3 click again we have no problems but having no decent option when one of them needs a a break
is a problem.
Another who seems to spend a lot of time missing in games IMO is Gini. Again he has produced some magic but not often enough.
Will Brewster and Jones be good enough to fill the voids? I do not know but hopefully they will as I doubt we will be making any big signings.

CR

{Ed001's Note - seriously? Do you actually know what a luxury player is?}

As did Walker. Maybe we are pampering our guys a bit more than City. Hope it does not cost us but frankly the way we have played in the friendlies we should have enough for a winning start.

I think the only problem is they will be better prepared than us.The bulk of their teams will be same as last season and will have played together for a while whereas I think our team will be quite different (certainly needs to be) and will take longer to blend together.
If we get good results it will give our new players a lot of confidence and help them to blend and we should have a decent season. If we get bad results maybe Rodgers will get the sack. Always two sides to everything.
