Re the red card : It's a red all day long according to the rule book. Question is should mane had done any different? He's a really quick player just seen the ball loop over the mancs defenders, ederson just started to come out. He thinks he has time to take the ball down and round the keeper and any other keeper he would've done just that . Problem is ederson is very quick in rushing out quicker than he expected. If mane was slightly quicker or ederson was slightly slower its 1-1.if mane was slightly slower or ederson quicker its a good clearance . It was just unfortunate.

At the end of the day, it was a red. Fair enough. The question is therefore one of consistency, since it is reasonable and fair to say that it was a reckless challenge which endangered and opponent, albeit one without intent, why the referee didn't see fit to issue a card for an equally reckless challenge which endangered an opponent earlier in the game by Otamendi on Salah, which was two footed, had no intent to ply the ball and was a wild lunge out of control.

The thing to learn from this is for Mane to use his head for a head-height ball. Raising your foot for a ball that high is dangerous pla to begin with. A player getting a face full of studs if you miss the ball is a red card. Had he jumped for the ball and tried to head it, regardless of the outcome, he is never getting sent off. That is the lesson to be learnt.

He had to go for that ball, and let's be honest - the red wasn't given because it was by the rulebook a red card offence. It was given because of result of the challenge. There has been at least one of those challenges a week that is barely looked at by the ref - another one yesterday by Richie (which also hit the player in the head) was only given a yellow. I had no problem with it being given a red and no problem with Mane for going for it- my issue is yet again with the inconsistency of refs decisions and the complete lack of introspection by refs and refs union in officiating games.

Credit to Gary Neville and Robbie Savage who both said it wasnt a Red card, they played the game as PROFESSIONALS so i respect there views.

What it has done though is set a PRECEDENT for any similar situations.

{Ed001's Note - they aren't referees and both are about as bright as a 2w light bulb that has just blown. Only a total idiot would hold them up as examples of intelligent thought. Credit my arse they were both idiots on the pitch and do not know the laws of the game.}

007, that was hilarious. Frankly holding up a failed manager (could not win a game at Valencia to save his life) and the most average PL player ever as beacons of intelligence and credibility, tells us a lot more about you than it does about them cos well, at least we know who they are and thanks to your referring to their opinion to make a pathetic point, we now know who you are.

Looks like paulinho is on his way to Barcelona, I have no idea where this leaves couts. I guess its possible they could sign both.

{Ed002's Note - It, like everything else in the world is nothing whatsoever to do with Coutinho.}

There has to be some outgoings within Barcelona I suspect if Paulinho, Coutinho/ Dembele comes in. With Rakitic, Andre Gomes, Rafina, Denis Suarez, Arda Turan and Sergi Roberto all looking for a place in that midfield?

{Ed002's Note - Yes - they have a list of surplus players - it have been dealt with.}

I read this site everyday and just wanted to throw something out there. I may be wrong but after watching us consistently fall apart against "weaker" opposition I can't help but think, why. Personally I feel we lack self belief, a lot of our attacking players look hesitant and nervous making them wasteful coupled with klopps risky tactics is causing us harm. We need someone with the same self belief as zlatan or Balotelli. Someone who believes their own quality (rightly or wrongly) . Sturridge is this kind of player. He always backs himself and plays positively abd if he sees a shot he'll take it. Which leads me into the most disappointing thing about klopp. Don't get me wrong he's an awesome guy and great manager but he is stubborn and plays favorites.

I would to hear your Views EDS and reds ignoring signing world class / wonderkid players ( we all want a brandt or aubamyang) how would you improve LFC?

{Ed002's Note - I have explained that Brandt is a possibility for Liverpool. I listed last year the players that were avaialble and Liverpool should have pushed hard to sign - it is a bit early for me to do that again this year.}

When will you be able to ed? Really looking forward to it.

{Ed002's Note - In a while.}

I agree mk. It's a shame klopp has given up on him as he would be a great asset against these weaker teams we struggle against . He's too good for the bench so let's cash in whilst we can.

At the start of the season I thought we would struggle without an obvious goal scoring striker. a fluid front line of Couts, Lallana, mane, bobby et all is exciting but no substitute to a recognised striker.
