Hi Ed's 002. Thank you for the updated review on our transfer targets it's much appreciated. I wanted to guauge your opinion on Slimani. He's a player i have kept an eye on for a while as I think he is exactly what we need. He has good movement, heads well, good hold up play and he is always working hard pressing when he his side hasn't got the ball. He is basically the complete opposite of Benteke and balotelli. My questions to you Ed's 002 and 001 is how much do you think it would take for sporting to sell Slimani as he is adored by the fans and how profound is our interest in the player. This guy is a late bloomer at 27 but I think he will surprise a few people if he came to the premiership. Love the guys attitude on the pitch very passionate and partisan.

{Ed002's Note - Deja vu but Sporting were asking close to €30M and have rejected a €17M offer from an English side out of hand. So perhaps €25M would work.

I have no reliable measure of "profoundness" of interest I am afraid.}

1.) 29 Jan 2016 13:33:29
Thanks Ed's 002. I appreciate the reply especially as I know how you don't like talking about figures. 25 million euro is a very fair price in the current market for a player of silmanis caliber. I wish we had gone for him instead of balotelli and then we would have avoided the Benteke debacle. I really don't think we will buy him tho as we have a plethora of attacking options at the club regardless of their fit or not. Silmani will prove to be an astute signing for someone. If I was Mclaren, Allardyce, Pulis, or even Ranieri I would be on the phone to Sulmanis agent because this guy guarantees you goals.

{Ed002's Note - I agree that Liverpool don't have any shortage of strikers right now, putting aside a couple of injuries only one of which is long-term. As I said there is interest from elsewhere and another side has had a bid turned down so if Liverpool are to do anything now would be the time.}

2.) 29 Jan 2016 14:05:31
Do you think Slimani would be a shrewd purchase for a premiership club Ed's 002, I think his game is ideal for England. if Liverpool did buy him do you think that would signal the end of bentekes career at Liverpool?

{Ed002's Note - Always a tough question - if he can maintain anything like the form he is showing now then yes.}

3.) 29 Jan 2016 14:45:02
On the subject of too many strikers, do you think benteke will have any suitors in the summer? He's a good player, but doesn't fit us, and klopp clearly isn't favouring him, seems a waste of wages and I'm sure we could get a fair fee for him as he's still young?

{Ed002's Note - Sure I think there will be some interest. If the club want him to move on they will ask his agent to find a new club.}

4.) 29 Jan 2016 14:46:40
Much obliged 002.

5.) 29 Jan 2016 16:08:43
Slimani has looked useful for last few years tbf.

6.) 29 Jan 2016 16:37:13
I never like buying African players - some amazing talents but the African cup can literally destroy seasons if they are really good players and really key. And if they are neither then why buy them at all? That's the biggest shame of no winter break to me - that the African Nations becomes so destructive to some teams in the league over our busiest time.

7.) 29 Jan 2016 20:13:09
Was that evertons €18m bid ed.

8.) 29 Jan 2016 20:13:09
Was that evertons €18m bid ed.

{Ed002's Note - €17M and yes, Everton.}

I am so pleased with the new signings Klipperty has made (apart from GW I hope I'm proved wrong) No more square pegs in round holes as per the Rogers era we are actually buying and selling sensibly. If Mane stays injury free I think he will be our player of the season really liked him at Southampton and uber pleased he's ours. Karius will be a revelation i saw him play in the Bundesliga a few times last season and he was quietly effective, I suppose that's how you want your keepers to be. And whose to say Grujic can't be our Deli Ali? Coupled with the awesome talent we already have Firminho, Sturridge, Couts etc we could easily better our top 8 finish from last season! I predict we will finish 4th and win a cup. let's start by beating the plastics later. Allez Le Rouge!

1.) 27 Jul 2016 21:51:00
I agree looks like good business. Don't know much about karius but trust klopps judgment. I thought we should have signed mane when saints got him and I think GW will prove to be a good signing too Newcastle was the wrong team for him but he could thrive at Liverpool maybe not as a Week in week out starter but he is a good as any player we have had in the past to make a decent impact off the bench and a good replacement for any injuries we will pick up through the season.

2.) 27 Jul 2016 22:30:46
i have followed the dutch league for quite some time and i can tell you. that boy is special. how he performed at Newcastle? I don't know. but what i know someone doesn't lose talent in months. Where does he fit in our team? I don't know what klopp plans. but if klopp sees him as an attacking cm to replace either can or hendo then he is spot on. Neither can nor hendo can offer better then GW when it comes to producing "goods" in the final third.

3.) 27 Jul 2016 23:58:02
Can was one of our best players last season! Does anybody actually watch Liverpool playing or just come on here in the hope we are selling our entire team and buying a full squad of players?

4.) 28 Jul 2016 01:33:20
I thought it was off already. The amount of creativity some have to turn things into points to bash these players are really admiring.

Hey everyone

I haven't posted for 12 days because it's taken me that long to get over losing against Sevilla. Anyway onwards and upwards.

Weighing in on the FSG debate I think they've been responsible and honorable owners. Yes they've made mistakes, quite a few actually but they were new to Football so that was to be expected, but their intentions have always been transparent. FSG have spent astonishing amounts of money to make us competitive and if it's true they are selling up I wish them well and hope the new owners buy into the Liverpool way and allow us to compete with the big boys.

In other news I truly hope we sign Dahoud. That kid is a superstar in the making. A Dahoud, Can midfield would be a thing of beauty. None of our current midfielders are comfortable setting up play from deep and doing the nitty gritty. Milner is awful at it, Hendo and Can, Grujic, Allen are organically more offensive so Dahoud would be ideal and he has a pass on him and can score a goal. If indeed Zielenski is going elsewhere then it gives me hope that our pursuit of Dahoud will be fruitful because the kids the real deal and will only get better.

1.) 30 May 2016 19:44:08
Organically? Can you lettuce all know what that means?

2.) 30 May 2016 21:43:56
Hey what about lucas and stewaet!? Anyways ye, our midfield is really imbalanced. And dahoud would bring some quality for sure.

3.) 30 May 2016 23:46:00
Very good MK Scouser. Made me chuckle.

A few games into this season I was at a party @ DC10 in Ibiza when I got a text from my brother in law to say Brendan Rogers had been sacked. If you had told me at that moment that we'd be one game away from a champions league spot and Jurgen Klopp would be our General, I would have cried with disbelief. We're the healthiest we've been as a football club for a very long time (since Rafa) and we're on the verge of something special with this crazy German guy. Buckle up were about to claim our perch again.

1.) 14 May 2016 20:35:21
DC10 huh? Bet that was a brilliant night even before you got the good news ;-)

Bootlelfc stop being so judgemental my friend. Eds 001 got himself into a bit of bother and the Liverpool rumors family helped him out. Anyone can go from solvent to impoverished overnight, so have some compassion. You might find yourself in a similar situation one day and need the help of friends, family the universe. I'm in daily contact with Eds 001 and I can tell you he would never ask for a handout. He's a proud man with honorable values. It was Benny's Ballers idea (bless him) and not eds 001 to set up the fund So let's support our own and not condemn.

1.) 11 May 2016 22:43:00
Totally agree mate, also maybe life is about helping others out sometimes, if Bootle tried it maybe he might feel a little better about himself?

07 May 2016 07:03:30
Is the Villareal manager really being linked to Everton? If this comes to fruition I think Klopp will get a 6 match ban for gouging his eyes out if he tries celebrating a goal against us.

1.) 07 May 2016 08:15:37
They are dreaming of Jose and Pelligreni ATM.

Can you elaborate on why Karius in your opinion is a better option than Horn please Eds 002?

{Ed002's Note - Karius is better thought of, has lived in England for three years and has not said that he is not interested in a move to Liverpool.}

This is a perfect scenario were we should make one of our infamous lowball offers. This is a high risk signing and a low transfer fee may offset that risk. There must be a reason Munich don't want him and I don't believe it's because he's a whinger. I feel its because they think he's a dud and want to get rid. If he was playing 'edge of your seat' football I suspect they would put up with his antics. For me he's injury prone but IF he recaptures his form very good. Saying that I'd have Gotze over lallana and would fully support the sale of lallana for this situation to happen.

Why wouldn't the 5th best keeper in the world come to us? We managed to procure one of the top 5 managers in the world didn't we? We are Liverpool FC Fruitba. that should be enough!

Good luck to your boy Jay. A goal and an assist that's better than Benteke! I'm sure the academy coaches take into consideration nerves at that age and will judge accordingly! Nevertheless you must be so proud?

'Finally, I honestly believe that, GK notwithstanding, our current squad, with a full pre-season with Klopp and potentially only domestic success to concentrate on can go a long way next season. Certainly top 4 if not a decent title tilt'

With all due respect zeddicus the above statement truly has to be one of the most moronic things I've ever read on this site and as you know we have our fair share of village idiots on here.
