Just to clarify, teams can still sign unattached players before August 31st right? and Eds, are there any free agents that you rate highly at the moment that haven't been signed yet.

{Ed002's Note - . Clubs can sign players who are free agents year round IF they were free agents during the previous transfer window. So if Liverpool were to release Markova from his contract he cannot sign for a new club until the new year. If however Liverpool wanted to sign a player who is already out of contract - say after Mignolet leaves on August 27 - the they can take Ross Turnbull on board.}

1.) 09 Aug 2018 21:04:05
Ed, has Migs got a move confirmed then or are you being a cheeky teaser?

{Ed002's Note - He will leave.}

2.) 10 Aug 2018 00:02:07
That’s means there is still time to sign John Terry and James Collins.

3.) 10 Aug 2018 06:10:00
Or for Ben Arfa and Pontus Wernbloom ;)

03 Aug 2018 12:22:47
Hi Eds,

If we were to offload both Karius and Mignolet before the deadline, which goalkeepers are we looking at to backup Alisson?

{Ed002's Note - I really don't know right now. The club look like they might want to use the youngsters. Bad news for their careers.}

1.) 03 Aug 2018 13:05:26
Grabara'll be grand as back up, going to be a top top goalie.

2.) 03 Aug 2018 13:55:18
sure we said that about ward BE, for me it should be a keeper towards the end of their careers so the young ones can get experience.

a few cup games a year won't benefit them IMO.

3.) 03 Aug 2018 14:13:38
If Alisson picked the number 13 shirt then Karius is staying i believe.
Or Mignolet stays because of lack of offers suitable for him.

4.) 03 Aug 2018 15:00:50
I don't agree with the "it's bad for their careers" comment.
If we do have the 2 youngsters as back up they will both be working closely with the first team gaining valuable knowledge of what it takes to play at the highest level and training each day with an international keeper.
They will I'm sure still be given time to play games for the u23s and occasional first team games as ward did . On the back of Liverpool's development of Ward he has just got himself a nice £12 million move to Leicester and is set for life. I'm sure both of the young keepers would settle for that right now.

5.) 03 Aug 2018 16:40:05
Good point Molby. I do feel like we've messed Ward around a little but he's ended up with a decent move and LFC seem to have pocketed a bit of cash. not a bad deal all round if you ask me.

6.) 03 Aug 2018 21:55:47
Very good point MB. Any youngster sticking around when we have signed the worlds most expensive keeper must surely of gone through the thought process of ‘can I challenge this guy? ’. If the answer is no then best to move on. Fair play to those who decide to stay, and if it doesn’t work, then hold head high with the knowledge they tried.

7.) 03 Aug 2018 23:14:18
Nothing beats actual playing time week in, week out which the youngsters could get on loan to another team. Obviously they could learn from Alisson during training etc but it’s not the same.

8.) 04 Aug 2018 12:32:37
A year or two training with one of the best keepers in the world will do someone who can play into late 30s no harm.
Alison was a number 2 just 2 seasons ago.

31 Jan 2018 19:20:39
Eds, any chance of any player arriving tonight? Demirbay would be great.

{Ed001's Note - yes.}

1.) 31 Jan 2018 19:25:47
Come on Ed, please spill the beans.

{Ed001's Note - don't get too excited, Liverpool have a tendency to let us down after all. It is more about outs tonight.}

2.) 31 Jan 2018 19:26:48
Don’t tease people ed lol
Even when we have made deadline day deals when was the last time it went so late in the day with no news and we managed to get somebody signed up?
Remember the yarmolenko fiasco lol.

{Ed001's Note - Ayre's finest hour that was.}

3.) 31 Jan 2018 19:27:28
Jesus Ed1 you've got me more excited now mate, going to crack open a beer and chill out lol.

4.) 31 Jan 2018 19:30:06
Ed001 is it nabby or is there someone else in the offing.

{Ed001's Note - I wouldn't expect Keita mate. They never got a replacement in that I am aware of anyway, could have missed it like as I have been so busy.}

5.) 31 Jan 2018 19:31:29
Is Demirbay that player Ed001?

{Ed001's Note - yes mate. Though it is Liverpool so don't get excited.}

6.) 31 Jan 2018 19:36:33
Interesting who can we sign now.

7.) 31 Jan 2018 19:38:37
Who Ed1? Or am I reading too much onto your yes?

8.) 31 Jan 2018 19:38:49
Any chance of a player you would be pleased to see join us arriving tonight Ed 001?

{Ed001's Note - I don't know.}

9.) 31 Jan 2018 19:39:16
Evening ed001.

Showing my ignorance here.

Demirbay? Any good and would he be a first team starter? What positron?!

{Ed001's Note - not seen him play that I can remember sorry.}

10.) 31 Jan 2018 19:40:48
who is the player Ed001?

11.) 31 Jan 2018 19:42:39
U winding us up edo1.

12.) 31 Jan 2018 19:44:10
Thanks for the reply Ed001. Hopefully they can surprise us.

13.) 31 Jan 2018 19:49:37
So is it true that his representatives are in liverpool?

{Ed001's Note - I don't know where his reps are but they do not need to be in Liverpool to complete a deal.}

14.) 31 Jan 2018 19:51:34
Ed literally just said the player was Karim Demirbay.

So why are people asking who it is?

15.) 31 Jan 2018 20:03:32
Cheers ed, appreciated mate.

Played well against us in the Champs League qualifiers.

Fingers crossed.

16.) 31 Jan 2018 20:07:38
they would have asked before he confirmed who it was.

17.) 31 Jan 2018 20:09:17
LFC-S MANGO. Because mate prople ask and then the reply go's up before some asking the question. If that makes sense.

Thank ed for sharing mate. let's see.

18.) 31 Jan 2018 20:09:27
Was it not Konoplyanka Ayre tried negotiating on deadline day? Or have i got him and Yarmolenko mixed up for all these years lol?

{Ed001's Note - no I think you are right, Yarmolenko is the one Everton were always linked with. My mistake.}

19.) 31 Jan 2018 20:12:39
But has the club made contact with hoffeinheim? what would the fee be around since the 32 million euro release clause is activated in the summer.

20.) 31 Jan 2018 20:22:08
Trust me on this, it won't happen in this window at least!

I'm near 100% sure on this, I heard about this going on in the background weeks and months ago, but not for this window unless it's a loan to buy which is of course even more unlikely, sorry.

21.) 31 Jan 2018 20:31:40
And u didn’t care to mention it Kev nice of u mate.

22.) 31 Jan 2018 20:32:52
Leipzig announced Lookman on loan from Everton. Maybe in Naby's place (or wishful thinking)?

23.) 31 Jan 2018 20:40:57
hasnt the german window closed.

24.) 31 Jan 2018 20:51:12
They can still sell but not buy. This one will go to the wire by the looks of it. Hopefully we can get it over the line. Looked decent in the Champions League Qualifiers.

25.) 31 Jan 2018 20:53:52
The German window hasn't closed Mr RED, I don't think lol. Ed🤔.

26.) 31 Jan 2018 21:01:30
Klopp literally said there is no chance of signings.

27.) 31 Jan 2018 21:01:49
I did mention this back in early January mate, if you use the search function and search for Demerbay (had the wrong spelling at the time, apologies about that), the whole conversation should come up mate.

28.) 31 Jan 2018 21:06:07
Kev did tell us though, Adam? 🤔

09 Jan 2018 15:41:08
"A mate of mine who lives in Germany has told me that we had scouts watching Karim Demerbay (spelling is probably wrong) of Hoffenheim very recently.

He is a Turkish-German lad who has turned out for Germany a few times. He's very technical and has wicked left footed free kicks. Not blessed with pace but can dribble well and a pretty powerful left foot.

I remember some of his indirect free kicks caused us problems (as well as our overly high line) in the Champions League play offs.

Not sure if this is a Lallana long term replacement being looked at if true, doubt it's to replace Coutinho but we'll see. "

OIrish Kev 1.

29.) 31 Jan 2018 21:10:47
Don’t know much about him to be honest, had a look on wiki and it’s got a great story of when he was handed a fantastic punishment by the German FA for sexist comments.

30.) 31 Jan 2018 21:14:40
I just meant today mate I do remember the talk at the time mate I think he’d be a good signing we do lack a left footer in the midfield.

31.) 31 Jan 2018 21:26:11
A few of those guys around still sadly Mikey yeah.
Also see the most recent Sevilla manager's profile/ backstory, although he still denies it to this day (can't remember his name, sorry, he was in charge until around November/ December 2017).

MK, Thanks for searching that out for me, much appreciated mate - top man as always!

Adam, no worries mate, I still don't see this happening, probably not even in the summer, he's not a bad player but not necessarily good enough for what we would be hoping for.
Reminds me of Lallana personally but not as good.

32.) 31 Jan 2018 21:36:01
Really Kev I kinda see him as a xabi Alonso type of player mate just my thoughts having seen abut of him think he’d do alryt for us def a Emre replacement .

33.) 31 Jan 2018 21:45:58
I doubt we can get the deal done at this time?

{Ed001's Note - and me. Early nights all round I think. I hope anyway as I am knackered!}

34.) 31 Jan 2018 21:53:40
Is there a serious interest or is it one of those if it happens situations?

35.) 31 Jan 2018 21:54:01
You could well be right Adam, I honestly haven't seen enough of him mate to be 100% sure.

He just reminded me of Lallana when I did see him for some reason, might have been the Heineken :)

36.) 01 Feb 2018 03:48:10
From what I was told earlier in the month, it is/ was serious interest but a few things had to occur first for it to happen in this window.

06 Aug 2017 03:36:56
Are we still interested in Inaki Williams? tormented Dejan and the defense last night.

{Ed001's Note - yes, but he is not moving.}

1.) 06 Aug 2017 06:23:39
That really ain't no good enough reason, for us not to chase him for the next couple of weeks. Seems we tend to target the unavailable players this time around.

2.) 06 Aug 2017 09:41:34
If you chased every forward who gave Lovren the run around the squad would have about 20'000 forwards.

3.) 06 Aug 2017 10:39:50
Good luck chasing him, he looks pretty swift to me.

09 Jul 2017 05:03:55
Hi Eds,

Have we shown any interest in Marvin Plattenhardt? LB from Hertha Berlin.

{Ed001's Note - no idea sorry.}

1.) 09 Jul 2017 07:18:15
I rate him, can take a mean free-kick, too!

2.) 09 Jul 2017 11:07:54
Spent most of the season injured didn't he?

{Ed002's Note - Therew has been absolutely no interest from Liverpool in the player.}

17 Aug 2018 23:12:13
Marchisio. Get him in for a year Klopp.

1.) 18 Aug 2018 05:14:57
How would he get any game time?

2.) 18 Aug 2018 23:28:24
To play in place of who, OP?

09 Aug 2018 10:19:39
Any news on a potential CB coming in? Klopp must surely see the lack of depth at the position. I like Gomez, and Matip was good for a season, but they cannot keep fit long enough to be solid backups.

1.) 09 Aug 2018 10:40:44
We have 5 CBs already you can’t bring more in without selling first. Also the lack of any links to a CB probably tells a story. I know there were spurious Vida stories but I can’t see a CB coming in or any player to be fair, I’m pretty sure we’re done.

2.) 09 Aug 2018 10:55:02
If the club could've sold Matip and Klavan, then bringing in a CB would've been the thing to do. Not criticising anyone at the club, but that's what I would have done.
And while still sounding like Oliver Twist, I would like to see a Number 10. I don't see how Henderson-Fabinho helps to break teams that park the bus. But that's just me.

3.) 09 Aug 2018 11:05:48
I understand that Den, but going into a season with only 2 fit CB's worrying imo. Klavan is a good backup and lovren has improved immensely over the last season. Matip is made of glass, and gomez always seems to be out injured. CB if not this season should be a priority for the next. Jonathan Tah or Koulibaly would be perfect.

4.) 09 Aug 2018 11:55:43
Realtofel we don’t have to play Henderson and Fabinho in every game, we could play one of
Ings Origi and Ojo haven’t gone yet
Brewster to come back
Ox to come back
That’s 12 options for the games we play a front 4 with a 10 and 5 of them can play the 10 role.

5.) 09 Aug 2018 12:00:39
Don't u trust that kid named Philips as good CB?
I believe he get chance he will take it for sure.

6.) 09 Aug 2018 12:32:43
There's Philips and Masterson has been on the fringes of the first team for 2 seasons now. Our CB situation is not as bad as many make it sound.

08 Aug 2018 19:01:08
Fekir to Chelsea : (.

1.) 08 Aug 2018 19:12:07
If you have any information other than twitter nonsense please share it.

2.) 08 Aug 2018 19:12:09
You pays your money, you take your chance!

3.) 08 Aug 2018 19:18:00
If he goes there, gutted we didn't sign him but we've had a great transfer window so good luck to him.

4.) 08 Aug 2018 19:27:55
Ffs gutted. Thought he might end up there. Chelsea won't try and change the fee like we did.

5.) 08 Aug 2018 19:42:10
Best of luck to him if he signs for Chelsea. We're in no position to complain about any transfers this summer.

6.) 08 Aug 2018 19:44:11
And he’ll be crocked inside 2 months and they’ll have a very expensive injured player. Then we’ll all say thank Fowler we didn’t sign him.

7.) 08 Aug 2018 20:00:21
Is Fekir really worth the money Lyon want? I never heard of him until a couple of months back and that was on this page.

{Ed002's Note - emir is really well known.}

8.) 08 Aug 2018 20:06:08
A replacement for Hazard perhaps?

9.) 08 Aug 2018 20:32:04
I think he’s over-rated. No great loss 👍.

10.) 08 Aug 2018 21:02:22
He's always been overrated. Good player but not game changing.

That's why he wasn't worth the injury worry risk. If it was Messi or mbappe, then you would say yeah he's that good it's worth it but fekir is good nothing special.

We have keita and maybe even a studge for that role behind firmino.

And maybe big Shaq who when watching him in tjayrole and fekir, I only see pluses for Shaq stronger, faster, more prem equipped, no risk, can score goals outside and inside the box

I'm excited.

11.) 08 Aug 2018 21:02:18
We can't lose what we never had.

12.) 08 Aug 2018 21:15:53
Absolutely kloppsboss when your looking for something a bit different not to many players would have scored that overhead kick in pre season.

13.) 09 Aug 2018 00:22:33
Typical, Fekir a world-beater when you were close to signing him, now he's just not that good indeed. Reminds me of Alisson and how he never impressed you lot after you put 7 past him and his WC performances, the day you sign him he becomes the saviour.

{Ed0333's Note - That’s football fans for ya mate.

14.) 09 Aug 2018 02:26:18
You're right yo some extent. It's more that the ones who really liked him are just being quiet and the people who were unsure are posting now. There are some fence jumpers though.

Liverpool knocking 5 past someone doesn't mean they are a bad keeper.

We knocked 4 past cech
5 past eddison
5 past alisson
4 past Hart
4 past shmicheal, (I think)

Are attackers are amazing and can score against anyone.

Oh 3 past nuuer (sorry about the spelling)

I had doubts about fekir until someone told me how many goal he scored, 20 something, 23 I think, from the midfield. That is impressive. Almost as much as 40 odd from the wing. I we will sign him.

15.) 09 Aug 2018 04:18:48
Actually SarriBall you’ll find I’ve not really changed my opinion of him at all 🤝.

16.) 09 Aug 2018 08:13:29
No mate nor me. I've been against it from day one due to his injury worries.

He's a good player and I would be happy to have him on board but not to upset if he isn't.

He's good. That's cool.

07 Aug 2018 16:00:09
Chelsea apparently close to signing fekir, any chance we return for him Eds?

{Ed002's Note - I cannot answe “any chance” questions.}

1.) 07 Aug 2018 16:30:28
Why not just refuse to post anymore questions on fekir until January that would make it easier on Ed's and readers who have to travel through these mundane posts.

2.) 07 Aug 2018 18:06:13
I dunno. This is a transfer site and fekir was a big target. Jeez, we even saw him in his blood red liverpool shirt. (suited him) I think it's fair to talk about, as he may join a rival. Don't mean bombard the Eds with sweeping suggestions and questions.

Imagine, they pay the 60mil, probably means hazard is off. They don't really need fekir as it stands. They must be making preparations for hazard departure. Madrid HAVE to sign a rw.

Then say fekir does one of his "turns on a sixpence" and does his knee. Out for 8 months. Goodbye fekir, hello barkley. Could be good for us.

The last thing we want is another injury struck player on high, high wages. Talking of that, I hope Danny Sturridge does get a look in this year. We always forget how good our players are when they suffer long term injuries. People were calling lallana "bang average" last year. In truth he is a wonderful footballer, when fully fit. I hope the same doesn't happen to Alex oxlaide chamberlain.

Fekir to Chelsea, I hope it happens. I would rather face fekir than hazard, all day.

3.) 07 Aug 2018 21:46:45
Madrid have a rw - bale, asensio - Isco at a push. Don’t they need a lw?

05 Aug 2018 16:35:22
Hi Eds,

Has the club considered looking at Bernard as a replacement for coutinho? Available on a free and very much plays like coutinho.

{Ed002's Note - Try the search engine.}

1.) 05 Aug 2018 20:29:52
To play instead of whom? He's not at the same level as the players that we have in midfield now.

2.) 05 Aug 2018 22:02:13
If a coutinio type player is brought in it will have to be somebody of a similar level. I have to say shaqiri looks good. Much better than I would have thought.

Personally, I do see the need for two defensive midfielders in england, but if Klopp decides to take a different angle on the team, I could very well see DS starting and firmino falling back into no 10, with Naby and Fabinho behind him.

It was obvious last week that we needed to sign another midfielder. Why did he suddenly decide that? I love klopp and everything he's done for us, but some of his decisions are seriously questionable.

{Ed001's Note - performances have proved the need, plus we were busy with other players that the club tried to sign.}

So klopp's whole motto is not to panic buy? He must have serious confidence in his players, because majority of the fans believe we need reinforcements. Excited but terrified to see how this season plays out.
