Was wondering if anyone had any info on the Benjamin Pavard rumour in the Daily Mirror? They are saying we want him next summer for £35m but apparently he already has a pre-agreement to sign for Bayern?

Its lazy journalism. we have TAA, gomez and clyne
Why would you even believe in such a stupid rumor for an overrated player?

{Ed001's Note - he is a centre back.}

2.) 28 Aug 2018 20:33:00
Niinja that was an unnecessarily harsh response to what was a perfectly innocent question.

3.) 28 Aug 2018 21:03:45
How dare someone post a football rumour on a football rumours website.

4.) 28 Aug 2018 22:44:05
Sorry ninja didn't realise he was overrated. Clearly the professional coaches and managers such as World cup winner as player and manager Didier Deschamps have no idea what they are doing. Clearly you are far more intelligent than cretins like them.

5.) 29 Aug 2018 01:05:18
Assuming your "overrated" comment Ninja is based on you not hearing of the player before the world cup. The fact that you thought he was a right back would also suggest this.

The player himself is coming off a season where he played every single second of Stuttgart's Bundesliga campaign. He was regularly nominated for young player of the month and while he did play a variety of positions his permanent move into central defence in the latter half of the season coincided with the team only conceding 10 goals in 14 games as they moved from the relegation places into 7th. He then had a very good world cup despite being played out of position (Croatia was the only game he seemed to struggle with) . He's a very talented young player and certainly not overrated, hence Bayern's serious interest.

Now I don't think there's any truth in the reports linking him to Liverpool, but there's no need to be rude. Especially about a player you're not overly familiar with.

6.) 29 Aug 2018 03:25:20
One the better CB in bundesliga last season and he is unknown too a lot of people, how can he be overrated? He is also 22 years old, and have just started he's career.

7.) 29 Aug 2018 06:29:04
This is why people lose interest in posting rumours. Well done Ninja. Good job 😂😂.

8.) 29 Aug 2018 06:59:53
Could be a good squad edition. plays multiple positions and we seem a little short at centre back now Klaven has left.

9.) 29 Aug 2018 08:05:56
OP was also just asking a question. FIFA also rates pavard fairly highly too.

{Ed001's Note - he was excellent last season, so he deserves to be highly rated. In fact he probably underperformed in the World Cup due to playing out of position from what I have seen of him.}

10.) 29 Aug 2018 09:54:47
You can't just become a world cup winner unless you have something.

Like your talking about a world cup winning rb, that's no fluke.

11.) 29 Aug 2018 10:08:00
“You can't just become a world cup winner unless you have something. ”

Your honour I present exhibit A : Bernard Diomede

😄😉.

12.) 29 Aug 2018 11:33:38
you could add pogba to exhibit B Ron.

13.) 29 Aug 2018 12:03:22
According to german media there is a pre-agreement with him and Bayern but according to bayern there isn't one.

I think his release clausle is at € 35mio IF Stuttgart (which is very likely) won't get into the champions league. If somehow they end up in the champions league then his clausle expires.

Im not really sure how bayern is able to draw the clausle when its not even there yet but hey, bayern have done shady business in the past and it wouldn't suprise me if they have done it again.

14.) 29 Aug 2018 12:06:17
you can also add djimi traore and john o'shea as champions league winners.

15.) 29 Aug 2018 12:43:42
Cool.

Exhibit a started 3 games. Didn't play in the final.

Exhibit b needs a kante type to thrive, and actually had the kante with him.

16.) 29 Aug 2018 13:22:11
The premise of needing another player to make you look good is exactly what stops you from being that good.

I am always amazed that some people need these things explaining to them.

Trophies won is never a way judge the quality of a player. Ever. There are some awful ones that have won several trophies and some amazing players that have won none.

It's the sort of argument that Man Utd and Chelsea fans throw at Liverpool fans to show why our players aren't that good.

17.) 29 Aug 2018 14:47:26
No bud there's something to be said to be a starting playing in all but 1 game of a world cup winning team.

Not a squad player like some on here are suggesting. John oshea was a utility player.

My point is you don't start all but one game in a world cup campaign and be a passenger. He contributed and was a part of the starting team that won.

Secondly yeah I agree to an extent but no player can do it alone, the problem with pogba is he gets named as a cm and therefore expected to do the whole shebang in the middle. He isn't a cm. He is a cam. So therefore he does need help defensively and when he has it he does have good attacking qualities.

18.) 29 Aug 2018 16:16:37
Eamonsf, yes you are correct i had no clue about him before I saw him in the world cup.
Also, his wc performances were crap for a RB, somehow he and france survived the belgian onslaught.

Hence, the analysis that he is overrated based on what I saw in wc.

19.) 29 Aug 2018 17:47:57
Pavard is a good player, wouldn't say no to him at all. Vvd gomez lovern and pavard certainly wouldn't need us looking for another centre back anytime soon.

20.) 29 Aug 2018 19:33:35
If he did sign, it would leave us in good stead having Trent as the only out and out right back, as he, Fabinho and Gomez could play there if needed - so we could probably move on Clyne and Matip for one player incoming. Not saying it will happen, but seems like a good idea.

21.) 30 Aug 2018 00:48:32
Stephane Guivarc'h should be exhibit A.

Hi Eds, might be a long shot but I was hoping you might have a list of names of players the club holds interest in for the january and summer windows. I don't need the details, just the names as i'm attempting to write an article about who we are supposedly interested in and who i think we should be looking at. TIA.

BennyP

{Ed002's Note - There will soon be a Sharkopd, I will share what currently I know then.}

1.) 07 Nov 2017 11:32:18
I’m more excited about the music top job ed.

{Ed002's Note - I will have a think about a little something special then.}

2.) 07 Nov 2017 12:06:30
Cheers Ed. You're a legend.

I don't know if you were planning on including it in the pod already, but as well as players we are scouting/ interested in and players who may leave us, could you do a short brief on any players Barcelona might offer us as part of a Coutinho deal? You mentioned Gomes and Rafinha in the summer and it'd be interesting to know who they might offer, and who Liverpool would consider taking as part of a deal.

Really look forward to these Sharkopods Ed. You're insight is appreciated massively mate!

4.) 07 Nov 2017 15:00:46
Cheers for the reply Ed. Guess that is just Rafinha Alcantra then as Klopp likes him doesn't he. I hope we don't ask for him 😕.

Idk everyone else’s opinion but I really think we look weaker off the bench since Origi left. The lad had his share of poor performances and dodgy misses but he had the movement and turn of pace to leave defendersnfor dead and scored a few as well. Think the last few league games have really shown that. Solanke still too raw and needs to learn his own game as a slower striker before being relied on to replace Bobby in games.

BennyP

1.) 07 May 2018 05:45:18
Origi was certainly a better bench option last season than Solanke and Ings have been this season.

2.) 07 May 2018 09:01:21
Agree with BennyP, Divock offered much more than Solanke.

3.) 07 May 2018 09:29:20
Origi left coz we bought Solanke and that reduced his game time! Mistake was buying Solanke and not loaning Origi! Origi has pace and strength very much a Welbeck / Iwobi kind of a player. Doesn’t score enough like them! He isn’t having a very poor season in Germany!

4.) 07 May 2018 14:26:45
That is not true, Harry. Ed01 had said at the time that Origi left cos Studge could not be sold so he would be third on the pecking order, in Klopp's mind (Ed01, please correct me if I'm wrong) . A guy like that will not be hanging around here for that reason and why should he? That is why he left to get game time cos unlike Solanke, he has a WC to go to. Solanke has nothing to do with Origi leaving. Solanke is not and has NEVER been his equal (comparing him to Welbeck or Iwobi is just ludicrous cos they are not his equals either, IMO), that much is fact and the numbers bear that out. If you wanna moan about what made Origi leave, look to the no. 15 shirted guy at WBA. Not Studge's fault BUT there you go.

5.) 07 May 2018 15:41:42
Yes definitely. Hope he comes in, in the summer, with a hunger to regain his place in the team.

Matip is better than Lovren.

Ramsey is a quality player. His argument for the high wages will have been simple. 50% tax on the 400k means he will earn 200k after tax. The cost of his wages is equivalent to signing a player worth £31.2m on 200k wages. He could easily argue that Juve would not be able to get a player of his quality and experience for £31.2m. He is a goalscoring CM in the prime years of his career at a time when that sort of midfielder is making a real comeback in the game as opposed to the lower G+A but better buildup CMs such as Xavi, Iniesta, David Silva, etc.

BennyP

{Ed0333's Note - you’re forgetting his signing on fee, agents fees, tax etc etc mate.

Well we were looking at Fekir all summer, if Keita is playing in the more advanced attacking role now then Rabiot makes sense as a central midfielder.

Honestly if we are going to splash on a keeper it should be Oblak. He’s been class for several years and imo is up there with De Gea as best in the world.

The hate for Moreno is way too much after that game. The first goal was entirely his fault but the referee was coerced imto giving that penalty, very soft indeed. As for the 3rd goal, failure to get the ball out of the box had nothing to do with Moreno and ultimately was the goal that cost us because players switched off at a vital time.
