Eds. Do Liverpool retain any sort of interest in Luc Castaignos?

Anfieldboy

{Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware.}

Fantastic site first time I have ever posted but viewed the site for a long time.

I'm a little bit baffled almost every player somebody suggests we might buy you say no or no chance which you obviously have more knowledge than me!

Which is logical if were after Messi etc but really some of the players are never going to Barca, Real, Bayer, even if I swallow my pride and say Utd because of Money and success recently and City Money related and Chelsea Money/London scenario and Arsenal just London!

We're not poor by any means with have an annual transfer budget of £20-30m which comes from the huge TV revenues, we have a lot of players assaidi, suso that if we wanted to sell would be no shortage of takers.

We will at least get 10-15m in player sales that leaves champions league money as well so another £20-30m.

That would leave a budget of 50m-70m this summer surely? We cut right back last summer to reduce the wage bill and get finances in line. Yes we could use this money in bringing the club out of debt but a club in £50-60m of debt worth £400m+ is nothing with billionaire owner FSG aren't poor their just not a sheikh!

Surely this is the time to push on, we don't need a lot just 3-4 players worth 20m and done for the summer. 1 Left back and right back Johnson is not what he was 3 years ago!

1 back up striker, not sure about sakho so maybe 1 centre back and a centre midfielder maybe a back up for Henderson as allen and lucas are not like him or someone as back for Phillipe as no one can replace him either.

Yes we won't get Costa, Falcao, Cavani we all know this but we never have! Some love the weather, language, tax in foreign countries abroad or you pay them crazy money like Chelsea and City do to come to the UK otherwise nobody would join them!
Anyhow great site guys 4 more games come on lads!

{Ed002's Note - You need to register - and you need to understand that the club has been haemorrhaging money for years and that has to stop. The club will spend but must get itself in line with the financial regulations from both UEFA and the EPL.}

2.) Thanks for the reply Ed.

LVG likes a moan doesn't he?

Too many commercial activities, too many useless players, too many rich rivals, the training ground is too windy. Jeez. Talk about high maintenance.

And has anyone else noticed that the Iron Tulips head is like an Easter Island statue?

1.) Have a look in the Daily mirror of a picture of him today. "ET" . springs to mind with his huge giraffe neck and over botox skin!

He's the master tactician. Nobody can play for a draw like him, bar mourinho.

Don't know if it's the sun going to people's heads but some of the posts over the last few days have been mind-boggling.

I think I'll come back when the knee jerkers and big money buy fetishists have thinned out.

Good luck to the regulars over the next few weeks. You'll need it!

1.) Why couldn't we have spent lots of money on world class players like David Luiz? Vlaar would fit perfectly, he must be world class because he's playing for the 3rd best team in the world. Or Hulk. I don't understand why we keep buying players I've never heard of! I'm seriously thinking of holding my breath until we buy someone I want!

PS, This is NOT MOTD fever

2.) Brendan evidently considered Luiz, but eventually decided that a five quid training cone would provide better defensive cover.

3.) Clearly not MOTD fever - only Vlaar has had a good world cup.

Luiz close to £50m and Hulk over £30m not for me thanks.

5.) I seriously wonder about people on this site if they cannot spot blatant sarcasm.

Germany will need to tighten that defence up in the final.

Is it just me or is it that whenever Liverpool & Napoli appear in the same story it's accompanied by the word "loan". No wonder we decided to sell LS. We can't get a proper fee for anyone else!

It's a striker we are after plus Markovich. BR wants four strikers next season.

Moreno, Rojo & Bertrand on the 3 player LB short list.

To be honest he'd be a good shout. 14 PL goals last season. In his prime, plays right, left and centre and experience of the league. Not sure what sort of character he is but he's always carried a threat when I've seen him.

So the point of you post was to tell us of interest in Remy but we won't sign him because the deals you mention will be our last? Right. There'll be at least five more signings this summer.

We are chasing top 4 and want to do well in CL. Would you rather be relying on Huntelaar or Borini? He's also a completely different player to Lambert. I personally think Huntelaar would be a good signing - over Borini.

So we didn't earn more in TV revenue than ever before?

Our sponsorship deals aren't looking better than they did without CL?

Southampton haven't turned a profit on the players they have sold?

Football isn't a basket-case of a business to be involved in?

You don't have to invest in talent to be successful at the highest level in football?

Not sure what you have objected to or why you like to demean people who aren't financial professionals even though this is a banter site. You don't usually post considered responses so I won't hold my breath.

Saints have sold a (right now) back up RB, replaced Lallana with Tadic, Lambert with Pelle and Shaw with Bertrand. So they only need to replace Lovren in numbers terms and cover Rodriguez's injury perhaps. Only SOME Liverpool fans believe you need a squad of 50 players. Saints will be fine.

How is money spent lost? Last summers investment resulted in a bumper income due to finishing position and CL qualification triggers a huge increase in sponsorship income. Players are assets that (correctly deployed) can generate more than enough revenue to fund player acquisitions and salaries. Unfortunately football doesn't always work like this but your statement is incorrect. Southampton may have lost half a squad but they have made not lost money on their investment.

Anfieldboy

{Ed002's Note - Best avoid the finances as clearly you have a very naïve view.}
