Ed1, know you're a busy man but would really appreciate your take on a few things. 1) What is your opinion on Ronaldinho? Thought he was a wonderful player and seemed a nice guy, shame he seemed to peak earlier then decline rather quickly. 2) If you could only pick one player in their prime between Ronaldinhio, Messi and Ronaldo who would you pick and why?

{Ed001's Note - Ronaldinho was obscenely talented but more interested in partying than playing football and that is why his career peaked so early. He simply lacked desire and application to match his supreme talent.

Ronaldo is, or rather was, the perfect physical ideal of a footballer, incredibly fast, explosive acceleration, strong, great in the air and has fantastic technique to match. Unfortunately, while a genuinely nice guy off the pitch, on the pitch he is far too selfish and is not a team player on it, so he would be my third pick of them, for that reason.

Ronaldinho would be second choice, despite being the more naturally talented of the trio. Winning was not everything for him, he was more interested in looking good and having fun than winning.

Messi would have to be the choice, even though I do not like him or anything he stands for. He has that nasty win at all costs mentality that you need to win titles, as well as being more of a team player than Ronaldo.}

Thanks Ed1 much appreciated. Totally agree with you regarding Ronaldo, really selfish player on the pitch but has/ had all the attributes that you envisage with the perfect footballer. Regarding Ronaldinhio, if only he applied himself he could have gone down as the greatest, sad when you think about it.

{Ed001's Note - it feels like a waste of talent. When you look at someone like Kante, who gives 100% from the moment he steps on the pitch, never stops running and chasing for the team, can you imagine if he had Ronaldinho's talents?}

Ronaldhino is my favourite player of all time, but i think what if he had aplpied himself further.

3.) 01 Apr 2017 21:16:32
Inesta better than both.

Who would you guys say was the best number 9 between Brazilian Ronaldo and Suarez?

{Ed002's Note - Measured how?}

5.) 01 Apr 2017 22:24:31
At their peak? Ronaldo. He was devastating.

6.) 01 Apr 2017 20:05:18
Ed where would you rate zidane with them 3.

{Ed001's Note - below, way below. He was even more of a showboater than Ronaldinho, in that it was all about the tricks and flicks for him, rather than being effective first. Great player but those three are on a whole other level to him.}

Brazilian ronaldo, Suarez will go down as one of the best strikers of our generation but ronaldo is probably the greatest striker of all time at his peak. Pele statistically but let's face it ronaldo was far and away a more talented player than pele. He would be my striker in an all time starting 11.

{Ed001's Note - the 'fat' Ronaldo, at his peak, was probably the best player I have ever watched play in my lifetime. Everything he did was effective, it made a difference.}

Ed2, who'd win in a fight between lion and a bear?

9.) 02 Apr 2017 06:24:45
A bear, like literally every time.

"Ronaldo is the best player I have ever seen" - Clarence Seedorf. I second the motion and agree with your appraisal of O Phenomeno, I also agree that he was selfish on the pitch BUT a caveat was that he did not really have good teams to play with tho I agree that that is my opinion as someone who watched his career from beginning to end. He like Messi, had that nasty mean streak about him too which may explain his selfish attitude on the pitch.

He is actually mentally tougher than Messi and Ronaldinho cos if not, he would never have recovered from his multiple devastating knee injuries, to play and still win titles especially the World Cup in 2002 with one good knee. Again, Ronaldo is the best player I have ever seen in my 35 years of football and IMO, Messi does not come close to him.

I hate it when people call him fat Ronaldo (I'm not disputing that he put a few pounds on. ), I just find it ridiculous considering how incredibly talented he was that people would focus on his weight gain. My fave non Liverpool player ever, I'd have him in my team over that selfish, stroppy ego with the same name any day. Ronaldo was absolute class, such a shame he struggled so much with injuries.

{Ed025's Note - eating couches done him no favours.. :)
