Any chance we have looked at cheaper alternatives for the midfield, Kone from Borussia Mönchengladbach and Dominik Szoboszlai from Leipzig. I've read the previous posts
.

Acrock

{Ed002's Note - Aurelien Tchouameni was never going to join Liverpool. Numerous midfield players have been scouted but neither of those mentioned are of interest.}

1.) 08 Jun 2022 11:07:52
Aww well, thank you as always for your insight.

2.) 08 Jun 2022 11:11:36
Do you reckon we’ll look at Sangare Ed?

{Ed002's Note - I have dealt with this - try searching.}

3.) 08 Jun 2022 12:32:14
Will do Ed.

21 Apr 2021 16:31:39
Away from the super league nonsense, konate completed for £32m? Any truth.

Acrock

{Ed002's Note - As far as I know the situation was awaiting Liverpool to say that they would pay the asking price in a single payment and for RBL to drop a little issuette they had raised. I am not aware of anything being agreed but it may well have been.}

1.) 21 Apr 2021 19:16:22
Thanks Ed.

12 Apr 2021 07:51:24
Linked with Pedri from Barca, any chance and how much would he likely cost?

Acrock

{Ed002's Note - Barcelona have no intention of selling Pedri which means that any interested side would need to make an offer in line with his release clause in order to have the opportunity to talk with him.}

1.) 13 Apr 2021 07:02:02
Thanks for the response Ed, I'll write him off. Look forward to the sharkopod. One question if you have the time, would you keep kabak or not? I think he's a little slow and don't think he's suited to the pace of our league.

13 Feb 2016 08:51:44
Hi eds,

Any chance of Karius of Mainz? We were linked this week (albeit we are linked with every name) as a backup for stegen (I wish)

Are journos putting 2 and 2 together and getting 5?

Friend of mine watches a lot of German football says he's a beast, do the eds or others know much about him?

Acrock

{Ed001's Note - I don't know anything about him other than we are tracking him.}

1.) 13 Feb 2016 12:41:50
Thanks ed. apparently he turned down Bayern when they came in for him because he did t want to be a back up.

Just a quick one, since we are definately signing tchouameni, both Bellinghams, mbappe, carvalho etc. Who do you think leaves to accommodate? I had Origi, Karius, Woodburn, van den burg, poss minamino

Still think we'll struggle to fit them in.

Acrock

1.) 16 May 2022 17:17:35
Just a guess,

Origi - absolute legend. Thank you so much for the memories.

Minamino - thank you so much for playing a massive role in winning us 2 cups this year. Wish you the best in your career.

Neco - flying at Fulham. Wish him all the best and hope he realizes his potential.

Phillips - when our season was falling apart last season cometh the man in our hour of need. Wish you all the success in the world.

Oxlade-Chamberlain - man, if it wasn't for injuries what could you be. Never left us down and you seem like a great guy in the dressing room. Always laughing and joking. Honestly I laughed out loud in the interview with Barnes when he asked him and Jones what they want for the season. Jones was talking about establishing himself as a first team player etc. And chamberlain mimic the same answer. Very funny. Hope he stays injury free with a new club and shows the world what he can do.

Possibles:

Kieta - I still believe in this guy and the players seem to like him but the Eds do highlight some personal issues. If he goes, I hope it all goes well. He s got the talent.

I think we will sign one and lose one of Salah/ Mane. Honestly it will be gutting. True legends of our club. I think guys, if one leaves, I implore you not to turn on them. These guys have given so much. We should wish them well. I hope I'm wrong on this.

Possibly Firmino. I hope not because he's still got it and is a pressing machine. In the Salah or
Mane category. I could not thank him enough and wish him the best more.

Joe Gomez - honestly he was looking great in rb cover and can cover cb as fourth choice. I hope we can convince him to stay.

Milner - Age is not just a number. You lose speed, fitness. Your body just can't handl. Oh James Milner- yeah age is just a number with that freak. Hope he stays until retirement and joins coaching staff when he does retire. Starting in the youth leagues.

I think these possible sales highlight the massive improvement the club has made. I remember hoping x y z would leave. Now we re selling players I like and I have zero issue with any of these staying and hope some do. Especially the possibles.

2.) 16 May 2022 18:24:14
Other than Origi and Karius, who are definitely going, I think Neco, Ox, Woodburn, Phillips will go.

Possibly Milner will go, I think Keita will stay.

If Mane and Salah don’t renew then a decision has to be made. I think Firmino will probably renew.

I think it will be between Gomez and Van Der Berg on who goes, as Klopp will still want a fourth choice CB.

3.) 16 May 2022 18:28:18
PL registered squad at current:

Home Grown (7 out of 8):
Kelleher (Club Trained), Gomez, Trent (Club Trained), Henderson, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Milner, Phillips (still registered despite being on loan) .

Non home grown (17 out of 17):
Alisson, Adrian, van Dijk, Matip, Konate, Robertson, Tsimikas, Fabinho, Thiago, Keita, Salah, Mane, Jota, Firmino, Diaz, Minamino, Origi

Notable not registered:
Karius, Jones (U21), Elliot (U21), Neco Williams (U21)

Karius will go, but that doesn't free up a slot as he was de-registered in January to make room for Diaz.
Ox will go. That frees up room for another Home Grown player. This spot will likely be taken by Jones, who isn't U21 from next season and thus needs to be registered (unless we loan him out or something) . Unlike Ox, he's also club trained, which is important for the Champions League squad.
Origi and Taku will leave, that frees up 2 slots which can be taken by any incoming player.

So without any further departures, we'd have room for one more HG player and two non-HG players in the PL squad. For the CL, the HG player would have to also be club trained. Only realistic option there is the returning Neco Williams, who like Jones, requires registry from next season if he's staying. Rumoured to not want to stay.

I assume Phillips will leave, that gives room for another HG player. Likewise if Gomez or Milner go, although the latter is being linked with a new deal.

If we sign more than 2 non HG players, current first team players have to leave to make room.

4.) 17 May 2022 02:25:42
Hi something red, just a clarification: the homegrown player number of 8 is not a maximum, you can have any number of homegrown players (in fact bigger is better for registration purposes) . It is the non HG players that has a maximum.

Sorry if you already knew that, but it was a bit unclear in your writing.

5.) 17 May 2022 19:03:10
Mane - can see him going to bayern.
Bobby - love the guy but surely people can see its time for him to move on. hardly fit now
Milly - stays for 1 more year and joins the coaching staff
Joe - hope he stays
Ox - has to move his career is stagnant
Keita - on borrowed time that guy. massive flop for me
Origi - could of been a great, given the chance. but will always be a legend for us
Curtis Jones- not really sure he has the potential at this level. maybe 1 more year
Karius - thank god he won't be in net against Madrid again. Terrible
Adrian - really didn't see why he got a years contract last summer. get him gone and bring a kiddie through
Just my thoughts on these lot.

Sure this has been covered, but I'll ask anyway. In terms of 4th place, there's only ever 4 spaces for the CL, if Chelsea win it then the team in 4th place drops out unless Chelsea are in the top four already. Couldn't work out why everyone wanted Leicester to win when surely Chelsea getting top four would be more beneficial? So really we need Chelsea to win their last game and we need to win both of ours. Apologies if this has been asked before, but there's a lot of mixed messages being banded about.

Acrock

1.) 19 May 2021 08:29:16
Search for it. It’s been covered a lot recently. There can be 5 teams if chelsea were to win the UCL and finish outside top 4.

2.) 19 May 2021 08:34:46
What happens if Chelsea win the Champions League, but finish outside top four? Chelsea would still automatically qualify for next season's Champions League as tournament winners, and England would have five teams competing. Whoever finishes fourth in the Premier League would not drop down to the Europa League
This is what happens.

3.) 19 May 2021 08:40:30
No if chelsea finish outside of top and win CL then 5 teams will go to the champions league.

4.) 19 May 2021 09:04:34
There's 5 spaces available for the UCL in the Prem. If Chelsea win the CL and fail to get a top 4 spot it makes absolutely no difference to the rest of the teams who finish top 4 (they will all still qualify) . The best result for Liverpool yesterday, imo, was a Leicester win followed by a draw. The actual outcome was the worst possible!

5.) 19 May 2021 09:16:41
no if chelsea win they get the 5th spot, it was only if another team e. g. arsenal won the europa league where it would mean 4th place would no longer get a spot.

6.) 19 May 2021 09:30:54
If Chelsea finish 5th (or below) in the PL and win the CL then they will get a CL spot as there is an extra place available for these circumstances. This was partly driven (I think) from when Liverpool won in 2005 but didn't automatically qualify for the next season.

7.) 19 May 2021 09:34:04
Winning the CL has no bearing on how many league CL places there are.

It only matters if the team winning it are outside the top 4, in which case they get a place.

If Chelsea win it and are in the top 4, it means nothing for the team in 5th.

8.) 19 May 2021 09:34:10
There is now only 4 Champions League spots but the only way a 5th team would've got a slot would've been if Arsenal had won the Europa League and Chelsea won the Champions league but finished outside of the top 4. Then the top 3 would've been in the champions league due to their finishing position in the league along with Arsenal and Chelsea who would get a place in the Champions League via winning the Champions League and Europa League. The team that finished in 4th if that situation occured would then drop into the Europa League. The eds and other posters have already covered all of this!

9.) 19 May 2021 09:34:42
Acrock, that isn't correct. The only way 4th would not secure champions league football is if both the winners of the CL and Europa finished outside of the top 4. This can no longer happen this season after Arsenal went out in the last round of Europa. Therefore 4th will secure Champions league qualification regardless of the Champions league result and Chelsea's league position. Hope that helps.

10.) 19 May 2021 09:46:15
Ah. How much times this needs to be accessed? There can be 5 teams in the CL. Currently depending on Chelsea. If Chelsea finishes 5th and wins the CL there will be 5 teams. 4th place won't drop from the tournament. If Chelsea finishes 3rd or 4th and wins the CL, same for City as they finished 1st, that won't open the 5th spot.

11.) 19 May 2021 09:50:47
If a team outside the Top 4 wins the CL mate then there'll be 5 teams in it.

12.) 19 May 2021 09:51:47
You can have 5 teams but never any more. If Chelsea win the champions League and finish 5th England can have 5 teams I believe.

13.) 19 May 2021 09:53:41
If Chelsea win CL and finish 5th there'll be 5 English teams. Every other scenario this year would mean 4 English teams in champions league.

Basically, you can't qualify for the CL if you finish outside the top four and don't win CL or European Cup.

Only scenario where fourth would drop out is where 2 English clubs win European Cup and CL and both of those clubs finish outside the top four.

14.) 19 May 2021 09:56:38
That’s incorrect Acrock, if Chelsea finished in 5th and Won the champions league, then 5 English teams would qualify for next seasons tournament, the only way it could possibly effect Liverpool is if for example United and Chelsea won both European competitions this season and they both finished outside the top four, or if Arsenal or Spurs had won the Europa league this season, then the team that finished fourth would loose their place, so basically if Chelsea finish fourth or Fifth it would have no bearing on Liverpool.

15.) 19 May 2021 10:46:40
This has been done to death. Anyone can search the info on the forum. If we finish in the top 4, whatever Chelsea do will not matter.

12 May 2021 20:17:07
Any chance of De Paul and Bissouma? Or is it one or the other, different types of midfielders and obviously we have to sell and raise funds etc, but is there any chance of two midfielders in?

Acrock

1.) 12 May 2021 20:42:16
Jones is the answer.

2.) 12 May 2021 21:45:45
Is he f#%#.

3.) 12 May 2021 21:58:41
Jones is the answer and Bissouma is the answer. Both can be true.

4.) 13 May 2021 00:28:49
Jones has pretty much already replaced Ox and Keita, Bissouma will take Wijnaldums place.

30 Apr 2021 17:37:16
Konate to replace Lovren (was never replaced)
Bissouma to replace wij
Elliot/ Jones to replace shaq
Vlahovic/ Malen to replace Origi

I'd be happy with that.

Acrock

1.) 30 Apr 2021 17:45:42
Konate to replace Lovren
Bissouma to replace Keita
Jones to replace Wijnaldum
Elliot to replace Shaqiri
Vlahovic to replace Origi.

2.) 30 Apr 2021 18:30:44
My 6 year old to replace Naby😂.

3.) 30 Apr 2021 19:45:45
A plank of wood to replace Naby.

{Ed0666's Note - you’re not being very nice today 6 times.

4.) 30 Apr 2021 20:22:13
That’s true Ed0666, a bit harsh on the plank of wood that!

5.) 30 Apr 2021 20:49:43
Tell me I’m not wrong about Naby, Ed. It’s true.

{Ed0666's Note - a plank of wood has more movement

6.) 30 Apr 2021 22:31:27
OP, Lovren was replaced with Fab at CB when needed with Phillips drafted in after Gomez and VVD got injured. You may disagree but those are the facts. As for the rest, I fully agree.

7.) 30 Apr 2021 22:41:33
Aouar frm lyon to replace naby and ox. One can hope.

{Ed0666's Note - Divvy par les vous Francais

8.) 01 May 2021 02:38:58
Or Hlozek to replace Origi maybe?

9.) 01 May 2021 06:41:10
Konate to replace Matip
Phillips has replaced Lovren
Elliot replaces Shaq
Musialowski replaces Taki
Malen replaces Origi
Bissouma/ Neuhaus replaces Gini
Jones (more game time) replaces Naby

If we can move Mane or Bobby on this summer for good money, then that helps from a long term perspective.
If Bobby leaves, sign a second striker/ CAM like Pedro Goncalves/ Aouar.
If Mane goes, maybe Raphinha/ Luis Diaz/ Barnes/ Thuram would be decent younger replacements.

10.) 01 May 2021 08:59:14
Romero to replace Adrian, crazy thought .

11.) 01 May 2021 11:21:37
hold on, who is mbappe replacing? origi, surley.

28 Apr 2021 13:36:25
In
Cakir
Konate
Neuhaus
Elliot (end of loan)
Daka

Outs
Gini
Kabak (end of loan)
Grujic
Shaq
Origi

Realistic or not?

Acrock

{Ed002's Note - Some yes and some no.}

1.) 28 Apr 2021 14:03:20
The outs look realistic.

In's maybe not?

GK - Maybe recall Grabara and if he isn't up to scratch sign a third choice? Cakir would be looking to start surely?

CB - Konate, looks nailed on. Maybe Kabak also? If not keep Phillips as a 4th choice.

CM - Neuhaus, would have to pay release clause. Also doesn't the club prefer Gravenberch from Ajax? Bissouma an alternative also.

AM/ Winger - Elliott will most likely come in. Interest in Sancho but financially it looks like a non-starter. Maybe Sarr from Watford?

Striker/ CF - Depay, on a free maybe. Malen from PSV perhaps, seen his name touted around. Daka, expensive but the ideal forward I'd want to sign.

Honourable mentions: Aouar, I'd love to sign him tbh. Not sure how realistic that is. A new LB would be nice.

Btw I'm just providing alternatives to who you said. Could be a big summer for the club, the squad needs some form of refresh.

I'm sure the Ed's will keep us well informed on any movements and potential signings.

2.) 28 Apr 2021 14:09:37
I don't see Cakir, Daka nor Neuhaus happening, IMO. Kabak could be the only ones that stays in the Outs column.

3.) 28 Apr 2021 13:59:42
Ed are the unrealistic ones Neuhaus and Daka?

{Ed002's Note - Try searching.}

4.) 28 Apr 2021 14:33:57
Which ones are the yes Ed002😁.

{Ed002's Note - The ones where I have previously explained there is interest or a chance.}

5.) 28 Apr 2021 14:37:10
Pretty sure Cakir is nailed on to join Dortmund? Even still, I’d rather we saved that money and made Kelleher number two as he’s been excellent when he stepped in and we brought in an older experienced keeper for number three backup, I’ve no thoughts on who though.

6.) 28 Apr 2021 15:00:52
Ed002, do we have an interest in Dusan Vlahovic or is he the latest twitter bait?

{Ed002's Note - Dusan Vlahovic (S) Milan see the player as an Ibrahimovic back up and possible replacement - Spurs have the same view in respect of Kane - and Dortmund do in respect of Haaland. Roma and Atletico Madrid offer another option which would see him as a starter. Manchester City approached Fiorentina and were told that the aking price will be set above €50M which came a s a surprise.}

7.) 28 Apr 2021 15:39:37
Thanks Ed002.

8.) 29 Apr 2021 07:14:40
We should be looking to some free agents. Juve have been boss club in buying free agents and then selling in profits.

I agree totally. I hate the term marquee signings as its instantly puts unwanted pressure on the player to perform as fans think they should be winning games singlehandedly. Mane has been hung out to dry by our so called fans (the same that ostracised Origi before he had even kicked a ball) . I like Mane and if he signs along with whoever else I will support them. Just because they aren't a big name (or Reus) doesn't mean they aren't worthy of playing for Liverpool. I hope he proves people wrong.
