What should Mane of done instead? Now don't get me wrong, it was dangerous, and deserved the red. But here we have an attacking player going for a ball, which in the moment he knew if he could get it, he'd get a goal, so I can't fault him for going for it. How should if of been handled? Used his head instead? Left it for the keeper? Again dangerous incident, malicious or not, it was a red.

There's nothing wrong with going for the ball with his foot but it's a risk a player takes when it's at that height. Unfortunately he was beaten to it and it went from a 50/ 50 challenge to a dangerous one. There was no intent but the outcome was the same. There was no malicious intent but if it had been on one of our players we would have cried blue murder. If we appeal we run an extreme risk of it being extended. We just have to suck it up and take it on the chin. Like the city keeper did.

{Ed002's Note - Always look on the bright side Jayden, Klopp will have an ace up his sleeve.}

I still don’t see it, if he beat the keeper to the ball he would have just hooked it or the ball would have bounced of the keepers face. Unless the keeper stayed on his line then yes he probably would have scored. But he didn’t lol
Ed2 reading down these posts so far and you replies are making me laugh 😂.

{Ed002's Note - It is like shooting monkeys in a barrell Phil.}

Never a red card. Football is a contact sport. Should be rescinded I would think. Still liverpools capitulation reminded me of the French maginot line. Or should that be Mignolet line as everyone is having a go at him.

{Ed002's Note - Ref was obviously blind as a bat.}

Reminded me of the American army retreating from Korea in the 50's. Tail between out legs. Some fans probably needed that wake up call. Maybe some players too.

Lord Ha Ha, are you serious? Never a red? Take your Liverpool tinted glasses off and look at it again.

HE KARATE KICKED HIM IN THE JAW!

I wasn't intentional, but it was stupidly dangerous. Maybe Mane should fight Conor McGregor.

personally I think it was a red but no malice intended. Maybe the red card will stand with just a 1 game ban I'd be happy with that.

7.) 10 Sep 2017 11:30:29
Hsf

You clearly have no idea what a karate kick is. Get back under your bridge.

Lord Ha Ha

You clearly have no idea what the laws of the game are either.
Even 30,40,50,60etc years ago it would have still been a red card.

it’s called football not foothead.

In regards to the Coutinho gossip of him not making himself available to play in the Champions League, in order to force a move. You have to remember, most of these snippets from "sources" are completely made up. Ed001 linked an article about the lengths the media would go to, to sell a story. Although it provides some good debate, try to remember, footballers are employees, nothing more. No need getting upset about it, and wait until it happens before you start chastising!

I agree with most of your post 8th time. But I think footballers are more than normal employees. They are entertainers and get paid accordingly they are also role models. I'm sure there are loads of kids who have coutinio posters in their room and so these players become part of the fabric of our lives. His refusal to play in ucl is awful.

{Ed001's Note - how about waiting until he actually does refuse to play before crucifying him on hearsay?}

2.) 06 Sep 2017 07:38:54
Can a player refuse to play? I can't refuse to work and expect to get paid?

I think more of different prospective to the op. More like we paid this much for someone we need to play him, or it was just a waste of funds, is the more common though.

Again Mane could of seriously hurt Ederson. I don't think the problem is him getting a red, it's there doesn't seem to be consistency among refs.

Is raising your foot high when no one is around dangerous play? No. But then how close does someone need to be for it to be considered dangerous?

Should it be a yellow for accidental? How do you prove it's accidental, or intentional?

This is all part of the drama that makes football exciting.

Although yesterday's sending off ruined what was supposed to be the biggest game so far this season.

The refs are employed for their judgement, hopefully someone clarifys the rules, so all judgements are the consistent. However to do that, you need to take the human out of the decision making.

Klopp doesn't use defenders. Who needs em' when you have 7 in midfield? The sooner everyone accepts this new soccer ball philosophy the better you'll feel.

We'll go for Lemar again next summer if that's the case. Keita and Lemar next summer, maybe a defender or two. Yes please! Really though, it's exciting times again to be a Liverpool supporter. Hopefully we'll stay out of the valley!
