What's the excuse for this capitulation guys I can't find one.

It's the kick up the backside we need.

14 Apr 2024 17:15:41
Returning to the slow, ponderous build up Klopp and Lijnders want the team to play. Its awful tactically and really doesn't work for this team . Trying to out Pep Pep has back fired spectacularly.

14 Apr 2024 17:22:52
It's not a capitulation, a team just averages out over a season.

14 Apr 2024 17:28:39
Some on this site will find some 😂.

City at home was a must win. Then we left no room for error first point dropped is season over and we drew at old Trafford, bang done, see you next year.
Today didn’t matter it was a training session and played at such pace.

14 Apr 2024 17:51:05
Somewhat ironic on Grand National weekend we did a Devon Loch.

14 Apr 2024 16:31:13
Out of Europa Cup, out of title race all in 1 week. That's tough to stomach.

So annoying, nobody told me the game on Thursday was cancelled or the rest of the season for that matter.

14 Apr 2024 16:51:47
Gutted.

Sz8Sz8, so can you see us beating Atalanta away by four clear goals and that we’ll not only win every game between now and the end of the season but that City and Arsenal will both drop enough points for us to be back at the top of the table? Because none of those things look remotely plausible given that we keep giving away soft goals and look more toothless than a meth addict up front and also accounting for the fact that City never drop points from these situations. You’d be delusional to think otherwise. Season is as good as over, looking at our fixtures remaining I’d be surprised if we took nine points from them given our appalling form.

Absolute bottlers. Complete overhaul needed in the summer.

Well the season now seems to have fizzled out. I'll save on the whys.
I do look forward to scraping the inverted rubbish. It will bring about far better performances next season with this group of players.

Many may feel differently, but I am looking forward to next year without the inverted FB tactics and one or two players moving on (Salah included! ) . I have not been impressed at all with his touch, workrate and general form over the last month or so. I am not making him a scapegoat for our poor form as I think that is really down to the injuries and impact of injuries catching up with the team, but I am sick of seeing Salah jump out of 50/ 50's and balls bouncing of his shins. Bring on next year with a fresh manager, fresh approach and hopefully so better luck with injuries and VAR.

The inverted system, whilst not a aystem that has been embraced by us supporters, is not the problem here.

The problem is that we have not incorporated wide play into our game

The old days of the full backs bombing down the flacks is long gone. and with it our attacking prowess.

{Ed001's Note - but the inverted system is why the full-back are not bombing down the flanks and why we have no width.}

Then I'm finding it very difficult to understand why Klopp has changed his style.

His style was unique and brought success to him over the years.

His turned his back on his beliefs which is so sad.

One of the most disappointing runs we've had in terms of performances and results right back to Arsenal loss really in terms of results.

Quick question for the Ed's though, the last few weeks has been a much much slower build up and rally laboured approach to the game which seemed different to the rest of the season.

Do you think this is down to tired legs and they just don't have the high energy players to play that way or do you think it's a specific tactical approach to change the way we were playing, possibly to try and be a little more stable (which hasn't worked) .

Think a lot of work in the summer.

Decisions need to be made on Konate, Tsimikas, Endo, Szoboszlai, Gravenberch, Jones, Elliot, Salah, Diaz and Nunez.

Personally think it could be time for Konate to be moved on, great when playing regular and inform but picks up so many regular injuries and then takes time to find his form again. Tsimikas just isn't the level. Endo seems a great character and works hard but is he good enough to start week in week out when others have Rodri or Rice? Szobo is lazy and not a team player, bad 5-6 games at the start he hasn't really played. Gravenberch has been so poor he isn't even used when we need to change a game. Jones and Elliot both similar position, they are good and home grown but are either good enough to be starters? Salah I think is in a position with his contract where it would be madness to let him run it down and even more madness to extend for even longer on those numbers so I personally would move him on. Diaz is brilliant on the ball, doesn't stop running but his end product isn't brilliant and very similar with Nunez, definitely don't think we can keep both and I don't think they work well together at all.

{Ed001's Note - we have just gone back to how we started the season, the way Klopp and Lijnders aimed for us to play. It is a tactical choice nothing to do with tired legs as most of them are fresh back from injury. We have gone from a team mixed with kids playing high octane football to a team back playing how the coaching staff set us up to play and it has been just as poor as it was early. The only difference is that we are no longer rescuing abysmal performances with a late rescue act.}

Always seemed a touch to many, a pass to much and as you've said lack of width from diaz and salah.

14 Apr 2024 17:14:06
Even then we had so many chances today to score 4 or 5 probably. The conversion rate is just so poor.

14 Apr 2024 17:17:12
Which begs the question Ed, where else can the blame lie other than Klopp? Regardless to whose idea this is he allows it happen?

I just tried it so frustrating when I believe Nunez and Diaz would thrive in that old heavy metal football we all fell in love with.

{Ed001's Note - it is on Klopp, much as I love him, it is his mistakes that are costing us.}

14 Apr 2024 17:24:30
If that’s the case ed, good riddance to Klopp and co.

14 Apr 2024 16:16:25
I've sussed it.

Stick Nunez in defence. he's doing a fantastic job of making sure the ball doesn't hit the back of the net.

Carragher nailed it when he said how many times do we say "he should have score that". no point causing Chaos and dragging players about, if you and your colleagues can't hit a cows arse with a banjo.

People use the chaos thing to justify him. Because we paid so much money for him. He plays like a ten year old. Head down, always offside and horrendous finisher. Oh but he works hard! Oh but he gets into the positions! Blah blah blah. The guys an outright donkey so what does it matter. They will struggle to find a buyer for him that’s for sure. Needs to be gone. Could say the same for most of the strikers to be fair.

14 Apr 2024 17:14:30
I'd play him on the left, personally. I think his physical attributes suit a wider position.

14 Apr 2024 16:10:57
Based on our current form we should be more concerned with securing champions league places than the title. 6 games to go with a 11 point cushion. Sounds good but it's hard to see where our next win will come from if this form continues.
